I had an implant done here 4 years ago. Told me yesterday it has failed and they want to do it again for over $5000. I was under their care every 6 months for cleaning and check up. Last time I was there 6 months ago I was told I had infection near implant. They just put a topical medicine on it so I paid little attention to it. I began dental work late in 2018. I had some teeth removed. The partials were very cheap in quality and very uncomfortable. This was a real hassle due to the distance I had to travel. We just couldn't get things right. I was very unhappy, and they finally agreed to reimburse my money as long as I removed the negative review. Now, 2021, I'm moving forward with the work I wanted in 2018. PROBLEM. The teeth that I had removed, were not completely removed. Now I have paid someone else to complete the job that was not done correctly at Advanced Dentistry. They were able to fit me in for an appointment the week before New Years when it is their busiest time of the year. I was extremely nervous, but Dr. Kaar completely put me at ease. He spent a great deal of time in my exam explaining all his findings to me. He took pictures to help me understand what he was talking about. The staff was so friendly, especially the assistant Valerie. Sandra really helped explain my financing options also. This office really wants you to feel comfortable- whatever it takes. Choosing this Dr. was the worst decision of my life! I have dreamed of having a pretty smile since my childhood, but due to congenitally missing teeth I thought it wouldn't be possible. I saved as much money as I could and did a lot of research and decided to see what my options were. I started the (miserable 6.5 hour) process of crown lengthening in order to proceed with full upper crowns in February 2020; after CONTINUAL mess up's with the office staff and lab, and no communication from the doctors, it is now the end of January 2021 and I am still in my temporary set of teeth and looking for a new dentist. I should have known something was off when I was asked to leave a 5 star review before any work had been done on me. This has been the worst experience of my life; there are honestly too many incidents to list in this review and none of the doctors or staff seem to really care about the mistakes that were made. Dr. Kaar is fully aware of the issues I experienced and has never once reached out to see if there is something that can be done to fix the issues. I have never cried as much as I have this past year due to my experience with this office. I have wasted thousands of dollars and this office has left me completely disheartened and disgusted. For one their marketing with cheaper costs is false marketing, when I asked what I get for the advertised price and their reply was it would have to be the implant only and one of the smallest teeth. The its the abutment and then the crown. Looked up the parts Kaan uses and they are the cheapest in the industry!! terrible bedside, extremely rough throughout. This dentist office staff is very irresponsible. they gave me appointment for 7:30 AM.I live 45 min. away. They x-rayed my teeth and then inform me that doctor is not available until 10:00 AM for procedure. I had no choice but to leave office and they charge me office visit. Your phone is your first point of contact with your customer. When you call for an appointment and the person tells you that "Well, of course Desiree, has left for the evening (2pm) and didn't leave me any notes" that is your first introduction to the practice. When you send paperwork via e-mail, it would be important to have it in a legible format for printing such that it could be completed thoughtfully before the appointment. These were scans of photo copies. Your second interaction is the confirmation of the appointment and the person doesn't confirm the address or if it's tricky to get there or if they're in a new location. This I already surmised but it would have been nice to know. Upon entering, it shouldn't be a surprise that I'm there. Don't hand papers to a new client and expect them to sign them not knowing what they are. When seated in the dental chair, one should look to see what the patient is looking at. From my view I could see that this was a sparkling new facility, but, had some deferred outdoor maintenance. Between spiderwebs in the corner of the windows (outside) and some minor trash-- it wasn't exactly the view any person would necessarily want looking out from the dental chair. When taking a panoramic x-ray it is not incumbent on the patient to remind the assistant that you should be wearing a lead apron. But the initial scan was completed without it until something was said to the assistant. When taking someone's blood pressure-- yes I'm above a certain age, however when it is a low normal reading the expression should not be "DAMN! WOW! That's good" Our relationship hasn't progressed to such a familiar tone. If I have painstakingly completed the forms, and completely given you the correct and up-to-date insurance information, please do not try to sell me on a reduced "cash-option" until you have submitted a pre-treatment estimate, as my plan is rather exceptional and does cover implants, but your first impression was to hit me high, and then offer me a discount. "Discount" should not be the first words out of a patient or a dentist's mouth-- as I'm not bargaining with my teeth or my general health. The facility is gleaming, and it's very new it smells new, new paint and flooring, new construction. The facility is smartly decorated and very nice, with ample parking. I was not impressed with the staff, nor the dentist that I saw. I wasn't confident in selecting Advanced Dentistry as my provider for dental implants, based on my interactions with the practice. I found it to be far more expensive than comparable practices, and to be poorly operated. read more

I want to thank Advance Dentistry and its staff for the work they did on my teeth. I'm from out of town and my first experience was not a good one. I was nervous about the procedure and had pervious work done but because of COVID-19 my work was delayed and damaged. So I had to find another dentist that would help in restoring my teeth. The work was done in two separate visitations. The first was the surgery and temporary replacements. This visit was not a pleasant experience due to the complications in communication about the procedure and just getting everything finalized. But I have to say, my second visit to Texas to finish my procedure was excellent, Leon and Ashley was a pure delight. They not only made me feel comfortable but there knowledge and professionalism was beyond what I expected. Dr. Kaar is not a very personable person but his knowledge and expertise is top notch. I had appointment with the facility on for three-unit dental bridge. Initially I had a temporary bridge. Broke my 2 teeth when I visit the facility for permanent bridge. Dr Olga was ready to give me root canal on the same day but I refused to have it as I wanted to find out various options. I asked Dr Olga for free treatment and compensation for breaking teeth. She said I will discuss with Dr Darian Karr. Instead of compensation and treatment options, I got a letter after one week from Dr Karr's Office on refund settlement and release. The letter clearly states we refund your money and you agree not to institute, prosecute, pursue any action against Advanced Dentistry and refrain from any disparagement, defamation, libel or slander of Advanced Dentistry and forever release the dentistry. I was flabbergasted by reading the letter as I was looking for treatment options. Instead of giving treatment options, doctor office decided to refund without further obligations. I felt that is gross negligence and unethical practice on doctor's part as Dr Office did not even care to discuss with me before sending the letter. I just got a call from Finance Department that we have emailed you refund settlement and release letter. Please sign and send it back to us. I didn't sign the letter. I visited the facility a couple of more times to discuss treatment options but I was not satisfied the way Dr Karr handled the matter so finally I gave up and decided to go to another dentist to discuss treatment options. read more

Alright my friends let me tell you a little story....I walked into Advanced Dentistry with my guard up, cautious, distrustful....I had spent the last two years of my life attempting to have dental implants with dentures...two years later only left with a severe infection and so much bone loss that they needed to removed immediately! Advanced Dentistry began treating me...after a couple visits, consultations, I put my faith and dental future into their hands and thank GOD they not only met but exceeded my expectations. I have been treated professionally by every member of their Team. We have all heard the benefits of dental implants, the costs involved, etc. Please understand that whatever price you wind up paying it's meaningless if the work isn't done correctly and to the contrary extremely expensive, and extremely costly in mental/physical pain if your Dentist isn't reputable and skilled in the work you're having done! I went in today to have a consultation with Dr. Kaar. This was a very good experience. The staff was very patient and kind. The office is sparkling clean and feels brand new. Today, Joanna was my dental assistant and she was certainly professional and patient while taking x-rays and getting my dental history. Very impressed with her and the doctor. Dr. Kaar answered all my questions and made suggestions as to what he felt was the best approach to my dental restorations. I will review again if I go back for the work to be done. read more

I recently had complex dental treatment performed by Dr. Kaar at Advanced Dentistry which included bone grafts, sinus lifts, extractions, implant placements, etc. I felt very little to no pain after surgery, which was quite a surprise, as I was expecting the worst. I immediately felt a relief from all of the decay and disease cause by my natural teeth. I'm a 25 year old professional and I now have a smile that I'm proud to show off and have my self-confidence back. I went to other dental offices before choosing Advanced, but they wanted at least twice as much as what I was quoted and couldn't offer the same services that Advanced could, such as IV sedation. I would happily recommend Advanced to anyone who needs a check up, light or major dental work. The office staff is very friendly, the technicians are helpful and honest and Dr. Kaar is simply an expert at his craft. Less than 1 star. I called for appointment. I asked if it was right that the exam and consultation was free. They also advertise "no bait and switch" in their ad. They first said it cost $65.00. I don't call that free. They said it was refundable and would be deducted with procedure. I then asked if the implant was $1895.00, as advertised, which includes everything(no bait and switch). They started changing their tune on that. Next they asked me for my credit card info. I told them I wouldn't give them that info before they have even seen me. She then said without my credit card I would be considered a walk-in for my appointment and I wouldn't be able to see doctor. I'm not sure who I would have seen. I don't even know where to begin. If I could give ZERO stars, I would. My husband was scheduled to get "All on 4's". At first everyone seemed so professional and kind. As soon as they received payment it all went downhill. From rescheduled appointments to unanswered phone calls and nobody giving us straight answers. Once my husband reluctantly went to start the procedure, everything became a nightmare. My father-in-law took him to his appointment which was never completed. My husband was woken from anesthesia after about 45 minutes with the excuse that he would not remain asleep (he has never had issues with anesthesia before, and remembers NOTHING from this day). He was sent home with NO post op instructions and his father wasn't even aware that they had placed stitches in his mouth. Neither of them knew why he was being sent home. My husband wasn't fully conscious until 10PM that night (approximately 7 hours after the anesthesia). The next day, while in incredible pain, he and I tried calling the office to get answers about what happened and what the plan was. We were hung up on twice and then our calls were being ignored and we still had no information. After a few days and MANY phone calls and emails they finally agreed to issue a refund which was not a quick or easy process on their part. At this point we just wanted to be done with the place. Needless to say, my husband is not allowed to leave a review about his negative experience. We still have no idea what exactly happened at the appointment, but thank God they didn't go through with the whole procedure. My experience began about a year ago. Made an appointment for a free consultation about snap in dentures. Met with Dr. Karr at that time seemed very nice and professional. He provided a good over all explanation of snap in dentures. After a couple of weeks of consideration and discussion with my wife I still had some questions and requested to meet with Dr. Karr again. I was told that a re-consultation would be $155. Met with and did get my questions answered. This was somewhere around October. I let them know I would get back with them after the first of the year as I had a back procedure scheduled as well as him replacement surgery in December. As fate would have it I had a molar that became infected and had to have it surgically removed. I went to this appointment fully expecting Dr. Karr and to my surprise it was one of his assistants who removed my tooth. Next contact was in January and I advised them could not start any procedure until I was cleared by my surgeon which would be at the end of March. We set up an appointment for April to begin process. Well then we have Covid19 and April start is not an option. In May Texas began allowing elective surgeries again. I called to set up an appointment but told them I would like to discuss with Dr. Karr options of upper denture and lower implant or upper and lower dentures. Now once again this requires another consultation fee of $155. Begrudgingly I agreed. Ok now for the July 17th appointment disaster. Appointment is for 10:00 a.m. I am finally taken back to room and told Dr. Kim will be shortly. I inquire who is Dr. Kim, am advised that he is new assistant to Dr. Karr. I make it clear that I made an appointment to see Dr. Karr. Nurse advises that she will let Dr. Karr. know. I sit in dental chair for 30 minutes and she finally comes back in to tell that Dr. Karr says has seen me before and does not need to see me. She tells me that she is going to take to the finance office to discuss options. There I meet a very rude young man named Kevin. I tell him immediately that I want my consultation fee of $155 (which you have to pay in advance) since I have had no consultation. He tells me that is what he is going to do. I tell him he is not a doctor and that I paid to have consult with Dr. Karr. He starts referring to as bro, I let him know that my name is Gary and he is not my bro. He then states he is going to bring his supervisor in to which I reply that would be fine. Well 30 minutes later he returns with Dr. Karr. I ask about upper dentures and lower implants which will run $11500. He advises that this works well for most people. I then ask about custom dentures upper and lower, which will run $8600), he advises that he cannot tell me how well this will work. I ask what is custom about them, he advises they are molded to my mouth. Aren't all dentures molded to the person's mouth. At this point I just give up, I have encountered a young rude assistant, a Dr. who did not want to see me but did want my money, twice. As a result I no longer have any trust or confidence in Advanced Dentistry or Dr. Karr and his staff. As a sidenote I did notice that most of his office staff has turned over in the past 10 months. BEWARE OF THIS DENTIST!!! I had the all-on-four implants done by Dr. Kaar over a year ago. NIGHTMARE!! Long wait times EVERY appointment; other than surgery, the dental assistant works on you (unsupervised & no experience with implants), not Dr. Kaar, and it's a different person every visit due to the extremely high turnover. He is rude and yells at his staff. After nine try-ins and almost a year, my final implants looked TERRIBLE. I don't know These high dollar implants barely showed and totally changed the look of my face. I went to another provider and found out 2 implants were failing. Dr. Kaar never did a final scan to check the condition of the implants. They were inserted far into my nasal cavity which caused an infection. The bungling care and greed exercised by my previous dentists caused me to realize the true quality of Dr. Kaar's practice. He handled every aspect of my healing from the second opinion I requested to the actual installation of my crowns. This is not one of those assembly line operations. He made his own observations even when I offered my previous dental records. He listened to me when I told him I wanted three implants to replace teeth some of which had been gone for forty years and another a recent extraction. He put together a plan accordingly and the administrators at the office helped me with my limited financial situation by allowing discounts. They made me feel like a member of their team. Dr. Kaar scheduled regular sittings where he checked the progress of my gums and bone healing. He fitted me with excellent quality appliances which gives me teeth at places where teeth have not been in forty years. I had an implant done here after Dr. Kaar pulled the broken tooth, and am satisfied with the result. However, a few months later for my cleaning, the hygienist's work was extremely painful. I think hygienists rotate in and out of this facility, so you may not get the same lady that I saw, but the one who treated me was measuring my "pockets", and each measurement was extremely painful. I mean, I've got like 28 teeth and each one got probed 6 times, I think. It was excruciating. And the thing is, it's unnecessary. They are simply monitoring your recession, but they can't DO anything about it. So here they are putting you through a very painful procedure for absolutely good purpose. I went to another dentist who said she doesn't measure pockets for exactly that reason: It's painful and pretty much useless. So don't let your hygienist measure you recession here, or for that matter at ANY dentist's office! read more

This is my second review, The first review was deleted because Advanced Dentistry said It was defamatory and threated to sue me. I had discussed the problems with Dr. Karr after he read my first review. He told me that his staff problems had since been rectified and that I should retract the review. The first problem was payment policy, I was told before I started with him by his office staff that they had received approval from Dr. Karr for a waiver to pay after each phase of my dental implant surgery despite their written policy that they insisted I sign.. After the procedure started the next time I came in, I was told the doctor had changed his mind. The second problem was I initially told the office staff that I did not want to pay another $338 after the surgery to get any type of warranty despite their written policy, Again I was told they would take care of any problems initially at no extra charge, then when I finished the surgery, I was told they insisted on another $338 payment to get any type of warranty. Since I did not pay for the warranty, I have no recourse with an ill fitting dental implant that gets food stuck in it after every meal. I have checked with other orthodontist in the area, they all warranty their work for at least one year with no additional payments other than the initial agreed dental implant procedure price they quoted.
