I came with inflammation in my hands and the doctor said my hand looks "normal". I haven't been working and I NEED my hands to work. I handle food. I'm a chef/ barista. I have been dealing with itchy hands whenever I work for even one day. Even tho I use creams like aquaphpor and exederm and do my best to protect my hands with gloves etc . DONT waste your money here she literally recommended me the same lotion (aquaphor) and some fragrance free nuetrogena lotion. THEY DONT CARE. Arriving here for the first time - it was packed , very long waits and in different rooms. Went here for a severe eczema breakout all over my face /eyelids and arms/elbows. Once I saw the doctor they basically seemed to want me to get in and out as fast as possible. No seem of care or getting to know the patient. They prescribed me two ointments - and what these ointments did was make it 10x worse - was even more inflamed and bloody. Eyes were always blurry for an ointment they gave me that's not meant to be near eyes apparently. After months of trying the stuff they prescribed me, I gave up. It got so bad. Finally found a new dermatologist in East Northport and OMG this lady was so sweet and caring. She prescribed me everything I needed. My eczema had cleared up after 5 days !! Please don't go to advanced dermatology - they don't know what they are doing. read more

These people are so unprofessional. I called 6 times to get a refill on prescriptions and they don't answer but the second I call and press to "make a payment" they answer right away. And they transferred me back to prescriptions and they still don't answer. Also I've had a rash on my legs for 2 months and they don't want to biopsy it bc it's "not needed" but the rash hasn't gotten better after 3 different ointments and 3 different pills. read more

All the staff have attitudes and really could care less about us. they young assistants are the ones who are doing the work and there attitude is horrendous. it's clear that everyone in the office doesn't care about their job. I had made an appointment for early today and decided not to go since I was so upset yesterday, after receiving 6 phone calls from the office staff to confirm my appointment and give them my insurance information. Why would they call me 6 times to confirm my appointment and ask me the same questions. In the last call, I asked why there were so many confirmation calls and asked me for my insurance if I gave my insurance information the day I scheduled my appointment? I hanged up since I was at work and disturbed so many times. After I hanged up the call, I received 3 more calls. So upset and very disrespectful and unprofessional staff! I had to give a star. 56 minutes ago I have been a long time patient of Advanced Dermatology for years, never had any issues until I went recently for a treatment of the face (V-Beam) as well as Botox & fillers.. The Dermatologist I have always used had recently left the practice. She had done these procedures on me before as well as many others.. Now, a New Physician Assistant has taken over her roll. ( Jie Chen, MPAS, RPA-C). Procedure was done on12/08/2023. At this appointment I was very early so I waited in the car noticing The PA in her car adding make up. When I walked in there were appointments before me & Because of this I was delayed seeing her for my appointment 9:15. She was still in her car at 9 AM. She must have been running late.Her patients scheduled before had to wait as well-not a good start, but this is the least of it. So now I get the V-Beam. She assures me her technique for all procedures is like no other, that she will do the best job over anyone I have used in this practice. Next, I see a sign if you get a small amount of Botox 1 of the fillers will be half of the regular price $450.00. She felt I needed 2-sides of my cheeks where I have lines. In total my bill was over $2,000 & she insured me I would have major improvement-even gave me her Cell # if I had any questions for I never did Botox before.The V-Beam laser was for red lines I had mainly on my cheeks. I was told I might need a second treatment later on for another $600.00 which was fine for this procedure. Later finding out this procedure is so outdated and it is very temporary-all will re-appear. Well it has been 1 month and they all re-appeared. As far as the botox above my eyebrow she injected-now my left brow is higher than the right. The 2 fillers used made bumps on both sides of my cheeks that feel like boils under the skin. Later also learned from the plastic surgeon I visited, Both were not correctly massaged leaving me these huge bumps. Well, I contacted the office (DENISE) on several occasions and was told when Jie Chen, the PA comes back in she will discuss with her as well as the head of the accounting department. I never received a phone call back so hear I go again calling, 4 times telling me Denise was in a meeting and will get back to-Never did. NOT GOOD Customer service. While texting the PA she totally ignored me. (I have all the texts saved). Finally I had a friend try to reach Denise using another name, and what happened -she came to the phone. Knowing it was not me, she answered. I took the phone and Denise told me the accounting manager was working from Home and would get back to me the next. day. Finally got Denise on the phone days later. She made it like she did not know anything about any of this.. Just crazy. So now I am left with bumps on sides of cheeks. Going back on my review here-when I did go back to the PA she said, OH NO- you are going to need so much more fillers & would not recommend a facelift since this is scar free even though it will only last a year. She said (this all on 12/22/23)- I would need a cheek/Jaw line fillers. Now she never told me at the start. Why would I even start with the fillers if she did not tell me this. I am not made of thousands of dollars. Dr. Chen, said don't worry I will make you look beautiful without a face lift. A few days ago I receive a voicemail from Denise that she had spoken with The Pa, Jie Chen & Said she would remove the fillers but still charge me the full price. I had recently seen a few specialists, and as I said before, they agreed, she had not massaged the fillers completely, leaving bumps. So now I will have them removed elsewhere & Still have lines going down, with or without the fillers. What a waste of money! Do not recommend this PA! read more

Terrible office management and reception. Nineteen year old daughter had nothing but issues at every single appointment for the last two months. The most recent, she drove to her confirmed appt (THREE TIMES CONFIRMED) to find the office closed, doors locked and lights off! She was 15 mins EARLY for the appt. No call, no text, no communication to explain why they closed without seeing her. I assume it was an emergency on the provider's end BUT that is why you have reception to call the patients to explain this BEFORE leaving! Very unprofessional "advanced" dermatology office. Daughter learned her lesson, don't go to an office just because they have openings, go to a reputable, professional office...always! read more

I am going to write 2 reviews - this one for the staff and the other for the doctor. Do not call or email for an appointment. The staff has you on hold for 10minutes, and they do not email you back. You are better off going in person to make the appointment. When I had to fill my prescription for 2 things, they gave me a service from out of state to call because they were the cheapest. I called the service - one prescription was ready in 2 days, free shipping. The other prescription was not ready for 8 days! There was a mix up with the dosage. The service called the doctor's office to verify the dosage. The office took 4 - 5 days to call them back. read more

There is a serious scheduling issue with the Commack office. I had a 6:15pm appt and received a call around noon that they had an opening at 3:45 if I'd like to come earlier. I agreed to come earlier and rearranged my afternoon so I could make the earlier appt. I arrived at 3:30 and noticed a very crowded waiting room. Numerous patients were complaining to the receptionist that they were waiting up to an hour. I should have been warned at that point but I checked in with the receptionist anyway and found a seat. And I waited and waited and waited....Finally at 5:15 I couldn't wait anymore since I had to go to another appointment. I informed the receptionist that after waiting over an hour and a half I had to leave. She apologized for the wait and asked me if I wanted to reschedule. In disbelieve I told her I'd get back to her. At that point I wasn't sure if I wanted to laugh or cry. Needless to say I think it's best to find a practice that respects and values their patients. IF YOU DON'T WANT A LONG WAIT DO NOT COME HERE. Every time I've been here the waiting room is full and I waited twice for over an hour with my 1 year old son. Luckily this wasn't during the pandemic! Since this has happened every time there seems to be a significant scheduling issue there. Today there was only one receptionist up front who was visibly and vocally overwhelmed. I had to call and speak with 4 different people to try getting a form filled out for my son's daycare. The daycare said the form is standard and other parents say it's quick and easy. He has an extremely mild case of eczema (quoted from the doctor) and needed a form signed so that if ever needed they could apply the ointment at school. The 4th person I spoke to said they do not accept emails or scans so being I don't have a fax machine I had to physically go to the office. She said it would be just a few minutes. I went and waited 30 minutes only to find out they couldn't sign it. Their reasoning was because he hasn't been seen since it was prescribed. Well, he hasn't been seen because the prescription when needed was working just fine as it should. The doctor also gave me a prescription that she said would last a very long time and to call only if I had any concerns. I didn't have concerns so therefore I had no reason to bring him in. There was really no logic to my conversations and I felt as if I was talking to a wall. A task that could have and should have taken a few minutes turned into almost 2 hours of my day wasted between time on the phone and in office. The worst part is if they were unable to sign the form I should've been notified immediately instead of sitting there for 30+ minutes. Do yourself a favor and choose a different office. read more

The reason I'm giving them one star is solely based on waiting room time. I've been here for one hour and still have not been called in. In 2019, waiting an hour in the waiting room is unacceptable. Either upgrade your scheduling software or get rid of the hard copy paperwork because what you are doing is not working. I'm a new patient and will not be returning. I don't care how good the doctor will be, I took off from work, have another appointment I have to be at in an hour and a half and who knows how long it will be till I get out of here. I have never been so livid in my life. I made an appointment with this office. Showed up promptly and they had no record of my appointment. Instead of accommodating me, since it was quite clearly their error, they told me sorry we cannot fit you in. I was willing to wait till the end of the doctors office hours but they said no. I made this appointment because I needed to be seen about an urgent matter but they still were not willing to fix their error and fit me into their schedule. It's not like I was getting my hair blown out, I was there because of an infection. I found this to be quite disgusting behavior. I wish I read the reviews prior to making an appointment. The staff was nice but my appointment was at 11:15 I arrived at 10:50 and was not seen until 11:50am. People who arrived after me were seen before I was. I had an appointment with Dr.Morales and I will never go to him again. He was very useless. He cared very little about what was going with my skin and asked me nothing in regards to what may be causing it. I also asked him about marks from acne and how to lighten or remove them and he shrugged his shoulders and said they were just there. I informed him my friend had gotten rid of hers after going to her dermatologist and he said " well maybe you should go to her dermatologist then" letting me know that he was clearly uninterested in anything I had going on with my skin. So yeah I was very displeased after waiting an hour to be seen and rushed in ten minutes also to leave feeling as if I had just wasted my time and gained nothing. After leaving the room a staff member who was in the room apologized on his behalf and gave me a card for another dermatologist. I definitely do not recommend Dr.Morales at all!!! read more

Melissa Sanoff-Wiener was very nice, pleasant. No complaints on that front. One of the receptionists was absolutely miserable. She was yelling at kids to sit down even though they weren't being that irritating, barely greeted me and overall her demeanor was just awful. Shaking her head, rolling her eyes, sighing, because it was "so busy". Even worse? My appointment was confirmed for 1 PM, so I showed up at 12:30 as I was a new patient and had to fill out forms. I'm sitting there for a while, and it's now 1:15 when the receptionist comes out and says, "You know your appointment is 1:45, right?". I was like...no, it's 1 PM, which I said when I signed in. She was like, "Yeah it's 1:45". I showed her the confirmation, she said she couldn't read it, and then said "I take your word for it". No apology, no nothing. Not saying it was her fault, but it seemed kind of shady and they just bumped me without telling me. Absolute bull as I showed up early and took the day off for the appointment. Would have been nice to have the slightest bit of an apology for wasting my time. There was another woman in there who was in a similar situation, and she swore her appointment is an hour earlier. The receptionist and the other women behind the desk then proceeded to speak poorly about her, without whispering. Highly unprofessional. Won't go here again because of how rude she was. Dr. Flashner was great, she gave me straightforward answers and did not try to sell me anything. She actually told me to try Botox and fillers before I considered a mid lift. Also, she said the proof is not in yet on the effectiveness of Ultherapy which Dr. Oz was promoting on his show. The cost of the visit was only $150 & she burnt off at least 12 sebaceous hyperplasia spots on my face. Can't wait to continue treatments with her and her team! I have no affiliation with their practice at all, I have been to many many dermatologists in my life so I would say I am a good judge. Terrible service, waited in the aptly named "waiting room" for over 50 minutes. In my business that would be a major give back. The staff was rude, abrupt and unhelpful. When I asked for my co-pay back because my time is as valuable as the doctors, the staff told me the doctor is running late. My question: how is this my problem? The girl at the front desk then strong armed my daughter for the $20 that I took back for the long wait. I suggested to the gestapo that if you're running 1 hour late you need to fix how you schedule appointments. Our family will be finding a new dermatologist office to visit. I had been looking for a new dermatologist for a while now and after speaking with a friend, I called the office right away and made an appointment with Dr. Rabinowitz. She was great! Very professional, friendly/kind, thorough, etc. As soon as she walked in the room, she automatically knew the reason for my visit before looking at my chart or me having to explain. She went into detail about the things I should and should not do for my skin condition and prescribed medicines for it. It has been 2 weeks since my appointment now and I am incredibly thankful to her for making me feel more confident and comfortable in my own skin! I can see such a difference already!! read more

Superb service. Have had concerns about skin cancer due to family history. Melissa addressed my concerns and identified every "spot" which peaked my interest. Over the years she has removed numerous spots on my face and body in an effort to stave off potential cancer. My appointments are confirmed by phone two days before, and the wait-time for my appointments has never been more than 15 minutes. She is one of the few medical professionals I have seen who genuinely appreciates my time and my concerns. read more

I went there once, everything was ok, nothing extra bad or fantastic. I called back to make another appointment - whatever receptionist I was talking to would not let me speak. I was simply asking about their cancellation policy and the receptionist would put me down when I contributed to repeat that's not what I was asking about. Having worked in the medical field for over 8 years, this is very unprofessional from a receptionist. Due to this awful experience over the phone, I will not be returning. Lately I've been a frequent flyer at Advanced dermatology in West Islip. This review is long overdue I have found the staff to be kind, considerate and caring they remember you and they always say hello with a beautiful positive greeting. The office manager is always there to assist if there's any questions. I can't say enough about Dr Aza Lefkowitz who is the most kindest gentlest man ever. And I recently saw the PA Melissa who is beyond outstanding takes her time and really you feel like you're being heard. I'm the kind of person who never goes back to a doctor with bad bedside manner. The doctors I have seen have been ok, one seemed to be in a rush and seemed to be in & out of the exam room as quick as possible. The wait time is longer than I would like. I am really disappointed in the staff that updates the charts, as my prescription has be messed up several times and even sent to the wrong pharmacy once.
