I have PCOS and the chin hair problem was completely out of hand. Doctors warned that laser can actually make the hair regrow worse, and suggested electrolysis. Camille was within walking distance of my apartment in Brookline at the time and immediately fit me in. On the first day she clearly explained the two different zaps she would test with and see which my body responded best with. She has worked with trans people and people with PCOS so I knew I was in good hands. She talks to you to distract you from the little zaps, which I appreciate, and the time always went by quickly! We had a lot of work to do, so that winter went once a week (my situation was REALLY DIRE, like dwarf beard) and after a few months we slowed to once every other week, then by summer once per month, and now it's been three years and I plan to pop in for a touch up in the fall as it's been about 7 months. I could consider myself done already as it's only a few VERY LIGHT nearly invisible blond hairs that nobody but me would even notice, but I love how perfectly baby smooth my neck/chin is since going to Camille, and I like to pop in for a zap rather than reach for the tweezers. I gave up tweezers as soon as I started seeing her. All this is to say, it's life-changing. If you have PCOS and have been haunted by your Hagrid chin, go see Camille. She'll fix you up. I really was excited and wanted to like this. Camille is great however, I am still recovering 4 weeks later with persistent hyperpigmentation. Thankfully it only looks like acne but I did have to seek treatment as I thought my skin burned (it did not). After my initial treatment it looked like I got punched in the face that's how red it was. I've received electrolysis before and have never had this reaction. It also was very painful (when previously it had not been). I don't think the settings were right and I will not be trying it here again. In the meantime I'm hoping this red spots go away and my face heals. read more

I love Camille and Advanced Electrolysis! A little background: I had been going for *weekly* electrology sessions at another professional for 10 months before I found Camille. I was unhappy with the results and the fact that I had been going for so long yet barely noticed a change (if anything, I felt like there was MORE hair.) I met with Camille and a few minutes into the consultation I realized why the other place I had been going to was not successful-- they were tweezing my hairs after 1 or 2 zaps, without killing the root-- of course the hair kept coming back! For those who are complaining of scarring, I question if you listened to her aftercare instructions. ** THE BEST FOR MEN ** I have known Camille since 2001, when I was an undergrad at Harvard College. As a man, my girlfriend at the time introduced me to Camille, and she literally changed my life. I had horrible eyebrows that I had been plucking for years with ingrown roots. Camille sculpted beautiful, masculine, timeless eyebrows that I regularly get complements on today. She did other parts of my body (beardline, back of neck, feet) and did an exquisite job there. I feel so much more confident about myself now. She also did laser work on my back, which worked out great. Since then, I never let anyone else touch my body. I now live in California but come back to visit Camille in Boston if I need any other work done. Not only that, but my mom, dad, and 3 siblings have all seen Camille. My mom will drive 5 hours from NJ to see Camille because there's no one else like her. Seriously. It's a matter of trusting her as a practitioner and as a person, and trusting her judgment. She's wicked smart and has a great aesthetic, and she is extremely meticulous and thorough and thoughtful about every hair removed. I have complete faith in her. Talking to my friends who got electrolysis and laser, I will say that her prices are extremely fair. Using advanced electrolysis caused permanent scarring and pitting on my face that has been there for almost a year. I wish I could go back in time and undo the damage that has been done. Very disappointing experience. I will be choosing a different electrolosist for my future appointments. I am loathe to write this review, as Camille truly is a very lovely woman, as evidenced by all the posts on this page. That being said, I cannot endorse her as an electrologist. I have been doing electrology for almost a decade (I started with my eyebrows, which are basically done, and have moved onto other problem areas around my face), and I have struggled to find a good electrologist in the Boston area since moving here not long ago. Sadly, Camille is possibly the most incompetent electrologist I have ever gone to. I grant that it was my first appointment and that she needed time to adjust settings on her machine to my personal needs, etc. That being said, I was there nearly an hour, and she barely removed any hair at all. She spent more time fiddling with her machine than she did actually getting hair off my face. As a busy professional, who has time for that! (As a caveat, she did end up charging me for only half an hour because she realized how little work she had actually done on my face.) I am also no stranger to electrolysis, as I mentioned above. I have NEVER experienced so much pain at electrolysis as I did with Camille. I was having so much pain from the short wave electrolysis that eventually she switched to the galvanic, which did hurt less. She also assured me that the advantage of galvanic electrolysis is that it results in almost no prolonged redness / bumpiness to the skin (in the short term, it does make your skin quite irritated, but she told me that this fades within 20-30 minutes). However, my skin is still quite red and even burned looking where she did the galvanic electrolysis. I have never had this type of reaction to electrolysis before. I am sorry to write such a negative review because like I said, Camille truly is a nice person. But, at the same time, a skilled electrologist should be able to remove hair efficiently, competently, and with as little pain as possible. I do not think Camille has these attributes. read more

Camille is by far the best electrologist in town! I absolutely love her. I found her years ago through yellow pages and I am so thankful that I did! I spent years and lots of agony trying to get rid of unwanted hair. I tried plucking, waxing, and even laser years ago but nothing worked and it ended up making it worse. After many sessions with Camille I was able to get rid of this hair once and for all! I can't tell you what an amazing feeling it is to show your face and body with confidence, knowing that there is no more unwanted hair. It has completely changed my life. I cannot recommend electrolysis - especially Camille - enough! I have tried groupons for other places that do laser and they don't even compare. The salons are sketchy, the staff are rude and pushy, the results are lack-luster making you go back time after time. With Camille I am always satisfied. Not only is Camille extremely knowledgeable, thorough, and has the best tools - but she is so sweet! I spent the whole hour just chatting to her because it's so easy to talk to her and you can talk to her about anything. Personally I don't find electrolysis to be very painful but this depends on your pain threshold. Camille will have a consultation with you before you start any procedures and will adjust the level of the machine to make sure it's comfortable for you. Camille is the best. I had consultations with many electrologists before I finally settled on Camille. She was warm and engaging, has been in practice many years, and you can tell she loves her job. Don't be afraid to speak up! She will adjust your treatment according to the feedback you give her about how your skin heals up, and what you experience after your session. She knows her stuff, she's funny, and she's honest. Camielle answers her own phone, so no need to go through a receptionist. To be honest, its nice when she takes a call and you get a mini-break from the electrolysis haha. She's able to keep her overhead low, and her prices fair. And her flexibility is AMAZING. Camille is awesome. I saw her regularly years ago and she completely eradicated my significant facial hair. Yes, electrolysis is painful - if it's not, I doubt you'll see the benefits. I use EMLA cream and it helps with the pain. Trust me the more current you can tolerate, the quicker you'll see results. Camille knows electrology inside and out and will never steer you wrong. Camille is a nice lady and I felt comfortable going to her however...I had been receiving treatment on sides of face for about 7 months. Permanent hair loss was definitely happening and I was really excited about that. I went out to dinner one night and was in a very bright bathroom when I noticed pitting and scarring on the sides of my face. I was so shocked and freaked out and never went back. I can still see the pitting and scarring in certain light which has given me a new thing to be insecure about. yay. I did alot of research and learned that the pitting and scarring happens from incorrectly performed electrolysis or temperatures that are too high. I remember her explaining to me why the heat was going to get turned up. Not to mention every session i had with her was a half hour and she talked so much I think she did about 10 minutes of work. I recently moved out of Boston, and I am now struggling to find a replacement service that meets Camille's high standard. Her office is very clean, and actually feels more like a doctor's office than a spa, but this actually made me feel more comfortable. During my consultation she explained the process thoroughly but simply and encouraged me to try out a few areas to see if I would need to ask a doctor for anesthetic cream.
