I had an unpleasant experience with this business. They attempted to move the appointment to a time that was more convenient for them and when I was not available. I told them to cancel and I would reschedule based on my availability. I then 24 hours later receive an email with confirmation with the original time, instead of the cancellation. By that time, I had made alternative plans but because this was 24 hours before the actual appointment a $75 charge was required to cancel. When I arrived, the technician was forceful and slimey with her business dealings. When I told her this was maintenance for previous treatment performed prior to moving to Boston, she proceeded to insult an entire city of people as though they were low class. They verbally quoted one price and wrote a different price in contract. When I corrected them, it was given a rebuttal and then ultimately changed again when I declined the service. This lets me know they make up pricing on the fly and based on who is in front of them. One service I wanted to save for another day, but she insisted on performing the day of consultation (to get the money) even though I did not have time. She then made up another day for me to come back and told the scheduler to schedule me at that time, even though I did not request that time. I think they have unethical practices and I will not be returning. I will fly back to my original dermatologist and aesthetician for better service. read more

I am in love with Lana and the results I've seen after my laser hair removal sessions with her! Even after a single session I had almost virtually no unwanted hair growth in the treated areas. I've been coming to Cosmetic & Laser Center for over a year and have seen notable progress in reduced hair growth. The laser tech I see is also super friendly and professional. Why I'm writing this review: As many people have noted, laser can be painful so since my first appointment I have been coming 30 minutes early to apply a numbing cream they keep behind the counter. I called to confirm my appointment earlier this week and noted I plan to arrive early for numbing cream. When I arrived, the lady at the front desk said there would now be a $20 charge to use their numbing cream (she said it's hard to get now and management has put this new policy in place). I was given the cream (and asked to use just a little) which had maybe a teaspoon left of medication (for reference, l usually use about a teaspoon). I used about half my normal amount- 1/2 teaspoon and went to kill time before my appointment. In that time, I found the cream online at several places for under $15. I likely could have walked to the CVS Seaport and got an entire tube for under what I was charged to use a TINY amount. I explained my frustrations to the woman at the front desk, and while I know she is executing a new policy from management, this felt wrong on several levels. read more

Positively 5 stars! I am a photographer. Last spring 2 of my own clients told me about Cosmetic and Laser Center. One had laser done to get rid of facial hair before her wedding. Another had a "vampire facial" 3 times, now her face looks much younger. Good timing for her head shot)). Both loved it, so I went to try the place out. My own impression: great service, skilled and fun staff, and I dig the results. So far I've had 2 sessions of "holographic facial" with Picoway laser. So...I am thrilled with the change I see after 3 months. Had to take a break, as it happens, doing laser over a tan isn't a thing. Finally! I've scheduled my 3rd appointment and can't wait. So, I just left here without getting anything done. As he was preparing the Botox, the doctor asked me if I believe in evolution, and I said that I do. Then he started to argue with me, asking me how you can get a lion from an elephant, a human from a monkey. Look, I'm not sure I want anyone with such little understanding of science injecting anything into my face, but I certainly don't want to support a business with such poor customer service as to argue with clients, hitting them with a barrage of (stupid) questions. If you don't believe in science and/or you like a doctor who likes to attack people sitting in his chair, about to have a procedure, this is the place for you. As for me, there are too many Botox places in Boston to support a doctor who would act that way. read more

I have absolutely loved getting my laser treatments here! Right from the start Lana made me feel comfortable and happy with my results, as during my consult she did a spot test on my leg. It didn't hurt a bit, and that's coming from someone who stopped laser treatments in the past because the pain was unbearable and the numbing cream was very expensive. Lana gives me some of the numbing cream (free of charge) for my sensitive areas before we start and by the time we get to those places I seriously don't feel a thing. Besides the great customer service, this one small detail has really sealed the deal for me. Throw in the fact that my 5 treatment ares only take about 45 mins, and you can see why I've told all of my friends about this place multiple times over. I just finished my third treatment and I'm so happy with my results. Some follicles are more stubborn than others, but overall I essentially go the entire time without shaving between treatments since my hair comes in slowly, light, and fine. I highly recommend seeing Lana for your laser procedures and investing in yourself this way! It's expensive, but worth it! read more

Last time I went in for a touch up she rushed through my session because she said they were behind schedule, spent less than 3 minutes in the room. OK. It was my first time getting Botox, so I came in with a lot of questions and concerns. I wanted some minor fillers as well that I had done extensive research on and they basically told me they could not do them on me because I was too young...I'm 27. Felt like I was getting rushed out of the room instead of having the process thoroughly explained to me. No mention of after care procedure until it was emailed to me hours later. It also seems like they make up pricing as they go. I got 10 units and the first time I asked for the price it was $120. The second time I asked, just to confirm it was $140. It all seems a bit unprofessional. I feel like there are a bunch of other places I could go that would offer a more reassuring and fun experience. I would give this place a C rating.. read more

I had precisely the same experience with Lana that Meg N describes below, and felt obliged to pile on: C&L, notably Lana, are out to take your money and that may mean pushing treatments that you don't ask for, don't need, and can even be dangerous for you. Lana was pushy and underplayed the pain, risk and recovery required by microneedling treatment (by the way, I since leaned that C&L does not have the latest technology here -- much less invasive versions available elsewhere). I had no benefit from the treatment, it was extremely painful (and I have a pain tolerance) and it was insanely damaging to my skin. I felt her approach was irresponsible, commissions driven and far from patient-first. I canceled subsequent treatments and also did not get my money back. read more

I had a great experience at this place. Marina was my laser hair-removal technician and she was very patient and knowledgeable too. I have had 6 sessions and I have seen great improvement (almost 90% reduction in hair growth and thickness). I have knocked off one star as I still see some hair growth and I need to shave, but not as regularly. I also haven't been to the follow up maintenance sessions so I am not entirely sure how long these results would last. But for now, I am one happy customer :) read more

I had a high expectation from this place and laser treatment. I did full face and I actually have more hair than before,thicker and denser. They hardly know what they are doing and it frequently become oblivious that they are missing spots as the hair grew back thicker and denser. Every treatment that I have been so far I mentioned her that you are missing the spot but she just shave the spot and let me go. Feels like I am there just to shave my face not for actual treatment. She never did the treatment properly, she is always in rush, always missing the spot. Even my husband can't tell that I had a laser treatment. I am so frustrated that I do not want to spend my money any more on touch ups. Please think wisely before you ever go here, just continue shaving at home instead of spending 1000 and 1000$ in treatment. I bought a deal for this place from LivingSocial for laser hair removal - $99 for 3 treatments. Recently went for my first treatment, which ended up being a consultation (does not count towards the 3 treatments - which is nice!). Victorya was very very nice and thoroughly explained the process and showed me how the laser worked. She did a test on one portion of my skin, which didn't hurt at all - need to wait 48 hours to make sure there's no adverse reaction. The place itself is very clean and professional. It has been approximately a year since my last laser treatment. Let me first start by saying the following: I have had six (6) previous treatments on the bikini and underarms area from a salon in Brookline with little to no results. Lana mentioned on the first consultation that her laser was more powerful than the one I had initially been treated with. I have had three (3) full-body treatments by Lana at Cosmetic Laser Center. Areas included are the following: full arm, underarm, face, (hairline, upper lip, sideburns, neck) stomach, bikini, full legs, hands and feet. Each session was approx. 45min - 1hour spread apart about 5 weeks. While Lana is friendly and courteous, I'm disappointed because I paid about $3,300 total and was ensured results after three sessions. Based on hair growth, one would never know I've received laser treatments. Unfortunately due to the lack of results, I'm not confident spending an additional $3,300 will be the solve-all. My friend who had referred me mentioned they offer a "guarantee" after 6 sessions on an area but charged her a $50 "touch-up fee" upon going in to address a few stray hairs. read more

Realized I should update my review after receiving a couple of personal messages asking me if I was happy with the end result? My answer? No. While I stand by my initial impressions that the staff is great and the facility is clean, in hindsight, I wish I hadn't wasted money on sessions. After my initial 6 (monthly) sessions, I did not do the recommended 6 week follow up treatments, which is probably why my results weren't what I was hoping for. I still have hair growth in the lasered areas and need to shave regularly. The whole reason I wanted to do laser in the first place was to eliminate the need to shave or wax. The service I have received here is wonderful - I started seeing Lana over 6 years ago for laser hair removal (I had a groupon for my underarms) and since then I've come back for more areas and the annual touch-up. Lana just got a new laser that is MUCH more comfortable than the Candela I started with. The only downside is that you must negotiate carefully on the price of your services and what they cover - I never know what a touch up will cost until it's done (but it's usually 20-50% the cost of waxing that area). read more

I had laser treatment for underarms for the last year, 6 sessions + 2 maintenance sessions. First they never mention the maintenance session during the treatment so it came as a surprise that after treatment I was still not done and had to pay again and again for additional sessions. Hairs were missed during treatment so I always have a few that I have to remove myself. It has been now a few months maybe 5 that I went for the last time and my hair grew back like a lot! I am so disappointed :( Talking with other patients that seems unusual but can happen apparently. You must ask before what kind of laser they have to offer and if they have different types, each laser doesn't suit everybody's skin... On a positive note, the place is clean, the staff is nice, my treatment was performed by Lana and she has always been very friendly. I've been to this place twice now for partial bikini laser hair removal. I can't say anything negative about it!!! The office is right across the river from Boston proper, a 5-10 minute walk from South Station. The staff is friendly and attentive. Lana is my esthetician, and I absolutely LOVE her. She's very warm and makes the whole process incredibly easy and not-awkward. The treatment can be a bit painful, but she chats the whole time to keep you distracted. She's also insanely quick. Like under 5 minutes for a whole session. I also saw significantly less hair after the very first treatment, so I'm excited to see even more results now. I have Asian skin and it hyperpigments like crazy. I scar and bruise super easily. Hearing about all the laser mishaps through others and online made me very nervous about getting laser hair removal. In the end, I decided to check it out. I asked for Christina after reading Yelp reviews and having her by my side every step of the way made the whole experience and procedure a huge success! The first day I met with her, we did a patch test, and she didn't pressure me to commit at all. She wanted to make sure my skin would be okay before moving forward. After the first session, my skin flared up for a couple of days, and obviously I was pretty concerned. I called CLC to try to reach her, but she was on vacation. A few minutes later, Christina calls me on her cell phone ON HER VACATION to check up on me. Christina deserves 5 stars for her professionalism and care for her clients. All the horror stories we hear about are due to untrained estheticians, and they give a bad rap for professionals like Christina. Considering how sensitive my skin is, the laser treatments have worked on my areas, with no scarring. There are occasional touch ups, but for the cost of all the sessions and potential future touch ups, it totally beats the cost of waxing sessions every month over a lifetime. This place is perfect in so many ways. I chose it after reading a tons of review and I am in full agreement after receiving my first treatment. Location: 5 minute walk from South Station on the Red Line. Very pretty walk :] Price: Very affordable but does not take away from the quality in any way. The consultation was free and I would wait to go when your hair is pretty long about 3 weeks post threading/waxing etc so that she can do the first treatment on the spot. I purchased the 3 treatment special for upper lip + chin for $150 and will do so one more time once my 3rd treatment is over for a total of $300 and 6 treatments. Cleanliness: Very clean place within a modern building/suite that also houses a dental office. Efficiency: These women are so efficient and this is what I appreciate the most! Very Disappointed! The rating does not match a little with my experience here! This place is like a black hole for your wallet. They are not transparent or honest with their procedures and prices. Every time I went there, they asked me over and over again to buy their discounted package but they never told you that you need more sessions (which is not cheap) or you need forever maintenance to keep you skin look the same way. They promised me after three sessions I will be all set but she never mentioned a word that this is temporary. Every time you think you are done, she would tell you that you need more sessions, which will cost you much more! Your unwanted hair follicles die, much like your sunny disposition during the rush hour commute. 2) Prices are reasonable: Actually, the three-session deal for underarms is a steal if, like me, you yearn to be free from the tyranny of frequent waxings. Just endure two minutes of feeling like being clawed by thousands of micro-cats, and voila! Hairless underarms, just like nature never intended. I have been seeing Kristen since April of this year for laser hair removal on my face and under arms. I have been happy with the treatments. The office is T accessible, clean, and well organized. They are very good about confirming appointments. I did not want to do a review right away since I needed to see how effective the treatments were over time. I noticed a significant difference in the earlier treatments. I am light skinned with dark hair so the underarms showed the most improvement. The face is a mixture of dark and light hair. I am about to go in for my 6th treatment. There is still hair, but it is thinner and I don't have to deal with it as often. I will be asking Kristen about maintenance and I know she will be upfront with me. My underarms looked great after 3 treatments, but there are patches growing back and I have to see if it is worth another 3 treatment package or if maintenance will be enough. So all this is to say I shave a whole lot less, but still shave from time to time. I like Kristen. She is efficient and professional. I did experience pain and she gave me some helpful suggestions to deal with it (2 ibuprofen and a numbing cream they sell for $45). I did a bit of research before picking CLC. It helped ease my anxiety to have a patch test done. Their prices appear to be competitive. I think I may have my legs done next. I also like that they let me know right away the one time Kristen was running late. This is huge with me as I have gone to salons and spas that pretty much ignore you as you wait. I still love this place. Been going for a little over a year now for new treatments and for touch ups and the results are significant. I love that it's summer and I don't have to worry about shaving. I just put on shorts or a dress and go. Lana is like a family member. We talk about all sorts of topics during my sessions and she makes me feel like I'm her favorite client (even if it's not true haha). They are not the cheapest in Boston, but someone will always be willing to do something cheaper even if it sacrifices quality. They do not lack quality, that's for sure. After leaving San Diego to come to Boston for college, my mother and I decided that the constant waxing and/or threading that I was doing to get rid of hair was too expensive and not a manageable routine for my schedule. That's when we began to research laser hair removal centers and I stumbled upon Cosmetic & Laser center. After reading a lot of great reviews, I decided to check it out. I went in for a consultation. The front desk staff was extremely nice and accommodating, as I both had a rather late appointment time and got lost on the way there, having never traveled to that part of Boston. Lana, the woman who performs the procedures, is such a friendly and kind person. After having 6 treatments and now two follow up appointments for hair removal on my upper neck, chin, upper lip, and sideburns, I can't even begin to explain how pleased I am with both the price and the results. Even after just one treatment, I noticed a HUGE difference. I still go back for touch-ups every now and then because I have a few hairs that are very thick and stubborn, but it was well worth the money. In addition, Lana often times has discounts running and I've found the price at Cosmetic & Laser center to be very affordable, but never would I qualify it as "cheap". The building is clean and beautiful, the staff is friendly and professional, and the results are to die for. Ekatharina is the best. I had laser for underarms, arms and bikini area. The the latter two are completely gone. Get one of unlimited treatment packages (for a particular area, i.e. you pay a certain amount-and you can have treatments until that area is hairless or you are satisfied with the amount of hair). I have been a customer this Medspa in Seaport Boston for few years. I am 40+years old:) I had various procedures done at Cosmetic and Laser Center. We started with microdermabrasion followed by Picoway laser genesis. It has been a life changing experience. They have amazing customer service and welcoming receptionists. Most of my treatments I do with Marina . She is very professional and educated aesthetician. During my last microdermabrasion I've tried their new IV treatment - multivitamin infusion with hydration. Karen- the Iv nurse made it literally painless . My skin looks and feels great. There is some negative, that I need to mention... it is quite cold in the treatment rooms, I asked to make temperature higher , and they told me it's not really possible.
