I recently rented a boat from this marina, but unfortunately, the steering broke. Despite our unsafe experience, the marina refused to refund us for the rental. This experience was life threatening and dangerous for every passenger on board. I strongly advise against trusting this business for your boating needs. Accidents happen, but when they do, you deserve a company that stands behind its business and takes responsibility for its actions. In this case, the boats themselves were unsafe, and the marina failed to provide any assistance or refund. I strongly encourage you to avoid using this business in the future. read more

The woman directing us even told the man in charge what happened and told him that it was her fault but he wouldn't even look at her and demanded we pay instead. He was very rude. I wish I could rate zero. Our group of 6 including elderly people rented the ski boat for 2 hours and paid $450. We signed waiver and paid $400 additional security deposit. After our rental, the propeller blade was damaged. Initially, the propeller blade was old and rusty. The front desk guy asked me to pay $265 for the part and labor, and I agreed. I asked for paper receipt for it, and he brought me hand written part' receipt of $365. And he demanded that I must pay $365 because he spent 5 minutes to make the receipt. I was very confused and asked if I could speak with manager. The lady named Katie came out of office, and she said that I should do bank dispute if I wish to. I asked for explanation how the damage cost would go up within 5 minutes, and she closed the door on my face. They did not give any concise explanation why they raised the blade charges. I have never been mistreated as a customer, and I was speechless. She grabbed my credit card and closed the door again on my face. I had to knock on the office door and to beg her to come out of her office as she still had my credit card. She told me that either take ur $20 or leave the property. At the end, I was left with $35 refund from the security deposit and mistreatment. No customer should be treated this way. Not only they charged me total of $810 but also they disrespected me as an individual. I was very embarrassed and I have never experienced such humiliation as a customer. I wish I would have read these reviews before booking. I rented a Pontoon for my Husbands 31st birthday, group of 8 people. We arrived 30 mins prior to out scheduled start time and our "captain" went in for his training. He comes out and we waited and waited and waited. 45 mins go by and they start to put us on a pontoon. Then they say that one is booked and we get off. Then they say they're sorry but they have to put us on a pontoon with a smaller engine and will refund us some money. So we go to get on that pontoon and its already been booked, we get off. THEN they say they're going to upgrade us to a more powerful engine and we go to get on that boat and the same thing happens. At this point my husband walks back to the office while this poor 14 year old dock boy is confused and embarrassed and awkward. Now some lady in the shop is telling my husband they might not have a boat for us....like what?! We have now been here almost 2 hours waiting for a boat that they JUST realized they don't have...? How does that even happen? I go in to see what is going on and the front desk lady tells me that the boat we reserved has not returned and they were to be back an hour ago. There are at least 5 boats docked with no one on them and no one waiting to board. Things are not adding up and she then says that due to inclement weather the morning reservations were pushed back 2 hours. So either this person was actually late, or he still had a 4 hour reservation and they did not contact afternoon reservations to let us know. She said that she called the boat renter and he had just gotten his food at Seacrets...what?! She never even uttered any type of "I am so sorry" or really even tried to explain what was going on. I tried to ask her if we should wait or just leave and all she said was "I will refund you." This was after 2 hours of waiting for a boat. The disorganization and lack of any type of customer service was appalling. I am ALL for understanding human error, but the way this situation was handled was mind blowing. If we had never gone in to see what was going on they probably would have continued to let us sit out in the heat for another couple of hours. I would never EVER recommend this company. read more

We called the morning of and they had a pontoon boat rental. The boat worked well and was clean and had a radio which was nice. They gave good instruction on how far up we should go to make it back before our 2 hours was up. We wish we had rented for 4 hours but had fun and would rent from advanced again. read more

We thought we needed to travel far away to find and purchase a new boat. We were wrong. Advanced Marina is a GEM right in OC. We respect that they are a true family business and somehow manage to get it all done while providing a personal experience where you don't feel like a number. They answer all of our questions and respond quickly to emails too. We really dislike pushy sales people, and luckily there aren't any at Advanced Marina. We found advanced marina after our original rental place had the boat out of commission. I called at 9:15am in a panic and advanced had the boat ready by the time we got there at 9:30. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. The dock hands got my kids fitted for life jackets and helped load the boat. The boat was sooo nice. It was an all around perfect day! So thankful for Advanced Marina and the wonderful staff for making it such a great day! read more

Mark and Susie are the owners and they couldn't care less about their customers. Horrible Marina with a staff that has been clearly trained to show no care to the guest. Place should be shut down. Mechanics don't seem to be trained or know their job. Manager is a piece of work (RD?). He should never be guest facing. I took my boat back to them 3 times with the same error code and they couldn't figure out that all it needed was new batteries that were about 3 years old. I'm not handy whatsoever but somehow fixed my boat even though "the professionals at Advanced Marina" had 11 days to work on it. They were rude and uneducated. Older female was very nasty to my husband and threatened to charge us for 20 minutes when her staff failed to communicate the oil light issue we promptly reported and turned around to address. Fortunately the younger gentleman who helped us with our boat was super nice and helpful. We tipped him well. No plans to use this company again. read more

- we reserved a speedboat a couple of days in advance but when we arrived, they only had a pontoon for us. We were pretty flexible and took the pontoon. - we were told that the time starts after we leave the dock, but we were charged for all of the time that took us to complete the paperwork - the boat itself was fine but we spent $400 there and they insisted on charging us for being an hour late when we were only 20 minutes late. They claimed thst they lost a sale because of it, but when we got back there were at least 5 similar boats just sitting there. We called the manager the next day and he said that the contract states that you'll be charged for a full hour, no matter how late you are. We were not informed of this, and the manager was less than nice when we called. There are plenty of boat rentals around, so I say go elsewhere. read more

This place has very strict policies! They do not care how much rain is coming down they will not allow you to reschedule if it's not within the 24 hour window! There was even a rip tide current warning yesterday! But rules are rules! You either take the boat out in the middle of the storm or you lose your entire deposit! Grreeat policy guys! We rent pontoon boats at least 5 times each summer, we usually rent from the place near Mackys or Harpoon Hanna's. We chose to try this place because the places we usually rent from were all booked up. This place was the WORST experience I have ever had! Before we departed, they took ONE photo of the motor. When we returned the boat they claimed that there was a small paint chip on the motor. They accused us of dragging the boat through the sand, which is highly unlikely because we did not drop anchor anywhere shallow. They would not show us the photos they took of the motor before, and they claimed that they took three photos. It looked like normal wear and tear on the motor that they tried to rip us off with. They charged us an additional fee upon our return. Rip off charge and they will rip you off too. Don't rent from here!!! read more

Please don't give your money or business to Advanced Marina. Our group rented a pontoon boat for 2 hours and had a terrible experience. Once out on the water, the front of the boat submerged and filled with water multiple times. It was so bad that the seats began to float and we felt too unsafe to navigate the boat back. We were scared and panicked and called Advanced Marina for help or advice and received neither. We were informed to enjoy our rental experience and keep boating despite us expressing our fear and uneasiness. We were able to get the boat back and found out that 4 or 5 other families had similar experiences. This establishment made no effort to inform anyone of the dangerous conditions of the water nor did they provide assistance as we were essentially stranded in the bay. The manager was rude, inconsiderate, arrogant and showed no empathy towards the guests that were all clearly shaken and upset. She then proceeded to call the cops and ignore the situation completely. No refunds were made. Advanced Marina and their staff showed no regard to the safety of their customers. They are a greedy establishment that provide terrible service. Please do your research and find a safer and better boating rental company to rent from! read more

terrible customer service !!!!!!!! was supposed to go out on a pontoon today called about an hour before our reservation when the rain had started they told us to still come were allowed to take the boat out but once we got there told us it is not safe on the water that we can't go out on the boat and refused to give us our deposit back because it is considered a cancellation.. when asked to speak to manager she refused to speak with us and turned away to the other room until the worker went and got her came back out and still had the young worker answer for her and told us there is nothing that could be done except wait and see if the rain clears up and told us we can't get our deposit back even if it doesn't clear up.. Wouldn't recommend going here. We ordered to have the boats for 4 hours and only had them for 2 hours. This was due in part to how long they made us wait to complete paper work and get the boat ready. This wait would all be fine if it didn't factor into our actual 4 hours. Also, the management there is not that friendly. They wouldn't let us use their bathroom when we returned. Moreover, when we were unloading the boat they proceeded to call the ocean city cops on us while we were unloading our boat. There was no provocation to this and no heads up from their management they were doing this or any rationale as to why. Very unprofessional and non-customer focused business. read more

TERRIBLE SERVICE! On 8/2, we rented a pontoon boat for 4 hours. 15 minutes later, we had to turn around because the front door latch would not stay locked and our boat was half submerged in the water. Luckily, my husband placed the boat on reverse and we were able to lock the latch and remove the majority of the water. We were on the boat for a total 30 minutes, round trip. Advance Marina, is not a customer friendly place. The owner is a money hungry and does not care about having returning customers! Refused to give us a refund, we were happy with a 50% refund but the owner refused. This exact same situation happened to 4 other families who were also trying to request a refund. The owner proceeded to call the police to have us removed from the property and avoid speaking to us. Due to all the families who returned we saved a 90-year old lady who was in a party who was going to rent a boat! Advance Marina should be ashamed and I cannot understand how they are in business. Made a reservation for jetskiing a few hours before coming and were told to get there 30 minutes before our actual reservation. When we got therre, we had to wait a total of 30 minutes past our reservation time before actually getting on the jetskis. **This place is all about safety (way too much if you ask me). They make you watch a video, take a written test, and demo before riding the jetski. I have been jetskiing several times at different places and this has been far the most strict. It is unnecessary to be that strict. I don't think I'd come back here to jetski unfortunately. read more

Boat was fine but not NEW like I was told. As a matter of fact we got only old pontoon that day. We were first ones there even before they opened and owner said obnoxiously we can't make any changes we are all booked. They could have given me a different boat and our boat to someone else on the old one they just chose not to. Like I said we were first there that morning and first to check in. Instead we had the boat with the leather that was turning yellow, tube hook on bottom side instead of centered in back and no new carpet like other boats had. I feel like early bird price wasn't all that either. I paid similar price other years down by Talbot for 4 hrs anytime of day and they say you get two hours free. All in all my kids had fun and that's what mattered but I don't think I'll go back. read more

The boat and experience on the bay was great but the service was completely inept. They don't have an answering service, we had questions due to weather and our session was due to start right at opening. However, no one was there there to answer our questions or even to leave a message. When we did arrive, we found there to be no parking. When we found a parking lot, thanks to another customer, it said "paid parking" for the marina. We had no clue if parking was included in our payment because no info was given to us nor signs directing us. We parked on the street. I am handicapped and there was no handicap parking spots regardless. When we finally found the office, the staff was unorganized. There was an older woman at the office door, short in temperament, who was not accommodating, and made it feel as if we were more of a nuisance than a paying customer. The video and staff gave info for our trip but nothing was given to us to take out for reference but a convoluted map that your average beach-vacationer won't understand. After waiting close to an hour for our boat, a young man taught our designated driver how to drive the boat, however he did not teach her how to put the boat into neutral which turned out to be a key component in turning on the boat and docking the boat. The four hours with friends on the water was amazing but as we made our way back in we were we criticized by an older "gentleman" for not "being one with the boat controls." How we "should never step into a boat without knowing your boat controls." Well, sir, you didn't seem concerned with our lack of "neutral" knowledge when your employees sent us on our way or when they took our $400 earlier today. If you have the time, money, and great group of friends I highly suggest renting a pontoon boat, just not from here. read more

please do not support this business. on august 2nd, 2020 several families rented a pontoon boat. we all returned to the marina due to unsafe conditions. the front end of our pontoon boat began to submerge under water. the front door/gate to the pontoon swung open wiping out some of our belonging out into the bay. we immediately returned to the marina within 30 mins of our 4 hour rental. we spoke to a woman who initially denied being the owner to only find out late she was. she refused any monetary refund. we were content with a 50% refund and thats all we wanted but were denied. their own dock worker had informed us on our return that the pontoon shouldn't have been out there under those conditions. but yet at no time during the booking were we notified a pontoon wouldn't be allowed or recommended. multiple families (4 or 5) all experienced the same thing. the way it was handled was extremely unprofessional and immoral. please consider other places and read the fine print on the agreements. place is a scam read more

Everyone was nice, boat was awesome. Got the "early bird special" on the Pontoon boat. Was advertised at $180, paid $240 total. $100 deposit, $340 total up-front for 4 hours. When I returned they said I did damage to the prop because the tide was low. Charged me $50. I figured $240 could cover the small amount of damage. I would have given them 5 stars if they had refunded me my full deposit. The tide was EXTREMELY low and nobody gave us any clear warning to be extra careful or the propeller might chip and they might charge me. I ran the boat extremely carefully and spent half the time anchored enjoying the sun and nature. The daughter seemed to think it was only about $25 in damage, but she had to check with her mom.Her mom was too busy to come out and talk to us and some unidentified guy kept yelling it was $50 in damage, so the daughter just refunded me $50 and apologized. Great place, I would go back. I wouldn't recommend going out during a low tide or you might pay more than you thought. Positive Notes: I was 1/2 late for the "early bird special" and they still honored it. Everyone seemed really nice and cordial upon arriving and while giving instructions. I was just rubbed a little wrong when it came to the whole deposit portion. Again, nice family business and nice equipment. Just make sure you understand the deposit and damage risk ( even extremely minor ) to the boat. Don't forget to SMILE, they will take your picture and pictures of the propeller. It was almost as if they expected us to damage it with the low tide. A little more heads up and something like "expect to pay up to $100 if you hit low tide". read more

I called 1 day ahead to see if they had any boat slips available at sunset island. I planned on having my boat there for 4 days. I arrived late in the day and decided not to launch my boat. I asked for a 1 day refund and they told me they only give refunds if there 30 days in advance. (I just booked it yesterday) OK, I understand I overbooked and that's how they do business but what really ticked me off is when I called ahead for the boat slip they told me it would cost $25 a day to store my trailer there. Not knowing any better and thinking they had a boat a launch, I paid for 4 days. When I got there, no boat launch and directly across the street there a big parking lot that charge's $10 a day to park boats, trailers, cars, ect. Once again they refused to refund my money. I walked away an unhappy customer and feeling like I got ripped off. I hope to never have to do business with these people again. read more
