I went to the Diamond Certified directory last night around 8:00pm thinking I could leave a message for the following day. Bill, the owner, picked up the call. We talked it through. I've used advanced plumbing a couple of times and I had a favorable opinion of them until the last time when I needed someone to come out and clean out our main waste line. The work was done quickly, and there was no problem with that aspect of the visit. However, the technician said he ran a videoscope into the drain and we were informed that the drain was damaged by roots and it had a bend in it and that there were two options to fix this - one for about $5000 and a complete replacement for about $13,000. A couple days later I asked them for the video so I could show another plumber and they did not respond so I had a second plumber take a video of the line. The line was in good shape with a very minor intrusion of roots and in no way in need of being replaced. This time I watched the video with the plumber and what I saw was a perfectly intact terra-cotta drain line with some very small rootlets and a very minor dip that was in no way impeding the flow from my house to the street. I'm in the process of selling my house so if I had simply taken their word for it, I would've been on the hook for thousands of dollars for a repair that was not needed. I thought very highly of advanced before this and I'm really disappointed. I also found out during my home inspection that a drain fitting adjacent to some work that advanced did several months ago is leaking. It looks like it has been leaking for some time and the tech that came out to fix the drain on my bathtub apparently did not notice. read more

I had a plumbing problem back in January where there was nasty water coming up from under the toilet. I called a different plumbing company and they came out same day and ran their snake line rooter thing out until they ran into a blockage and said that they'd need a special tool to come out the next day. The next day, they refer us to a sister company that ended up being hours late. I was so mad, I cancelled and called advanced and thank god I did. They sent carl and another worker out at the end of their workday and they surveyed the house and some preliminary recommendations. Eventually they realized that they wanted to run the same snake rooter line thing out at the other company did the day before. However, we had Carl running the line and with his experience was able to find that it was actually a soft blockage out near the street and worked his way through it several times. This was after he located the old piping in our house and where the blockage could or would have been. Carl went above and beyond, explaining every step of the way what he was looking for and why. And again, this was well past the end of a typical workday. He ended up saving us thousands using another company, and also saved us days of headache from not being able to use the toilets in our house. 10/10 service and couldn't recommend them higher. read more

Called asked if a specific service could be performed. I was told that they did perform the service I requested. I was told there would be a fee just to show up. I reluctantly agreed to it because I was told they could perform the services I was looking for. When the technician arrived he informed me they did not perform the type of work I needed to be done. The only thing he said he could do was run a camera through the line, which I already had done. It was a waste of my time and I was given false information as to what their ability was to perform the work I needed. I mistakenly paid the $125.00 service fee. After the technician left I felt mislead and felt I shouldn't be charged for a service that they well knew they could not perform. I contacted the company and requested a refund. I was told a manager would call me back, which he did not. I had to call back to follow up and when I did speak to him, he said he would review the initial recorded conversation. A few days later I again had to follow up on my own. The manager did agree and offered me a credit in any future service. I declined and requested a full refund. He indicated the owner would have to approve it and I would be receiving a call back. After several weeks of attempting to contact the owner I finally got a hold of him. His response was that I would not receive any refund or credit. He seemed to believe that his technicians offer to run the camera through the sewer line was sufficient enough to justify the fee. Bottom line I was lied to about what they were capable of doing and still had the audacity to charge a fee for a service they very well knew they could not perform. I normally focus on great service and provide great reviews and hardly ever complain. However, this experience is a notable exception... I called Advanced Plumbing told them I was referred and explained the problem in detail; Specifically that the dishwasher was backing and water was coming up over the sink and dripping into the sink and cabinet. I also explained that there seemed to be a lack of caulk or sealant between the sink and the granite at the back of the sink. They quoted $125 to show up at the door. I asked what the fee was for, they said because ¨we show up with a fully equipped truck capable of handling any problem¨ The technician was in and out in 5 minutes. The dispatcher calls tells me that there is water under the cabinet; the air gap is broken and the wood is wet so no work is done. I get a bill for $225 and when I look at the description the report is a couple of incoherent sentences. Followed the next morning by two phone calls demanding payment. During the first call I explained to the lady that I did not understand the report and didn't know what was found or what they did. That afternoon I get an updated invoice with slightly modified language in the report and still unintelligible. I still did not understand what the bill is for so I emailed them to ask. While driving I get a call to pay by phone and the lady insists I pull over to pay by phone safely. I hung up. The initial report (see below) was badly written, didn't know what they found and why they charged me an extra $100 for zero work. This is an illegal hidden fee. I again emailed and they responded that the additional $100 was for the ¨ADDITIONAL diagnostic fee and what was found¨ I emailed back and said $100 for 5 minutes translates to a hidden fee equivalent to $1200/hour for zero work. The next day I got an email from Bill, the owner, stepping into the conversation who acknowledged that I was unhappy. He also explained that the extra charge was for added value of the "ADDITIONAL diagnostics" I told him that the report contained the same information given to the dispatcher and I was not paying $1200/hour for him to tell me the wood was wet. He offered to reduce the bill to $125 because my last email let them know I would be complaining to the Better Business Bureau Bill the owner reduced the invoice to $125 and sent a full paragraph report written by him full of lies. He also put me on a Do NOt Service List. I decided to also share this with you all and have complained to the better business bureau, as these people are now in my DO NOT EVER USE LIST Below is the text of their first report and the text of the final report edited by Bill the owner after complaining multiple times and letting him know I would file a complaint with the BBB Text of Report #1 submitted with the first invoice: ¨The investigation of a leak below the kitchen is separated the stone and the sink because the wood no longer works the disposal throws water and the air gab too¨ Final Report - as modified by Bill the owner who never stepped foot anywhere near the property - all a lie. ¨Investigated leak under sink at customer's request. Spent minimum of 30 minutes at the house checking out all the functions of the various plumbing and connections as they relate to the kitchen sink. Found two main problems. First is the air gap which creates a separation between the dishwasher and the sanitary sewer system. The air gap is broken and needs to be replaced because it is currently leaking onto the top of the sink. And second, the sink is separating from the countertop because the wood support below the sink is degrading and causing it to separate. The more the wood is exposed to the water the worse the problem will get. Advised customer about the problems that were discovered. Customer was unhappy with the diagnosis and the resulting charges. In honor of #ServiceStarShoutOut, I would like to thank Advanced Plumbing & Rooter Service for doing some major plumbing work under our house. I will admit, this got to a rocky start, but after some back/forth, once we received a formal quote, we were ready to hire. To back track, we called them a few months ago when our toilet started gurgling (it has been doing that for a long time, we'd snake it and be able to make it work). We were in denial that there was a problem, but eventually the gurgling was frequent and it was due to the piping underneath. The tech who serviced it did a great job, he hydro-jetted the line and found tree roots. He recommended there were some areas that needed repair work, so we held out for as long as we could. Forward to last month, I followed up after my husband made some attempts. I finally received a formal quote and approved because the cost was competitive. We had to cut a hole in our front closet for access because the original access point was in one of the bedroom closets. Also, we had to have the ducting moved, so my husband did both of that in preparation of the work. On the actual install day, everything went well and completed in one day! So far everything is working out well and it's just one less worry. Our neighbor asked for their number and may reach out to them as well! read more

We just needed a simple snake to unclog our toilet, the technician comes in with his snake and acts like it's this crazy difficult job and increases our quote from $600 to $1200, I wasn't home so my wife sent him away, he tells her "That's fine if you're not gonna use us now, you'll be back, but don't ask us for any discounts when you come back" We went to home depot, rented a $64 machine and fixed the backed up toilet / sink within 10 minutes. Had they not gotten greedy and tried to take advantage of us, I would have just paid the $600 and got it done and over with, but instead they made it seem like a big deal and that their snake was getting stuck...we got something way less heavy duty than they had and my wife and I with no experience got it fixed in an extremely short amount of time. read more

Our Kitchen sink was clogged up before Christmas, so we called around and Advance Plumbing was the first to call us back. However, they are very expensive. The customer service on the phone cannot give a quote and only a technician can upon arrival. Well, for the technician to come is $100++. He showed up and about 10 minutes he tells us it will be $400+. And, the charge for the quote is not applied against the actual work. So, after everything is said and done we had to pay 515.00 for an hour worth of work for the technician to snake the sink! If it wasn't for us being desperate we would have called around to find the best price. Work was done, quick to respond, polite and professional technician, but we were not happy about the charge for the work. I think it's overpriced! At least they should apply the cost of the quote against the work performed. Do your homework call around first there are other plumbers out there that is more reasonably priced. read more

PROCEED WITH CAUTION in contracting with Advanced Plumbing. Two weeks after moving into our Pleasanton home, raw sewage came up the bath and shower drains. The toilets would not work. We scrambled to find anyone willing to come out on short notice. To Advanced Plumbing's credit, they did. $6000 later they finished an extensive job. During the work, it became clear Advanced Plumbing and the same plumber, Maxx, had done the same job 3-4 months earlier for the previous owners of the house. The house had been unoccupied for more than 2 months after that repair. When asked why it wasn't warrantied when the previous owner spent $6500, AP claimed a key used part (the flapper) had been okayed to be repaired. This despite the previous owners having been given 2 written proposals from Advanced Plumbing and went with the higher cost proposal. The prior owners insist they had no idea the job would not be warrantied despite AP's website claims that they guarantee their work, and having gone with the higher cost proposal. After our project was completed, I asked for an appointment with Bill, the owner. He had someone call to cancel 30-minutes prior to our first appointment The 2nd time, there were police around because of disgruntled employee and doors were locked behind us. When I suggested a financial adjustment with Bill, it was adamantly rebuffed citing the used part. Why a repair of an $80 part was recommended instead of a new one for a $6500 job was never explained. When I mentioned I might have to pursue Small Claims Court to get some satisfactionn, Bill responded that he "would counter sue me for a frivolous lawsuit". Time will tell whether their work will last longer than the work AP did for the previous owners, but the experience was so distasteful and unsatisfying that I would strongly recommend finding another plumber. And btw, how Advanced Plumbing gets an overall Yelp rating of 4+ when there are many 1-Star reviews, is beyond me. read more

The owner Bill is really responsive and gets down to the matter if need be, and really takes care of his customers! His technician Cezar is also knowledgeable and knows his stuff. Several plumbing companies were used by the property management previously to inspect the leak on my shower handle and may have over estimated the repairs which was not needed. But Cezar with Advanced Plumbing came out to re-assess the issue and easily found out it was only due to a wrong knob handle and quickly fixed the problem at a much lower cost, I presume. Definitely will recommend this company to anyone looking for a good service or honest repairs in the future! read more

My main sewer line backed up through the cleanout cap in my front yard, due to a known problem with root intrusions into my old, ceramic sewage line. I had this line cleared out about a year and a half prior to the tune of $300-400, and was told it was temporary. The company I had do it last time (Barnett plumbing) no longer provided rooter services and recommended Advanced Plumbing and Rooter. I called and was told the cost to have a technician come out to provide an estimate was $125. I agreed. The technician came out and asked for an outlet to plug his equipment into. I provided one for him and he got to work with one other guy while I was inside working. The two ran a cable through the line to clear the blockage, then ran a camera to see what the problem is. They showed me the root intrusions, which I already knew about from before, and recommended either replacing the line altogether ($9,200) or performing hydro jet ($1,500) to better clear the line, telling me it was the only alternative to buy me some time, maybe up to a year. I told him I would need to speak to my wife when she got home to come to a decision on what to do. He understood but said that if that were the case, I would need to pay them $625 for the work they did that day, then pay again when I decided what service I wanted. This was the first time anyone had mentioned the $625 number to me, and it was after work had already been performed, which I assumed fell under the $125 estimate charge. Alternatively, I could make a decision then, and they could perform the service as quoted without charging the additional $625. I should have said something at the time, but feeling stressed about the decision, and potentially adding $625 more to a bill that was already larger than expected, I simply agreed to the $1500 hydro jet service, since I was assured it was necessary. I called Advanced Plumbing later that day and explained the situation. At first, they didn't understand the complaint, seeing as I agreed to and paid for a straightforward $1,500 service. I explained that I likely would not have agreed to that service if I hadn't been threatened with a $625 charge for services rendered before an estimate was given. The woman I spoke to on the phone said she would speak to the technician and call me back. I heard back shortly thereafter and learned that the technician denied having provided the $625 snake + camera service before telling me how much it would cost. He also apparently told her that I had a Ring video doorbell, and suggested that I share the video of our interaction with them so that we could confirm what happened. I do not have a Ring or anything of the sort, which makes me think that the technician was remembering a different customer--he had told me at the time that he just had to provide a similar service for another customer in the same neighborhood as mine. On that call, I was told they would do some more fact checking and give me a follow up call soon. They did not. I had to call again and ask for a price reduction. The person I spoke to said they would speak to the owner and call me back to let me know what they could do. This never happened. Quote me with $380+$125=$505 to replace a bath sink faucet only, to replace a water heater's T&P valve with approved material +/-$500, and they told me if they are unable to reach the pipe connector, they need to remove the whole water tank in order to do that +$1000, adding a approved spacer to the vent pass for free, this is included in the $500. Fix up a drain pipe fitting leaking, $1300. I was shocked by all the pricing adding up, I told them I had to check with my husband for the quotes, please send me the quote, they were asking $125 for the visiting and quoting. I had a terrible experience with Advanced Plumbing in Livermore with their level of customer service for several reasons. Initially, called and spoke to Destiny about coming over to check out some storm drain questions I had in the backyard. She mentioned that someone could come by but there would be a $175 service call fee. I asked if that would be credited back if I were to do the work with Advanced Plumbing. She said that if I had an issue with the cost, she could cut off $50 and that the service call would include a full inspection including a crawl space inspection. I agreed thinking I would be getting some kind of inspection service. Someone came by a few days later and inspected the storm drain. He was there all of five minutes and did not measure anything and just told me that he recommend I replace the storm drain. When he went to charge me, he charged me $175. I told him what Destiny had said about taking $50 off and the full inspection promised, including the crawl space. He then made a call to another woman and mentioned what I said and also told her this is the second time Destiny promised someone that and they don't do that, that this was the standard fee for a service call. To do a full inspection would cost hundreds of more dollars. I didn't want to argue so I paid the full amount. Five minutes later I was emailed a quote for $6250, with only an explanation of "replace storm drain." No other details on linear feet (I later got a more detailed proposal from someone else who only charged me $3800). It didn't sit with me well so I called and complained the next day. I explained to the woman what happened and how I was promised $50 off as well as an inspection. She said she would look into it and call me back. Four days later there was no call back, so I called again. She apologized and said the had been very busy. She said she would look into it and call me back. She called back this time and said I would be credited back $50. After receiving a few other FREE proposals I received from other contractors on the work, I realized the proposal I received from Advanced Plumbing, that I paid $125 for, was subpar. These other contractors spent time with me and explained in detail what they would do. Their proposals were detailed, with line items, linear feet, number of drains needed etc. I called Advanced Plumbing back, and asked Destiny if I could get a more detailed proposal from Advanced Plumbing on the work. Seeing that I paid $125 for it, I feel like it is not a lot to ask for. She said "yes of course" and would check in with the technician and call me back. It has been more than two months and I still have not been given a call back or a more detailed proposal. After receiving this TERRIBLE customer service, I sent this letter to advancedplumbing@gmail.com and requested ALL of my money back for the service call. It was not deserved at all. It was Thursday at about 1:30pm at the time. They were able to send out 2 of their technicians to my house in Livermore to look at the problem by 3:30pm. They came back the next day Friday morning at about 8:30am as they said with the parts and replaced all 3 ball valves and the surrounding copper pipes connected to my water softener. So we called another plumbing company who referred us to advanced plumbing. Max was our plumber technician who came out within 20 minutes of the appointment. He was just awesome, super professional, honest, upfront about cost and you can tell he had pride in his work. He truly went above and beyond knowing we were in a bind. Even though the services we had paid for didn't fix the whole issue, I am still grateful for the hard work he put in to help us identify the issue. The quote to complete the repair/replacement was a bit much so we opted to try to do it ourselves, as I am pretty handy myself. I am completely satisfied with the service I received from Advanced Plumbing. I had a clogged toilet and nearby shower/bathtub that was not draining. My home warranty insurance company assigned a plumber that was not able to come for 4 days. When the technician finally came, he said the clog was too far down the pipe for him to snake. Long story short, this company essentially said the job was too "severe" for them to handle, and "outside the scope" of what they can do, and that they "just don't have the type of equipment" needed. I "yelped" for other plumbing companies, and found Advanced Plumbing. First off, there was a "live" person after hours which was impressive. More impressive, after determining I wasn't in an "emergency" situation which I appreciated them asking, they were able to set up a technician for first thing the very next morning. Max and Fredo arrived right on time and were so professional and friendly. I immediately felt I was in good hands. They listened, they completely understood the situation, and explained everything they would be needing to do. The bottom line is that they were able to successfully snake the clog, and cleaned up everything afterwards. I agree with other posters here that their pricing is probably a bit steep, but I am completely willing to pay for services that are so professional. I would say please be cautious in using this company. We were taken in by them and big time. They came spend hours have us a wrong diagnosis where it could have been a short visit charged us over 1000 dollars then presented us with a repair report for almost 10,000 dollars. We had another company came in and spent 1/4 of the time and found the issue and showed us that it is irrigation system and there are no plumbing issues and we should not bring down walls and spend 10k for repairs that are not necessary. We had a terrible smell in the house, after a few days of going through a list of easy fixes, we narrowed down the problem to a sewer like smell coming from our crawl space. We called Barnett Plumbing and were advised they no longer provided rooter services, at which point they referred us to Advance Plumbing. We called on a Saturday and were told it would be $150 to be provided an estimate and after some back and forth we agreed and Advance Plumbing said they would be down in about an hour. The technician showed up at roughly the estimated time.. so far so good, and now its when it starts to get wild. The technician came in and confirmed the smell was sewer, got his hazmat and got into the entrance of the crawl space, without going in and roughly 2 minutes later he stated he didn't see an issue, but he was going to get his flashlight and really go in. While in the crawl space he was super unprofessional, screaming and complaining about the tightness of the space, (we had stated from the get go that the issue was in the crawl space). He came back out 5 min later stating that he had crawled all over the area and there was no issue, and all it could be was that we needed a full sewer line replacement, costing $18k. There was clearly an issue and we politely decline to have the work started. At that point he asked for a payment of $395 for the quote. I pushed back stating that the person on the phone stated that the quote was $150, and I would not be paying more than that, he ultimately agree. In the end an other company came in spent 45 minutes in the crawl space, and found the leaky sewer line under our 1/2 bathroom. That bathroom needed to repiping due to a 10' section of the line that had gone bad. The entire jobs cost half of the price estimated by Advance Plumbing. Long story short, if you have a crawl space and expect professionalism, DO NOT call Advance Plumbing. read more

Requested replacement of the float valve assembly in a toilet. The toilet is 28 years old. The technician refused to consider valve replacement, saying the toilet is too old and would need to be replaced. So, rather than a $30 part and some labor, I'm looking at $1400 and a lengthy delay. When I called the office to discuss this, the story changed: the technician was claiming that the box was cracked, but he never mentioned that to me. I do not trust these people to tell the truth about what can be done, what should be done. read more

Bill, my texting contact, never failed to be courteous, always responded promptly, never seemed impatient and gave me great advice and a plan going forward. Edward, the service technician/plumber, was very nice and even went above and beyond for me, stepping outside his job description to do me a favor. The technician, Edgar was at the trailer waiting for me when I got there. He worked diligently and had the job done within an hour. I would warn you against using Advanced plumbing. They were hired to unclog the central drainage in my Mother-in-law's house. They did not have the necessary equipment, knowledge or manpower and still charged her over a thousand dollars. One of their technicians spent over 5 hours accomplishing very little. And he did not resolve the issue. They DO NOT stand behind there work. When the system clogged up less than a week later they declined to send anyone without charging again and accused my mother-in-law of dropping something in the toilet to cause the problem. Outrageous charges and incompetence is what you can expect from this outfit. A different, more capable outfit found the clog was due to a long gradual buildup of toilet paper and that it had not been removed by Advanced plumbing.
