Awful, this is one awful company. Please be advised and beware of this plumbing company before hiring them. We were in contact with a Sylvia Cromwell who we spoke to regarding a water heater that stopped working. They had installed a new water heater back in 2021 so naturally we called them to troubleshoot. After one phone call, Sylvia just said that it's better to replace the water heater and immediately sent an email asking for payment information. (We have all the email communication including her prompting a payment link). One would think that they would send one of their technicians to diagnose the situation. But of course, instead of serving the best interest of the customer she was just pushing to spend thousands of dollars to replace the existing water heater that was just installed in 2021. Fortunately, we had PG&E connection and their technician came the very next day and figured out the cause of the problem within 5 minutes. Turned out that they found that the earthquake sensor had just turned off the gas so he restored it. What could have been several thousands of dollars on another new water heater, PG&E solved within minutes. PLEASE be aware of this company before they make you pay without troubleshooting first! Super overcharged! Worker just shows up, before even looking at what's wrong with your water heater, goes straight to pull out a form and ask you to sign for a ridiculous price. Doesn't explain to you what's wrong, doesn't provide you options or give any consultations. Afterwards I looked around other places, they charge only HALF of what this place charges. Charged high for water leakage diagnosis and estimate to fix the issue compared to market price. Service is not worth, they didn't do primary leakage detection using infra red to find the leak and result to cut open the wall and they diagnosed that leak is under basement. read more

I was referred to Performance Plus Plumbing by a neighbor after my A.O. Smith water heater suddenly stopped working, and experienced similar problems to his.They answered our phone call "after hours" (it was nearly 6:30 PM) and arranged for a tech to arrive the next day between Noon and 3 PM (which he did). Sylvia called back the morning before the appointment and advised us that the repair would be authorized under an A.O. Smith recall. Grant, who was friendly and efficient, finished the repair in 15 mins and did so for no additional charge. Very pleased. read more

Pros: The pricing was competative. The quality and professionalism of our tankless water heater installation was excellent. Cliff also agreed to do some additional work for us. Cons: Dealing with the ordering of the equipment took a long time with lots of false starts and misinformation. After contacting the office multiple times, it appears we cannot get additional work done through them. Both before and after the water heater installation, we had to reach out, as there was little follow up. It would have saved us time if they had just said they didn't want the smaller job. In general, the communication was poor. read more

I was referred to this company by my water heater warranty. I called and left a message detailing my service auth code and the part number I needed replaced, repeated my phone number twice and left an email. I never heard from them. I called repeatedly and could not get anyone. I ended up just replacing the whole water heater with another plumbing company in town that has been great and will cover the warranty themselves. read more

refused to wear a mask, even after i asked them to. even though I told them it was a mandate-which they denied. told me it was hard to breathe while working- for the 10 minutes they worked? well one guy worked- the owner stood there observing- without a mask. they spoke to me in a condescending tone and were leaving the property after the repair without talking to me. Very strange way to run a business. I should have refused them access to my property but I needed the repair done . Will not be doing this again. Wish I had checked Yelp first. Gary at Plumbing Tech and his guys are the best. They have done everything for me from replace my water supply line to clean out a drain line to faucet repair. His prices are reasonable and the work is quality. Recently, I had a leak under my kitchen sink. Gary took a look and told me I just needed to replace one of the water filters. It was not a problem for me and no charge for his expertise. Not even the usual one hour charge that most plumbing outfits make. Can't do better than Gary. I managed my own bathroom remodel job. After self-performing all the demo and repair of water damaged flooring, Gary and Kevin came in to help me with the plumbing work. They updated our supply line back to the other half of the house, cleaned up some shoddy work the previous owner had done, and installed my new 300lb cast iron tub. Dirty, heavy work for strong guys. These guys are low-key, do exactly what you ask, and will collaborate with you to make the best decisions on the work that needs to be done. I called these guys in to check my water heater. The guy told me that my water heater needed to be replaced and that the issue could cause it to blow up. Of course this made me really nervous and so I signed on the dotted line. A friend had told me later that something sounded fishy and to call PG&E. I called them and when the service tech came out, he noticed the small door that protects the pilot from blowing out was off and that was the only issue. He cleaned the main burner and replaced the door and it was fixed. He also told me that water heaters don't generally blow up. I was so mad at this company's dishonesty that I went to the BBB. We lost because I had signed the cancelation waiver, but I'm glad YELP is available to let people know how these guys are. If you use them be very careful. read more

This company is a rip off, be careful and they owe me money and I tried taking them to court, but it is impossible to serve them, because they are operating out of a P.O. Box, I tried serving their home address but it was also a bust. I am planning to report them to better business, They fixed hot water heater twice, I had to pay each time. 4 days later it went out again, they never gave me credit for the service that was not done properly. I am trying to report their license do not do business with them, you will be sorry, the wife is rude and disrespectful. I have not given up, and I don't plan to give up. I was frustrated with AO Smith water heater for a while, it demonstrates some loud bang and insufficient hot water. I have called several plumbers and all of them suggested me to replace it with a new one and one of them quoted me $4000 for the job. Since the water heater is still under warranty, I'm reluctant to replace it. I then called AO Smith warranty line and they gave me an L* number and a plumber's number, AMOR Plumbing. I called them and the lady who answered the phone was politely saying that she will let the technician know and the technician will call me back which I didn't receive it in weeks. I then called another plumber listed on AO Smith website: Wellman Plumbing. They said they don't know what the problem would be and they don't have an available schedule in weeks. Lastly, I called Performance Plus Plumbing. And they answered my call very politely and professionally. They understood my problem immediately and notified me that there are 2 different recall on AO Smith and one of them is the burner unit and that could be my root problem. We scheduled 2 days later for a visit. However, they called back the next day saying the parts need to be ordered and it won't be delivered in another 2 days. So I waited. This morning (one weekend after the originally scheduled visit) they called and they were onsite in an hour. Done and left in 30 minutes. They also showed me the defected burner module. Very efficient. Very impressive. And the cost of this, $0. I will definitely call them for all of my plumbing needs. read more

The gas valve on my water heater was recalled. The water heater company said they would have the valve replaced at no charge to me. They would pay the plumber directly if I select one of three they suggested. I chose Performance Plus Plumbing because they are close by. If I wanted to choose another plumber, I could but I would pay the plumber and the water heater company would reimburse me. When Performance Plus arrived, the man looked at my water heater and informed me I was supposed to have a debris trap installed before the gas valve. It was code or something and he could not replace the recalled valve unless the trap was put in for $80.00! What else could I do? This debris trap was a T fitting, a short stub of a pipe and a cap. That's all! The man put it all together, changed the valve and was gone in 20 minutes. $80 for a small piece of pipe sounded way over priced. I felt scammed. read more

Our water heater manufacturer directed us here when our water heater (still under warranty) up and quit. Pleasant customer service over the phone, and the issue with the water heater was quickly resolved. Cliff may be a bit gruff, but he's no-nonsense and knew immediately what the problem was and how to fix it. He didn't call ahead, but he did arrive within the scheduled window. I'm definitely more satisfied with his work and knowledge than with some techs who've come from larger companies. read more

Called them out to snake my main sewer line. After numerous attempts they were unable to get the snake into the main line at the house because the pipes were slightly offset. After an hour of trying they told me the pipes had collapsed and the fix was to put in a clean out at the house versus the one that exists at the sidewalk now. I was given a quote for $1900 to make that happen. I paid for 1 hour of service and they left with my sewer line still blocked. I got on the phone and called Barnett Plumbing and they came out the next morning and snaked the entire sewer line, cleared the blockage, took a video of the entire sewer line to diagnose any further problems. I asked the technician if there was a problem snaking the line and he mentioned that there was a slight offset if the pipes at the house but had no problem completing the job. He suggested the same clean out solution that Performance Plus recommended as a long term fix. My problem is that PPP wasn't able to do the job although their tech did give it a great effort. They were also not equipped with camera equipment to view the pipes and made an incorrect diagnosis based on their inability to snake the line at the house. read more

Most horrible experience with this company!! Do not trust them!! We had our water heater go out, so they came out on Saturday, charged $200 just to "look" at it, came back on Monday to do the repair. Never contacted me to let me know when they were coming, didn't call my landlord back when he contacted them, or to authorize the repairs, was messy leaving pieces of repairs all over, slamming things on my ping pong table...when they said it was "fixed" after another $500 which seemed outrageous for installing a valve, so my landlord got upset understandably...they argued back and forth. Just to get it over with my landlord paid them. The repair lasted all of one evening, the water heater went out the next morning. Upon calling them to let them know their repair did not hold up, they sent me a text saying since my landlord was difficult to deal with, they refuse to service. A blessing anyway minus all the money my landlord paid to have nothing fixed...PG&E came out, said we need to fire whoever our plumber is. The repair they did was not up to code, and he had to disconnect it :/ Horrible horrible!! The WORST!!! Do not ever trust them. They came several times at my home to fix 4 toilets. They said you need a rebuild (WHERE IS IT? WHY IT IS GONE?) First, they did the rebuild but the flappers did not work so there was continuous running water. They came back to change the flapper. While I was downstairs talking to the landscaper, I trusted and left them upstairs so they changed the flapper but took out the previous rebuild they did. Now my toilets are clogging again! They took out something and thinking I would not find out about it. DO NOT TRUST THEM! I paid for something they previously installed hoping I would not know that when they came back they took it out since I do not know anything about toilets. I took a picture of the first one they installed which they took out and the new one they replaced it to. I called and paid $845 to solve my toilet problems and not to be deceived. BBB Complaint #13066491 Referred to this company by the manufacturer of an AO Smith water heater that may have still been covered by warranty. Upon speaking to Sylvia at Performance Plus Plumbing it was discovered the equipment was no longer under warranty. She quoted me a price for a service/assessment visit of $225. We agreed to the appointment. When Cliff, the service person arrived and assessed the situation, he found the problem and proceeded to replace the unit. He did not, AS IS STANDARD PROCEDURE IN THE INDUSTRY, give me an estimate and obtain my "go ahead". Upon seeing the final cost, I was shocked. I did not complain at the time because I was under a time constraint and he had already put the unit in operation - pretty much a done deal. I can definitely say I would not have agreed to the price or replacement if I had been presented with the estimate - it was just too much money. I have subsequently learned I could have had the entire piece of equipment replaced for not much more money. When I voiced my displeasure to Sylvia, she said she gave me an estimate over the phone for the repair. This is totally false since she wouldn't have known what needed to be replaced or repaired. When I said I would file a complaint she went so far as to say that some of the previous work was not up to code. I would interpret that as a "threat". This is no way to operate a business. Performance Plus Plumbing is definitely not the company you want to call if you want integrity and honesty. read more

update on my Ao Smith water heater, I hired another plumber and he immediately pinpointed a defective control valve, he replaced it in 10minutes and I have a working water heater. I would stay away this company , they diagnosed my problem incorrectly , did not admit to it and even threatened me and charged me $230 for nothing. read more

Both times I had Performance come out they were honest and to the point. Had a backup on my main sewer line under the house...cleaned out and haven't had a problem since, 7 months ago. They came out again after I remodeled my bathroom...forgot to put putty under my drain flange in the tub and it was leaking so I figured I did something wrong...they stayed until I did it and checked to make sure it wasn't leaking under the house, they didn't charge me. Not sure about these other reviews, but plumbing is a bitch, and most big plumbing companies are shifty. I am already scheduling these guys again for a job. read more

I was referred here by the manufacturer, and requested an expert on tankless heaters. Was told it was $250 for the site visit (applied to repair) to check on the tankless water heater (self-installed) and address three issues we had (not hot enough, fluctuating temperature, and taking 1.5 min to get hot in shower in am). Seemed steep, but I figured we would get confirmation that all was installed correctly and specific help to get it working better. First I was given an arrival window of 10-2pm. Then a call around 1:30 said it would be 4-6pm, then a tech and assistant arrived 3:15pm. These kind of situations eat up your whole day. He looked over the WH (in garage), said we did a good job on installing and mentioned the venting needing minor adjusting. I brought up the gas line being sized right, and he said, "oh yes, should have caught that, should be 3/4" vs the 1/2" (though the install manual says 1/2"). He checked the temp on hot pipe and said it is correct. He never seemed that interested, didn't bring in any tools, never asked about or went in the house to check at the kitchen and bath. He recommended we flush the unit (I asked if he could do it since we never had, didn't know how, and the $250 is applied to repair, but he said he didn't have parts for that (though they are universal to all tankless heaters). He borrowed some pencil and paper to draw a scratchy unlabeled diagram, didn't provide any notes or receipt of the visit, recommended a different unit, different manufacturer (just installed 2 years ago). He and assistant were nice enough, we all had a few laughs. But in the end, I felt a bit robbed of $250. read more

I had a problem with my kitchen sink leaking water, I called Performance Plus Plumbing and they promptly addressed my issue. Not only where they courteous but their knowledge surpassed any other plumbing company I dealt with in the past. It turned out that I needed a new kitchen faucet, they offered many selections to choose from and my wife and I were extremely satisfied with their work, they also replaced my garbage disposal.
