When they identify another costly issue which may cause problems down the line, such as a partial failure in a septic field, they don't turn the appointment into an aggressive sales job, rather just offering an honest assessment of where things currently stand and the problems which could arise without action. They may not advertise on every billboard and sports field in the community like some of their competitors but, to me, relying on word of mouth for business is something only a company confident in their product or service can pull off. I received a call from the technician, on-site, to find out they were going to charge me another $400 to dig up the tank. Keep in mind the original quote was for $325. They ended up charging $450 more to dig up the lid. They were using a mini-excavator so the work was simple and there should have been a minimal up-charge, at best. The technician was very nice and easy to deal with, but the company policy for pricing that type of work is ridiculous. We've used Skyline a good bit in the past, even for drain field lines on another property but will NOT use them again. They have been bought out by a larger company and don't have reasonable prices any more. I felt over a barrel and taken advantage of to do the work. The company that bought Skyline has also bought Hamby's Septic, another once very good septic company. Buyer beware!

The septic was not hooked up from the house to the tank (did one of them unhook it to make sure I'd continue to have problems??) unhooked from the tank to the field, and half the lines were clogged. He installed the new Aquaworx Remediator system at a fraction of the cost of redoing the whole tank, installing pumps, new drain field - we were back up and flushing within a couple days. This new system injects natural bacteria into the system constantly to ëat" the clogged lines and keep them working. This was a nightmare situation with high water table, underground streams, lots of trees that wouldhave to be sacrificed and no money to pay for a $10k repair! We had just bought a home in Rome, and this is our first home that had a septic tank installed rather than public sewer. We decided that it would be best to have someone come out and take a look at it, teach us if there was any maintenance needed, etc. They arrived prior to their scheduled time after calling us to make sure it was ok to do so. We shared with them our story about just moving in and that the receipt the prior homeowners gave us stating it was pumped/serviced a couple of years ago. The lead technician stated he couldn't in good conscience take our money for un-needed services, and taught us what we should look for and do to maintain a good working system. All without charging a dime. He did open the access port and took a quick look to verify that things seemed to be in good shape. They just got themselves a customer from this interaction - very pleased.
