The previous time I had a tooth extracted, (by an oral surgeon affiliated with Rose Dental) my neck hurt for a week and I had a 3 day migraine. Dr. Shelton extracted my #2 molar yesterday. He numbed me up--slowly and painlessly! He then loosened the tooth--using a slow, careful rocking notion. When the tooth was completely loosened and unmoored from its dock, like a mussel, he lifted it out--painlessly, and without the drama of my previous extraction! I had no pain last night and I have no pain today! But wait! There's More! Piling on the Potential for Pain and Drama at the Dentist! I also got a crown removed and a temporary crown installed yesterday, on the #3 molar, next door to #2 extraction. This was done before the extraction, to keep the blood and gut potential out of the vacuum, as nature abhors a vacuum!there was the usual loud banging drilling pushing and pulling.then pushing tapping on typewriters ribbon, then more drilling to place the temporary crown that fit perfectly. I thought perhaps it was the anesthesia that kept me from ever feeling the temporary. But no, I don't even notice it today. So that's two potentially very painful dental procedures, done painlessly. As a dental patient, That is everything I could ask for! Dr. Shelton has been my dentist for 30 years. He listens and he is kind and caring. I also think his pricing is very fair and reasonable. Dental care could be, should be less in a just world. But I believe the technology that has made once painful and imprecise dental, painless and perfect is Worth It! read more

This office has a great dentist. However they lack in accounting department. Do the work and don't confirm benefits and expect you to pay the bill......which wasn't anything close to the estimate. Do not feel should have to pay for their mistakes. Unhappy I have to find a new dentist now because of office staff. read more

Update to my original review. The manager called me a few days or so after posting. The manager stated she called me back because I posted a bad review, not because I asked the front desk to have a manager call me about a week or so prior. Unacceptable. She apologized and we were able to sort things out with the cost of X-rays and I got a refund. She said she would talk to the other office to send my X-rays to my new dentist but still haven't gotten the confirmation. After she confirmed I got a refund, she asked me to remove the review. That is also not acceptable. Helping doesn't negate the bad experience I had and people should know about the experience. Rule of thumb for customer service, never ask for a review/tip. You're coming off as desperate because you/your team aren't doing your job right. If the customer service is at the right caliber, the good reviews will write themselves. read more

Dr. Shelton is highly skilled and takes the necessary time to explain every part of the procedure and answer questions. Meantime, Alex is the best in cleaning the teeth and advising on teeth and gum care. She is a pro and while busy, she doesn't rush through the cleaning. The office folks are experienced and helpful. As a Rose Dental patient for some 20 years, I am totally DONE with them. Got to my appointment early and proceeded to wait 25 minutes past the appointment time until I was finally called. I was then seated in the chair and the dental assistant took 1 xray. Other dental assistants then kept coming in and repeatedly saying "The Dr will be right in" and "He'll be with you in just a minute" etc. Yup, sure ... I ended up waiting another 40 minutes - in the chair - until the Dr appeared. We spoke for a few minutes and he poked at the target tooth for approx 1 minute. We discussed the procedure to replace a filling, which sounded like a quick in-and-out as I had expected, so I was ready to get started. At last. The dental assistant then asked me ... "Can you come back tomorrow?" WHAT? I made an appontment, confirmed it, showed up early, am seated in the chair ready for the procedure and you're now asking me if I can come back TOMORROW?!?! She proceeded to tell me that the Dr was working 4 CHAIRS AT ONCE and they are overbooked, so I can't get the treatment which I had scheduled. They knew well before I even got there that they couldn't possibly meet their commitment but proceeded to jerk me around anyway. This was told to me in the most offhand, totally unconcerned and uncaring manner, as if this were established practice - something to be expected. There were, unbelievably, no apologies at all for wasting my time. The whole experience was absolutely unprofessional, rude and insulting. Of course, that wasn't the end of it. After airily exclaiming "Let's get you checked out" I was presented with a bill for $162 for "examination and xrays" - consisting of 1 xray and 1 minute of tooth probing. Wow, what a freakin deal. I don't know what happened to this practice (ownership change? management issues? staffing problems?) but it has gone down the tubes. All the way. If this is the kind of experience you enjoy then, by all means, have at it. Needless to say I am totally and completely done with Rose Dental. read more

I had a horribly unprofessional experience with Rose Dental- They agreed to give me a complimentary second opinion on some dental work that o need done (a quick two minutes with the dentist) , and then when I arrived st the appointment refused to see without charging me for a full consultation. The people at the front office were incredibly rude and I was deeply offended about being misled about the appointment. They made no attempt to remedy the situation or building a relationship with someone that could have sent them thousands of dollars of dental work their way if I had positive perception of their 2nd opinion. I was in the military for several years and received a generous amount of sub-par dental work. The fillings lasted a good 10 years, but not without impacting some serious damage requiring lots of labor and correction. I saw Dr. Tjan for my initial consult and he worked with me on getting my teeth back in order. All-in-all I had 7 crowns, 2 fillings, 2 inlays AND a root canal that needed to be done. This was done in multiple visits over a period of several months. I got to know him and his staff very well during this time and i cannot possibly recommend him and his team enough. Everyone was very kind and thoughtful. Dr. Tjan's professionalism and dental acumen were of the highest tier. Being a little traumatized from previous dental visits, he did everything i could have asked to assuage my fears and anxiety about what needed to get done. Scheduling took a while, but they were on time, did not reschedule and sent lots of helpful reminder texts. Fantastic office! Upon arrival I was greeted right away by the receptionist, who already had my information and paperwork printed. After only waiting less than five minutes I was called back by Ryan the Hygienist. She was welcoming and made me feel comfortable right away. She was knowledgeable, and answered all of my questions. She did a very thorough job on my teeth cleaning. Ryan is such an asset to this office. Her vibe is contagious and she set a great mood throughout my visit. Dr. Tjan did my exam. He was professional and didn't rush the visit. He was attentive and explained the treatment plan very well. If you go to this location, do NOT see Dr Kenneth Mueller. This dentist has the bedside manners of a pig and is incompetent. For my exam, he walks in and looks in my mouth for a few seconds and then and walks out. Doesn't say anything. Not even a hello or hi. Then I made the big mistake of letting him put some crowns on my teeth. Again, he walks in and doesn't say anything. During the procedure, I couldn't understand what he was saying or what he meant and he started yelling at me. He did this throughout the procedure. When he was done, he just walked out and didn't say anything to me. I was thinking this guy is a nut job. Long story short, my crowns do not look good and he damaged a tooth next to the crown. Now I am going to have to go to another dentist and have this fixed and pay out more money out of my pocket. I wouldn't let this guy touch my teeth again if it was free. The only positive out of this was his dental hygienist Priscilla was super friendly and efficient. She did an excellent job of cleaning my teeth. Do a search on this dentist on the TX State Board of Dental Examiners site. He has had disciplinary action. I am not surprised. read more

I have gone to Rose Dental for over 5 years and until COVID hit, I have never had a problem with their service. However, last year because of their income drop they have changed their billing practices. The give you a quote for services and have you acknowledge it. You then pay the bill in full and then they tell you that the insurance company wouldn't pay for it. This happened for the last 3 visits that I had there and there were excess charges of over $300. They are using their patients as cash cows and its under the guise of insurance differences. If they were in any other profession their license would be in jeopardy. read more

Scam artist's! Don't go here. Very pushy and condescending staff. When you go to a doctor cause your arm hurts, the doc exams u first then decides if u need an x-ray referral etc..but here it's the reverse. Came here cause of pain near my tooth, nearly $300 worth of procedure later finally got a dentist to look in my mouth only to be told "oh there's nothing wrong with your teeth, u just have a canker sore... should clear up in a week or so." Dr. Rick Mueller is the very, VERY best!!! I've seen dentists since 1959, some OK, some really horrible. Have been Dr. Mueller's patient since 2006 when his office was close to my home. Still see him even though he's now across the county through heavy traffic. Wouldn't consider seeing anyone else. Dr. Mueller is absolutely expert, careful, compassionate, and truly has his patients' interests at heart. He goes the extra mile to accommodate the client's needs and preferences. Recently, the staff at Rose Dental, Parmer Lane has been very polite. Previously I did have a bit of a snag with the front office folks who insisted on certain protocols which I did not want or need. I have been to ALOT of dentist over the years and have never felt so Lucky to have found Dr. Ha. I know his first concern is my dental health not money. He calls you before your initial appointment to know your concerns and introduce himself. Then once you get in the building the staff continues to make you feel comfortable and hospitable. I came in today for a few fillings and got to watch one get made. What used to take three weeks and two appointments is now done in ten minutes at one appointment. I warn anyone who thinks about choosing this place to think again. I have tried several Drs in this system and I have had poor quality work, been lied to in order to have higher charges and worse have had damage done to my teeth and mouth. One Dr hit a nerve in my gums while administering Novocain. The shot damaged my nerves and I lost sensitivity in my tongue and lost my sense of taste for 11 months. Rose Dentals response: You signed a form stating that things like this can happen. We are not responsible. After this I was pretty weary of going back but at the time I didn't have many options with my HMO Insurance. I then decided to go to Rose Dental in Round Rock. I got a new dentists and she performed a root canal on me. The entire procedure was excruciating and hurt for months after. When I complained about the pain I was informed that it was "phantom pain" and that the root was removed so I should not feel any real pain. When I went in for a cleaning I was taken to their little money collection rooms with an assistant who told me I needs a deep clean for over $200. I advise them that I just wanted a normal cleaning since I was due and they refused. I was told that I must have a deep cleaning. After getting a PPO, I have recently found a new dentist who after an examination and X-rays informed me that my "phantom pain" root canal showed signs of infection and I was referred to a specialist. The new Dr also without hesitation cleaned my teeth. I explained to him that Rose Dental refused to clean my teeth advising me that I needed a deep clean and he stated that the information I received was inaccurate and that I did not have bone loss as I had been told at Rose. read more

This is the dentist you've been waiting for. I found this dentist like everyone finds their dentist; I looked in network at my insurance website, looked at which was closest to my house, and covered my eyes and then pointed at the screen and whatever my handed landed close to that was my new dentists. I've since moved away from that area, but will never stop going to Rose Dental. The first thing you should notice when you walk into a dentist office is the smell. When you walk in you should immediately think to yourself, I'm probably the only thing in here not disinfected and that should make you happy. This office makes me happy. The next thing is the desk staff. Now these are the people who are going to call you a week before your appointment every six months because you scheduled an appointment when you left the dentist the last time. Here's the thing. You didn't write that appointment down. I have never in the history of my life written that appointment down. It's six months from when it is scheduled. We live in a world with Trump and Thanos, I don't even know if I'll be alive in 6 months, so I basically just wait on that call. Then when they call, I inevitably have something planned during that time but they always just hook me up with the nearest available time and they don't make me feel bad that my life isn't in order enough to schedule things six months out because lets be real it's a dentist appointment and not a vacation. So I walk in and they smile at me like I didn't just throw off their whole schedule by jumping into this appointment. They ask my name all nice, like ya best friends grandma provided she's not racist. Then it's like a minute and half before I'm invited back into the chair. This is the best. No one wants to wait on their dentist or their haircut. So just like that I'm in the back and they have all the stuff; the x ray tech with the heavy vest because I'd like my kids to have only two ears thank you. They have the super intense camera that hides no secrets. Their chairs are . . . chairs. My hygienist is dope. She has an accent from Russia. (Note: she could still be dope if she wasn't from Russia, but this was my experience ok.) She said she could tell I floss. Which is definitely true and not just indicative of the last few weeks of flossing because I knew a dentist appointment had to be coming soon. (Don't judge me.) She's pretty great with the suction wand, which is important because no one wants to become a drooling toddler at the dentist. I mean even though it's not your fault it's embarrassing. So she keeps me looking like an adult, which I appreciate. She was also gentle and comfortable and this has been my experience with all the hygienists. After a good cleaning I feel like a movie star and my dentist comes in and you won't believe this, but he was human. Like an actual human. At other dentist, it feels like I'm talking to a machine that is only interested in teeth and all other things "do not compute." But Dr. Tjan cared about teeth of course, but also remembered who I was. He was able to talk about life outside of dentistry and I was even able to forgive him for being a Cleveland sports fan because if you're a Cleveland sports fan, you have it hard enough. He's a great dentist, he pointed me in the right direction for how to care for my teeth and then let me be on my way. My whole experience was great. I'm never pointing to a random dentist office again I'm just going to Rose Dental. read more

This place sucks. The dental hygienist gave me the most uncomfortable cleaning I've ever had in my life. Then, while I was having my cavities filled, the young Asian dentist and his technician talked the entire time about their European vacation. It was beyond obnoxious. I actually felt like I was a third wheel on a date since they wouldn't stop flirting with each other. The doctor actually snapped at me when I asked him to smooth out the outside of my tooth. It still doesn't feel right and he acted like I was wasting his time or bothering him. They charged me for the services. I paid the bill and left. Then I get a phone call saying that need to void my previous transaction and charge me for more money. I was pretty pissed off because when I went in to give them more money, they couldn't even give me an itemized bill detailing why they had to charge me more. They said they would email it to me since I was on my lunch break and didn't have all day to wait around. Apparently one computer wouldn't pull up my record. They never did.
