I made an appointment with Dr Fram because she was listed as a specialist of corneal damage, and wearing contacts for more than 15 years has caused small veins to start growing on my cornea, which could become a very serious problem in terms of vision loss. I explained my concern to Dr Fram after spending a half hour of vision tests ($150 not covered by insurance) in the hands of various technical assistants (all very friendly and seemingly competent), and she barely listened to me. I wanted to know what my options were, whether I should stop wearing contacts, consider laser surgery, go back to glasses or what, and expected to get advice from her. Instead she just told me that "she was pretty sure I didn't have glaucoma", but "it was her job to double check" so I should schedule a series of tests for that (tests that take more than 2 hours and are scheduled only at certain times on certain days, with nonexistent flexibility... for something she is "pretty sure" I don't have). I insisted on the vein problem, and she just said she "knew what I was talking about" and I should get a fitting with their contact specialist (another $300). She simply would NOT answer my questions about what my best course of action would be to prevent my problem from getting worse... I spent 2.5 hours in that office, paid $200 out of pocket, and left with no answers, no advice, no information. Never going back there! read more

Dr. Fram is not only an Angel, loving, sensitive, amazing caring person, but she is a genius... She gave my eye sight back to me. She's so thoughtful, comforting and gentle and actually cares about you as an individual not just a number. I love her and love the professionalism and the care that ALL her staff shows to others. Advanced vision care is one of the best places I've been Nicole is the most caring doctor and really knows what she's doing. She helped me with a very complicated I surgery and it was really comforting to have somebody not only knows what she's doing but explain it to me in detail and meet me feel comfortable about the whole process . it was phenomenal not only was she an incredible surgeon but she genuinely cares about her patients I also got a bill that I had a question about the office called me back immediately to take care of it and answered all my questions. Dr. Samuel Masket is one of THE best refractive surgeons in California, surrounding states and probably even the surrounding continents. He is a well-renowned cataract surgeon as well as an eye physician who helps many individuals who have suffered from major ocular injury/trauma. And while this may sound scary to some - trust me when I say it is life-altering for those who undergo the procedure... Dr. Masket utilizes Morcher devices, these artificial irises after obtaining consent from the FDA ... to help those who suffered injury to their eye (usually bungee cord injury). To see these procedures completed and see the patients the day after surgery... amazing. Need an eye physician? Got Masket? He specializes in cataract surgery but does provide general ophthalmic care. Be forewarned, he gets very busy. Not only because of demand for appointments but also because he is always traveling to speak somewhere as an invited speaker. I just spoke with my girl Claire (Wonder Woman of that front office) and she said they're booking appointments in June now (tomorrow is April 1 but it's not a joke!)... Park at the meters by Roxbury Park or on Spaulding behind Beverly Hills High School if you can. Building parking is murder. Trust me - ask the girls at the office. Why did I leave if the Dr. is so great you ask? Well, the 1.5-2.0 hours commute for 25 miles got to me and I had the opportunity to try something new and challenging (in the opposite direction of traffic, to boot!) Appointments only - but you might get same day appointments with Dr. Gavin Bahadur, Dr. Masket's associate. Stellar care, stellar staff. Can't beat it in West L.A. P.S. Dr. Shami practices here after six weeks with another opthomoligist I saw her. I had a extremely painful cornea ulcer in my right eye. She explained what I had and how she would treat it...I would need to see her day to day to make sure the treatment was working. Great job, saved the sight in my right eye. These people care! They have done everything possible to find out what the problem was and how to properly treat me. I have made amazing progress. Dr. Shamie took care of me all the way through. She goes above and beyond %100. + My eye had all of a sudden swollen such and was in intense pain, along with light sensitivity. I could only barely squint one eye. I immediately went to the doctor. They got me in quick and paid attention to all information I was giving them. They had to go to a specialist to do some tests and found out that I had fungus spreading in my right eye!! I had to call out of work for a week, and cancel events due to not being able to open my eye. The saw me often, and after much care, I am all healed!! i am truly grateful!! My mom just had surgery at this eye center and I could not be more grateful to them, not only for basically fixing her vision to near perfection, but for the way they treated me as her caregiver - calling to update me during her surgery and walking her out to my car when her surgery was done so I didn't have to pay for parking. The entire staff was beyond helpful and went out of their way to soothe my nerves. I've been to a lot of doctor's offices, but this office was a well oiled machine, which made the process so smooth and easy. They sent me all the new patient forms in advance, so I didn't have to sit there for 30 minutes and fill it all out. I went in within 5 minutes of my appointment time! Amazing! There were a lot of test that needed to be completed, which required a lot of coordination between the nurses/PAs. It felt like an assembly line...one finished with me, took me to a small waiting room, and another one showed up and took me to do the next test, and the next test...it was really smooth and well coordinated. Wasn't a direct patient of Dr. Shamie, but had the opportunity to meet her at my grandma's appointment. The office staff are extremely friendly here and make sure you have a comfortable experience the whole time. I noticed that the nurses and O.D's were extremely considerate towards all their patients. I knew the moment Dr. Shamie walked in that she was an expert at what she does. My grandma needs cataract surgery soon and we were there for a pre-op. The worst place ever. The staff was rude and very short tempered. The 1st day I picked up the glasses I told them the vision was blur and I could only see shutting one eye. The told me to wait 2 weeks because my eyes needed to get use to the glasses. For 3 months I would return the glasses and they would bend them a different way. After the 3 months I was told I had to pay for another exam. I had to return to wearing my old glasses however; I went to another Optometrist, picked up my new glasses and everything was perfect. I showed them the prescription from Advance and they pointed out how and why the prescription was all wrong. read more

When my regular optometrist suggested I go to Advanced Vision Care to monitor three emerging conditions in my eyes, I was terrified and not even 50. As it turned out, I had abnormally high pressure in my eyes, glaucoma and was beginning to develop cataracts. Dr. Juliet Chung took excellent care of me. She has since left the practice, but her wonderful team led by Simon the technician, and assisted by Paul (another super tech), continued to take wonderful care of my eyes. These incredible folks were able to get all 3 conditions under control. The atmosphere is pleasant, the office incredibly modern, well-run, clean, and COVID free. Simon is thorough, efficient, deft, and always cheerful ... which when you're getting your eyes dilated, poked, and scanned is an added bonus that's greatly appreciated. When I needed to get my cataracts replaced, Dr. Fram took great care of me and did a wonderful job replacing my lenses. The operation ran like clockwork and her staff made sure I was prepared with the proper drugs and aftercare before I went to the clinic. Years later, when I woke up during the pandemic with an eye full of blood, Dr. Fram facetimed me and alleviated my fear that something had happened ... as it turned out, it was nothing more and was gone the next day. I was so grateful that I had a caring doctor I would respond so I didn't have to go to an ER during the pandemic. I highly recommend this medical practice. I recently had cataract surgery in both eyes by Dr Neda Shamie. I was honestly very nervous about the entire process fearing some potential catastrophic event affecting my sight. I first saw Dr. Neda Shamie last May (2016) from an emergency referral. Dr. Shamie saved my vision and comforted me through a horrific health scare. I had my first appointment with Dr. Nicole Fram about two weeks ago. The doctor is nice enough, and this review is NOT for her. (If I were reviewing the doctor herself, she'd get 3.5 stars). I only went in for a routine eye exam as I'm nearly out of contacts and needed a new prescription. Let me tell you that the entire ordeal took ONE HOUR AND 50 MINUTES. I am not even exaggerating. I went in a 8am, didn't leave until 9:50. First of all, I had to wait to see the doctor for about 15 minutes. Then I went in, the tech did a few exams, including the vision test... um WHAT KIND OF PLACE ALLOWS TECHS TO DO VISION EXAMS??? Correct me if I'm wrong, but techs shouldn't be doing the same work as optometrists. What kind of qualifications do they have to write me a prescription??? Seriously? Anyway, they dilated my eyes, and put me in a little dark room and told me they would come get me in about 10 minutes and then the doctor would see me. JUST KIDDING! 45 minutes later someone comes to get me. I continue to wait in an exam room for another 20 minutes. The doctor finally comes in, rushes through her exam and then they send me on my way to the optical shop, where they try to sell me Daily contact lenses, which are way out of my price range.. um what kind of business are you people running?? They wouldn't even run a diagnostic on my eyes to find out what my exact contacts prescription was [LAZY]. They made me go home and look at my box and call in with the BC and DIA numbers. They said they would mail me my prescription. Literally 10 days later, I still hadn't received it, so I called again and guess what! The receptionist who I had called initially with my information, never made sure that my numbers were recorded, nor was my prescription ever mailed out. I had to go back over there and pick up my prescription in person. Meanwhile, I had used the prescription Dr. Fram's office wrote me for glasses to get a new pair from LensCrafters (who were all wonderful and have wonderful customer service skills). GUESS WHAT! My glasses turned out too strong because of the prescription the TECH at Advanced Vision Care wrote! Of course no one in that office can do anything right. In sum, Advanced Vision Care massively overbooks patients, no one pays attention to the job they are supposed to be doing, and they try to sell you sh*t you don't want! I will NEVER go back there again and I also recommend you DON'T go there for routine exams. read more

I had a visit with DR. FRAM at this office. I will never go here again. I made the appointment on my lunch break and I asked the receptionist if I should schedule it after work because I don't have much time for lunch. She said that wasn't necessary because what I require will not take long. I arrived and waited in the front for 15 minutes then was escorted to the exam room. I sat in the exam room for 45 minutes! (no exaggeration). I went out to the receptionist and said that I couldn't wait for much longer. The doctor comes in a few minutes later, no hello, no apology, no acknowledgment that she has no professional courtesy.... she proceeds to say "So you're pissed, huh". What the hell? What kind of doctor says that? She looks at my eyes for, literally, 2 minutes and says you're fine... then walks out. NEVER again. read more

Dr. Fram is friendly, though she is always rushing. Additionally the two times I went, both times I received bills from them 18-24 months after the visit date, saying I owed them over $200 each time. WHAT!?! I have vision care and they are on the plan and an annual eye exam is free after the co-pay. I fought and fought and eventually they said just send me a check for $150 and we'll close the account - it sounded like they always do that the way the lady said it - like it is a negotiation- I DIDN"T OWE anything but could not deal with these people anymore. Very unfortunate. The same thing happened to my wife and she never went back - I should not have gone back but the first bill didn't come in time for me to know since they bill it so late! Two types of insurance and the same problem - what are they trying to do. I am still mad about this weeks later. read more

I'm sure Dr. Fram herself is a very good doctor, and she seems to care about giving her patients the best possible outcome. There is a long wait to see her and she is described as the eye surgeon who fixes the problems that less competent doctors create. Her office has a thorough screening process, and puts you through a litany of diagnostic procedures to assess your problem before you are seen by the doctor -- then she's in and out. She did perform a surgery on my eye that, as it happens, did not alleviate the underlying problem, which is likely due to the recurring nature of my medical condition. She's interested in performing the surgery again and I am reluctant to try a third time, given the complicated aftermath. (Previously another eye surgeon performed the same surgery, with the same non-productive result.) My gripe with going to see Dr. Fram is the front office staff. While the technicians in the back are always helpful and pleasant, the front office reception staff is not. If anything, the front receptionists seem downright sullen. They only speak to you to tell you to go away and sit down, and respond to any inquiries with a huffy "you're annoying me" vibe. It really affects the experience of being at Dr. Fram's office, since a good deal of time is spent waiting in the front room. It's not just one time, like someone is having a bad day, it's EVERY time. In addition, parking is expensive (no validation, of course, and no street parking in Century City) , and upon finally leaving, traffic in Century City and Beverly Hills moves at a crawl, so overall, I'm always glad to get my appointments with her out of the way. read more

Dr Shamie is wonderful. She was very familiar with my condition "Fuchs Dystrophy", she gave me information that 2 previous specialists had not even mentioned! I was so disappointed to find out that this business charges new patients $350 just for the LASIK consultation. Granted that amount is applied to the surgery in the end and it is just a small amount in the whole scheme of how much LASIK costs, I have observed that the industry standard is a FREE consultation. Offering consultations free of charge gives patients the freedom to make an informed decision about their surgery and not feel trapped into going with a doctor just because they are $350 in the hole. I probably would have gone with this practice for my surgery given my insurance was offering 15% off services, they have good reviews and it is right across the street from my work, but this policy really turned me off. Sorry, but I want to meet my surgeon and know his/her practice prior to making any monetary commitments! read more
