Really not understanding how this place isn't rated higher. I got an appointment literally within 2 days, the staff were great, helped me out when ZocDoc was giving me fits uploading my insurance. Everyone was so friendly, my dry eyes were fixed, the doctor was friendly and communicative, and all his staff are wonderful to deal with. His optician (forgot her name) is awesome, so friendly. I had an appointment for my annual eye exam on Wednesday at 9:40 a.m. During the visit, I underwent some preliminary tests with an assistant while waiting for the doctor. However, after waiting for 10 minutes, the doctor still hadn't arrived. Since I had to go to work, I rescheduled the appointment for Friday at the same time--9:40 a.m. On Friday, I arrived five minutes early. The assistant asked me to wait, so I did. By 9:50, I asked the front desk how much longer the wait would be. After checking with the doctor, they informed me I would need to wait an additional 30 minutes and asked if I wanted to reschedule again. I was extremely frustrated. If the doctor wasn't going to be available at 9:40, they should have scheduled me for 10:30 instead. This experience felt like a complete waste of time. read more

I met Dr Brooker jn 2023 when I had messed up LASIK. he is so knowledgeable and helpful I trust him extensively. from botches LASIK I seen him weekly with having to wear contacts hating this process but long story short. as others Dr after the LASIK put me in wrong contacts he's the only one that got me to see ! but put up with my anger from another Dr boched LASIK . regardless I'm jn glasses now and go to him as he is still correcting my terrible eye problems and condition. . he understands and is very very knowledgeable. excellent Dr his staff the girls are fantastic with the extended knowledge to take care of you when he is not there . they are tremendous. they cut the glasses they do everything! read more

Doctor and staff are nice. I made three pairs of glassed recently. First pair they made it incorrectly. 2nd pair prescription is wrong. 3rd pair they made it right. All three pairs took one month unlike they said two weeks. And the office is often closed without notice. read more

Dr. Booker and his entire staff are amazing. I have very complicated vision (lasik/dry eyes/etc.) and Dr. Booker ALWAYS gets me a prescription I can actually see very good with. At some point I'll need to get cataract surgery, but for now I am just happy he can find a prescription that works well given all of my past surgeries and complications. He's the BEST! read more

Dr. Booker gets the stars. If I were guaranteed to see him I would absolutely go back. I worked as an optician for over a decade with truly great doctors. Dr. Booker (for the very short time I got to speak to him) was wonderful. He was thorough and personable. However... while the staff was generally friendly, my frustration started when they got my son started on pretest while I did paperwork which I thought was a good sign, they were being efficient with their time. Then the front desk person came up to me to inform me my copay would be $98. I asked why (knowing exactly what she was doing) when my copay was supposed to be $10 each? She explained it was because there was also a $39 fee for the special scan they offer. I said, no you didn't ask me about that. She stuttered over why I had to have it or they might dilate me. I said again, you didn't ask me. I did this for a long time and there is nothing I find more irritating than people who try to slide in charges instead of educating their patients of the value of the scan and letting them make an informed decision. Then after being booked with Dr. Booker my son and I were seen by his student. While she was very nice, she was also (obviously) too new to work with a 5 year old in his first exam and took way too long to do parts of the exam that are most uncomfortable. She then had Dr. Booker come in to review her findings and make a diagnosis. He was very patient and kind to my son and really took his time to explain things and answer questions. Honestly, it's difficult to find good doctors in this valley and Dr. Booker is a good one. Just pay attention to your charges and confirm you're going to see him if you're working with a serious eye issue or have small children. I know everyone has to learn, but putting a student with a 5 year old first time patient is unwise and sloppy scheduling. Dr. Booker, please speak to your staff about the fee issue. Had I not had the chance to meet you this review would have a few less stars, if for no other reason than that I hate underhanded sales tactics. read more

The physician gets the star. He's good and thorough. His staff needs help. I stated my daughter gets frequent and severe migraines. It was very important she got her glasses as soon as possible. They said they will call within 5-10 days. They never called. I'm highly disappointed they were not on top of this. Meanwhile my daughter is trying to sit through class everyday on the computer and suffering. I even spent an extra $200 that I didn't plan on spending. I LOVE this place! Dr Brooker is an exceptional doctor, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the office is high tech. I've had red, irritated eyes for as long as I can remember. I thought I just had to live with it. Dr Brooker did such a thorough exam. He prescribed incredibly helpful eye drops along with three MiboFlo treatments. I had two blocked glands on my eyelids before starting the MiboFlo treatments. It was amazing how quickly the glands cleared up after the treatments. Bonus, it was extremely relaxing. I joked that it felt like a spa treatment. I'm thrilled! I can't remember the last time my eyes were this clear and healthy. read more

I've been coming to this place for years and years loved the atmosphere but then they kept rescheduling my appointment because the doctor wasn't in for whatever reasons then finally I get to actually go and waited for half an hour to finally be called to sign some things (there was a couple ahead of me) they know me well and the insurance I have which is important and for some reason it didn't occur to them to tell me they no longer accept my insurance while I sat there waiting like a dumbass. Not there in person, in emails or in the calls of everytime it got rescheduled. If I had the money for it I definitely wouldn't have minded but it's the fact they didn't say a thing until I was asked to sign about the fees and that is insane on its own the overall appointment without getting contacts or glasses would've been 120-140 ??? I have an auto-immune disease called Sjogren's Syndrome, diagnosed 5 years ago in Colorado. I have been to several Optometrists and 2 Opthalmologists regarding my severe dry eye; eye drops, steroid drops, ulcer on my cornea, gels at night, infections, antibiotics, moist heat eye patches morning and night, plugs, changing eye glass prescriptions....absolutely miserable and no way to live. I had an Optometrist here for the year that I have lived here, and she could not help me. She couldn't even recommend an eye specialist for me to see! By the Grace of God, He landed me at Dr. Brooker's Advanced Vision Institute! What a blessing Dr. Brooker has been. He is brilliant, caring, patient, and The Dr. to help you gain back your quality of life. He has done more for me with options to alleviate my severe eye condition, than even the Best in Colorado. Nevada, I am learning, is in general, not the greatest in medical care. I highly recommend!! Note: He changed my glasses prescription and for the first time in years, I can see clearly!! read more

Dr. Brooker is the freakin' best! He truly cared to listen to my boring childhood story about me accidentally stabbing myself in the eye with a backscratcher at the age of ten. (and now you just read it, your welcome.) Him, Nina and David are ABSolutely Amazing!!!! They have the most genuine personalities and I felt so comfortable being there! So why 4 stars? Because I am a cheapskate and my insurance didn't cover my $57 copay fee!!! Is that their fault, no. But I intended to only spend about $60 or so and I left spending about $200... but hey... once again, that's not their fault! With that said, I am very grateful for their team and I will be returning soon. On March 15th 2019 I went to Advanced Vision Institute on Eastern with my fiance for an eye exam I had scheduled just a day or two before. We arrived early and went into the office expecting to fill out paperwork as it was my first time there as a patient. My fiance had an appointment there in 2017. The lady at the front desk was friendly and professional, took my information. That's when things became odd. She then informs me that there's a $39 MANDITORY eye imaging test that isn't covered by my insurance. I said no because I wasn't informed of this when I called to schedule the appointment. She then says, okay how about I charge you $20 for it, and again I say no. She then says, okay, but we will need to dilate your pupils. I also refuse that because of past experience with it causing crippling headaches. After the doctor sees me (he was helpful, and pleasant), I go to look at frames and couldn't find anything that I like. They ask me to come back the following week to look at new frames. I ask them to give me a copy of my new prescription, and we leave. The next day I call them and ask them for one piece of info that was miising from my script. The P.D. (pupillary distance) was missing, and it's needed to order glasses. When I call them and ask for it, they tell me that they always charge $20 for that information. I asked them why, and they hung up on me. When I called back, the lady again says that's how we've always done things. On March 21st 2019 my fiance had an appointment there as well, so I went along wanting to confront them with important information I had learned about them trying to charge for prescription info. We arrive at the office, and again, the lady behind the desk tells us about the $39 MANDITORY eye imaging test that isn't covered by our insurance. My fiance refused, and they said well we will dilate your pupils this time then, (but they never did). I informed them that I found information from the Federal Trade Commission (You can't require patients to pay an extra fee, or buy eyeglasses or contact lenses in exchange for the prescription. You also can't require a patient to make a purchase from you in order to get an eye exam). I also told them that if they continued to ask for a fee in exchange for prescriptions, I would file a complaint with the FTC, the Nevada Board of Nevada Board of Optometry, and even the insurance company. It was then, and only then did another lady come in, and say "We will give you that measurement information today free of charge". As if she was doing me a favor. My concerns are, how long have they been telling people that there's a mandatory $39 test that isn't covered by insurance. Because we saw a total of 7 or 8 people come into the office between both visits we had, and every one of them was told the same thing we were, that their insurance didn't cover it, which I find odd to say the least. Secondly, how many people have paid their $20 fee for a piece of information they are supposed to provide when it's requested either in person or most likely after because, I would guess that most people are like me, I didn't know what a P.D. Number was until I needed it to order glasses online, or purchase them elsewhere, and then they were stuck when they called to get it until they paid the fee, which they aren't allowed to charge. I feel as if they are taking advantage of people, and I won't allow them to do that to us. I wanted to make sure that others knew, what I didn't until now, to prevent this from happening again. Their billing practices are questionable, they try to get you to pay for things they never told you about, they charge for info they have to provide upon request. I most certainly won't return to this office again. Side note: Before I posted this review on here on Yelp, I saw a review from someone else who mentioned the PD issue. Dr Brooker responded to it saying that they didn't make the glasses themselves at that time. I know that that do make them in house now, because Dave the optician told me they started doing it in house to keep quality control in line. It would appear that They simply can't stop themselves from charging people for the info they need to make their own decisions. They try to charge for the PD info, even though the FTC says that charging for prescription info isn't allowed. read more

Nearly false advertising on the eye exam coupon. They give you $150 off the frames but then charge $700 for frame, lens, tint, and progressive lens. I want to give this business 5 stars, because they are very thorough and do a great job with their exams. Unfortunately it turns out they don't have your best interest at heart, which is somewhat of a letdown. Let me explain. I am ordering glasses online, using a prescription from here. The prescription does NOT include the PD (pupillary distance), so I called to get it. They have it on record. The lady on the phone explained that they don't give it out, and I need to go to the office and pay $25 for it, because "people are using it to order online" and they won't be responsible. This is obviously complete nonsense, since the entire prescription has all of the data needed, and this LAST piece of information doesn't make them any more liable than the other measurements. Basically they want to make $25 of YOUR savings by ordering online. They would rather let you measure your own PD in the mirror and risk that you get bad glasses, than let you have this information for free. You already paid to have it measured, remember? So they prefer to make $25 over your well being. I find that utterly despicable, but if you can live with that, then I would give them 5 stars. As it is, I am very concerned about this business moral stance regarding your health versus their cash flow. read more

I got a groupon for my boyfriend to get his eyes checked here. Our first visit was great, we came in and the doctor was very friendly and helpful. My boyfriend had a really bad eye infection and the doctor seemed to be very concerned. We don't have insurance so he was understanding and gave us sample eye drops to help with the infection. Today we came in again to get his eyes rechecked and make sure everything is fine. Again, the staff and doctor were friendly. The doctor seemed very knowledgable and answered some questions my boyfriend had about LASIK. I definitely recommend this place to anyone who needs to get an eye exam. Best optometrist in town for sure. He's super personable and very knowledgeable. I've been coming here for the past 2 years and I love how friendly the staff is. However I didn't leave 5 stars because there has been a lot of errors in regards to the staff. The first most frustrating thing is, they don't have a phone that they actually pick up. Because of this, it makes it nearly impossible to place order for contacts. I went down there to place an order for contacts last year, and found that I didn't receive them for what felt like a month to two months. Want to give 4.5 stars. Overall positive experience. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Dr Brooker was EXCELLENT. Took his time and explained everything to me. Very thorough eye exam. Felt comfortable and confident that I had a knowledgable, caring Dr doing the eye exam. I was fortunate enough to have vision insurance. Not sure what price would be like without insurance. Hoping something I can afford, because I'd like to continue seeing Dr Brooker in the future, whether or not I still have vision insurance. Definitely recommend this office. What Crooks. Their Groupon shows that their eye exam is normally $450 but you can get an amazing deal for $63.50. However the deal does not include a fitting which is up to am additional $105. Which means the Groupon eye exam and fitting is $168.50. However, w/o using a Groupon the eye exam and fitting if you just call in is $140. I am so offended by this. What a bunch of dirt bags. And to claim the original cost is $450,is even more insulting. I will tell 25 people about this Ripoff business. read more

Pros: Dr. Brooker is awesome! VERY thorough and a great eye doctor. Cons: I purchased an eye exam (for contacts) on Groupon ($62), but when I got into the office, I was told I had to pay an additional $99 for a 'fitting'. I wasn't happy about that, but I went ahead with the exam. After the exam, I was told that if I purchased a year's worth of ACUVUE contact lenses at $260, I would qualify for a $50 in-office rebate (part of the Groupon deal), plus a $160 rebate from ACUVUE, however I just processed my rebate online today...BUT it's only a $40 rebate! (The $160 is for a different contact lens offered by ACUVUE). I had purchased the Groupon as a means to save a few dollars...but ended up paying about $100 more than I normally do. Meh! read more
