Purchased my slightly used X5 from Advantage a little over three years ago. I had a good experience and, in retrospect, I've been pleased with everything about the purchase except my purchase of the windshield insurance. I would never, ever recommend anyone to pay for this insurance. But if you do, read ALL of the fine print and understand there will be absolutely NO exceptions. Also, understand this insurance is not with BMW but is handled by a specialty insurance company so you have little to no leverage if there is an issue. If you just insist on throwing your money away (aka purchasing the windshield insurance) please contact me, I'll give you my Zelle info, and you can send the money to me. At least I will use your money for something productive and worthwhile. As far as service has been concerned, for the most part I've been pleased. The work performed has always been excellent as I've had no issues or problems. In addition they have provided courtesy transportation both to and from my residence. I did have one issue when I scheduled service in the afternoon that the service provider said could be finished before closing and then could not, forcing me to reschedule my appointment after I was already on the road headed to the dealership. read more

I would like to say first of all Daryl the fill in salesman was awesome and that is the only reason I have placed two stars. He did the best he could with the people he had to work with. Let's start by saying that I'm a relatively easy person to get along with. We saw the vehicle online and stated to Albie that we were going to be in town in two days to look at the vehicle. The vehicle was not one my wife's first choice due to the dirt that she saw on the vehicle in the pictures, but I tried to look pass that at first. The night beforehand I asked Albie to give me 5 min and I will call him after he text the price to me. I called and no answer. The next day we showed up at the dealership and the car was nowhere to be found and Albie was off. I went inside and ask the receptionist about the car and he set me up with Daryl who was finishing up with another customer at the time. Darryl immediately went to work to find the vehicle. He came back with it for us to look at. The car was filthy and he apologized for it being so. He said that they normally detail the car beforehand but somehow this car had a lot of inquiries so they couldn't get it cleaned up. We then took the car for a test drive and decided to go with it. We told them that we're from out of town so they assured us that the car would be ready around the same time tomorrow which was 3:30. I give Darryl a list of concerns about the car in which I was assured that they would all be taken care of when I pick the car up because he said they do a full service and change out all the fluids. We left for the day and came back the next day around the same time and the car was just about to go into detailing. When the vehicle came back it looked like they shampooed the carpet and ran the car through an automatic car wash because of dirt marks on the center section of the front bumper for where you could see where the machine could not reach. I did not have a problem with that, but what I had a problem with was because when I got there to pick the vehicle up, they were way behind and all they did was inspected the vehicle for registration, gassed it up, changed two tires, and detailed it. They did not even changed the internal cabin filter for which I told them we were allergy sufferers and needed that done even If I had to purchase the filter. Around 6:20pm three hrs later the car was ready. When I got into the car I immediately saw a warning that said "Services past due". I checked it out and it was for brake fluid flush passed due since January 2020 seven months ago. I then ask Albie who was ducking us all afternoon. He was trying explain that it was not a safety concern and that it's nowhere a big deal. I told him it was a problem if you guys say that you fully serviced the vehicle and that your a Class A Dealership and is held to a higher standard. Because of the time and I had to drive 200 miles to get back home, I ask if they would allow me to go to a sister company where I live and get it done and bill them. Albie went and ask his boss.His boss told him to go and have the tech reset the service reminder. Albie came back and said the tech refused to reset a service reminder without the service being done. At that time I had enough I told my wife let's go, A company that represents the BMW brand with no integrity is a total misrepresentation of what the brand is about. The BMW Brand is about customer neededs over profits. This would be the last time that I visit this company. While waiting I went over to Momentum BMW to get some parts and had a totally different experience. That was the service expected and the sense of pride in BMW that I was accustomed too. Advantage you have a lot of catching up to do. This is definitely not up to the standards and level of service that BMW represent class wise. After I got home I checked the area under the hood and saw an ungodly amount of leaves stuck down in the cabin filter area and was just horrifying to look at. It filled up a five gallon Shop vac so much I had to empty it out. read more

A routine brake service turned into a two week ordeal and constant mistakes. After I dropped off my car, It took 6 hours to let me know that I needed some additional services and I wouldn't haven't known if I didn't check in with them. It took an hour for a courtesy ride to pick me up. There was no quality control and my car was worse off than when I dropped it off. On the following day, they towed the car back to fix their mistakes and took 9 hours to give me an update. The update was the same exact same update as the previous day. after they fixed their mistakes, I was informed that their valet got into an accident with my car. Then it took another week to repair the damage. To be fair, the service manager tried to correct everything but I was never assured that my car was a priority and the lack of communication exasperated the problems. read more

Reached out to Mr. Prather via email per his request with no response at all. Just goes to show how much they really care about customers. I've always loved coming to this BMW service center for the past few times that my car needed service because my service advisor David Guerrero has always been friendly. There have been mishaps in the service in the past (actually each time I took my car for service) such as leaving grease marks on the seats, leaving break pad fluid in the trunk, destroying (perhaps due to carelessness) my trunk cover, my Uber ride getting canceled in the middle of my ride, etc. I've always brought it up to David G and I never really posted a review about it because he always apologizes and seemed to have always tried to rectify the situation by giving us "free car wash" which most dealers doing service do anyways. Today, I walked in for an oil change. And you know how they upsell you with "recommended" stuff? I thought I had said no to everything until it came time to paying. I even texted him that only oil change needed to be done. When it was time to pay the invoice and I heard him say, the total for oil change was $189.99, I remembered my email coupon for $69.99. He seemed to have showed a bit of impatience over that because he said that should've been presented at the time of check-in (which I didn't know) but he took care of it anyways. Even though he said he has a customer waiting. He forgot that I'm a customer too. After taking care of that from the inside office or whatever that was, he came back and told me the total was $389. I was surprised and I told him I never signed up for a particular service he was charging me for. He said I did and showed me my signature. I said I don't remember signing up for that, etc. after literally a few seconds of going back and forth, he all of a sudden said with a big attitude "You know what, I'm detaching myself from your account. I'm not even going to charge you, your vehicle is ready." And handed me my keys. I was appalled by the attitude. Maybe he's having a bad day. Maybe the customer waiting for him is more important than me. But I've never had anyone give me this kind of attitude before, especially after so many other things that happened in the past that I could've written negative reviews for or fuss about. Any issues I've had, I've always brought it up to him to give Advantage BMW Midtown a chance to correct it. I would have rather paid for the service that I got than get the kind of attitude from a service advisor. From this point on, I'm taking my car to another BMW service center. read more

I am very disappointed in the service department. The first time I set an appointment and dropped off my car at 7:30am because I was having problems with my connected drive; I was told I would be given a call around noon with an update to what's going on and when my car will be ready. I came back around 4pm, I was told I had to wait a little longer in the waiting area. 30 min later the service agent came and asked for my connected drive login, he come back another 30 min later saying they couldn't fix my car or figure what was wrong and I would have to set another appointment for another day. This was supposed to be because they needed the car longer so I was supposed to have a loaner car. We set the appointment again for the following week Monday at 7:30am. Over the weekend my AC compressor breaks so I thought perfect because I already had an appointment setup. I dropped the car off and told the service guy of the new development on top of the old one. Again the same guy said he'd call me around noon with what they find. No call again and when I got back to pick up my car around 4pm, they hadn't even looked at my car and they didn't have any cars to loan me. The reason why it was scheduled for a different day was so I could have a loaner. What's the point of setting up appointments? I was irate at this point and left because I didn't want to make a scene. I went to a different BMW dealer immediately after, I remember the drive was extremely hot without the AC. The different Dealer BMW West, took in my car without an appointment, set me up with a loaner. It took a couple days to fix my car but my agent there communicated daily and it was the type of experience I expected from Advantage. read more

This wasn't my first impression! I've actually spent 7200$ plus here years ago on a BMW before switching to AUDIs and MERCEDES! I was only doing a friend a favor! Gosh, now I know why Its so much TRASH and continued construction surrounding the facility! I remember the good sales reps like Cornelis! After pulling into the service garage, being stuck inside a parked vehicle while a agent kindly chatted and assisted a client in a vehicle next to mine, I was finally able to open my door! Then laughingly, the agent asked, " Do you have an appointment with us today?" -THANKS FOR ASKING FINALLY! He goes and grabs my assigned service advisor, Barry Thomas. Barry has to be in the middle... He was the only civil person at this point. The rest of the staff setback like high school adolescents smirking and giggling, as both managers came out with their mask and nice blue suits to inform me that though they didn't properly ask the adequate questions during the screening process to properly service my vehicle, "they wouldn't be able to properly assist me". The conversation trickled from professional to my personal work and financial obligations due to possible insurance and a loaner car. If loaner cars are involved or being offered, don't bring a person a mini van or used beat up,l non BMW model, throw around words including policies and procedures, spectating diagnosis, state outrageous out of pocket cost, offer a one way Uber, based on how you personally feel. The treatment and discrimination was all based off of what pretenses? This has happened twice with having this car only two months! Damn near sold a 2020 electrical nightmare! HEY BMW General Manager: WHEN AN APPOINTMENT IS MADE, BMW being a luxury GLOBAL dealership... I'm sure there are certain questions and screenings for service that should be in place, to avoid these situations! After being laid off for one year, having a car accident within that year, I used the last of my savings to purchase a used car from Advantage BMW Midtown. While inspecting/ test driving the car...2006 Jeep Cherokee, I heard a clunk when moving car into gear. " Salesman," told me their technician inspection showed the sound to be caused by a broken motor mount. Well $3500.00 and a rebuilt transmission later, driving the car for only 5 months, there are no signs of a broken motor mount. Poor sales tactics employed by a "Luxury" car dealership! We were emailed an offer to "trade-in" our 2016 5 series for a 2023 5 series. After a short comparison of the emailed offer to a 5 series on Advantage BMW's lot, I was easily able to see that Advantage BMW was scamming me out of my "trade-in". For perspective, the emailed offer was to trade-in my 2016, give me $3,750 in bonus and credits for a financed amount of $55,951 @ 6.09% for 72 months. The monthly payment would be $1,032. I compared that offer to a similar 5 series on their lot - NO TRADE-IN, $4,000 in bonus and credits for a financed amount of $55,810 @ 6.09 for 72 months. This payment was $996.02. The major difference in the offers is that I would Trade-in my 2016 (trade-in valued at $8,000 - $9,500). I was basically donating my 2016 5 series to Advantage, which was worth $8,000 - $9,500. When brought to the attention of the sales manager, all that was received was a "Thank you for your feedback". Very poor customer service and sales tactics. read more

I came there to change my oil, but the guy really tried to take more money from me in any way possible, spark plugs, alignment, etc. I could see that if a person that doesn't know much about cars will be a victim to their sales technique, and will drop some cash because the "professional" advised him so. Going to this Bmw dealer guarantee you will spend more than you should. My first experience at this location, I had Lulu as an advisor. I had a brake light come on, and she let me know nothing was wrong at the time of pick up. She was great, then. My second visit, was a weekend Santa came to town, and Lulu was off, but I just wanted a car wash, something pretty simple. It was going to take a while due to the event they had which was totally understandable. I was contemplating on staying, so I left, and came back because l live on the other side of town, I told my self I might as well stay. Then I lucked up with Kevin, and together we lucked up on getting a great deal accomplished for my oil change package through the manager! I recommend this location to my friends and family always, the customer service is amazing, I love the diversity, and I'm a huge fan of that coffee machine! The beginning of last week, my engine light came on. I text Kevin and asked about loaner cars while my car is being serviced, and he responded promptly with no they don't but he can schedule a service appointment. That was great, but before I scheduled an appointment, I wanted to know if other locations have any available, and he just stopped responding. I went to oreilys and they said it was an emission system issue. So I scheduled an appointment through the app, and I got Miss Lulu when I arrived, which I was okay with because she was great then and I was familiar with her. This time around Lulu was not being as proactive as I would've liked her to be, being that my engine light was on. I called the service department asking for Lulu, and she was no where to be found. I called again and got Radar on the phone, he was great too at the time. He answered all my questions and confirmed everything Lulu said she would. Communication is key with me, and if you tell me to expect something by a certain time. I will hold you accountable to that. After all, I did get my car serviced, and she even scheduled me to get picked up from work. Saturday, my engine light came back on, and I called and asked for Lulu and she doesn't work on Saturdays, okay fine. I asked if Radar was there because he had an idea of the situation of what was going on. He told the rep that answered the phone he will call me back, and I never heard anything back. All three advisors were great but lacked as a whole in communication and that is why I will rate this business a 3/5. read more

On April 12 I took my car in for an oil change. Kevin, my service consultant, indicated the brake fluid service needed to be done and I needed two tires and wheel alignment. I said I would do the tires and wheel alignment at another time. It was a busy day and I waited for my vehicle. When they drove it out I noticed smudge marks on the hood, fingerprints on my door and hood. That's when I noticed the convertible top piece was broken. Kevin and Brandon, the service drive manager, concluded that it must have done when the car got cleaned. They assured me it would be taken care of and not to worry. The parts needed to be painted and I knew it might take time. I brought it in by appointment and they said it would take time so they brought me home. Later that day they called and said they replaced both sides of the convertible top parts. I picked it up and was very impressed that they went out of the way to make it right. I would give a half star if I could. Shady and difficult parts and services department. Let me preface by saying that I am an ex mechanic turned physician. The car in question was a 2001M3 which engine was in perfect working condition prior to Alternator failure. The car ran smooth Aside from needing a couple shocks and brakes and maybe new tires. Being a mechanic I had diagnosed the problem But did not have the means to address the problem. First they insisted that I pay the 200$ diagnostic fee when requesting only an alternator change. Then decided to waive this fee after stating that if the car did not function afterwards it was not their fault if the problem wasn't the alternator. They replaced the alternator as asked, and upon receipt of the car, they gave me a $8000 list of recommended repairs. They had called and asked me to do these repairs and I had declined. Immediately after Receiving the car I noticed the engine would stutter between 4-5000 RPMs. After replacing the fuel pump, I spoke to a Bavarian motor specialist, who recommended to start with a tuneup though it was not due for one. The spark plugs in cylinders two through six we are loose to the point of not needing a wrench to remove them. The 6th cylinder plug requires either a smart mechanic or the removal of a bay cover to drop in a wrench. This one was still fully tight. (Was inconvenient to loosen) As a ex-mechanic I know that if this problem is not addressed soon like I did by myself, it will lead to catastrophic engine failure and loss, stripping the spark plug threads. Before you say well did they just come loose, ask yourself how much of a coincidence that is. Right after an alternator failure. I could have easily taken this car back in and they would have stated that my original problem was not due to the alternator and they would've charged me thousands of dollars to fix some thing that was not broken by tightening the spark plugs back up. This is how mechanic scams work. Even under warranty they will try to deny your claim (They have also done this to me with a different vehicle, claiming it was wrecked and painted so suspension wasn't covered: Bullshit). However at least they won't break other stuff because they know they aren't getting paid for by a consumer. FYI: this is the third location in 2 years I've left this review. "Customer service" - had commented "looking into it", or "will reach out to you" on every review. Nothing has come of it. #3 below. read more

I guess I would have to consider myself fortunate that this time and other visits have been very positive experiences. On this occasion and in the previous one I had the fortuitous opportunity to have Harry Fernandez as my service advisor in both situations. In this most recent case, I had an emergency tire blow-out late Saturday night, caused by Houston top notch roads. Roadside assistance did a great job of getting a tow truck and getting me home. I followed up on Monday and Harry did a great job in handling the repair and keeping me appraised and timing of completion. He also ensured I had an Uber pick me up and bring me down to service and car was ready. I understand that there are a lot of other clients they have to deal with, with various car situations that not every scenario is perfect so I try to cut these guys some slack. I just had my parking lamp malfunction light on, and this is the third time this has happened within one year, the past two times I brought my car here and they fixed under the warranty for free. I should've known by that time if they couldn't even fix a lamp appropriately they are not great at other things!! Anyways, this time they are charging me for the parking lamp because my warranty has just expired, even they just replaced the lamp less than a year ago. On top of that, they also made list of items of my car and suggesting them to be fixed/ performed, which totals over 2500 dollars. I just had my car serviced here back in May 2019, and none of these "needs to be fixed" items were suggested to me at all!! I am very disappointed at them and I'm having a feeling that they have been lying to me. I will be telling people I know about this experience so they will be aware of this. I had scheduled an appointment for 9am for just an oil change and my vehicle was not done until 2:30pm. The facility is not handicap accessible or pregnant friendly. Currently in my 3rd trimester (9months pregnant) and had to walk up and down stairs to communicate with my advisor Guglielmo (William) Lentini outside of texting him. He could not give me clear answer as into why it took 5 1/2 hours for my vehicle that was SCHEDULED to be service. Also this was my first time at this location he did not even show where me where to access the lounge like I seen other advisors do. He was also aware this was my first time here. There were no amount snacks or water that could appease my dissatisfaction or hunger. On top that when I did receive feedback on the status of my vehicle he stated that car was in the wash. However prior to this, several associate agents came to notify other customers that the wash was down and all they were able to do was vacuum the vehicles. When I questioned him about how my vehicle was in the wash when I overheard that it was down he looked lost and confused and just repeated that the vehicle was in the wash. Do NOT ever go to this dealership. I dealt with the most horrible salesperson (Darwin Lewis) and Finance Manager (Travis) who lied to me on multiple occasions. After I put down $1,000 dollars and submitted all of the documentation they required for my trade-in, I was told that I could not pick up the vehicle due to "it being in the service shop". Less than 48 hours, after making multiple attempts to contact them, I was informed that the vehicle was sold. I remain floored at the lack of professionalism these people demonstrated!
