Today I spoke with Mr. Ted and confirmed that they we're short staff, but that I can come by around eight and would have a technican take a quick look at my concern about my power steering rack leaking. I arrive at 8 am at Master Care at 2305 Yale Street in the Heights to have them look at how bad my power steering rack and get their opinion on the leak. I was informed that it wasn't leaking to much not very much said mechanic Mr. Michael would again check on next oil change. I was really very happy to hear. I dropped my vehicle off here for brake work and was given a different estimate over the phone than what I received when I requested an itemized estimate. When I tried to say anything, such as requesting more information on parts being used, etc., the individual working with me would interrupt and speak over me. Over the phone he said, "WOW, your brakes really need work." Well, yes, no kidding. I wouldn't be here otherwise. When I thanked him for his time and advised I would be taking my vehicle elsewhere, he was condescending, telling me that this was a standard market cost for this type of work. Most notable was the fact that the estimate was more than double what I ended up paying at another shop in town (which had over 500 reviews and 4.8 stars on Google). Took my Jeep to Master Car Care after seeing all of the positive reviews. Worked with Mario and Matthew to put together a game plan for the dent and scratches on my car after accidentally backing into something. I dropped my car off on Monday and was told it'd be ready by Thursday or Friday but if they could get it done sooner they would. They did not try to take advantage like some of the national paint and body brands but instead worked with me so that I didn't have to pay for any unnecessary parts or work. I'll begin with no I did not call them when my girlfriends car needed a repair they had addressed 3 months earlier - as we could not locate our receipt. She lives 2 hrs away. I took it to a local dealership. Once back in town i stopped in with the bad wheel hub and all our paperwork to which they reminded me several times if i had called in, their Nationwide coverage would have covered the repair. Feeling stupid, i walked out but read once in my car.... nope, it doesn't say anything about Nationwide coverage, and again i couldnt find it to read at the time i needed to get it fixed. And due to my lack of following directions neither gentlemen offered to help any further. I was not going to raise my voice or argue with them as they were quite sure their policy. I have been in this industry long enough to know various options available under these conditions. If they had ANY interest in helping a customer out, they could have sent the bad part back and gotten a credit from whomever they buy their parts through, let alone ask for a labor claim. Did not offer as I did not follow directions. This was a repair of $1234. Initially. Sad. Future repairs or neighbor requests for reliable automotive shops will not be sent here. Edit as of 1/28 Owner researched my visits and discussed with his team, then reached out to me about my experience. Very nice man and displayed real concern for my troubles. Seems we both can learn from this situation and was just surprised he would spend such effort on me. Asked to e-mail him a copy of the repair and would handle it for me. Said this is not common, and why his team wasn't sure how to proceed. Understandable. Can't fault the owner as he does not see every customer and hear the end result, but when he does and gets as involved as he has......explains why his family has been is business over 40 years. Went to this place a while back. I cannot recommend a place that will charge 750.00 to put in a new pcm in a 2008 tahoe. The pcm is right in front on the driver's side right behind the front headlight. All you have to do is reach in remove two small screws replace it . Screw the two small screws back, plug in the harness. That's it your done. You don't even have to be on a step latter. It's done from standing on the ground and reaching in. " that's it" !!. I am really paranoid about my car's functioning and I hate the idea of getting into an accident caused by my lack of knowledge of any existing issues it could have. My first visit to Master Car Care was about my Range Rover having a sudden radiator leak and a "Coolant level low"message that had become a common thing to see on the dashboard, despite refilling the coolant tank twice in the span of 4 days. I freaked out because running a car the way I do it, in the Houston heat, and with no coolant, were all perfect ingredients for engine overheating. I was already picturing myself buying a new engine, how pathetic is that? After calling so many other shops closer to where I live and getting a "Sorry, we are all booked until january" from all of them, Ted at Master Car Care was genuine and told me: " If you drop it off today, I can't look at it today because we close in two hours. But I will look at it first thing tomorrow morning". The following day around noon I received a text message with a link to the repair estimate and initial technician diagnosis, and hours after that I received an itemized quote. That was awesome. It showed me the price for the parts and the labor with a detailed description of each item, it gave me the option to accept or decline each item, and it took me to the final step where I could e-sign the contract so they could get to work right away. Both Ted and John kept me posted on the status of the repair, which made me feel at ease. Talk about customer service skills... When I dropped off the car it was filthy from all the rainy days, and when I picked it up a week later it was pristine because they washed it. That was another very pleasant surprise. A month after that, when the message showed up on the dashboard saying "Brake Pads Worn", I did what I do: I freaked out. I immediately called Master Car Care to ask if they did break jobs, and thank God, the answer was "yes". I rushed to their shop the second that the call finished and dropped off the car that same day. I received the same superb service as the first time, of course. John was very nice and actually very patient, answering all of the questions and concerns I had during the days they were still working on my car. Having Master Car Care & Collision work on my car gives me an immense peace of mind. I just cannot recommend them enough. I've been happy with my experience with Master Car Care, so I wanted to share it with y'all. I've taken my Prius to Master Car Care for my most recent two oil changes and general tune-ups. It's easy to schedule appointments online (you make a request and then normally the next day or two days later, they confirm your appointment by text and email). I like coming here because they're efficient, the price is good, it's convenient to walk to/from if you live in the neighborhood, and the staff are friendly. I was the lucky recipient of an overnight hit-and-run earlier this month, and the driver's side fender was bashed in. I was pretty bummed. I went in to Master Car Care a few days later and John took a look at it, gave me an estimate, and walked me through the expected timeline, process with insurance, etc. I filed my insurance claim with a copy of the estimate, and after I talked to my insurance, I called John to schedule a day to drop my car off. Once I dropped it off, they took care of everything and kept me in the loop as they worked on it. Master Car Care got my car fixed quickly and efficiently. It took a little less than a week to get my car back and it looks GREAT! My car looks brand new. They even cleaned the inside and outside of my car and buffed several years of curb rash off my wheels. My car broke down so I took it to them based on reviews. They fixed my car but had a few issues along the way: 1.) they quoted me a large figure and wouldn't break down the parts cost vs the labor. Shady! 2.) they wouldn't let me see the parts that were broken. They said they were already scrapped. Also Shady! 3.) when they returned my car and I drove it off their premises, my dashboard lights lit up like a Christmas tree with warnings. They didn't drive my car after the repairs otherwise they would have see and cleared the alarms. Super shady! I had to take my car back so they could troubleshoot all of the warnings. got conned into having a service I didn't ask for here. I must give kudos to the owner who did reach out after the initial review but I haven't been able to respond. I can't imagine any positive outcome in this case so I want to share my story: I dropped my vehicle off for an oil change and was told they were backed up which was fine. I just grabbed a ride home. About an hour goes by and I get a call from the shop. Whoever I spoke to told me the transmission "dipstick" was missing and there was transmission fluid "everywhere". (the transmission doesn't have a dipstick, it has a cap) I assumed he could be right because another shop removed my splashguard but I didn't notice until later and I have since replaced. So I don;'t know who to trust now as I have been here before and the experience was completely different. I told the guy on the phone to go ahead and order the part. I did ask him for pics but what I got wasn't a pic of the transmission oil filler opening.(I guess they assume people don't know or perhaps they thought I was stupid?) The next day I went to get the car, I stood in the doorway of the temporary office for a while with no acknowledgement from anyone until I finally spoke up. (That I can handle, who cares in the end?) The guy that I had been working with never ONCE looked me in the eye or even glanced my way. The big fella in the back was cordial and handed me my keys but I thought very little of the no eye contact thing at the time. I believe the advisor's name is on the paperwork,but I won't do that. Like I said, I had the undercarriage part on order so eventually I was going to get underneath the car. Funny, the shop didn't even mention the fact that parts were missing. When I finally got underneath the car, there was no mess. My car has a notorious reputation for its tranny in the past and if I had run the car and lost any significant amount of transmission oil, the tranny would have failed immediately. I also never had any leaks underneath my car at home. Not a single drop. It would be safe to assume that it was never in need of a filler cap. They just knew it was time for me to do the transmission fluid and this is how they went about getting that done. The dealership cost on transmission service on this vehicle is $179 plus tax. I've already had to do it once at 30k so I know what I pay and checked to make sure that was still current at the time of this writing. This shop offers a transmission service that costs a bit more but from I hear, is still a good service (BG). I could have been talked into the benefits of this service since I do have some knowledge about the BG system. I just hope they even did the service because if they're willing to lie to get a better sale, where does it end? As for the alleged missing cap, yes, they charged me for one.
