Awful experience with this company. AAA sent them out to handle my EV problem (fully drained battery with no range, needed a road side charge), confusion on the part of the towing company and AAA meant Advantage sent the wrong guy (super cocky), knew nothing about EV, and tried to jump my car's 12V battery (that doesn't operate the car) and had no idea how to handle the real issue on the main battery being dead so my car wasn't operational. AAA was then to send an Advantage tow truck and dispatched them, 2 employees called to verify the situation "what's wrong with your car?". I finally said "it's just like a car out of gas", I need a tow home (1 mile away) where I can charge. After 30 minutes Advantage cancelled, apparently blown away by this. Another company "Loyal Towing" came 30 minutes later and handled the job beautifully. I was so disappointed in Advantage, I see them all over all the time. I can't recommend them, they really left me in a bad situation, very unprofessional and unreliable. Go with Loyal Towing, they live up to their name! read more

Accepted my pickup then decided to cancel it after. Based on the last weeks reviews this business is not recomendable.

I requested a tow on Sunday morning. They called 30 mins late and said they would be by soon. Thats all fine. When the tech called he didn't sound like he wanted to work and just got easy OT hours after telling me it wasn't covered with aaa and said he couldn't tow it out with his flat bed and needed a dolly tow to get it out of the parking spot and then on to the flat bed. Then told me to tow it 2 miles within Point Loma would cost 700. I called loyal towing and they towed it with a flat bed without using a dolly tow and charged me 150. It was a quality tow and customer service was up to a good standard where as advantage dropped the ball in customer service and pricing. read more

Called AAA to have my MBZ towed to the shop. The steering wheel was locked due to activation of anti-theft device. Thomas the drive called me and said he was 13 minutes out. I let him know I have a service dog to alert me when someone is on property when they are at the door and if I don't see him to please ring the bell, since I was working in my office and might not see he had arrived. He replied, "I will be there in less than 13 minutes can't you just wait outside." When he got here he wanted to checkout the battery... Okay. He said it is in the trunk of the MBZ... it is not in the trunk. I told him it was under the hood. He opened the hood and could only find the jump contact points. I had to show him the battery cover. Then he couldn't get the cover off. It had three clips, so he went to get his tool box. I walked over and I clipped the cover and took it off. Then I told him I got it off for you since were having trouble. He walked briskly back to his truck, got in and left. Thomas should have his future freed up..!!! read more

It's one thing handling logistics but tonight at 8:30pm there was a guy that works there and he gets emotional very fast...I was exchanging simple information with him and he seems psychologically unwell because he would suddenly have emotional reactions and he even started gesturing puppet motions with his hands and walking around aimlessly...this location is unprofessional and they need more stable employees who respect fellow citizens rather than those like this employee who try to belittle citizens and start making gestures etc. instead of being objective and taking care of business. I had called San Diego PD before I drove here and they unfortunately have to send out an officer to mediate. This Towing Company is a bunch of Crooks and the State of CA needs to put them out of business period. My son, had his vehicle towed which is my vehicle but he is using for driving to school and back and when visiting a friend at an apartment complex, apparently, the dog he had in van, was barking so some idiot called the Tow Company and I know for a fact that my son always walks the dog every 20 minutes if he is in the Van. Well surprise surprise, I call the Tow Company and they quote me and when my son gets there to pick up vehicle, the price changed by an addition of $400.00. 1 day it was $380; I called and I had to have my release signed by a notary with seal to release to my son in which I emailed as they DIRECTED ME TO DO SO, so my son get there and they used another stall tactic by stating now it had to be printed out! So my son was so upset and we had to wait another day and of course the price is now $1k. I am fighting this as they are damn crooks and on top of it all the reason they towed the vehicle, because a dog was barking!!!! Not illegally parked, just a dog barking! CROOKS PERIOD read more

If I could give negative stars I would. The people working at this company are scammy and predatory. Our car was towed by Advantage Towing after an accident (it was totaled- we were not at fault). Our car was in their lot for barely 48 hours when we called them and were told that our bill was currently at 676 dollars. We tried to negotiate down the price, but they were extremely rude over the phone and told us flat out "no". They also told us that they do not buy cars and told us that we should just pay the bill and sign over the title to them???? We told them we were considering using a different company that buys junked cars and that would tow it away from their lot for free. The people at Advantage told us that said company would give us no money and that it was worthless to even try. Guess what - the company ended up giving us a check for over 700 dollars and towing the car for free. That same day when my husband went to pay the bill at Advantage so that they would release the car to the other tow company they handed him a bill for over 800 dollars! He asked why the bill had increased 200 dollars. They were incredibly rude and told him to just pay the bill. He refused and asked for an itemized receipt. Then they come back 10 minutes later apologizing saying that the he was correct the bill was actually 676! This company has a contract with the city of San Diego and they use that power to exploit people in vulnerable positions. read more

This is an absolutely horrible company. They are contracted with AAA and sent a technician out to help us with our battery. I mentioned that we would purchase a new one through Costco but the technician claimed that there was only a $5 difference with Costco and their company. He went ahead and replaced the battery but after further research, I discovered that I was overcharged $68 for the exact same battery that Costco carries. I placed a call with the towing company and they would not reimburse me the difference in price despite the fact that I was deceived by the technician and would have made a different decision at the moment. Terrible service. The tow truck driver lost my keys on the transport to the auto body shop, claiming they fell out the window when he was driving. This has caused a huge, multiple day delay in getting my car serviced as a locksmith is now involved. The best part, the tow truck driver just leaves without informing any one of the situation. Well I told Alex that I'd give him a shout out (Thanks Alex, you Rock!) Yesterday I got to work and about 3/4 of the way there I had a extreme amount of vibration with my truck. It was pretty disconcerting and I didn't even want to drive from work to the Garage as it was raining. Breaking down on the freeway is bad enough in these times, but during a rainstorm would be crazy. Used the AAA app (been using them for 28 years) on my phone, submitted the request for a tow, put in the addresses and got a response. Said it would be an hour. I was okay with that as it had been raining so not a big deal as I was at work which was ending in a hour. 20 minutes later got the call from Alex, said he was on his way. Arrived 10 minutes later, hooked up my truck and off we went. Nice drive and good conversation. Would highly recommend. Cheers! read more

Wow wow wow! Outstanding 5 star service. I pulled out of my work driveway after a long day and heard a drum roll...... very flat tire. I pulled into a parking lot and called AAA immediately. It took Gustavo from Advantage towing 4 minutes from the time I hung up with AAA to the time he arrived to help. He assessed the situation and recommend he put my spare tire on. He was very nice, courteous and respectful when moving my belongings out of the trunk and into the backseat, so he could reach the spare. I was back on the road within 20 minutes! Every time I have used this company I have been beyond shocked how they treat their clients. This guys was so lost! He that came out wanted to put the jumper cables on the fuze box! and it started smoking, then he said my battery was fine, then when I asked him what that Voltage was ready he said it was fine. I asked him 3 times and finally he said it read 9, I told him it needed to read 12 Voltage since that's what the Battery suppose to be on my big Van. He said he couldn't change the battery because the car wasn't turning on???? I told him that's why I called him and he got worked up. And literally left! I have been cursed at and my young adult children left on a dangerous roadside for 5 hours in the middle of the night only to be told to go find somebody else. "We make plenty of money from all of the other calls. I'd give a ZERO if I could. Advantage Towing makes the Automobile Association of America (AAA) look bad and after 29 years if they don't choose better vendors will be losing another customer. Beware using this business! On Saturday (07/22/23), at 05:45 AM, after taking a family member at the airport, my vehicle became disabled and unmovable, blocking the number three lane of Harbor Drive near the airport. I activated my emergency flashers, called AAA, gave my location and told them the description of my vehicle (van). Shortly after I received a message saying Advantage Towing was dispatched. Approximately 30 minutes later, a clearly marked Advantage AAA tow truck up behind my stranded vehicle and stopped. Moments later, the driver backed up, drove around me and left the scene and abandoned the call without making any attempt to contact me. Approximately 20 minutes later I received a text from AAA saying Advantage Towing declined the tow assistance and AAA was looking for an another towing provider After waiting for approximately 3 hours the Police arrived and had their towing company tow me out of the roadway charging me $220.00. My main complaint is that I was stalled and unmovable (due to a drivetrain issue), blocking the roadway (early AM darkness), with oncoming traffic swerving around me causing several near collisions. For whatever reason the driver decided he did not want to provide assistance and abandoned me blocking the roadway with no contact whatsoever. I attempted to call Advantage tow and received no response. Be aware that you might get abandoned if the driver providing assistance decides for whatever reason not to want handle your call! read more

I was extremely impressed with Alejandro's helpfulness in towing my car. I was in the middle of a busy street when my car died. This was after I had it jump-started and moved from a safer location thinking (foolishly in hindsight) I could make it to the auto shop. I had already called the towing company so luckily Alejandro was on his way. When I told him that l was now in a more dangerous spot he reassured me that he could still tow it and to remain i the vehicle. When he arrived he loaded it up quickly and towed it to the auto shop. His maneuvering skills and efficiency are second to none. Alejandro did a great job and deserves to be recognized for his work and attitude. read more
