I needed to have my vinyl liner patched. Ron responded to my call the same afternoon. He was at my house the following day and put on two patches to repair the liner. You can hardly see the patches. Pretty sure I have yet to talk to the owner Ron while he's sober. Installed new liner after flooding our house (which he blamed on us, apparently he thinks we pulled out the hose for some unknown reason and watched it flood our house) after the liner was installed it started pulling away, after finally getting a hold of him he came "fixed" it and said if it comes out again he will have the send a guy out to put a bead in. It came out again quickly and after a year of trying t get in touch he called my back. After I reminded him who I was cause apparently he forgot, said he never got any of my messages and then tells me "let's get honest with each other" starts talking about my wife pulling out the hose and flooding the house (not what happened) then starting with some bs about him telling me I had to put a bead on to stop the liner he installed pulling out...basically finishing his multi thousand dollar install. I don't know how the conversation ended since I had my fill of bs and hung up. Bottom line hire anyone other than this guy read more

We had Advantage Vinyl Pools replace our pool liner a couple of days ago. It took me months to find a reputable Vinyl Pool company that had the experience to do a replacement liner and would come to Livermore to do the work. They were referred to me by another pool company that only did gunite pools. The owner, Ron. was very knowledgeable and, even though they are in San Jose, he does work in the Tri-Valley area. He took time doing the measurements and gave us a reference to contact in Pleasanton. We met with the homeowner he referred us to and were impressed by their pool liner. We ended up ordering the same one. When they pulled off the old liner there was a lot of algae underneith that was caused from an undetected leak. They did a good job of prep work removing the algae and spraying the whole pool before putting in the new liner. It ended up being a much bigger job than any of us expected. LOVE my renewed pool, thanks to Advantage Pools. This is our 3rd liner in 25+ years. We have never been disappointed. Ron is extremely knowledgable with venial Pools & care. He has always been able to make recommendations based on our needs. Definitely they offer the best competitive pricing. They have a huge selection on patterns (ours looks like expensive lil tiles). There's always "the unforeseen" which they just can't always know everything until they get under the old lining. Our installation went pretty smooth but still took 1-2 extra days. That's usually just the way things go, so I am always flexible to accommodate their schedule. They do things "old school" in which a good old fashion phone call works best or email. We thought they did a good job, but it wasn't until we found crumbling concrete that was supposed to be repaired, and broken tracks that were supposed to be replaced, and unreturned calls, texts, and emails that we realized we were duped. We had to call in another company to repair what was supposed to be under their warranty. I would never recommend them, their work, and certainly not their warranty. And before they say they've never heard of me, it's because I had my son deal with the situation because I'd just had a massive attack and could not deal with the stress. read more

Very similar to Kimberly. At first the service was good and then I would call many times and no return calls. Had to hire another company to fix the issues, got frustrated. They did use good equipment and the pool looked good. Many problems with loosing water due to rocks that were sharp under the liner and a pools sweep that rubbed too hard on the liner making leaks. Should have used a different type of pool sweep and eliminated the rocks with sand or something else. read more

Cannot say enough on just how glad and thankful we are for having used Advantage Vinyl Pools for repairing and remodeling our old, non-functional pool! We tried ALL pool companies (and I mean ALL!!) in the Bay Area that deal with vinyl lined pools to help us with our pool issue, and all but Advantage said that the whole pool would need to be redone at prices that were as high as getting a new pool installed. Ron came up with creative ideas on fixing the issues and now, we have a beautiful, functional pool. I generally don't write reviews on Yelp unless I have a compelling reason to, one way or the other. Had my liner replaced 3 in the last 30 years. They did a great job every time. My pool is old but they have maintained it very well. They have been very good about repairing other problems and are very good about getting replacement parts and fixing leaks. read more

Back in 1998 I had Advantage pool replace my pool liner. We had an issue with the installer. He enjoyed hanging out with the neighborhood kids skateboarding, but didn't complete the last few items of the installation. I ended up calling another company that came out and completed the work. The small balance due Advantage Pool was paid to the company that completed the job. Last summer I had a small issue with my liner and since the other company was no longer around I called Advantage. I mean 14 years had gone by, certainly the installer had matured in that time. A repair came and took care of the problem, I paid the bill and all was good. This year, I need some minor repairs to get me through the season. I again called Advantage and was told it could be a couple of weeks as they were very busy. Fine, 2 weeks went by and I called to see when the repairman would be able to come out. I was told that since we had "issues" back in 1998, they would prefer not to repair my pool, even though I will need a new liner after this season. I asked if they planned on calling me to let me know of this decision and was told "I figured you would call back"! The issue Advantage pool had was that we didn't pay the small balance due them, but they never finished the job! The calls they claim making to "schedule an appointment" back in 1998 were really calls about getting money for the final work done by another company. I will never recommend them, i can't believe they are still in business if this is how they treat potential customers. read more
