Wifey and I visited our daughter about a month before she graduated and stopped in at Adventure Brewing for a beer (or two). I was really happy they offered flights here, but I was really disappointed in the bartender who sat around doing homework rather than engaging anyone about the beer. When she finally DID engage us we found her very charming and knowledgeable...it was just at the end of our visit when we wanted some items to go. My flight included: Backpack Wheat - very nice hefeweizen 5.6 abv Fred Red - didn't have the kick I wanted 5 abv Speak Easy Strong - wasn't 'bad', but didn't do it for me 8.5 abv Tiramisu Stout - amazing coffee and chocolate aromas and flavor. It was delicious 9.5 abv Stonewall Stout - it was delicious, but not as 'thick' as I would have expected for a stout. 5.5abv Wifey had: Fred red Rod and reel nice summery Pilsner 4.5abv Mimosa seltzer- I would drink these all summer 5abv Adventure Shandy - another all summer beer. Little hidden in an office park, but still easy to find. Warm welcome and friendly barkeep. I enjoyed a wide variety of styles of their beers with the flight. It's nice that the flights are variable sizes so you can just get that extra one if you are having to decide between your last two. Very much an outdoorsy theme. Maybe get that growler filled before that nature hike. The indoor was spacious and they have a lot of covered outdoor seating. I didn't have any issues and thought the safety procedures were good. Went here for my husbands birthday this past Saturday. First time - we drove a good distance - we were NOT disappointed. Brews - HUGE selection, great taste (and we had a group of 4 that drank stouts, IPAs, and sours). Really cool spot! The night I stopped in they had a food truck and a guitarist playing some cool toons. Both bartenders were super cool and fun to chat with. Only knock is that they did not have many IPAs; but that may have just been a timing thing. I did enjoy all of the beers though, even the ciders and I'm not a cider gal. 3.5 stars, but will round up because of the Winter Ale. With so many breweries popping up, it's hard to keep track of them all. I'm not complaining - this is a good problem to have - but suffice to say, my palate is experiencing beer sensations I've never had before, and it's been...interesting. Fortunately, Adventure is one of the better breweries I've found in my beer-drinking explorations. I thought their 'standard' flight was just OK, but thought 2 of the 3 on the 'seasonal' flight were outstanding. I especially liked the Winter Ale, which was really spicy. Went on a rainy Saturday afternoon. Wish the weather was nicer because I saw cornhole boards and umbrellas tucked away before going in. Bet they set them up on nice days. Anyway, we got a few tasters at $2.50/6oz. Comes in a really cute wood carved canoe. I liked that and it goes with the adventure theme. The stout was very light and not very creamy for a stout so I wasn't impressed. The smash session pale ale was okay. I did enjoy the bobsled winter - very Christmassy but not heavy. In general the beers were ok, nothing I'm crazy in love with. Pints were about $6 except for the higher alcohol beers ($8). So prices were okay. The atmosphere is pretty much a few tables and a nice bar in the middle of the brewery/warehouse. Not bad but a little industrial feeling. No kitchen but there was a food truck that you can order and bring food inside. Located right off the road in an industrial park. Wish location was a little nicer for a better outdoor atmosphere. It was something to do and fill some time but all in all I wasn't blown away. read more

This was my first visit to the Stafford Adventure Brewing site. Adventure has two sites; this is the North site. Other than a few snacks, no food is served. However, on weekends, food trucks are on the scene. There was a food truck parked outside during my visit with an interesting menu. The brewery is a sponsor of the Fredericksburg Roller Derby, and the derby ladies were tending bar. They were friendly and helpful and very willing to talk about their team. Location of the brewery was a little odd, it was in what seemed to be a large warehouse with not much to it besides a small bar that served snacks but they were a fairly new place when we visited so that could be why. The bartender was knowledgeable and great with small talk which made me feel comfortable. Unsure of which beer to taste, I tried them all. Two flights of beer all of which were tasty. It's so exciting to have a craft brewery nearby...and a good one at that. My husband and I went opening weekend and have been back several times. So far, these guys are doing a swell job. I like that they keep you up to date on Facebook and Twitter so that you know what's brewing (literally). I believe I've tried everything they've made so far, and there's nothing unpalatable coming out of their taps. I enjoy the Expedition IPA quite a bit. It's not exactly your typical IPA, but I found it to be just the ticket for a night hanging with friends. The stout didn't exactly wow me, but it was definitely drinkable. I will say that I would love to see them experiment a little more and go a little bolder with flavors. Like I said, everything they're putting out is good, but it seems like they've been playing it safe. I'm hoping that once they become more established, they'll turn out some slightly more unique brews. Pricewise, you're paying equal to slightly less-than what you'd pay for a pint at other local non-brewery establishments. I don't mind paying that price, since I like the company and their aims. Their prices on growlers are pretty sweet as well. If you've got company coming to town or are heading somewhere with beer-drinking buddies, I'd definitely recommend picking one up. The atmosphere is nice, casual, and thoroughly enjoyable. Service is friendly and speedy, and it's definitely a "come as you are" kind of place. It would probably be a great place to come hang on a rainy Saturday afternoon since they've got board games and such ready to go. Since it's been nice out, they've offered outdoor seating and corn hole sets for those who are obliged. I'm sort of thrilled it's on my way home from work, because if I-95 is horrible on a Friday evening, I know exactly where I'm going to go hang out for a bit while traffic clears! I really like the beer here and they are friendly enough, food trucks are generally good and its a relaxing environment. After 20 or so visits, they still never seem to recognize me. I've been to much bigger places that at least welcomed you like an old friend. That's the only thing they could be a bit better at. While my girlfriend and I were traveling home from Lake Anna, we wanted to stop at another local brewery on the way home. We decided on Adventure Brewing, and we very much enjoyed ourselves. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by a friendly staff member and were given some great info on the beer. The brewery is very spacious with a long bar and a good number of tables. There were also board games in the corner in case you need some fun with your beers. We decided on a fight to share of 5. The flights were not expensive, and gives you a great chance to try some beer before investing in a glass. The beers were delicious, especially the Gingerbread Stout.
