I recently went on a half day whitewater rafting trip with my husband. Donny was an awesome guide and whitewater rafting on the Ocoee was definitely one of the highlights of our Tennessee getaway. I don't think either of us stopped smiling the whole time! Adventures Unlimited provided safety equipment and training as well as a hot shower and changing area when we returned to base. We got our equipment and boarded a bus for the ~20 minute drive to the starting location, and then we're picked up by the bus further downriver. We really enjoyed our time at Adventures Unlimited! We came from Atlanta and we're supposed to be on the 1:30 trip. It was 7 of us and only 2 called and reserved early. When we called this morning, they didn't have available appointments but Brylie was very accommodating and told us we could all do the 4:30. Over the phone, she was extremely patient. She took 5 payments and honored our Groupons. I was really impressed by how she handled everything. We arrive right at 1:30 and a gentleman said if we wanted to, we could do the 1:30(I assume some people didn't show up) but we didn't have everyone there in our party so we just decided to wait. Kyle was our tour guide and he was PHENOMENAL! He had a great sense of humor and handled our group of 7 dramatic girlies with such professionalism. We were sad to leave once it was over. We did the full day on the river and got to experience the upper and middle sections. Alycia was our guide for the day and she was PHENOMENAL. I've been rafting quite a few times, and have used two different outfitters in the Cleveland area. By far, Adventures Unlimited is my favorite! Myself and some co-workers went yesterday and had the best time ever! Our fearless Gladiator/Viking guide named Leon safely guided us on our adventure and made sure we had a great time. He has the coolest helmet, and I felt like he was leading us to war against the other meager rafters from the opposing companies, lol. Needless to say, we were victorious. Leon is a very experienced guide and quite knowledgeable about the different plant life and history tidbits about the river. We were served a boxed lunch due to COVID safety precautions, but it was delicious and right on time. It had everything you wanted: hoagie sandwich with Boar's Head turkey, chips, potato salad, fruit, homemade cookies, water and all the fixings for the hoagie. My boyfriend and I decided last minute that we're gonna give what water rafting a shot while we were visiting Chattanooga from Nashville and Adventures Unlimited was recommenced. First of all, our guide, Russ was ruggedly handsome and dreamy. It made me want to turn gay for him. Like a good man, he maneuvered around the river with great expertise. Nobody fell off the boat or died in the trip. Actually, everyone working at Adventures Unlimited seemed friendly, chill, and cool. We were about 30 minutes late, but they still waited for us and started late. Of course, we felt bad because we had to hold everyone up. I do not recommend coming late. The place offers a nice sized locker rooms for men and the women. I haven't been in the women's locker room, but the men's locker room had about 3 showers. They don't provide soap or shampoo. So make sure to bring some if you want to shower there. Also, the hot water can run out in the shower so make sure to shower fast. read more

Geez this was an awesome time! Friends and I came here this past Sunday to do the half day whitewater rafting trip, which lasts about 3.5 hours (you're in the water about 2 of those hours), and you're hitting Class III and IV rapids along the Ocoee River. From The Atlanta Area it's a couple of hours drive up to Ocoee, TN, and well worth the drive. Before I continue, I have to say that you MUST request Josh Lemon. As a tour guide, he's been on the water in some capacity for 17 years and it showed, as he had us spinning in eddies, surfing on rapids and rebounding off large boulders, all while giving us the option of going easy, or having some fun (that means you're getting wet). As he mentioned before the start, if you listen to him, you wont get out of the raft, not unless you want to. Believe the man! Here's a tip, regarding getting wet....if you want to stay dry, yea, good luck.....but if you want to get soaked, sit in the front. Only sit up front if you want to, and are able to keep the pace with the rowing, because trust me, you will put some work in Here's another tip...go on Sundays and try to get the last half day trip. Why? Sundays are one of the least busy days, and by 4:30PM, we essentially had the entire river to ourselves (they explained that on busy days, you can have as many as 12 rafts in the same area and after every rapid, they stop to make sure everyone catches up...this does NOT happen when you're one of a couple of rapids) We used a groupon that was $25/person, plus a $4 river tax, fantastic deal. Not part of the deal (that we received) was a cd full of pictures (equaling about 50 photos for $50...between the three of us who went, splitting the cost 3 ways and sharing the photos amongst ourselves was extremely affordable. You will get wet, you will sometimes feel those "Oh crap" moments, but chances are, you'll make it through to the end, soaked, but with a smile. Thoroughly loved this event and i'll most certainly be back. read more

AU = Whitewater Rafting at its Best!!! The best guide ever: REV DEAN THE DUNKING MACHINE OK now on to the review.... I mean really......we found this company after receiving an email from Half off depot. We purchased 2 vouchers and were ready to make this happen. Lets rewind a but, before purchasing the voucher, I called to make sure they still had availability for the day that we were planning to be in the area. I explained to the person on the phone that I had no yet purchased the voucher but was about to. He was beyond nice, explained to me how they worked, set my appointment anyway and told me I could just email him the voucher numbers. After reading the reviews on yelp I know that I wanted to give Dean a try as our guide. Ahhhhhh I'm so glad that I did. You have to be crazy NOT to ask for Rev Dean the Dunking Machine. He took us on the rafting trip of our lives. This was not our 1st time white water rating so we knew what to expect, at least what we got from the precious company. The fun with Dean was never ending. We didn't try the food or utilize much of the other things on site but one thing is for sure. This place knows rafting. read more

I had a great time rafting the ocoee river with adventures unlimited and cant wait to do it again. the river was great-its a class 3/4 river and the rapids were thrilling but i felt safe the whole time. you can definitely do this with no previous rafting experience. our guide was personable and very knowledgeable about the river. my only complaint and the reason why im giving it a four star instead of five star review is that since our raft had seven people instead of six, there was a designated 'princess seat' for someone who didnt row and when he considered who would get the princess seat, he considered only the women. i dont think he meant to be offensive in doing this and some women probably would consider it chivalrous so i think his intentions were good. however, i still think that the next time a group is in this situation, it would be best not to single out the women. now that ive aired my complaint, ill also say what our guide did well. our boat had two extra people in it for part of the trip because we had to rescue some people who fell from another boat. he handled this situation well and the trip was fun despite the crowding. overall, a wonderful experience! read more

Whitewater Rafting - 5 Stars Customer service - 4 Stars Camping - 3 Stars Since I had different ratings on the different areas of AU, I figured I would rate each one. Whitewater Rafting - 5 stars, the trip was AMAZING. Our guide, Will, was very knowledgeable of the river and made our trip entertaining and informative! 4 of the 6 in our boat were experiencing their first time whitewater rafting, but we worked well together. We got stuck w couple of times due to another company's raft, but Will was calm and did what he needed to do to get us unstuck. He was awesome and I would definitely take another trip with him!! Customer Service - 4 stars, AU seems like a very laid back place to work. Most of the staff did their job, although at times it seemed they just flew by the seat of their pants. That being said, whenever there was an issue, they immediately took care of it with no complaints or push back. They were polite and accommodating. Camping - 3 stars, my bf and I camped (tent) at the site for two nights (sat & sun). The price is low and It's your typical family campground. Sites are pretty big and each have a fire pit and table. There is not much privacy between sites, as only a couple of trees scattered between the individual sites. The fire pits were pretty full, so we had to clean it out before we started our own fire. Bathrooms are campground bathrooms, pretty typical. I've seen better, but I've also seen worse. The area can be loud, so if you like quiet (like we do) it's not the best place to camp. AU is off a highway, and while you're tucked back, you can still hear the traffic. They have a restaurant/bar called The Bus on-site that offers some entertainment. They have live music, which goes until midnight. You will be able to hear it from your site. They sell firewood, but you would probably be better off getting it from the grocery store less than a mile away. What we bought looked like construction scraps and we couldn't get it to light. We ended up going to the store anyway, but as mentioned above, they offered us a refund no problem. I would definitely use this company again for rafting, but I would find a different campground close by. read more

It was a blast I don't think there was a single moment we all weren't laughing having a good time. Took my son (1st time) and this was my second using AU. Last year's trip was great- good guide, very rough river. This year's river was much more tame- I wish I'd done the Full river trip. My son LOVED it.. He's 13. Our guide this year (David Cline) was even better than last years guide. He had experience(23 years) , and he loves what he does. It shows. He was giving everyone high fives (with paddles) and making the trip fun (as if it wasn't fun enough). I will say, I camped here for 3 days, but to be fair, I'm not going to review the camping. It rained NON STOP the entire time. Miserable. Next time I'll get a hotel if it rains again like that. But with that being said, I will only use AU for my trips on the Ocoee. This was our 2nd time camping and rafting here. This place has it all, cabins, bungalows, rafting, food and entertainment!!! Great for family gatherings or just to get everyone together for a fun filled day or weekend. We always arrive Friday night, we stay at the Bear Den which is great for 10 people. Then Saturday we have a full day, hiking, rafting, dinner and then finish the evening with some adult beverages and entertainment. (Some bands are better then others ) Julie Johnson is so awesome and friendly!!! If you need to make special arrangements with a group give her a call. The river guides are entertaining, they work with the group in the boat to make everyone's trip enjoyable and safe. The white water experience itself was great. No real complaints there. I felt our guide was a pretty down to earth guy. I was planning to give him a nice tip to show my appreciation until the bus ride back. Myself and my children were sitting right in front of our guide who was doing a play by play with his fellow guides when I heard him mention he couldn't get over to one side of the river. The other guy said he was wondering what was happening there. Our guide went in to say.." yeah my crew was f...ing weird." There went his tip. Seriously! This as his dad, another guide, was at the front talking about how they wouldn't be able to do what they do without us and how it was a service industry. Adventures Unlimited is a wonderful rafting company. Purchased vouchers through Half-Off Depot and used them with my 12 yr old son, my college roommate and her husband this past Saturday. Our guide Amanda was great. She navigated us into a few hydraulics, we did 360's though a few rapids and my son "rode the bull" or at least attempted to, through three rapids. The Ocoee is a fun river with exciting rapids as well as calm parts for jumping out and floating. Be sure to allow time for camping before or after your trip. AU has full RV hookups, plenty of tent camping spots, a bathhouse and the newly added Road Kill Cafe serving breakfast and lunch. The Bus Bar often has bands, for a small cover charge, on the weekends and $1 PBR. What more could you want out of your rafting company? We did he Middle Ocoee section this time; but the full river trip is recommended for even more time on the water, going through the exciting Olympic section, and a yummy lunch in between. read more

For the wife's birthday she wanted to go white water rafting for the 1st time. We found AU online and made a reservation. So with 3 of our friends the 5 of us headed out. It's was about a 2 and half hour drive coming from Smyrna, TN. We got paired up with our guide Leon. He made our friends and the wife feel better about this potentially dangerous adventure we were taking. We had a short bus ride to where we actually got into the water. Leon went over all the safety rules and commands with us. After getting in the water and hitting our 1st class 4 rapid, it's safe to say we are all hooked. Leon was great, we all felt safe the entire trip. We all had a great time and we will be coming back. We might even buy a season pass for next season. On a side note I was saddened to learn that the TVA is trying to shutdown all the the white water rafting companies in the area. This would be catastrophic for this entire town. I purchased vouchers off of Half Off Depot for my 16 year old son, husband, and myself. When I called to make the reservation, the person who answered was very friendly and courteous. The drive from the Atlanta area is about 2 hours and is a quite drive. Our guide Drake, was great. He was friendly and tried to make the trip enjoyable for everyone. This was the first time my son and husband had been and they both loved it. My son has already requested going again! On vacation from AZ visiting my brother and his family, not our first rafting trip but for sure the BEST one!!! What a blast we had!!!!! On a scale of 1-10 this was a 10+++++++!!!! I am pretty sure our guide Payth blows the rest of the guides out of the water!! He was funny and so personable, my daughter could not say enough about how much fun she had with him.
