I'm not a "yelper" by any stretch of the imagination. I don't look things up on yelp on any regular basis and it takes an exceptionally special case for me to not only log into the site but also put "pen to paper", as it were. Working with Advice Personnel and Brian S., specifically, has become one such case. I've dealt with several recruiters/headhunters over the past 6 months (I use the word "dealt" very intentionally) and none have come close to providing the level of support, initiative, warmth, and clarity that Brian S. brought to every interaction, no matter how small. Brian was incredibly professional throughout my hiring journey while also imbuing the process with a sense of profound investment on his part. I felt like he had my back at all times and, like any great tactician, was able to keep the complexities and logistical stresses of the process veiled so that I could focus on giving the best interviews possible. Because of this, I landed a great new job at an incredible company. It feels silly to write this about a recruiter but I'll sincerely miss our phone calls. Even when the subject matter might have been mildly stress-inducing (what job search doesn't have it's moments?) I always had a smile on my face by the end. I didn't appreciate having my time wasted... I was contacted out the blue one day and since I am looking for a new job I figure I go all in with the call. As the call went on speaking to Eric I became excited & very hopeful... I was told there were a lot of opportunities for me in the area I wanted so I decided to go in and meet with Eric during my lunch hour. He was very nice and I thought the meet went well, but then I met 2 other people in the company which I wasn't expecting...It kind of threw me off...I felt ambushed honestly but I did my best to answer their questions. I had to basically run back to work because the extra time was taken by the unexpected interview by the two other recruiters. What got me a little worried was the fact that Eric knew people from my current job and I really wanted to have that privacy considering...but he told me I didn't have to worry... All and all I thought the screening process went ok...I gave them some time to see if any jobs would come up...I even took a week off ( being excited...) of work just in case something came up but nothing...I later reached out to Eric on Linkedin and heard nothing back from him since that day. To say the least I was mad and very disappointed... For people looking for new opportunities/fresh start its rough as it is but you don't need anyone coming along and adding to it... I believe in standing by your word and what you put out there...don't waste people's time like that..if you make a call to someone with promises of help then stand by that promise...this is why I really don't like dealing with agencies because of shady ways like this... read more

Coming out of a sales environment I was uncertain how my transition to recruiter would be. Both Kevin and Sal (Directors) gave me the training I needed to be confident on the phone, in person during meetings, as well as successful during my sourcing. I have yet to work for a company that the Partners (Aaron and Alan) are willing to help and guide you as well. This environment is one big family. I don't know why they have so many bad reviews but my experience with them has been pretty good. I applied for a position in May, a day later I was called in for an interview. I met with 2 different recruiters and by the end of the week I had a 2-week-long gig with a media giant. True, it was very temporary but it looks good on my resume. After that first gig, I was called in for a couple of interviews, pretty much all with well-known companies (out of all the ten agencies I've signed up with I've only seen this recruiting agency have so many big names under one hat). One interview turned out well and they would have offered me the job but I already had another, higher-paying job set up (which I had found on my own). This was the worst experience I have ever had with a recruiting firm. I was called in by a very nice and courteous assistant but the pleasantries ended there. I was unsatisfied with the unmotivated, messy work habits of my then current firm and the lack of advancement opportunities there. When I told the recruiter I met with this fact he was shocked and could not believe that this was true, since Advice Personnel had dealt with them ONCE before in the past. I assured him that it was in fact the truth. He refused to believe that this could be the REAL reason why I wanted to move to another firm. He then flat out accused me of having an inter-office romance that went awry OUT OF NOWHERE - this just had to be the REAL reason in his eyes. I vehemently denied his inappropriate allegations and restated my reasons for wanting to leave. He said it was very hard to believe that my firm was as bad as I suggested and had "gone to shit" and also added that I came off as "weird". Needless to say that once our brief meeting was over, I never followed up with them. From the moment I walked in and met with the friendly welcome staff, I felt comfortable. In past experiences at recruiting firms I have been nervous, however the warm reception made me feel otherwise. After a short wait, I made my way to the back for my interview. It was easy to see my interviewer had ample experience because of the questions he asked. He was also very courteous and gave me plenty of time to answer his questions. I was recruited from my previous position as an auditor in public accounting to a new position in private accounting. The staff was incredibly friendly and seemed genuinely concerned about getting me a better, higher pay position. They called me in for a position after finding my resume online. The one woman I met with told me I seemed great for the job based on my experience. She got up after the interview and told me that another woman who deals with the employers directly would be coming in to talk to me. She returned a couple of minutes later and said the woman was too busy to meet with me because she had a meeting, but that they would send my resume in. I emailed the next day asking if they would indeed send my resume and when I should expect to hear anything back. The next day she got back saying the employer was impressed with my experience but didn't want to meet me for an interview at this time. A company with an open position wouldn't want to meet with someone whose experience they're impressed by? I emailed them back asking if a reason was given for this, and of course received no response. I wish employment agencies like this wouldn't mess around. I had been using recruiters for several months and was losing faith until I met Aaron and Jules at Advice NY. I hadn't had much success with recruiters before, but everything about Advice made the experience feel more personal and special. From our first meeting, the agents at advice made me feel like I was getting special attention, but they were also very realistic in their plan for me, which I very much appreciated.
