I came here and I am extremely impressed with every one professional work. This place is kept clean And I had them do a complete set of X-rays on me. They also got me In right away as I had eaten something and had a tooth sheared off on me and my regular dentist had retired about eight years prior so I didn't have a dentist, but now I do. In my opinion, this was a total rip-off. I called to make sure they take Delta Dental insurance and they said yes they do, but it's technically considered out-of-network, so I would have to pay out-of-pocket first and then get it reimbursed via check. Hm, fine, I only wanted my yearly basic exam and cleaning (and I made that clear to them), which should be largely covered by insurance (except for any co-pay) so I made the appointment. Still, I wanted to know exactly how much I would be paying out-of-pocket and how much I would get reimbursed. One of their intake forms even stated that they would go through all that when I arrived at the dentist office, so that I would get an estimate of what I would actually be paying myself. However, when I asked at the front desk, they were unable to give me any such estimate (which should have been my first clue). They proceeded with taking multiple X-rays (even though I had already had X-rays done at my previous dentist last year, and it's apparently only covered every 5th year), exams, and cleaning, without informing what was going to be covered or not, and what the cost would be. Turns out they added multiple services that are not covered AT ALL by insurance, racking up a bill of more than $600 (of which I found out later, by checking my Delta Dental claims, insurance will only cover ~$100). This was exactly the kind of "car mechanic" experience I was hoping to avoid -- not being upfront about services and transparent about costs. I would even claim that this is fraudulent business behavior, since dentists are required by law to provide good-faith estimates of costs before service. I went in for a basic a exam and cleaning, as covered by insurance, and it ended up costing me over $500 ... alas, never going back here again.

The doctor talked with me at length about an issue I was having with an old filling, so I understood my options and his recommendations. They were able to schedule me to come in and have the filling repaired two days later. Pricing was VERY reasonable, even better than the old dentist that I loved. I have been a patient for…read moreabout 30 years started with Dr. Kates and since Dr. Michael Balikyan has taken over his office manager Naomi which also handles the billing has been overcharging my family and I & has also foraged my son-in-law signature to squeeze more money out of his pocket from original treatment plan Naomi presented him a foraged signature that she tried copy his very unique signature. Most recent visit for myself in July 2026 with dental dual coverage I was billed 100% of CT scan of $220.00 without billing either of my insurance with a $75.00 deductible - $50.00 primary and $25.00 secondary however deductible applies once secondary is billed and dental plan will apply deductible depending on the allowed amount of coverage. Example if allowed amount is $15.00 than deductible is $15.00 until deductible is met for the year. Naomi and I have had our differences with overcharging but enough is enough!!! Naomi also highlighted for front-end office staff to bill me for $857.00 for a Zirconia Crown with both insurance payments of $385.50 each total = $771 when I called first was told crown charge is over $1500 then was told crown charge is $1450.00 minus $771.00 insurance payments my balance forward should be $679.00 overcharging me $178.00 I want to point out that Dr. B is a great dentist, and I have not experienced any dental work issues with him and his back-office staff hygienist reason for me continuing to drive from West Covina to Pasadena. Please always ask for a copy of treatment plan, itemized statement and check your benefit plan coverage and/or call your insurance. In my case procedure code D0364 is a covered benefit at 50% with primary and secondary insurance coverage. Then the dentist came in and told me my prior dentist is no longer there. First, I heard of it. I advocated for a less aggressive approach. No one was listening except my new friend Zach! I switch the hygienist right away cause it was just another job for her and to be perfectly honest she didn't even exam my teeth herself. Be careful who you choose.
