Been driving by this place for over a year after having a great Greek cafe I loved in Charlotte, NC (Mad Greek Cafe). Glad I stopped here. Service was great from beginning to end. Food came out fast and hot. No liquor license so no ouzo which I love. It's not really traditional Greek that I truly enjoyed while in Germany but close. Hard to get traditional ingredients when you're 6000 miles from Athens. Glad I stopped and tried it. Will certainly stop by again. read more

I had the gyro platter and greek salad was the best I have every had. The wife had the gyro and was huge and she said it was the best she has ever had. My father-in-law has the grouper sandwich, and it was just prefect. Service was spot on and the rest of the menu was great, we'll be back to try more of the menu that is for sure. read more

My friend and I ate there this evening. We both had the Gyros sandwich which came with some of the best french fries I've had in a long time. The menu stated lamb or beef $10.69 so my friend asked if she could get it mixed, I took the beef which was a big mistake because they were big tough pieces, more like stew beef. When the bill came they charged 2 dollars extra for the beef gyros and 6 for the mixed even though it does not say anything about an up charge for either one. I feel like they cheated us, there was nobody available to discuss it with us. read more

Love this place. It's near the house and we frequent it often, both to dine in and to carry out. Huge portions that I can never finish and end up a second meal! My only possible recommendation is that when you order the take out, request extra sauce, especially for spaghetti. I don't seem to get as much sauce on a takeout as I do for dine in. We tried to go to Aegean restaurant yesterday. Read the menu online and found appealing. As we proceed to go inside, we noticed none of the employees are wearing mask. There's a sign saying they are required not to wear one. With the pandemic current situation, not wearing mask is just too much risk. Sorry if you don't respect others one person, you could be symptomatic and unintentionally can spread the virus. I would not support your restaurant. Be safe think twice before going to indoor restaurant whose employees are not wearing mask. read more

We had chicken gyro and mahi mahi sandwich in the restaurant. They certainly give a lot of meat however the chicken was dry and there was very little of the sauce that goes on gyros. The sandwich is pretty good. Mahi mahi is well cooked, but a little too salty. We had a take-out order, roasted lamb. It is really good even after reheated. The lamb is extremely tender. We have been at Aegean a few times and it has been hit or miss. Unfortunately tonight it was a miss. We usually start with the Dolmades and that is always a good dish. The only thing that I would change is the sauce that they put on top. Maybe next time, I just ask for it on the side. Otherwise it is a really good appetizer. The other dishes that we had tonight was the Gyro platter, the Greek chicken, Mahi Mahi and the roasted lamb (special of the day). My dish was the roasted lamb and it was a tad overlooked. Unfortunately with lamb if it is overcooked, it is really tough. Also the service tonight happened to be a little lackluster. It seemed that our waiter was a rushing around and not really paying attention. I am not someone who is needy but stop and pay attention to the table. Don't just run by as you say "everything good?" Always a great meal! Lemon soup, grape leaves, berry bliss salad, gyro platter....all very very good.

The very first time I came to this place a year ago, the food was great. The tzatziki was delicious. The salad was fresh. We ate inside for lunch and the service was fine as well. No problems. I've been back a total of 6 times since then, except I order to-go and the food has been horrible each time. Even the tzatziki tastes completely different. It's just bad. I always order the same thing and the meat is always bone dry and overcooked. I keep giving this place a chance because of the first time I was there, but the quality of the food has really taken a nose dive. Must be different cooks back there. I've given up on this place. Such a shame because there isn't a whole lot of Greek options in the area that is good. read more

I am seriously shocked about the bad reviews. This little restaurant has been taking care of us for years. A+ service for myself and family always. If you have a special event coming, be sure to go and see Katrina, the owner of the Aegean restaurant in Shalimar. She put an awful lot of hard work into our 40TH Wedding Anniversary dinner and no stone was left unturned. With planning, this dear lady went all out and even obtained lobster from Maine for our special day. When we walked into the restaurant, the most beautiful table was set with a fine, white linen tablecloth, candles, a beautiful flower arrangement and the best dinner of surf and turf; Not to mention the finest Greek sides to go along with it. We even left with a beautiful vase of red tulips to finish the night off. It's a night we shall always remember. Nothing is too much trouble for this precious lady and staff, right down to her daily menu of beautiful and authentic, Greek cuisine. We are so blessed to have this quaint, little restaurant and right in our community. Love their dolmades and soups! Kids spaghetti was enough to have two days of left overs! Daughter loved it.

It's hard to ruin a gyro and falafel lunch, but this restaurant did. As a whole the experience left a bad taste in my mouth which will prevent me from returning. Went there for lunch with the wife. I'm guessing our waiter was related to someone within the restaurant because it was very obvious he didn't want to be there. He seemed inexperienced as well as apathetic. Nothing like feeling unwelcome by staff. My wife ordered the gyro, I ordered a falafel wrap. When they arrived, there was less than 1 teaspoon of tzatziki between both sandwiches. My wife asked for some more tzatziki for her gyro. Our waiter brought us two little serving containers and said, "I brought one for you too." We were pleasantly surprised that the waiter recognized the tzatziki error and took the initiative to correct. Her gyro was much better once it had the tzatziki (believe it was sour cream based versus yogurt). My falafel was way too dry... no amount of tzatziki could save it. When we checked out I noticed there was two charges of $1.59 for the tzatziki... Spoke to waiter and he said he had to charge for the extra sauce... told him only my wife asked for the sauce, you providing two was just the right thing to do (wasn't expecting to be charged for either, but can't complain about wife's request)... he just kept his head down and said he had to charge me for both... saying, "It's already in the computer". I was in a hurry so didn't ask to speak with manager, but tried to work with waiter one more time... no luck... told him this would reflect on my ever returning... he didn't say a word... There are several options for Greek food in this area... All of my future business will be elsewhere. read more

Met friends here for dinner while in town visiting. The girl that waited on us was really great. Helped us with the pronunciation of the menu items and have us a few fun Greece facts. Food came out to us quickly. Large portions!! I had the agean salad and Pastiche. My friends had the Spanakopita and the gyro. Very yummy! We also got some Baklava. Again big portion and delicious. This is a good Greek restaurant. One of the best gyro platters i have had. Went with a party of 6 and everyone had a great meal. Huge servings of great food. What more could you want. I had the gyro sandwich with a side salad. This sandwich is huge, and they didn't up charge for a salad instead of fries. Serving sizes are huge and the prices are fare. Food was hot and fresh. I absolutely love Aegean. The food is always consistent, delicious, and judge portions! I always take home extra. I have had so much off the menu, and each item is extremely tasteful with the perfect amount of spice. The service is incredible. The staff are always going above and beyond. They really want to ensure not only is the food good but the experience one to remember. The restaurant is always clean, and well kempt. We often times run to Aegean for a delicious dessert. Met a friend here for lunch and I'm glad I gave it another shot. They have improved. Maybe because I didn't order the chicken but it was good enough to put back on my rotation of places to eat. Hope they keep it up. The first time we ate here was a couple of years ago and we were impressed. Ever since that first time it has gradually gone down hill and that's a shame. The portions used to be huge but the food was also good. Now the portions are normal sized (which is good) but the quality went way down. The chicken on the gyro is always dry and rubbery. You can tell it isn't made to order. They don't cut the middle green hard part out of the tomatoes, french fries suck, they skimp on the tzatziki and the service is spotty. They always seem like they are running around like chickens with their heads cut off when it isn't even busy. The last good thing I had there was the fried calamari. Maybe if they cut down their enormous menu and just did a few things really well instead of everything just mediocre it would be better. I do wish these guys luck, I know they have the capability to make good food because they have in the past. read more

Went there today and not very crowded, was seated and took 15 min for the waitress to come to our table, got our drinks 10 mins later, ordered an app of calamaris, which came 15 minutes later! Overcooked and the worst calamaris I have ever eaten, food came about 20 mins later! I had the Greek salad with steak! Wife had the gyro meat plater. Both we good. But I tried to order a side a pita beard and I had to flag down the other waitress, this waitress told our to come over to our table which she did. Placed this order and waited at least 15 mins for a young kid came out and asked if we ordered this pita beard. At no time did out waitress come by ask and how the food was or see if I needed a beverage refill, which I did! She surely stopped by the drop our bill off! Had to go to the front checkin table to pay for our food! Told the young kid who took our payment that the calami sucked! I'm tried of hearing oh we're short staffed! I don't care hire more people cause your prices have certainly increased! We arrived about an hour before closing, quite a few tables taken. We were seated quickly. The waitress was very polite and I noticed she talked to all of her tables in a nice manner, not being rushed/short with anyone. Our order came pretty quick, maybe 10 minutes or so. I ordered the Gyro platter, with traditional meat. It tasted great with and without the tatziki sauce. Was much better than any gyro I had tried before. It came with a Greek salad and fries. Girlfriend ordered a fried grouper sandwich, which she said "was delightful", even though she wiped off the tartar sauce. Overall everything was good. We will return eventually. read more

Meh at best, about as authentic as taco bell. Not a real greek resturant. Gyro pita was uncooked and soggy, gyro meat was so-so but at least it wasn't the frozen stuff. Cucumber sauce was super runny, really nasty. No kebabs.. No lamb on the menu at all!?!? I should have known it would be third rate when I saw a Philly Steak and Cheese on the menu, lol. The hummus was served with an ice cream scoop and was more bland than rice pudding. Pita when served with humus should be crispy on the outside folks - all we got was cold uncooked pieces of pita. Same goes for Gyros - you are supposed to cook them a bit on each side. Fries aren't hand cut like a lot of the good Greek places either. Food: barely tolerable Atmosphere: not authentic and rather dated Price: good, if the food was worth a crap Advice: Go the other way. My friends and I just experienced the most unreasonable and uncomfortable confrontation from then manager at the Aelgean I have ever encountered. We have been going there for years. I've known the owners as have many of my local friends, and have brought many large parties to eat here. I received cold food frozen from fridge . Cordially , because I know these things can happen (and again as a loyal customer) I asked for another meal and I was told I'd still have to pay for first one. I did receive a second meal but when we got the bill both meals had been charged . When I told manager if I had to pay for frozen meal , I would need to receive it and take it with me, and we wouldn't be returning. She said "we don't want you to anyway". It only went down hill from there. I told them I would be happy to discuss with the owner, and she said Good luck. They were having this conversation across the restaurant with me where everyone could hear it. It's unfortunate We were Very loyal customers. To top it all off , we were taking friends for the first time - since we always rave about it to see the place. And now they too won't be returning.
