I had read that core (not spike) lawn aerating was a good thing to do, especially in clay soil, but I didn't want to be sold stuff I didn't need or talked into a monthly lawn care contract. When I called Dreamscapes, I talked to Michael, who told me all about aerating and didn't try to talk me into a contract. He was great to talk to and I learned a ton about lawn care in that five minute call. Within two hours they were at my house aerating and fertalizing my lawn. It was just over a hundred dollars for a pretty big front lawn and a medium-sized back lawn. That seemed like a great deal to me because I was getting ready to rent an aerator from Home Depot in Sac (25 miles away) and it would have been about $85 for one day, plus a huge hassle getting in and out of my truck twice. I was thinking of going around to my neighbors and asking them to help in exchange for me aerating their lawns, but in the end, hiring these guys was so easy and cheap. They core (plug) aerated the lawns completely and spread fertilizer, and gave us a bunch of tips on watering and fixing our clay soil over time. It's been two weeks now and it's funny, there's a definite "line" between the green lawn on our side, and the neighbor's lawn that isn't nearly as green. I'm going to do this every six months or so, and these guys are the ones I'll be calling. read more

He also applied 3 bags of AquaSmart LawnSaver for us which we had purchased. His price is very affordable and we negotiated this over the phone prior to his arrival. Had Michael of Dreamscapes come out to and aerate our front and back lawn after seeing good reviews here on Yelp. I didn't reach anyone the first time I called, but my message was promptly returned and we scheduled a time. He quoted me a competitive price and took plenty of time to walk the yard, point out some things I can do to improve the lawn/soil condition, and carefully flagged off all the sprinklers nearby. He did a thorough job with the aerator. I top dressed all ~6k sq feet of lawn with a few yards of organic compost from Cascade, and overseeded with a dwarf fescue as recommended. It's been about a month now and the lawn is growing in very thick. The patches I pulled Bermuda and Dallisgrass from are already being filled in by the new seed. Soil seems a lot healthier than it did when we moved in late last summer. With the dense clay on our property, there is little doubt the roots of the lawn were hurting for some air. I'll be calling Michael again in the Fall to come out and do it again. Great service, shows up on time, and makes sure the job is done right. Can't ask for much more. read more

They never showed up on the day of the appointment. I left several messages. The following day I got a call from the owner. He took full responsibility for forgetting my appointment. He made an appointment with me for the following day, and when they came out, they did a very good job. But that is why they get four stars, not five. I recently had a baby and as a result my husband and I had not been able to do much more with our yard than basic maintenance. I called Dreamscapes and they came out within a few days to aerate, fertilize, and weed kill our yard. I am very disappointed with my experience with Michael, given the numerous positive reviews about him I saw on Yelp. I called to inquire about his lawn aeration services. As many other reviewers have stated, I had to leave a message. But Michael quickly returned my call, provided a price quote, and scheduled an appointment for that evening or the next. While he arrived a little late for the appointment, that was not a big deal. I discussed with him his taking over as my gardener, and Michael provided a quote. I have since tried calling him three times to hire him, but have not received even the courtesy of a response. Prior to trying to call Michael to ask him to take over as my gardener, I referred him to a friend. My friend received a price quote from Michael, but found someone who was one-half the price. I am glad my friend did not go with Michael. I am keeping his card only so I can remember who NOT to use the next time my lawn needs to be aerated. read more
