The staff is wonderful but -BEWARE. The business model includes dramatic and fear inducing techniques that makes the patient believe they are in dire and immediate danger. You will be given a dramatic and animated delivery by the dentist and then brought to a room where almost $2,000.00 later, your issue will have been miraculously controlled until your next visit in a month. I was at my regular dentist 6 weeks prior and given a great report ( I went to this office for potential veneers consult only ) . For the first time in my life,37 years the worst dental experience. The forced and corner to pay up front for dental procedures. After asking if they take my insurance ( of course they do.) What they dont say is they are out of nework and don't work with the insurance companies, as they are all about the money and not about patient care. They made a quick buck of me. Fine, but they lost out on the long term investment. I know I needed the work, I know there is more, and I know over time it will be costly. But to still be place in a position to have costly dental work, and being placed in the corner to pay upfront so the dentist can make a profit is unexcused. I hope others who look at this doctors take a long look and choose a better dental practice. It was the first time and the last time I will go to this dentist. read more

Dr. Roderick and staff are excellent. This is the first review I've written for a dentist. Dr Roderick is efficient, effective. He answers questions and communicates with as much detail as you may want and does what he says he'll do. The work has been excellent. The staff is so professional and detail oriented. They handle the administrative stuff thoroughly. The whole staff makes you feel comfortable and part of the family. For those, like us, that moved here and needed to go on the hunt for a new dentist (and not wanting to do it multiple times), Dr. Roderick is it. We got lucky and found his practice. One of the best dentists in the area. I called him at the spur of the moment because one of my crowns fell off (and it wasn't one that he even did), but he had me come in, re-cemented it and made an appointment to get it taken care of the proper way and followed it up with regular visits and cleaning as well as for my daughter. Things were going great till he told me his practice would no longer take Delta Dental insurance. He'd still bill them, but I'd have to make up the difference. read more

I've been coming to Dr. Roderick for 12 years now. Michelle is the hygienist I always see for my cleanings. I come every year twice a year. I've had a couple of fillings. But I am always very happy with the work they have done. I've had my teeth whitened here as well. They've got an awesome waiting area for kids. They act very VERY nice to you, and they promise you that they're going to help you out... UNFORTUNATELY it also cost you over $1000 if you want anything REALLY done. GRANTED the doctor is very well informed and will tell you about problems in your mouth making you feel he is on your side, but if you go down the street a bit you can find somebody who will actually HELP YOU get a cleaning for under $300. This place is more dramatically honest with you and tells you your teeth are in drastic danger all the time. If you're rich. Have fun. He won't make it cheap... And will make it sound dire. Have to agree with prior post regarding seemingly excessive costs. They are nice and knowledgeable but felt they were also rather pushy to sell their treatment plan at a very high out of pocket cost. Also continued to push the doomsday scenario if I didn't accept and move forward, seemed to really want me to sign and not seek other opinions. Which I did. End of the day, went to Mexico and paid a bit more than 1/10 of what they'd asked for. I'm sure it will be pointed out how inferior foreign treatments are, as that's what they told me trying to get me to agree to their terms, however I adamantly disagree. Considering their plan was mostly a cost to them of at most a couple hours labor and very limited material costs, I assume the thousands they asked for were mostly going to cover costs of their equipment. Nice enough people but kinda felt like I was at a car dealership for teeth. read more

I've never liked going to the dentist, for many reasons, so my goal is to find one who understands my anxieties and works with them instead of ignoring them. Since being in Arizona for the last 10 years, I've gone to many different dentists to find the "forever dentist". After just looking on my Apple Maps one day in search of a dentist in my area, this place came up and I decided to give them a try. Earlier this year I made my first appointment, which was strictly x-rays and an exam. Every single team member was outstandingly kind and down to earth, including Dr. Roderick. A few months passed and I needed to get a couple cavities filled. Let me tell you now that I usually pass out when getting any kinds of shots, on my arm or in my mouth, so I was extremely nervous as always for this appointment. I told Dr. Roderick prior that I was anxious about the numbing shot, so he told me to relax, close my eyes and breathe. I have never in my life had a dentist who was able to make that shot not hurt at all. Like literally, at all. I didn't even pass out too which was great. The fillings were super quick and I was able to watch forensic files on the TV that was mounted on the ceiling above me. I'm really just blown away with how amazing this family practice is, so I had to share. read more

I had an appointment a few months ago. Dr. Roderick asked me a few questions that I thought was odd, such as am I currently working, is my husband working, etc. They took an xray but didn't do a cleaning or anything else. They have posters on all of their walls and ceiling talking about gum disease and how dangerous it is and certain percentage of people have it and die from it etc. He took the instrument that measures how far your gum is from the tooth and told me 3 times how anything over 3 is a strong concern. He was very vocal about how many there were as he did his inspection and told me I had gum disease. He also told me I needed 2 crowns and I asked if I would automatically have to get a root canal and he had a condescending laugh and said yes. Next, he had me talk to the office manager in a separate room who told me they could do the gum disease treatment that day for $2118 and I would have to come back and get a cleaning and they would then also assess charges for the crowns and root canal. I left with such an uneasy feeling about them. I had a second opinion and all I needed was a deep cleaning and needed only 1 crown with NO root canal. The other tooth he said needed a crown wasn't necessary at all. I got all of my work done at a fraction of the cost and felt so comfortable that I was with an honest practice that wanted to treat me for only what I needed. Dr. Saxton has begun the tooth implant process on me. He and his staff are extremely friendly! Before beginning any work in my mouth, he is always very thorough in his explanation of what he's doing. The process has honestly been pain free! The local anesthesia shots didn't hurt at all; and with the exception of some MILD tenderness, the post placement procedure was pain free as well. I was comfortable the whole way through and the dentist and his staff was very very nice. I have a maw forever dentist.

The cash price was 2-3 times that of any other dentist. I've never seen such an easy hourly schedule for a dentist. work 4 times a week and takes every holiday possible. I asked why the higher price and the the receptionist answered for the Dr. "he uses a special technique to prevent sensitivity after the procedure". I was sold on quality work. I then was told that I needed a $500 dollar night guard to prevent my front tooth chipping. Which is crap. He fixed the chip and I had to come in two seperate times for him to polish it correctly so that I wouldn't feel the cement. Most importantly, the last time I had to come in, it had to be completely re done since he claimed he could make the tooth fit in the retainer without having the retainer. Simple logic. I told him he couldn't do this several times but ego got in the way. So I put it on that night and woke up with cemen pieces all in the retainer. forcing him to bring me back in, which happened to be one of his many three day weeks. When I paid for this service in cash they didn't even have change. They told me I had to go to the bank for exact change... Unprofessional. On my final visit I told him that my tooth was super sensitive more than ever before and I thought I paid to prevent that. He said "try some sensitive toothpaste, I'll give you a sample". He never even gave me the sample.. I now have to dominate one side for eating because it is to sensitive. Dishonest and evasive, claims himself one of the best dentist's in the valley from what public poll? He's all marketing and talk, no skill. Sure does act like a nice guy though, prob the reason for such high reviews, strong purssuasive techniques but in the end dishonest and ignorant. read more

Only issues I had was in getting there at 9:20 and my appointment was at 9:30am and no one was at the front desk so I sat down and waited. At 9:30 no one was at the front desk. Finally about ten or 15 minutes later the dental hygienist came up to the lobby and got me. I found out that they have a meeting in the morning and so that was what was happening. I did not see a sign. Also the ipad was not working to check in. The previous gals name stayed on the ipad. Maybe if you would just verbally or by email tell the first persons in that there will be a meeting going on when they come over and to just sit and wait and someone would come and get them. It would have been nice to know that. I came in to take an earlier appt than what was scheduled. My original appt was at 11 and the receptionist called to see if I could come in earlier. She could have told me what was going on. The other gal and I wondered what was going on. It was kind of maddening to not know and just wait. I realize you need company meetings but I just think you need to let your clients know that. However, I suppose you may think that people will be late if you tell them the truth. Sad how the world has changed. I plan to always be on time. The dentist and staff are very nice and I do like the work they do. Plan to go back for another cleaning in a few months. I would recommend this dentist to anyone searching for a place to go. One more thing I want to mention. I have a bad back and their dental chairs are very comfortable for someone with a bad back. read more
