I have been coming to Kay since mid 2020 and had bad cystic acne on my jawline, forehead and cheeks and Kay recommended acne facial treatments combined with microneedling. Each time I go to Kay, she is extremely professional and thorough with extractions and using new gadgets per session. Without fail each time I go for an acne facial, my face is left glowing and within the next 2 - 3 days all the inflammation and cysts are dramatically reduced in size. At this point, after going for a series of 13 acne facials, my acne is mostly under control with the occasional hormonal breakout around that time of the month. For the hyperpigmentation left over, I was hesitant if Kay would be able to do much, since as a woman of color my pigmentation stays put and is a pain in the butt to get rid of. This being said, Kay's microneedling sessions, are gentle and effective enough to slough off the top layer of dead skin cells and reduce the pigmentation color of my acne scars by 1/2 each time! Now I am just dealing with a couple of deeper pigmentation marks and I can confidently say that my acne/pigmentation marks are significantly better since coming to Aesthetic Kay! My advice is to be patient and consistent with the treatments, and do not expect results overnight; but Aesthetic Kay certainly helps with time and I would recommend Kay to anyone looking to improve their acne & scarring/hyperpigmentation!! read more

I feel bad only giving 3 stars but I need to be honest about my experience. I came in for an initial consultation because I was interested in micro needling, but Kay recommended IPL instead. She said I should do three treatments with a collagen facial after each one. Since I live next door, she offered me a deal and the whole package came out to $1,440. Considering the investment, I had pretty high expectations. I wouldn't say those expectations were met, for a few reasons. 1. I'm not sure if I actually received IPL or just another laser treatment. Everything I've seen about IPL, the healing, and the after effect is very different than what I experienced. I feel like I got the same laser that people get for mole removal. The impact of this is that my skin doesn't look any better than when I went in. In fact, I have more prominent dark spots now in the areas I was zapped that scabbed over. 2. I started this process on April 1 and have now completed the entire series. Like I said, I haven't seen any improvement and Kay let me know it'll take 3 months to see a change. My spots would fade typically in 3 months anyway, so that feels frustrating. For $1,400, I could've just gone to my favorite facialist and bought myself excellent skincare. 3. I didn't really enjoy the collagen facials. I felt like it wasn't catered to my skin type and I didn't see any improvement like I do typically with facials. Additionally, I don't like that they shave the face. Finally, the extractions would often be done on spots that weren't ready for extraction, which led to inflammation and then became a dark spot. 4. During the collagen facials, they cover your eyes and face with a thick mask and then put Saran Wrap on top. At my second collagen facial, this really bothered me because it made me feel claustrophobic. I expressed this to the facialist and told her I wasn't comfortable. She wasn't listening to me so I told her to please take it off because it was making me anxious. She was obviously annoyed with me and washed my face and that was it. This was frustrating because the facial wasn't cheap and they should've done something different for me. I ended up paying full price for a facial when they just washed my face. I should've been reimbursed in that situation or offered another facial. The pros: -Kay is very sweet and kind. I really like her! -They were great with accommodating my schedule. -It's very clean and hygienic. I'm giving 3 stars with the hope that my skin will look better in a few months and make the cost worth it and because Kay is so nice. read more

Same routine... will clean face first, and I noticed that every session, Kay will pull out new epic gadget of hers lol which is pretty awesome. I cannot say enough praise about this place! I have suffered from acne for YEARS (7+?). I have gotten facials routinely for years because of it with little to no improvement. After coming here and following her treatment plan, my skin is GLOWING and CLEAR. Show customers the products they are gonna use on you face and will ask for your permission before just putting them on your lip and eyes 2. I hate giving low ratings but I did not feel satisfy with my time here. I thought it was strange because during the whole facial, I never got an explanation of what Kay's employee and Kay were doing e.g. explanations of products they are putting on and the steps they were doing. If you want someone who is thorough and go through each product/step, you won't find it here because it's close to silent and zero communication during the whole facial. Her employees do the majority of the facial and she does the main portion like micro needling or extractions. Even prior to entry, the website said they do temperature checks and abide to the city law but they don't. They don't do temperature checks and no vaccine card checks either. In San Francisco, the businesses now needs to check people vaccination card in order to even sit in at a business. I saw a guest in one of the treatment rooms with no mask while the door was opened and it looks like they were waiting for their appointment. I understand you can take off the mask before you start the treatment but I guess some people don't want to put it on beforehand. Overall from my few visits, they don't do any of the precautions that's required by law in San Francisco which shows me that they don't care. The process of the collagen facial from my memory is cleanse face, scrub/exfoliate with a electronic brush, toner, Kay comes in and extract, a machine she uses for IPL?, toner, lotion on body, collagen mask, and moisturizer. The products they use have a strong potent scent so it is not geared towards people with sensitive skin. You honestly can buy all the products yourself and it would be around the same price as doing a few sessions. Someone else on here made a good point where she would extract spots even though it wasn't ready so this left a bigger scar. And at the end of the collagen facial is when they just put some eye sheet mask, clay mask, two sheets of face mask, and Saran Wrap. Sometimes it feels suffocating and can get caustrophobic easily. I did a few sessions but I literally see zero improvements except more scars which is the opposite of what I want. The price is cheaper than most spas but you get what you pay for lol. Also, it's suspicious that in the past 3 months, there are 5 reviews that only say positive things and have 5 stars rating. I noticed that they reuse the brushes where they put on clients face. It is "clean" since they washed it, but who wants to have a brush on their face that they've used prior on so many other people?? They can't get disposable ones? I also saw the tool they used for their micro needling treatment. Most spa/dermatologist/esthetician places use a SkinPen or a type of pen since it is FDA approved and usually costs a lot more for the treatment. But here, they use a derma roller where you can buy it on Amazon for $10 instead. The derma roller is very unsanitary no matter how many times you "clean" it since I assume they used it on multiple clients and this can lead to more scarring, so it defeats the purpose of the micro needling. People use a derma roller at home, not a facial place. Maybe they use a machine or something, but I didn't see that. This place does not seem clean nor hygienic! I thought this place would change my skin like many people's reviews have said, but it hasn't done anything if not made it worse. It sucks because I don't want to leave a negative review and I wasted my money but I rather warn people who are thinking about coming here. There were two incidents at this place where it showed me it was a red flag as well. You can get a package deal for the treatments/facial or buy them one by one and they accept card, cash, and Venmo. Technically, businesses aren't suppose to use Venmo since it is a violation of their terms and services unless it's a business venmo account. Kay may be nice, but it's not going to bring back the money I've wasted and my skin prior to coming here. Just judging it on the service here and the facials, it isn't worth it unless you're willing to waste your money. Go to a professional instead despite it being more expensive.
