I initially visited Christina for an eyebrow session but ended up booking a Holistic Vibrabcy facial with her after speaking to her about my challenges with roseacea and redness. I've stayed away from facials for this reason based on past experiences but her advice and use of plant based products made me more open to it. The facial was so much more than I expected - a whole experience from forehead to arms and chest with a massage and gentle cleansing, masks, exfoliation, and extraction. Christina is amazing! My face was long overdue for a facial. I have acne prone skin, super oily on the t-zone and super dry everywhere else (eczema). She made the process very comfortable and relaxing. She analyzed my skin and customized the treatment based on my needs (light enzyme peel is what I had, I believe). I LOVE extractions because that's the only way to battle my pizza face. She was gentle with it but thorough; made sure it was handled with no scarring. My face was in severe need of some TLC so I headed over here for the amazing reviews and the convenient location! Christina is great at communicating and responds quickly to questions on Yelp. She is sweet and makes sure you feel comfortable with everything she is doing, and she walks you through each step. I mentioned that my skin was a bit sensitive from being dried out from the flight I had just gotten off, so she took that into account and did extractions, a soothing mask, and used everything gentle. One thing I noticed was that she was very gentle with her extractions, which may be a good thing for some, but I hadn't gotten a facial in a long time so there was a lot to clean out but afterwards I did see that she was a bit too gentle for my skin. read more

I've struggled with tzone oiliness, congestion, and occasional cystic acne since I was a teen but with Christina's help have gotten it under such control that my breakouts are now pretty rare. I never had an esthetician that I went to for more than two times because I am never 100% satisfied with them. But a facial was terribly due as it was looking dull, I tried out an esthetician name Christina Leung at Lucent Skincare that my friend recommended on Union Street. Right when I walked in the door, I was welcomed by Christina with a friendly smile. I was guided into a warm and comfortable room. She was attentive to the temperature of the room and ensured I was neither too cold nor hot. She recommended the Vitamin C Boosting Treatment, which was an antioxidant facial to help brighten my skin. When she noticed that I have some breakouts, she added an antibacterial light treatment to help calm the skin. I was very happy with how detail oriented she was with my face, I highly recommend her and will start getting them more on a regular basis. In previous experiences with other estheticians, they would merely perform the facial as a procedure. Also, I enjoyed Christina's aromatherapy massage of the hands, neck, and shoulders! The massage was extremely good and the room was so comfortable, I actually fell asleep. I also bought a few of the products that she used on me - balancing cleanser, mask, and lotion. I found Lucent Skincare on Yelp and booked a facial using the easy online booking system. Christina's location is across the street from my work, so it's very convenient! The room itself is a little jewel box of a place. Very cute decor, and painted in a soothing blue color. Christina is so warm and friendly-- I instantly felt relaxed around her. She asked me to fill out a new client form and then we got started! Christina's facial was relaxing, soothing, and informative. She gave me some skincare tips and let me relax without chatting as well. She suggested an enzyme application, as well as something called derma-file, which was like microdermabrasion without the suction. She even spent extra time with me than the 60 minute facial I booked! The only reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that it wasn't clear that the enzymes and derma file were extras, but she did charge more for those at the end, so my treatment was about $40 more than I expected. If you aren't sure, ask her if the things she suggests have an extra charge before she begins them. Otherwise, I had a great experience! Christina takes credit cards, too, which is a big convenience. I desperately needed a facial today, and a last minute facial on a Saturday is hard to come by, luckily I found Christina! After taking a look at my skin she recommended a vitamin C peel, she completely cleaned my face and the calming mask she used was WONDERFUL! My face was not red and looks fabulously healthy! I ended up leaving with a oil free SPF 30 moisturizer which I NEEDED and the glycolic and retinol pads (to help with the clogged pores) along with a couple of samples! I cannot remember exactly how I found Lucent Skincare but I am so happy that I did. Christina is an outstanding skincare professional. Just a quick walk from the Montgomery BART station, street cars, and buses you would be hard pressed to find a more convenient location. Besides being convenient the atmosphere at Lucent is one of total relaxation. The wall colors are a soothing blue, lightly scented candles and calm music are in full bloom as you enter. The experience at Lucent is easy and pleasant. Once fully vertical you are in for the true treat: Christina's amazing skincare regimen, thorough explanation/examination, and soothing touch. While Christina urges you to sleep and relax she is very helpful and speaks to you about her recommendations and analysis. She really does an excellent job of balancing the education with relaxation. By that I mean, she has an impressive ability to "read you" and know your needs. Unlike other spas I've patronized where a well meaning person talks to you at length about the procedures they're performing; she is skilled at relaxing you while helping you understand products and procedures. I've been going to Christina for about a year and I recommend her and Lucent to all of my friends and anyone that wants to walk out feeling refreshed. My skin looks amazing and it is one appointment that I religiously book. She makes product recommendations as you ask for them but I have never felt pressured to purchase anything. I had a Smart Bio Peel treatment at my 2nd visit with Christina.The facial was amazing! I noticed immediately my skin was brighter and smoother, the sun damage seemed to have lightened as well. Even my husband noticed the difference and complimented my skin when I got home! I'd never done anything like this before & Christina made it so easy & low-key.

i haven't had a facial since my last one with christina back in 2009 (i know, the blasphemy, right?), so after months and months of being busy and worn down by work, i finally treated myself to another facial at her new digs. the new lucent skincare is bright, airy, comfy and so cute. it's like walking into christina's boudoir or having a facial at home. i needed some brow and lip waxing done, so christina started with those first. she uses a hard wax, which is something i've never tried. she explained that she chose the wax as part of her service because of the calming ingredients it contained and the fact that it clings onto hair and not to skin, unlike other waxes. she took her time to get the right shape, and perhaps because i got a facial afterwards to soothe and cleanse, i didn't break out like i usually do with other waxings or threadings. extra brownie points! next, i got the signature facial which included a cleanse, an exfoliation, extractions (and boy did i need them), a soothing mask, a neck and arm massage, and finally some moisturizing... basically the works! christina actually put some sunscreen on me which i really liked. i am really bad about protecting my skin mostly because a majority of sunscreen products feel heavy and oily, but not the one she used. i think i'll have to go back and buy one from her! and this is a total nerd thing, but i really like the fact that you can book a treatment online using the genbook reservation system... it just makes fitting a treatment into my schedule so much easier! as i get older these little "me times" seem so much more important... i'm totally going to start making regular visits to lucent skincare part of my regimen! thanks so much, christina! read more

Christina welcomes you with a warm smile and a soothing voice. She also gives an excellent facial and massage! She was very thorough with extractions but gentle too. She goes out of her way to address your skin concerns, and she makes sure you're comfortable. My favorite was the neck/shoulder/arm massage--it's seriously the best I've ever had!
