If I could leave a zero-star review, I would. After being at this practice for a couple years, they got a new hygienist named Danny. Both he, Dr. Bernie, and Dr. Rennie Cheung, an outside oral surgeon they had referred me to, strongly urged me to undergo immediate surgery on a tooth that they said was extremely infected. Wanting to verify that, I went outside the practice to consult with another dentist. She informed me that my tooth was fine and did not need to be pulled. I recommend that you stay away from Dr. Bernie and Dr. Cheung, as they are just looking to charge patients for unnecessary procedures. read more

Incredible team doing incredible aesthetic dental work! I've been researching options for literal YEARS. Didn't want to file my natural teeth down at all nor did I want to pay the cost of veneers. However, I was starting to notice a lot of chips on the edges of my teeth that made them uneven. I had braces when I was younger and maintained my teeth well with my retainer until now. I'd done countless amount of research, looking for bonding that looked realistic, as it's so easy to end up with fake looking teeth, yikes! I had a noon appointment with the Doctor and Hygenist and was taken in almost immediately after arriving about 20 minutes early and after the requisite x-rays and photos was seen by Teresa. Teresa was very good at her job and was able to completely clean my teeth in short order. Lately my teeth have been breaking, chipping and cracking. I have gotten them fixed but recently, I broke one of my molars again went back to have it fixed and broke it the next day. I have great teeth, no cavities, good gums but my dentist couldn't explain why my teeth kept breaking. Instead, she told me she couldn't help me. I also have unexplainable headaches, jaw pain, and jaw locking which my doctor told me it had to be TMJ. Especially since my left ear rings and that is the side that gets locked every now and then. So I decided to drive 5 plus hours from Monterey to Calabasas to see Dr. Bernie since he was the closest dentist who understood TMJ issues and obviously highly recommend. It was the best decision ever! He did a CBCT scan that showed why I was breaking the left back molar on the inside and the right back molar on the outside (cross bite). Basically, my bite is off from years of clenching my jaw and that pushed my jaw to one side. No wonder I'm so uncomfortable! Since seeing him, and wearing the orthotic appliance he built for me, I haven't had a headache, or jaw pain. In addition, my jaw stopped locking and popping, and the ringing in my ear is beginning to subside. Although I realize it's going to take a while to get my jaw back into the optimal position, I'm already feeling better after only a few short weeks. It's also worth mentioning that my headaches stopped the day I wore the applicable home! And, I have not had once since which is unusual for me since I use to take up to 6 ibuprofens a day. Went to Dr. Bernie about 6 weeks ago for prolotherapy. Came in for a locked jaw and read that it could help with overall function of the jaw. I WISH!! I went to him first before other TMD/TMJ specialists. Im happy to report that my jaw function has improved massively since taking the shot. Stiffness, clicking, and noises overall have gone down and apparently the healing is supposed to continue for another month. If you have pain, limited jaw opening, clicking or popping. Seriously consider taking on some prolotherapy before moving forward with other procedures. read more

I came to Dr Bernie because I was referred to him by another dentist on the East Coast that specialized in bite orthotics to help reduce migraines. It's been a long journey for me. I had the orthotic made to see if it would help with my nightly grinding (and headaches that resulted from it) and it did. So I had Dr Bernie fix my bite that had been destroyed after years of grinding and am now on my second Orthotic that I wear at night. Now if I get a migraine it's usually from hormonal shifts or a night of too much wine. Lol. Such a relief to not have the brutal migraines and jaw tension caused by grinding.
