Dr. Paul O'Malley seems like a very competent dentist who shares his wealth of knowledge freely and exuberantly. I trust he has the capacity to deliver exceptional service. Unfortunately, I never got past having my x-rays taken. As I explore different estimates for a procedure, I have been trying my best to obtain the photos and x-rays that they charged me $100 to take. Below, I have shared my exchanges with the office manager, Tamari, who insinuated that I had already received the x-rays while we were on a call solely focused on Dr. Paul O'Malley's diagnosis--which did not include my x-rays. I even requested them directly after our call, as they were still not sent to me, but my request was ignored. In multiple emails, Tamari claimed to have sent them--first by email, then via Dropbox--but I have received neither. It is not unreasonable to request access to your own health information, especially after paying for it and traveling a considerable distance for the appointment. I write this not out of malice but in the hope of bringing attention to office practices that may be harming both clients and the business itself. I have since submitted a HIPAA complaint to obtain my images, as I refuse to expose myself to unnecessary radiation by retaking x-rays at other offices when I have already undergone the extensive imaging required here. While this dentist possesses the right knowledge and expertise, a lack of oversight over office practices makes it a gamble on the level of attention and service one might receive. read more

Today I had a very bad experience with Dr. O'Malley office. I flew in from Sacramento, only to find out that the quote I received was actually a lie to lure me to their office. When I got there I was pressured to take out a $70,000 loan (if I dont have the cash up front) to pay for the work they were supposed to do in 2 years. Even though I paid a $8,400 deposit before leaving Sacramento, after I refused to start any $70,000 work and asked for my deposit back, I was turned down and insulted. I left the medical office with a bitter taste and without $ 8400, and the secretary Sarah allowed herself to run down the hall after me to touch me and insult me...terrible..and they told me to trust them, after I was mutilated by another dentist in Rocklin, Ca (Shane Douglas) and where I lost $36000. I would characterize this office as very greedy and very insensitive. Do not go there...do not trust this office. I was about to pass out from hunger and fatigue after 28 hours of sleepless nights in their office, and when I told Sarah while she was pressuring me to take out a $70,000 loan, that I wasn't feeling well...she said "since when???" in a very arrogant and mocking tone....wow...those in the medical field should have compassion for patients...and for 2 days it was thrown in my face that they care about me...so much that they care about me...that they let me leave without $8400. I have been Dr. O'Malley's patient for a few months now (full mouth "special case" reconstruction), and even though we still have a little ways to go before everything is complete, I have been so impressed (and relieved!) to have found such an amazing, truly holistic and biomimetic dentist, that I wanted to share my experience so far. I found myself in Dr. O'Malley's office after many years of research and many disappointing consult visits to self proclaimed "holistic" dentists. When one has been through years of dental "care" that has led to extensive teeth destruction, one becomes a bit more discerning and, shall I say, suspicious, regarding whose hands one would put their dental wellbeing into. Dr. O'Malley stood head and shoulders above the "holistic" competition that I had consulted in both the OC and LA area. Case in point, I had 5 root canals, all done (and badly botched) 25+ years ago, and all other holistic and even biomimetic dentists I visited instantly recommended that all of those 5 teeth should be pulled out and replaced with implants. Dr. O'Malley, instead, helped me get in touch with the most stellar endodontist I could have wished for, and she redid and perfectly cleaned all of those root canals using the latest, truly cutting edge technology. Only 1 of those 5 teeth could not be saved; the other 4 are now perfectly healthy, and Dr. O'Malley has been doing a truly phenomenal job at rebuilding and restoring those teeth. In addition, for other maulers with massive old fillings that other dentists recommended to "just be put in crowns", Dr.O'Malley has removed those damaging botched fillings, and has been rebuilding all of those teeth (no crowns involved!) layer by layer with the passion and the patience of a true artist. Finally, I would like to give due and heartfelt thanks and praise to the exceptional Jenny, who has been with us every step of the way, and working with passion, perfection and compassion! Also, the dental hygienist (Tsarina, I believe was her name) who performed my initial cleaning was so thorough and caring, and has very much contributed to the perfectly strong and healthy gums that I can now claim to have for the first time in my life since I was a child. The front desk staff is also always extremely kind and welcoming, easy to get in touch with and helpful. Overall, I would like to conclude that I am so happy to have found myself in Dr.O'Malley's office, after many years of research, apprehension and disappointments. What can I say to truly describe the experience and the transformation that I went through. It all started when I went to a dentist and he said "you're going to have to get another root canal" at that point I just said to myself there's got to be another way. After a whole lot of research I found a biomimetic holistic dentist that also specializes in sculpting, if one level of expertise is not already enough he's got all three. The first time I walked in Dr O'Malley's office I was greeted by a professional staff and went through a 2-hour checkup which was by far the most detailed dental checkup I have ever encountered ever! After years of suffering, I'm finally out of pain!! I have always had the most sensitive teeth, and that is due to the fact that I inherited a terrible affliction from both my parents: grinding in my sleep. Despite working diligently on my nutrition and dental hygiene, my teeth were wearing away and I was getting painful cracks all over the place. I've always felt like a wimp at the dentist, because every little thing hurt so much. I would whimper and squirm, and felt very self-conscious when a dentist seemed surprised by my level of sensitivity. Dr. O'Malley was SOOOO patient. He had me put my hand up if anything hurt and he would immediately stop, and even say something like, "I see ya. No problem." He was so focused on making sure I didn't have any pain during any of the procedures, and really took the time to tweak and adjust and move this and move that so everything fit just right. He really made sure that I didn't feel rushed. He and Jenny, his dental assistant, would even tell me what they were doing, and how far along they were as they went. After the procedure, I was worried about a sore spot (that resolved itself in a day) and Jenny, was texting and talking to me on the phone and took such great care of me. Just an all-around wonderful experience! By the way, my mother had a full mouth reconstruction 5 years ago with Dr. O'Malley (as I said, she had ground down all of her teeth to almost nubs). Not only did she instantly look 20 years younger, she has not had one pain, cavity or other problem in 5 years! What is there to be routinely said or thought about regarding a dentist? Dental offices are generally a place no one likes to have to go to. There are literally hundreds to choose from it seems wherever you look! If you are anything like me you may seem to be forever burdened by our previous experiences, fears of painful shots, drilling, frequently getting a scolding about ones dental hygiene and let's not forget the pain! Heck, I'm not even mentioning the financial burdens even with/after insurance has been applied at most other providers; the procedures are never cheap! There is often confusion that occurs about which procedural codes are covered and which are only partially covered. It's all a process which I've rated somewhere between a horror story to a nightmare! However I am purely delighted to be able to share that this is all put behind me now!! The reason being is that I've found Dr. O'Malley's practice! I could go on and on about the level of comfort and one on one attention provided that is so unique and irreplaceable! I could also sing the praises of the staff in the office both Brandon the office manager and Ynah the assistant who is pleasant and also a dentist in her own right. Several years ago I went to a place which I had pre researched on both Yelp and other internet pages where reviews are kept. I thought I had discovered a gem in the ocean of the multitudes of choices out there! But boy was I wrong! Coming out of that office with a quote and recommendation for NINE root canals. Terrible gum disease deep cleaning and more - My word! My teeth were not even in as poor of the condition then as they were about two years later I found what I thought was an even better dentist with my dhmo even closer to home down the street and wow their own crown in a day machine! That's when I was given a new evaluation and although I find them to be much more comforting then the first place helping me with an abscessed molar and wisdom tooth extraction. When it came time to deal with the mess that my mouth had become it was the same old thing. Nine root canals had changed to only five root canals and one extraction two bridges and three veneers. Okay, I thought, fine. We have to do what we have to do right? Wrong! After a quote of over 22k ( after the applied insurance, which I was told is actually pretty good insurance). The dental office manager worked with me on the price and we got it down to closer to only 20k. Then, while researching my financing options, I figured hey, let's get one final second opinion on this. Back to yelped once more in the search for a second opinion just to confirm that all this work was correct and necessary. Off insurance and out of pocket, I found a holistic dentist (meaning taking the patients total health info consideration) to make an appointment for a consultation if I could provide recent X-rays it was very reasonable in price for the peace of mind. I was able to fill out all necessary paperwork right online too! No long handwritten paper forms to fill out sitting in a crowded waiting room! How simple and refreshing. I got my X-rays, emailed them in and my appointment was set. Upon entering the office I felt at ease and comfortable. It was so quiet though. The crowds of people waiting and the noise was missing because Dr O'Malley only schedules one patient at a time! You have undivided attention and never feel rushed. They had to take a few more X-rays and the dr and I spoke and he worked out the program for handling the fires in my mouth it's not everything I will need but it's damage control plus a bit more. IMPORTANT: Incredibly if you compare the prices. Tooth for tooth (minus the veneers) turns out to be relatively ****less**** expensive to fix at Dr O's than the original dentist office and this is with no insurance. out of pocket prices! Not only that, he found that because of the advanced techniques he uses that there will only by a 20-40 percent that ANY of my teeth will need a root canal at all! And that extraction and bridge? Nope! He saved the tooth. Not even a root canal! (There is a slight chance if one of the teeth acts up later it might need a root canal but it looks very good that that won't happen.) Ok, so It's not ALL unicorns and rainbows; I mean it's still the dentist but when I heard that.... No root canals... I said none??? He said nope, none! Not from what I can tell. I exclaimed I wanted to cry! In joy! My husband said he almost jumped up from the waiting area when he heard me say that but it was crying from complete happiness! I'm such a chicken and a baby when it comes to the dentist and have had horror stories to tell as well as ones from people in my family. This was more of a sweet sweet dream. I called Dr O'Malley from a reference in hopes that he could pull my wisdom teeth. Even though they didn't offer that service, Brandon (the receptionist) was sooo nice and with Dr. O'Malley's help referred me to an excellent oral surgeon that did do this. They even worked to get me an earlier appointment because I was in pain. The recommendation turned out to be excellent and I felt almost no pain throughout the recovery and was back in action that same night ( like, miraculously). I used up my insurance allottment for the year on the wisdom teeth extraction so I was unable to take care of the rest of my dental work with Dr. O'Malley (until next year). It is not often in life one says, "my dentist added years to my life," but this certainly applies to Dr. O'Malley. I first found this practice while researching mercury filling removals. After an uneasy visit with a practitioner on the other side of the country, it was a tremendous relief to find Dr. O'Malley. I had full mouth biomimetic restoration done by Dr. O in April-August 2019. He is THE BEST! I very highly recommend him. I flew all the way from Washington, DC to Los Angeles to see him. I remembered seeing him being interviewed on one of my fav YouTube channels about 10 months before. In that interview, he explained what Biomimetic Dentistry is and why it is superior to traditional dental techniques. At the time I first watched the video, I wasn't in dental pain, but by April 2019, I suddenly had lots of pain. So, I made an appointment with Dr. O. I arrived to him in severe dental pain from a leaking crown, and I also had failing fillings (both composite and gold/metal), severe enamel erosion, and another crown that seemed ok to me but later it turns out it already had inflammation and spoilage brewing underneath (so it was on the way to painful leaking in a few years). My father and other close relatives had lost most if not all of their teeth in their forties, and I didn't want this to happen to me. I had an ill-fitting bite, and all my previous dentists had no satisfactory solution for me. They just wanted me to wear a head brace or do some kind of dental trays that would pull my lower jaw forward - for the rest of my life! I was also told that I would eventually lose my teeth over time and need implants or dentures. Dr. O rescued me from all of this. He had a genius, super creative solution to address my bad bite, and it totally works! I am forever grateful to Dr. O for restoring my dental functionality (I can eat anything I want!), dental appearance (I love my new smile!), and my long-term dental health (I don't have to worry anymore about my teeth deteriorating into crowns, implants, etc. anymore!). HERE IS MY ADVICE TO YOU: If you are not experiencing dental pain, but you already have fillings or even crowns, then this is the best time for you to make an appointment with Dr. O now to get biomimetic restoration, as you still have a lot of natural healthy tooth that he can save. However, if you wait until you are in excruciating dental pain, there may not be much natural healthy tooth to save (but still go see Dr. O - he can still help you way better than any traditional dentist). I wish I had gone to see him when I first heard about him instead of waiting until I was in dental pain. He was still able to save my teeth (he saved my tooth with the leaking crown with incredible technique and expertise that no one else has, IMHO). But in general, the sooner you get biomimetic dentistry done, the better it is. Being treated by Dr. O'Malley is one of the worst medical/dental treatment experiences I have ever had. It took place 2 years ago and I still can't bring myself to believe what is the rational conclusion from my experience because I cannot believe that a human being can be this cruel to someone who is so obviously rather desperate: that Dr. O'Malley's treatment choices are based foremost on the interests of his pocketbook. There's nothing I can do about it now and leave this review just to help anyone else who may consider treatment here. I sought him out because he performs holistic removal of amalgams and had undergone training in biomimetic dentistry. I needed much work so Dr. O'Malley suggested a 2 phase treatment, the 1st of which would cost me something like $23,000 and was asked to pay it all upfront which is quite strange; every dentist I have ever been treated by asks for payment only for treatment performed that day. The figure was shocking but Dr. O'Malley assured me that his biomimetic treatment and restoration would be durable and much more effective at preventing further decay beneath the restoration. I was desperate enough to accept as I was sick and confused at the time and didn't understand what biomimetic dentistry entails. He suggested after phase 1 was done (which was just amalgam removal, placing of small fillings and temporary caps), I would see an orthodontist who would move fix my bite and move my teeth and then go back to him for phase 2 final restoration (I was afraid to ask the cost of that). I asked whether I should see an orthodontist before treatment start so that I can discuss Dr. O'Malley's proposal but Dr. O'Malley was adamant I shouldn't do so - now I know why. I have seen an orthodontist who has helped me understand that what Dr. O'Malley suggested as far as orthodontic treatment was possible is not actually (moving lots of teeth by a significant amount), and what is actually possible involves so much time, money, lifetime commitment to wearing retainers that I it's very difficult for most adults to undertake it. Given Dr. O'Malley's experience, I have no doubt he knew this is what I would eventually find out. Things began to not make sense at the 1st appointment when he had a different assistant who didn't seem to know what he was doing and made the procedure very uncomfortable. Dr. O'Malley proceeded to work on 3 teeth (2 premolars and 1 large molar) - he removed an amalgam from each, then perform biomimetic treatment (basically disinfected the root area inside the tooth then sealed it with a thin layer of resin or bonding material), then placed 1 permanent filling in a premolar and 2 temporary caps on the other 2 teeth. Total time: 2.5 hours At this point, I realized that I had been rather fooled. This special biomimetic treatment was just a slightly different way of doing a filling, it was not the extraordinary procedure I had expected since it proceeded quite fast, and certainly nothing that justified charging me 2x per tooth (billed separately for biomimetic treatment and temporary cap). To make matters worse, the special temporary caps that I was assured would be super solid and nice looking and last me for at least a year were actually big, bulky plastic things quickly fashioned in the office within minutes. It's at this point Dr. O'Malley chose to reveal that I would not be able to floss with these in my mouth!! He had told me (and I relied on it) that I would be able to undergo orthodontic treatment for at least 1 year with no problem with temporary caps in my mouth but mentioned nothing about not being able to floss; so I would not be able to floss for a year!?! Why not tell me this beforehand especially when you see that I am prone to decay. Even as he placed them, I realized the caps were cheap and not sturdy, just glued on, and chewing would knock them out (which it did within weeks). Getting a whole mouth of these as the Dr. intended would have been disastrous. Needless to say, I felt incredibly deceived as I'd been billed $800 for each of these so-called caps in addition to the $600 biomimetic base for each tooth. He wanted to continue and do the other half of my upper jaw which, if I had continued, would have completed about half of the work for Phase 1 - so that's $11500 for 5 hours of work!!! I stopped them at that point since I realized I had been taken for a fool and their main goal had been to make as much money as possible. I then had to go through the nightmare of getting the rest of the money back which they made very difficult and made up a few thousand dollars of phony charges - all in all I ended up paying $7000 for TEMPORARILY fixing 3 teeth in 2.5 hours!!! Maybe biomimetic treatment is an improvement over what typical dentists do; but there is nothing unusual, arduous, time-consuming, expensive about the treatment that it should cost so much. Consulted with Dr. O'Malley and opted to have him replace my silver fillings. He is a notably friendly and personable gent and his staff is the same. No-one enjoys dental work so it's nice to feel comfortable in the environment. He's a progressive thinker and has developed an interesting probioltic product. Just wanted to add something: Dr. Paul O'Malley gives EVERY singe patient/ client 100% dedicated attention. You NEVER feel rushed, which was often the case with my previous dentist, as I knew he had other patients lined up right after me. Dr. O'Malley will take AS LONG AS NECESSARY TO DO THE WORK PROPERLY AND COMPLETELY, and to his personal satisfaction and high standards. That might mean that your appointment might be delayed a bit, but keep in mind he will give YOU that SAME attention. Several times, I sat in his dentist's chair and wanted to go home, as I'd had enough after an hour and a half or two hours, but he persisted until the work was properly finished. Your satisfaction is extremely important to him, but so is his own! I also forgot to mention that I love using his OraRestore oil and oral pro-biotic tablets! About one month 1/2 ago I had the unfortunate experience and one of the my tooth broke. I went to other dentist before and done different dental treatment on my gum. Despite the different handling the real cause of the problem was not addressed so the problem came back. So now, when the tooth broke, I had to address that as well as other unresolved issue. I ask around and I got great feedback from other friend plus my wife also went there. So the first thing that you should know about Paul is that he put you at ease and he take the time first of all to really understand whats going on in your mouth. Why is happening what is happening. For this reason like a detective, he really take extra care on doing a dental exam - more in depth than others. From there Paul went on to go over his finding and what can be done about it. He provided me with data and facts which I could understand and make a decision with. On his first visit he address the #1 problem about my broken tooth. Paul did an awesome job because he saved any part of the natural tooth and he basically re-build the broken part around it. The whole process was done in a natural way - with no filling that could be damaging for the body. After two visit my broken tooth was all handled, re-builded back and in a better shape than before my tooth broke. - In all I went to Paul 4 times and each experience has been very rewarding and with great result. read more
