Don't get me wrong - the women there are super friendly and wonderful. This was my first facial in 10 years and i noted that i have very sensitive skin. I don't know what my face is allergic to specifically but that i seem to get an allergic reaction to things. Essential oils, glyocolic acid, and a chemical exfoliation was used on me. It all felt great and fine at the time. However, a few hours later. My neck started getting rashy. I went to bed woke up in the morning with a completely swollen and rashy face and neck. I'm rather disappointed - for technicians who have worked for decades, you'd think they'd be a little more careful when someone says they're face is very sensitive. I've taken 2 benedryl's, 2 Claritin's, and 2 Zyrtecs and I'm still completely swollen and rashy. That's how bad the reaction is. Can't wait to show this look off to clients tomorrow at work.......... read more

Aestheticare newly renovated last year and is now focusing on facials, eye lash extensions (and permanent makeup I believe). I went in to get my eyelash extensions fixed up from a Groupon I had originally gotten in Malden which was extremely horrible. Brief summary on my extensions before I went to Aestheticare - the fake eyelashes itself were long and curly which was great but they were also very hard. everytime I came out of shower or lightly patted my face, it hurt my eyelids. when I wake up from my sleep, I can feel it all tangled up. the glue and the quality of the eyelash extensions were so poorly done that I don't even blame aestheticare to want to remove the current before redoing new ones. When I went to get my consultation/eyelashes done at aestheticare, you can tell they're professionals! I had a long discussion with the technician before she operated on me. I asked many questions (differences of how long they last, the kinds of eyelashes etc) and in the end.. ended up with the Novalashes and my god are they soft, and natural looking. I don't have many eyelashes naturally and when I got out, they were very full ans natural. I can already feel myself getting addicted. I highly recommend this place to anyone who wouldn't mind spending a little more than usual. You get what you paid for and I am so happy with my new extensions!!!! read more

So I have been going to this place for about a year for facials. The facials would be alright, I would occasionally get a breakout a few days after and didn't see much of a difference in my face but I figured as long as I keep up with it maybe I would. I went to get a facial a few days ago and Lina suggested I get a chemical peel. I never had one before but since it was suggested and something new I figured why not? I didn't know the worse thing that has ever happened to me would happen. To sum it up too much of the product was started off on the left side of cheek and I then found out I was burned. I was told it could take months to go away and once healed there would be a possibility a mark would still be left. I wouldn't have even left this review because Lina was very apologetic, kind and even offered to help with a few things however, the owner, Patty, I did not like how she spoke and handled it when I came in for her to take a look. Not only did she not seem sympathetic to what had happened BUT she said I had to chose between a refund OR a free facial, like what? I don't own a business and I get mistakes happen but how dare you make me chose? I'm stuck with this mark on my face for who knows how long and you tell me to chose? She even told me she didn't have to give me a refund at all because I signed something a year ago (which they didn't even show me). Anyways she ended up saying "we will give you a refund if that will make you happy?" So yes they did give a refund although I was basically told this is a business, mistakes happen, we do our best blah blah as I'm there with this burn mark. I believe I should have gotten both, a refund AND free facials until this gets off my face. What also bothered me is how they both mentioned this "maybe" happened because the stuff I use on my face. My response was if that were the case then wouldn't it be all over my face and not in this one particular spot? They tried to say well not necessarily because some areas are more sensitive than others. Okay so again, if that was the case wouldn't it be on the other side of my cheek? Anyways we all know it happened because she applied too much of the product first (started where the mark is). Admit your faults instead of trying to say it's something I did. Moral of the story is, be careful. Yes this was a mistake, although a terrible one but just know if this happened to me it can happen to anyone. Looks so much worse in person too. read more

After experiencing a botched and EXTREMELY painful lash job in Rhode Island, I decided to find a place closer to work that was reputable. After some research I found Aestheticare and I am sooo happy I did. They were horrified at my painful experience and reassured me getting lash extensions should never be painful. Even explained the technique of separating glued lashes during application is supposed to be painless l, that is the whole point of the technique. It took so much time to actually remove my botched lashes because they discovered that the lash extensions were actually glued to my skin making it unbelievably hard to get the glue off. It took them 4 attempts to put the remover on and allow it time to do its job. INSANE! no wonder I had so much pain during and the weeks afterward. After everything was off and my lash tech Pauline begin, I could barely feel her working! I fell asleep and when I awoke I had the most natural, gorgeous lashes! I was so relieved as I had just had the worst experience with a nasty lash tech who completely brushed off my pain and tried to make it seem like this level of pain should have been expected. I had lip tattoo done by Patti, it took 3 times to get it done to the degree of satisfaction I am good with. As now, the liner of my lower lip is still darker than the rest of lip, so if you get lip tattoo, I would suggest not to use SoftTap method or at least not have the blade at 90-degree angle from your lip because it really get the color strong and full, so the rest of the lip which isn't done by SoftTap will have a lighter color, which now formed a line that I have on my lip. Pay cash to get a discount, cash price is $570 and eat plenty before your appointments because you don't want to eat and mess with your lips after it. You also don't want to go out and eat because your lips would be quite swollen and dark purple. I would, however, recommend the lip tattoo to everyone! I won't buy a lipstick anymore, and also not worry about it transfer to my cup or smear outside of my lips, and also less lead and heavy metal toxins that I will "eat". My lips now look good almost anytime! The money, pain, and time are all well worth it. read more

If I could give this salon 0 stars I would. I unfortunately tried to save a little money by going to a new salon closer to home that was recommended by a friend. BIG MISTAKE. Not only were my eye burned during application and I had a reaction to the glue they used but I was also forced to pay for an extra week on the fill because I previously went to another salon. They told me they had to assess the lashes when i got there, not that they automatically add another week. I had to go to the ER ($150 dollars later) because I had a corneal abrasion!!!! When I contacted the salon they said they don't give refunds but offered to remove them if i had a doctors signature. Sorry for not wanting to pay again to get a doctor's signature to have them removed at this salon. Do not go here!!! read more

My sister and I were in Boston from out of town and wanted a pedicure and spot removal treatment. First, the receptionist Lorraine was one of the rudest employees I've ever encountered. We were waiting for 1/2 hour before I asked when we'd be seen. She rolled her eyes and said sarcastically "well you'll just have to keep waiting." I reminded her that we weren't walk-ins and she snapped "we are very busy, don't you see?" We should have known right then that this place was a dump. The pedicure was a fail. The "spa room" is very close to the reception area so not relaxing. Foot massage? It was under a minute. The white top of the French nail polish was uneven. But NONE of this compares to the burn marks Patty left on my chest during the brown spot removal. My aesthetician in Austin was horrified. She questioned whether Patty even had a license. I went here twice. The first time I had a good experience, but the second time I had a relatively poor experience. I called ahead to book my appointment and say which treatment I wanted, but after I got there and started the treatment, the technician tried to convince me to get more expensive things done. I kept trying to make polite excuses but she was very persistent. Eventually I was able to convince her to just go with the basic treatment. I think this type of negotiation would have been ok to do at the front desk or something, but I had pads over my eyes and steam blowing in my face when this was happening so I didn't feel like I was in the best position to negotiate. read more

My face rarely breaks out but right before a long awaited reunion my skin was terrible. I had a combination of dry patches and acne and didn't think anything would help but I called this spa and they squeezed me in. I wish I could remember the name of the woman who helped me. She recommended microdermabrasion and I was a little hesitant but it felt great and it immediately improved the acne. It was still there but easily hidden with makeup and two days later it was totally gone and my face was clear and smooth. My skin looked fantastic. I get my brows waxed here and the occasional gel manicure. The staff is really wonderful - professional, talented, and friendly. The prices are great and I always leave satisfied! Nice products, too. The place is set up strangely for manis and pedis - you sit in wicker chairs and manicurist sits on a stool - so I wouldn't recommend coming here for a large party unless you are planning to rent the space out for an entire day.
