This was my 3rd visit to Affinity Radiology and while I've always had good experiences here, today deserves a special shout-out. My MRI tech Bosh, was absolutely incredible!!! I'm someone who gets really anxious with MRIs and he picked up on that instantly. Before I even got in he explained everything and gave me an eye mask which he said would help (and it did). Once I was in the machine, he talked me through every single step so I wasn't lying there guessing or spiraling in my head. He even told me exactly how long each part would take "this next one is about 2 minutes," "this one will be around 3 minutes," and then toward the end "just 3 more sections and you're done." This is going to sound crazy but he told me that I was doing great...which was nice to hear even though I wasn't doing anything but laying there - but hearing that just helped relax me so much (if that makes sense). That level of communication made such a difference and helped me stay calm the entire time. He reassured me throughout and kept checking on me and was genuinely kind (which is HUGE when you're nervous). Because of him, what normally stresses me out became completely manageable. From now on I'm requesting him and everyone I refer here is getting the same instruction...ASK FOR BOSH!! I was sent to Affinity Radiology in Hackensack for an open MRI of the brain , by the Brain Center of Englewood . After checking in , I was sent to a room with a male tech who told me to get undressed from the waist up! I asked why , since I had removed my jewelry at home . He said because of the metal in my bra .My bra has no metal, and I stated that , so he told me to get on the machine which I did . He told me I would be hearing loud noises and he took a pair of rubber ear plugs out of a plastic bag and inserted them into my ears, while leaning on my chest with his elbows and upper arms . He could have handed me the plugs, as I am quite capable of inserting them into my own ears . This was not an open MRI at all! . I became extremely claustrophobic after about 30 min and pushed the button he gave me to use if I needed help. He did not stop the machine nor he come to my aid , and after pushing the button multiple times I forcibly extracted myself from the machine! Why would , or should , anyone go to a radiology center not affiliated with a hospital? Most local hospitals in Bergen county have the technology . If you are sent to Affinity radiology, ask your self and your doctor "WHY " and make sure to get a satisfactory answer before going . read more

Affinity Radiology - Diagnostic Imaging Near Me - Hackensack, New Jersey

***Warning*** Their (DXA, previously DEXA) DOES NOT INCLUDE measuring total body composition and fat content. After reading reviews, I selected this facility which is about a five-minute drive for a DEXA scan on 11/3 Thursday. I was informed that I just needed a physician's prescription, insurance, and ID. I did not need an appointment as I can just walk in. I visited at approximately 12 PM and it was about an hour-and-a-half wait. I saw many who had come after me walk in within 5-10 minutes. Not once did the staff inform me that it'd be such a long wait or let me know that I would go in soon. I was ready to let them know that I was going to come back another day and at that moment, the radiologist called me in. I was very disappointed. Once I was walked into the DEXA scanning room, I was asked to get onto a manual weight scale. I was wearing only my underwear, quarter-length socks, and their cloth gown at the time. I weighed in at about 182 lbs. I got back home, I happen to have four body composition scales. I tried to replicate the same clothing weight wearing about the same clothing and I was rated 177.1, 177.4, 177.8, and 178.8 lbs. on my scales. The scales are about three weeks old on average. I was fasting, not even drinking water until I weighed myself back home on the scales. Overall, I'm very disappointed because I first had to get a doctor's DEXA prescription, then the very long wait at the office and their scale didn't seem calibrated which the body weight being entered into a high precision DEXA scanning machine. I was too upset about the wait at the office and weight to mention it to the technician. I'm extremely disappointed after reading so many positive reviews. I did call after getting home (a five-minute drive) to inform the front desk staff about the DEXA room manual scale calibration issue. At least they can possibly address that issue. I was informed that I'd get a call back however, I don't expect a call back because they seem to be so busy. The facility is clean and the staff seemed about "average" in how they communicate with patients. Since they're so busy, I can see why they're not super nice/caring. I was fasting so, so I was hungry and thirsty, which made me extra edgy in my head but kept my cool. I was upset because I'd need a prescription again to redo the test to just enter the correct weight and I wouldn't want to possibly wait for a one-and-a-half hour again! I thought they'd reach out to redo the testing or apologize however, I did not hear back! It gets worse, part of the reason I selected this facility was what's posted on their website: "DXA scans can also be used to measure total body composition and fat content with a high degree of accuracy comparable to hydrostatic weighing" They confirmed after I got my results that they don't do that testing here so, getting the prescription from my original doctor was wasted time, money, then the scan "DUAL-ENERGY X-RAY ABSORPTION" was a $550 charge and they do not even do that type of testing at this facility! Why is it printed on their website? Why wasn't I told they did not do this testing? *** THIS IS FALSE ADVERTISING OR AT LEAST FALSE IMPLIED ADVERTISING *** Search engine, "The main goal of the DXA" Result: Dual X-ray Absorptiometry (DXA) is a quick and pain free scan that can tell you a lot about your body. The main goal of the DXA is to provide you with an in-depth analysis of the main components of your body; fat, muscle and bone. Next steps: - Disputing the charges with the insurance carrier and the remaining payment amount due by me. - Reporting them to the Better Business Bureau for false advertising/implied false advertising. If the above doesn't work to get the charges reversed/dropped, I will then hand it all to my attorney to pursue further including getting legal service fees and compensation for myself for all the time spent on this issue. read more

I was able to walk in for an xray that I needed. The staff was more than helpful with paperwork and addressed any questions or concerns I had. I was told to change into a gown. Laying down for the machine was uncomfortable, but the tech was more than pleasant and tried to make me as comfortable as I could be. You guys rock. read more

They do not schedule appointments for xrays so these are made on a "Walk In" basis. I registered online and they sent me a text stating they would be open between 8am and 4pm.when I arrived at the facility I could not find the address. It is located behind some garages and is not visible from the street.After snooping around for a while and driving up and down the street I found the building. I gathered my paperwork and walked into the building. I was greeted by the receptionist who informed me that the xray tech was out and wouldn't be back for an hour and a half.I left and drove to NJ Imaging in Hackensack where they took me immediately. read more

She went above and beyond to make sure that all of my needs as a patient were taken care of. She made me feel at ease with the whole process. The facility itself is great. This was the first time in my life I did not have an anxiety attack having to do a MRI. The office is very smoothing with special lights and TV screens. But the BEST part was the beautiful new pond MRI machine! I didn't feel like I was in a tube at all!!! Lots of space and great staff. Highly recommend!!! read more

Nice staff, but took way longer than I expected. My MRI was scheduled for 11:30am, I arrived at 11am as instructed to fill out paperwork. I was finished in ten minutes, they xeroxed my cards and I waited, and waited and waited. I was finally called in close to 2, my time in the tube was maybe half an hour, when I finally left it was past 3pm!! I wish I had been warned that this MRI was going to be a whole day affair. read more

Went in for a hand X-ray. The whole process took about 20 minutes. Everyone friendly and helpful. Asked the tech an MRI question and she wasn't totally sure of the answer. As I was driving home, the tech called me after she spoke to an MRI tech to give me the correct answer. I highly recommend Affinity Radiology. read more

They ur not professional at all. This is not a place to trust your health about. They cancel your appointment just 18 hours before.

Worst experience in a medical office I've ever had. They treat you like you don't exist. The worst part was the MRI itself. The tech didn't say a word to me other than to lie down. She isolated my neck, shoved foam buds into my ears, plopped an emergency button on my belly, and moved me into the machine. She then left the room and started the test, never uttering a word. I've had many MRIs in the past, and knew what to expect, a sudden, extraordinarily loud sound piercing your head. Despite expecting it, without her telling me it was about to happen, as every other MRI tech has done, I was startled and jumped up. If I had never had an MRI and this happened, I would have pressed the emergency button and bolted out of the machine. You then leave through a separate entrance, not through the waiting room and reception desk. They don't deserve to be certified if this is how they treat people. I need a second MRI, and I won't be going there to have it done. read more

I've had a few mri's at this facility and every time has been a good experience. The center itself is really beautiful and is spotlessly clean. The staff and techs were extremely patient and friendly! I have a bit of claustrophobia and was definitely nervous going in. But they were very patient with me throughout and helped me get through it. Def recommend this facility! read more

Went to Affinity after my doctor suggested that I get a MRI due to some pain shooting down my arms and legs. The place is super clean and big it looks almost like a plastic surgery office. I had a wait of about 10 minutes but the staff made me coffee and had bottled water and choose-your-own music on ipads so it was all good. Shoutout to my tech whatever your name was for trying to make me as comfortable as possible because Im not the biggest fan of laying in a place for more than 5 mins. read more

Maria at the front desk is highly unprofessional. She spoke over me the entire call, answered the call while she was laughing and just wouldn't listen to anything I was saying. She even cursed on the line with me and was extremely rude towards me. I've been in the medical field for quite some time now and never came across someone as rude as she was. Nice staff at front desk. I was really early, and the staff at the front was very accommodating. My tech was just okay. I started with the enclosed MRI and headphones with music. I asked for the music to be turned down, and he got a little ruffled. Once I said I didn't want to go inside the machine, he kept insisting that he wanted to show me where I was going to be. I didn't realize that I would be that enclosed. I had to keep repeating that I did not want to do it. I didn't get that warm fuzzy feeling from him...rather exasperation with the effort I put him through. He took me to an open MRI and did the procedure. The music was on, but the noise from the machine made it stressful. It wasn't the most comfortable position. I understand there are things called Stand-up MRIs...I see they are only available in NYC and South NJ. If I had to do it over again, I would do a Stand-up MRI. Unfortunately, this company doesn't have this. At least they have an open MRI. There was no TV to watch, no magazines...just music blaring over the speakers in the open MRI. He said the enclosed MRI was more accurate. Oh, well....it's not an experience I would want to repeat. read more

Liked the place, staff was pleasant but the MRI technician was rough.

I came here with my daughter to have an X-Ray performed. The staff was indifferent and almost all of them seemed to be either having private conversations or texting on their phones. Unreal. I have never been to a medical office where I have seen such blatant disregard for working or even pretending like you are working. We waited a long time in the waiting room and I couldn't understand why. They weren't even busy and they didn't even try to fake it like they were working. I stood up and asked how much longer it would be. Lo and behold, we were called five minutes later... to another waiting room to sit longer, that is. After a while I asked again, who is working here and when will my daughter be seen. Couple minutes later a young girl came out to perform the X-Ray. She was nice but everyone else seemed to have no concern for patients, waiting time, keeping appointments or appearing busy. She assured me the doctor would receive the results immediately and when I checked with my doctor several hours later, they had not received anything. I had to call Hackensack Imaging Center only to discover they had the results but no one had bothered to forward them. The girl on the phone said there was no fax number on my doctor's prescription sheet. OK.....so either call the doctor's office or look on the Internet for the fax number. Since you guys enjoy surfing the Internet so much it shouldn't be an issue, right? Heaven forbid a patient should disrupt your personal time. While we were waiting in the first waiting room, a man stood up and complained, asking when he would be seen. The staff only seemed to notice you when you complained. Had we not said anything, we would have waited even longer. I only went there because our pediatrician suggested it but I hope I never have to come back. Although I am extremely claustrophobic, the technician Kenny was extremely helpful in keeping me calm and used different techniques until I was comfortable enough. I'm wondering if this place changed owners because the negative reviews are from a few years ago and are nothing like what I experienced at Affinity. The staff was extremely kind and accommodating. The waiting room is huge and low key, no bright fluorescent light or annoying talk show TV. There's a silent TV with subtitles. Rest room was clean. The open MRI room has all windows on one side overlooking the parking lot so it helps with claustrophobia. Every person I encountered there was exceptionally nice and well mannered. They were prompt too, hardly any wait at all. And they gave me my MRI disk within a few minutes of completing the test. I recommend Affinity to everyone and for your pets too, but if you are claustrophobic this is absolutely THE place for you. read more

Went to Affinity today for an open MRI and an X-ray. Staff was excellent, friendly and courteous. Everyone in their office exemplified what customer service should be like. The phone receptionist, office staff and especially the MRI/X-ray tech was wonderful. I hate closed MRI like most people so went to Affinity because they have the open MRI. I was still somewhat uncomfortable as the MRI machine was going to be positioned close to my head but the tech gave me ear plugs, asked what kind of music I wanted to hear and even went to get me a magazine to read while he was doing the MRI. In short he did everything right to ease my discomfort at having an MRI and he succeeded. Highly recommend Affinity to anyone who needs open MRI. read more

I first would like to note that I created a yelp account to specifically write a review about this imaging center. I have never had such a horrible experience at a place of business. I took my mother to her appointment for an MRI at 2pm and arrived 15 minutes early. We waited two hours in a non-airconditioned waiting room when it was 90+ degrees outside. During that time the "staff" that supposedly "works" there did nothing but talk about their weekend plans and gossip about doctors using inappropriate language. We decided to to leave and make an appointment somewhere. when i went to retrieve the paper work we had given the said staff, we were given an attitude. The manager then took notice and tried to get us to stay saying that it will be another 30 minutes. When we said no, she then said she would take us now. What? we stormed out of the office and she followed us into the parking lot and gave us this sob story about how there was an emergency, blah blah blah. none of it was true because. I am going to be sharing my complaints with all the doctors i come in contact with from here on out. read more
