I've been here once for an animal emergency last year where my dog had gotten attacked by another animal and I had called them before I visited to ensure my dog can get care and they said yes. I also told them my dog was reactive especially after being attacked to let them know. I told this vet and they just said yes we'll make sure that we can keep the dogs out of sight, I get there and there's many dogs in the waiting room. I wait outside and ask if I should wait in the car or if I can bring them through another entrance and they just said no, I have to waiting in the waiting room with 5 other dogs, so we did but that was already the first red flag. They put us in a room that was extremely dirty and the door couldn't close all the way. Front desk lady comes to explain that we shouldn't be fooled by the name of the vet. I'm thrown off bc I called specifically to ask about their low cost vet and the lady just states the same thing over and over again and I literally just got up and left. Brought my new found pet who was a stray and wondering into my home. Had been trying to locate the owner via social media and flyers and no one claimed him. Decided to foster him and was looking for vet who could see him same day as he seemed like he had been on the street for some time and needed some care. Dr. Grant and the team here at this clinic were amazing. Everything was well explained to me, and I appreciated the fact that they were able to see him the same day. They even did their best to keep him as long as possible to run the tests he needed. This place was the only one I could find that would do a wellness exam and labs all in one day! Was truly impressed with their speedy customer service. I felt the prices were fair and even a bit lower thank other vets I contacted for the same service. This is a drop off vet clinic. That means you leave your pet there from 9am till 4:30-5pm(6:30pm). Communication is terrible and really not that affordable. I was so stressed all day waiting, at pick up and it was still 1.5 hours of waiting outside after I called to let them know I was there. No directions on when to start next dose of pain killers and antibiotics for my pet. I should have spent the extra $$ to go to my regular vet. Lesson learned. Very frustrating experience. You check-in online, which is great but the website was down. That's fine, so I called ahead for my dogs shots and they told me to come in. I didn't expect to be walked in, I assumed we would wait in line which is understandable. When I show up she tells me I also need a check-up with her shots, and due to a meeting I will have to check back in at 2:30pm.. this is at 10am, when I arrived. Why not communicate that over the phone!?? If you know shots sometimes require a check-up, ask for the dogs information, given that you know you'll be down for a few hours. Kika had a really bad accident last Wednesday, June 19, at 9 in the morning. She had went outside and slipped under our gate heading towards the park area in front of our house. We hadn't noticed at the time when she left. We heard her screaming and my daughter and I ran outside to see what was wrong, we saw her come from under our gate with half of her torso back area skin completely torn off. We rushed to this animal hospital to see if they can help her, and they helped her so much. At 1st, we had almost put her to sleep, as we didn't have enough money to pay for the full price of the surgery she needed. As the debating continued on what we should do, to doctor said she can drop the price to a reasonable one. We payed for her surgery and everyday she is recovering more more with the help of the doctors and nurses. She is currently still staying there for treatment but they take such good care of her. She has warm blankets and clean bandages with warm food. I would NOT recommend this clinic to anyone who loves their pet. I came here as a last resort since my baby of 15+ years wasn't eating or drinking water. My "forever puppy" has a regular vet who was closed for thanksgiving week but this was urgent. I waited a long time in the long line which is fine, I completely understand the new regulations. They took my fur baby in and the vet calls me a few hours later telling me she needed to run many, many tests on my dog because it's apparent that My dog has been neglected! This condescending woman assumed that because my dog looked in bad shape, that I obviously didn't want him and if I didn't pay for all the tests she wanted to run then she couldn't help him unless I surrendered him to her. I refused to have them run any tests as she hadn't the slightest clue as to what could be wrong. I took my dog today to his vet, he had cancer and his vet didn't even have to do any invasive tests. I hope the "vet" at the Compton clinic has this on her conscience for some time and in the future puts the well-being of any animal before her money-hungry motives. My poor baby suffered needlessly all because she wanted to charge for tests. I have to give everyone here at this office 5 stars. My 3-4 yr old cat started vomiting dark liquid Sunday afternoon and into the night. I took her to the emergency pet hospital where they gave her fluids for dehydration so I could take her to a more affordable clinic for treatment the following day. She wasn't eating or drinking any water, nor using the restroom. I brought my cat here Monday morning where they performed some x-rays and blood tests. She was diagnosed with having foreign objects obstructing her digestion and was going to need to have surgery. Unfortunately, due to financial troubles and after talking it over and seeing all our options, we decided the best option for my angel was to put her to sleep. I am immensely heartbroken at the loss of my Lunita, but am still extremely grateful for the doctor and staff for being so empathetic and compassionate about the whole situation and for my kitty. I literally cannot thank Dr. Grant and the entire staff enough for fighting for me, and having my back throughout the entire process. They were all so helpful and gave me every resource they could to save my cat. Every single one of them tried to do everything and anything they could. MY sister is a vet tech at this location and her Doctor euthanized MY lizard a few days ago. It was a scheduled procedure so I did not have wait in line I just showed up at my SCHEDULED time to have the procedure done. I also brought HER dog so she can check his weight because he's over weight and the Doctor has been monitoring him. She did not bring back pet food we have more than enough at home. So yes we were not following the social distancing rules because we live in the same house. I have been this location in action, people coming and going and everyone leaving happy with healthy pets. It's about to get real K*ren in here. So I found out that this was my closest vet through yelp. I called and they said they are online check ins. However, you have to check in right at 9am to really get an appointment for the day. So after 3 tries, I finally get my name on the waitlist and I'm 3rd in line. I get a call 30 minutes later asking me questions and telling me to head their way and wait in my car and it seemed like a no contact situation. When I get here, it's like 8 people outside with their dog. Okay, so screw no contact. So I admit that I could have been more vocal. I saw that the assistants were out calling names so I just assumed I needed to wait for my name. Which shouldn't be long because I'm 3rd in line. I'm watching the vet come out and call name after name, while passing me and my dog. Now it's an hour and a nurse hasn't come out in awhile. Once she does, I mention that I haven't been called but I'm 3rd in line and been here an hour. She says "well did you call?" I'm like someone called me at 9:30. She says oh you have to call when you get here. What? No one else did... they were just calling out names. She says "well you were supposed to call". Whatever. So I fill out the lil stinkin form. I overhear her tell someone else they are going in the order from the waitlist. So now I'm pissed and open yelp because why did you play me?? It seems like they were overwhelmed and instead of owning it, they made US the problem. First of all, thank you to Dr. Grant and Dr.Lina for being so amazing, caring, and kind! Our dog Luna was originally being seen by Dr. Grant who was so informative because she had bladder stones. We were supposed to do the surgery with her to remove our baby's stones, but we ended up having to do an emergency surgery. We were so lucky to have Dr. Lina see her and do the surgery that same day despite Luna being Dr. Grants patient. If it wasn't for that, something bad could have happened. Dr. Lina was so kind and after the surgery was over, she called me to let me know how it went. She even gave me her personal email to email her any questions that I may have had about our dogs incision and healing process. I can't say enough nice things about them, or the caring vet techs that work there. I do admit that because they're so busy they can at times take a while to come out, but that's okay. Our dog Luna seems so much more happier now, and energetic! Please note that they're currently not a walk in hospital and they are having people check in, on their website onto a waiting list. We didn't know the first day we went and didn't get on the list so we had to come home, but the next day we knew to check in exactly at 9am and were able to get on the list. *I personally prefer this check in method over just walking in read more

May 13, 2021 My name is Letrecia On April 30th I called Affordable Animal Hospital located at 1040 S. Long Beach Blv. Compton, Ca 90220 to make an appointment for my dog angel to get all of her shots up to date, nails clipped and a de-wormed. Those were the three request that I made over the phone to the receptionist. She responded that Angel was still in their data base and that the earliest I could get her in would be on May 6, 2021 at 9am I responded okay it's a date. (During this phone conversation I was not informed that my dog would have to take a physical) Then the receptionist told me to call just before arrival to confirm that I was on my way with the dog. On May 6th Approximately 8:42am I called the clinic to let them know I was on my way. (still nobody has informed me that angel had to take a physical). Arrived at 9:02am a male staff had come to the door with paperwork in his hand that contained my requested services for angel and it also had my contact information so that I could be reached upon completion. I then asked the young man how long do you think she will be here so I can stay around in the area? He stated oh go ahead and enjoy your day she is going to be here a few hours because there was other dogs ahead of her. I responded ok then thank you so much and I left (still I was not updated on a mandatory physical). 3:44pm I received a call from the clinic informing me that Angel received her shots, Nails clipped, De-Wormer, and physical she went on to tell me that angel need Omega oils and so on... I stopped her in the middle of her conversation and said I did not ask for a physical, why did you do that? I also told her I already give my dog omega what are you talking about? She replied well im sorry the physical is mandatory. I then asked her how much is my bill. This girl did not even know the prices of the services off hand. She started adding things up oh!! She stated your total is $113.00. How would you like to pay cash or card? I told her she needs to waive that physical charge because I did not request it. Then I asked to speak with a supervisor and she responded that she was the supervisor. This girl had no remorse and she did not care. I told her that they had many of chances to tell me about this physical and this is a bunch of bull. Even on the door with all the Covid guidelines there is nothing that stated ( there is a mandatory physical) Since its covid19 I was not able to sit with my dog like I usually do, so I really don't know if my dog had a physical, because I was not given any paper work on a physical.. what did they check I really don't know and no veterinarian has come out to tell me anything about angel at all. She has a lump I know that from doing my own exams but nobody came out and told me what it was nor did they show it to me. And where was there documentation stating that she was examined. This is my first time coming to this veterinarian. Im assuming because of the "low prices" the wait is longer. As i approached the counter both receptionist were on their phone and what appeared to be the screen of Instagram, they were either distracted or pretending I wasnt there. Finally one of them looked up and asked if i had a question. I told them i was looking for the sign-in clip board. Consultations are 35$. I came in at 10:09am and havent not been seen yet, its been approximately an hour and a half (11:39am now). Only 2 people have been seen so far. The two receptionist need customer service etiquette. They conversated so loud that everyone in the waiting room could hear their conversation. They spoke about their personal relationship and how "pendejo" her bf was for doing what he did. Really guys?!?!?! As i continue to wait there are people walking in commenting on how no one is answering the phones. Maybe if they stopped conversating about their personal life , they would be able to answer incoming calls.. The facility itself is small. Floors are dirty and walls are covered with urine which looks stained from months , its starting to peel like old paint. It is 11:41and im inside a room now.
