The doctors professionalism sucks!!! They look at your dog like a weird creature. My opinion they don't like animals they just love the $ they can get from you. I took my do today because he's being wining I explained to her and she keeps asking like what's wrong with your dog I'm like that's why I'm here for hello for you to figure out. She keeps saying talk to your dog the assistant was holding him but she really didn't care at all. First this guy came inside the waiting room and trust me he didn't care at all he asked is he going to bite I said maybe then he went to get a muzzle and never came back. Then the doctor came back. She hear his heart, touch his body and said he might be in pain and that he would need test for a diagnosis. The assistant came back and gave a price of $50 for pain medication and it would cost me $961 for test just to get a diagnosis. This is absurd and ridiculous I said no thanks. I paid $75 for nothing. I called back before they closed and I said I'm taking my dog back because I think he has an ear infection as I've this sign in the past and yes it turned out to be but I said I'm not paying again she put me on hold for some minutes and she said yes you can bring him back and his ear can be check but if the doctor is not able to see his ear he would need to sedate for $150. So somehow they would get $ of me, hm I don't think so. So this tells you that if she is not able to figured out what's wrong with my dog what kind of vet this lady is. I wonder how they got their license and all the so called 5 star experiences I think somehow they're just fake. If you love your pet don't take him/her there even if the last place in earth. When I was called in she looked me up and down in a disgusted look as if she was judging me based off what I was wearing. My cat got injured and was badly hurt from her face. I had stop coming bringing my dog here because the doctor refuses to see my dog because his chart says "bite". My dog never bit the dr but had to mention it just so he is aware. The last time I checked this was an animal clinic so all dogs might growl and bite but we as owners should be able to hold our dog or if need be, put a muzzle but the dr refuses. It's really up to you if you want to take your pet there , just keep in mind the dr doesn't do much work, the assistants are way more helpful then he is. The rules are just ridiculous. I made the decision to wait to write this review because of the horrendous experience I had and was fooled by the amount of good reviews this account has on Yelp and Google. I took my dog in for a rabies vaccine and for a possible ear infection. The vet assistant was professional, just doing her job, nothing out of the norm however, as she's taking down my concerns the DOCTOR interrupts her from the other room to ask for missing supplies from a cabinet. The vet assistant had to stop mid sentence to go tend to his needs. I overheard their conversation which was unpleasant to witness as this doesn't need to be right in front of the customer. Anyway, she came back over, helped my dog get weighed on the scale, and let me know the doctor would be in shortly. As soon as the doctor enters the room, my dog gave him soft growls. The doctor right away stated, "that's not good," then proceeded to ask what I was in for. Well if he had done his part in checking with the assistant, he would know why but as I began to explain it was for a rabies vaccine, he cuts me off and yells to the assistant from across the room, "did you tell her to come back tomorrow morning so we could sedate the dog?" Then looks at me and says, "okay this is what we're going to do, you're going to come back tomorrow morning so we can sedate him so we can check him." First of all, DOCTOR, I'm positive there are other options such as a muzzle. What I said to the doctor was, "I cant come in tomorrow morning but at the other vets I've visited, they handle the pets in the back so the owner is not present and I've never had an issue with that." He thought about it and said, "No. He might move." Now, unless the animals are unalive, I'm sure they're all moving?? This was plenty for me, I said, "you know what I'll just go elsewhere." Really no need to spend any more time here. He responded condescendingly, "yeah okay." Obviously this man is not in the right profession and clearly doesn't know how to handle live animals. It was clear my dog did not like him so it was for best that he did not help us. I'm just really concerned that the doctor's first thought went right into sedation over an ear infection. Who knows how many people he has fooled into paying loads of money for this procedure over minor complications. Very appalling and unprofessional. read more

This is the PERFECT place to go if you love throwing your money into the trash! The doctor was horribly rude. When I first arrived, I was put in a room waiting to see the vet, and there was a man in there doing something on a computer so I greet him and I am met with no response-- just looked me in the eyes coldly and went back to typing on his computer. Same man comes in again, turns out it's the vet himself. Now, when it comes time to talking about what's wrong with my dog, he is a complete asshole. I am not one to use these words, especially when leaving reviews because tearing businesses apart is wrong, but this was downright undeserving. I came in desperate, looking for help, and this doctor stands there scolding me, being a smart ass, and not letting me get a question or word in to find out what my next steps and options are. I've been to sketchier one-star vets where the customer service was FAR above this. How unprofessional, prideful, arrogant, and miserable of a human do you have to be to hate others so much? Why are you even a vet? You being an elder and having credentials does NOT give you the right to being an insufferable human. As if this isn't enough, he gave injections that I did not approve of beforehand, which racked up my bill and wasn't prepared to pay. I feel bad that your kind staff, who are very sweet ladies by the way, have to work there and be associated with you. Truly, if you want real help and not to be scammed BLIND, go elsewhere. After asking a few colleagues who live around the area, they told me I shouldn't have gone there in the first place because all locals know he is bad news. Silly me, but I will be all the wiser to choose a real vet next time. I arrived here mainly because they were one of the few clinics that were open during this pandemic and I can honestly say I am so grateful to have found such a carrying and honest animal hospital. Upon arriving to this clinic, both Adriana and Bertha have been nothing but carrying and informative about any needs or questions that I've had about my Pomeranian puppy. They truly go above and beyond with getting to know myself aswell as my puppy and you are able to see that same interaction with all animals and owners that arrive at this place. There are many negative reviews about Dr. Ashiq but from my personal experience, he is a great doctor. He is very straightforward about what your pet needs and what it takes to resolve the issues that your pet might have. He takes the time to answer any questions that you have for him and although many people do not like his attitude and feel as though he makes them feel "beneath him", I highly appreciate someone who goes straight to the issue and tells you exactly what you need inorder to maintain your animal as healthy as possible. Every medication and every recommendation he has given my puppy has helped tremendously and he does not give you medication or lab works if he does not feel like your pet genuinely needs it, just for the sake of charging you. If you are a very sensitive person who cannot take criticism or "sarcasm" in the best interest of your babies, DO NOT come here! The doctor prescribed my puppy medication and prescribed a prescription-based food that helped my puppy's growth. Monday was my first time coming to Garfield animal hospital I came here because my regular vet did not carry a flea medication I wanted. I had my consultation but also asked a few other questions regarding my dogs shedding and frito feet (stinky paw) now I had just taken her into my old vet for that particular reason, she checked her out looked at her nails and fur told me it might be she's not absorbing her food properly, and sent us home. Now that I've had her re checked at Garfield they gave me a supplement to squirt in her food for a month to see if she is absorbing nutrients and also asked for a stool sample. Then next day I took her sample in and within 5 hours the dr called me back and let me know my dog not only had tape worm but also ringworm. Well I tell you what!! I just found me a new vet. FYI excessive shedding can be caused by ringworm. read more

Dr. Ashiq, Adriana and Bertha are amazing at what they do. I've been going to GAH since I was a kid with my first puppy (keep in mind I'm 20 yo, so it's been like 15+ years) & I haven't ever regretted taking all my dogs there. I currently own a husky and chow chow and they're both in such great hands at GAH. I've got to admit, Dr. Ashiq is a very straight forward guy and he tells you like it is. My chow chow is very sensitive to flee bites and has had to come to many visits because of it. Dr. Ashiq told me his professional opinion and sure, it hurt my feelings a little since it seemed like he was implying that I don't take care of my dog, but after cooling down a little, I realized he was right. I prefer a Dr. who is straight forward with me than to beat around the bush. I've learned to love that side of him, and I'm glad he is that way because now I take better care of my chow chow. I wouldn't go any other place but here, Update: I recently had to leave my husky Luna with GAH due to an unexpected family Emergency. Bertha and Adriana were empathetic and took care of my baby while I was away. They're boarding services are great! It's too bad I have to write this as a one star review. The staff are hard working and do their best to accommodate. The Dr on the other hand issue completely different story. Upon me asking questions regarding my dog he become apprehensive and appeared to go into shock. It was as "who was I" to ask questions when this was his realm and he knows all. Needless to say I let him know that his demeanor was not acceptable and he should not talk down to people. (That didn't go over very well) I paid for the services because I was worried since he told me both my dogs had issues and needed all kinds of hypoallergenic food, and I would have to pay for bloodwork to see if he could even treat my dogs for possible infections and allergies. In the end I decided not to go back and now my older senior dog is doing excellent and happy. My puppy, is no longer underweight and has no medical issues. I'm sure he is great Dr with some people, but not for me. This doctor is rude, talks down to people, and appears to be guessing at his practice. Yesterday was the first time taking our new dogs here, my experience was awesome. The girls that work there were so nice to my son , my dogs and I. People like them that made us feel welcome make us want to come back. It was hot day yesterday and we walk a long way and they seen that without us telling them and offer water to all of us. I have been bringing my baby Nani here for 9 years, ever since she was a puppy and unfortunately she's been admitted with them twice. But they have made things so easy In taking care of her! They watch her as if she is one of their own and always take care of us. Remembering our names is my favorite as I feel as I am part of the family. He wrongly diagnosed my pets and kept telling me that my pets were dying because I was not taking proper care of them. Before he start talking down to me, I would ask him questions and he would sarcastically respond back. He was saying my Maltese was underweight and weak because she weighs 6lbs that I was also abusing her??? My cat was dying, she had anemia, and it was all my fault ?? So I took them to the Hospital in Norwalk named After Hours Animal Hospital, it's not super cheap there but they really took care of my pets and actually talk to me respectfully. My pets got better quickly, Vets there diagnosed my cat with a UTI and she was fine after 3 days. My Maltese just had a cold and got better within a week. read more
