This review is long overdue, but after 7 years, I felt compelled to share my experience with Affordable Coastal Glass. When I first remodeled my house, I made the mistake of going with a cheap glass company. Just a couple of years later, the mirrors were ruined with ugly black edges along the borders. When I re-did the bathrooms, I decided to go with a reputable company and hired Affordable Coastal Glass to supply and install all the mirrors for my two bathrooms. They stood by everything they promised during the initial quote. They made sure to properly seal the backing and edges of the mirrors to protect them against moisture. Now, seven years later, the mirrors are still in like-new condition--no black edges, clouding, or deterioration whatsoever. It seemed to be a family owned business. I came into contact with many of them, Ronnie, Danny, Ken, and Camron, who were striving to provide me with the outstanding services too. Ronnie and his team are absolutely amazing. We had a difficult project which involved installing glass railings in a manufactured home. Since our home is not really standard size, it took a lot of planning and custom work to fit the railings onto the stairs. When we first introduced Ronnie and Clint to the project, they immediately took the initiative to start in-depth planning of the project before we even signed the contract! We hired affordable Coastal glass for the third time. Unfortunately the experience was terrible. We needed glass for our pool deck. We had to pay for expensive glass engineering in order to get permits. The engineering was based on Ronnie's plans. When the inspector came for the final he notified us that the glass was not installed according to the engineering and permits. Ronnie cut corners and didn't install according to his own design. We still have not passed inspection. Another issue is the glass railing he installed spontaneously broke after only 2 years. He is trying to charging us hundreds of dollars to come clean it up and then charge again for new glass installation. This is after spending nearly $60K on glass with him. Find someone else. Don't let their name fool you. They are not competitively priced. And their phone service is poor. After putting me on fairly lengthy holds twice (total of about 3 min) for a simple quote request (an 18x18 mirror), they un-enthusiastically quoted me $47. Seriously, I think my voice put the woman to sleep. My next call to a local competitor was $15 for the exact same request. Hmmm . . should I spend $47 or $15 . . let me think . . . If I were to speculate an explanation for such a great price difference, I'd say that "Affordable" probably decided to quote me for what they wanted, whereas their far more helpful & courteous competitor asked me what I was using it for, what I wanted in terms of thickness, whether it needed to be polished, beveled, etc. To "Affordable", I advise: Customer service MATTERS! It may just be a short phone call, but it could mean a customer for life. Smile, say thank you and pretend to care about my needs. read more

Responsive on quoting and good price. The only ding would be the need to follow up with them multiple times when they didn't call after they ran a little late. The good: they were able to install my glass the same day. The bad: they absolutely hosed me when they knew I needed the glass the same day. I called right when they opened to ask for a quote. I gave the dimensions of my storefront glass door that had been shattered the night before, and the lady on the phone told me it was a standard size that they could pick up the same day. She said they would most likely be able to do it the same day, and if not, it would be first thing the next morning. The total cost for the glass and installation was $458. Foolishly, I told her that I would be willing to pay an additional fee to have it done the same day, expecting her to tack on another $50-100. She said she would get back to me. About a half hour later a different woman called and told me that it was going to be just shy of $1000. When I questioned that the price had more than doubled to guarantee it being done the same day instead of the next morning she brought the price down to $811. She knew I had no other options and I reluctantly agreed. She told me that having it done same day increased labor costs because the tech would have to come out and measure before picking up the glass even though I had given dimensions that matched a very standard retail size glass door. It was going to be a lot of back and forth driving, etc. Well, when the technician showed up, he measured and confirmed my measurements and magically had that exact size glass window in his van! Sounds like I got the run around and they doubled their profit. read more

2 STARS - Affordable Glass was recommended to us by someone at Ace Hardware. We ordered a piece of glass for the top of a desk on Thursday, June 23rd & told it would be ready the following Tuesday, the 28th. We went in on Tuesday, the 28th, to pick it up & told they forgot to order our glass & tried to act like it wasn't a big deal, just a couple more days. . When we showed up today to pick it up we were initially told it hadn't arrived AGAIN & lots of excuses about their supplier problems. Fortunately another person heard this & actually found out glass in the back - it had been there since the 24th! They all seemed to shrug it off AGAIN. If this is how this business operates routinely I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Not impressed. 7/5/16 - UPDATE- Ronnie made the gesture to reach out to me this morning to personally apologize & offer me a discount if I ever choose to come back. Nice people. Gave a quote on a huge mirror job without asking enough questions 5 days after I sent photos of the mantel mirror that needs to be taken down, shortened, and put back up. I reviewed quote and sent in dimensions as close as I could give on mirror to 18' ceiling. I have telephoned several times and never received a return call that was promised by receptionist. Owner flaked 5 times on appointment at my home to look at current mirror. Only 2 of 5 times did he telephone to cancel appt. (about 30 minutes prior to expected arrival time).He was 24 minutes late for 6th appointment. On Monday morning he promised a new quote by Tuesday evening. It is noon Wednesday and no quote yet. I think he could probably do the job, but I won't use this company because I don't know if personnel are any better at getting work done than in keeping appointments. read more

We needed a glass top for our 10 ft dining table. I contacted 5 local glass companies for estimates. Four of them came back with tampered glass table top quotes. Karen from Affordable Coastal Glass was the only one who quoted me with regular glass top. She educated me the difference between regular glass vs tempered glass. She said when tempered glass breaks, it could break into many small pieces so she would not recommend to use it as a dining table top. Regular glass top is safer and cheaper. I really appreciate her honesty. She also invited me to their store to check out different edge finishes. Ronnie, the owner, was very pleasant to talk to.
