Amir sounded professional and competent on the phone. He quoted me a great price and a quick turnaround time, so I chose this business to install 3 new windows for my condo. He delayed the install date 2 times. He didn't come to my home to do any initial tasks. He had me send photos and take measurements. He did not come to my condo after the install was done to check on the work. In fact, I never got the chance to even meet him. Unfortunately, these were minor things compared to the real problems. His workers came and did the install and finished in a couple days. Amir gave me a followup call the same day they were done. At a glance the windows looked fine, I told him they looked good. But later that evening I inspected them up close. The photos of the new windows I uploaded to Yelp speak for themselves. The big problem was that the casings they installed were completely damaged. Cracks and chips everywhere. Pretty much every corner of every casing had cracks and/or chips. The caulking they did looked so bad that anyone who watches a 3 minute instructional video on youtube could do a better job. There was residue all over. They couldn't even spend 15 minutes to sand it off and make it look more presentable. I examined the new windows from outside and the paint had sloppy edges and were not straight. Many other condo units had identical windows installed and none of them looked as bad as mine. Then a rainstorm came 4 days after the install. Rain water started leaking into my condo from the window casing. First in one spot, then two, then three, then everywhere. I had to put bowls on the floor to catch the water. It seems like he used some very inexperienced guys to do the work. And the work appears to have been rushed. They dropped some kind of residue on the carpet. They left dirty fingerprints on the walls that were painted only a couple months prior. I contacted Amir, and to his credit he made an effort to make it right, and that's why i'm giving his business 2 stars instead of one. About a week later the same employee came back and worked on the windows. The windows appears to look good. However, I have no way of knowing if the windows have a good seal or insulation. Not just for rain, but for air. I'm not confident that hot summer air or cold winter air isn't getting through the windows and causing energy inefficiency. Again, Amir did not come to check the work of his employees. I imagine what may have happened if that rainstorm didn't come, and the leak wasn't discovered until 6 months later. What if I was on vacation when it rained. I don't understand why this happened to me when his business has all positive reviews, and all good photos. read more

I've been enjoying the effective quality of these windows for over 3 years and I can tell you that they definitely hold true to their lifetime warranty. I had a minor leak on my sliding glass door after the recent storm we had and they didn't hesitate to come out and have it fixed and replaced (window frame). Love our new windows! We were impressed with Amir's initial estimate visit. He spent a lot of time educating us about the window replacement process and details. Knowledgeable, prompt, and professional. One of the things we love about our house is the large windows. Other window guys told us we had to get 3 pane windows and sacrifice some of the window space/view since they don't make windows that big anymore (would have to be custom)..but Amir was able to preserve the large window space without hesitation. I called five different window companies and had three come out for bids. I could tell right away that Amir and California Window Masters were the front runner. Between the great reviews, the prompt replies, and the can do attitude, I had confidence my project was going to get done correctly. First thing I learned, is if you have retrofitted windows now, you're going to need to get new construction windows to replace those puppies. Second thing I learned, almost no one will replace a garden window in your kitchen. "Banned in California," "We don't do those, I can give you a standard window." Not Amir though. He did say the order time was about 4 weeks because there aren't many suppliers. Then he goes and over-delivers by getting the window in 3 weeks and has it installed with 3 other standard windows in our living room. By the way, another window company came out and suggested I replace those 3 retrofitted standard windows with retrofitted windows again because "it is going to save you a lot of money" vs going with new construction. Window Master's new construction window estimate was less than the competitor's retro-fit estimate... This was another highly rated company on Yelp! California Window Master's final price matched their estimate to the penny too! No bait and switch. This project was part of a larger home renovation, and we needed that garden window in before we could put on countertops in the kitchen. The coordination went swimmingly! To throw another wrinkle in the mix it was forecasted to rain on the day of the install (end of December). Frank the foreman called a week before the install date to ask if they could start a day earlier to beat the rain. I said, "yes, please!" That is how to run a business! Frank's got a great weather resource because it rained as forecasted. We love all the new windows, such an improvement. Plus there was no having to settle with California Window Masters. I couldn't find another company that would put in that garden window. We just had that Atmospheric river of a storm this week. With over 4" of rain in the last week, there have been no leaks. I'm downgrading the stars from 5 to 3 stars, because the following happened today 2/11/2020. I had a random person show up at my house today around 3:15-3:30 pm to ask me about my windows. He showed me a piece of paper that had my name + address on it, including all the specifications of the windows I had ordered. He then proceeded to ask me if he can come into my backyard so he can inspect my windows, and then asked me whether I liked my windows. I was definitely shocked to find this person at my property AND the fact that he wanted to come in and see the window(s). I'm very upset that California Window Masters would give out past customer information to random people like that. That's an invasion of my privacy and I don't believe I ever approved this team to provide my residential information out to random people. PLEASE REMOVE US FROM YOUR DISTRIBUTION LIST (Name of Customer + Home Address) THAT YOU GIVE OUT TO POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS. Thanks to the California Window Masters crew for doing an AMAZING job installing new windows and doors for my house. I had 8 windows and 4 patio doors replaced, all new construction installation except for 1 window and 1 patio door (which were retrofitted). Like many of the reviews have mentioned, the installation crew thoughtfully covered up the furniture and the floor to protect it from the debris. It was a big project (with stucco demolition, cutting siding, restucco), but at the end of each day, the crew did an incredible job cleaning up everything so it was hardly noticeable that it was an active construction site. I had read a lot and watched a lot of videos to learn about new construction window reinstallation and its process. I would walk around to check out the condition of my rough openings as the old frames were pulled out. I would also check out the flashing and water proofing as the new windows were nailed in. I thought the crew was very methodical and did everything by the book. Some of the installers would leave a flap of the old water proofing material, under which they would tuck the new flashing and new water proofing, which I thought was a smart idea, as it further covers up crevices and any potential points for water intrusion. The communication with the crew was also very smooth. They were willing and open to fielding any questions I had and kept me posted on the progress of the project as well as what to expect for the following day. Overall, a highly professional and quality installation job. While I can't guarantee you will get the same crew that worked on my house, I do believe Frank (who is in charge of the crew) and his foremen train the new people on their team to ensure quality control. For example, on the last day, I was surprised one of the guys had just been a window installer for 5 months, as he seemed quite experienced and comfortable with his work. Additionally, I think the culture of professionalism and customer service orientation in this company comes from the top, starting with Amir and Greg. I met with 5 window companies for this project. Amir was very knowledgeable and patient in educating me about windows. Amir by far struck the best balance between being responsive and having good follow-up, without being pushy or aggressive. For the scope of work I was getting done, I thought Amir and CWM had the best value proposition.
