I am writing this in the hopes that no one else is unfortunate enough to accidentally come to this horrendous establishment. After going to another oral surgeon after they botched my wife's it is appallingly obvious how unprofessional this business is. I will go into detail below. My wife and I come in first thing in the morning for her scheduled removal of 4 wisdom teeth. Right off the bat she has to sign a bunch of paperwork that she already did. Didn't think much of it though other than some annoyance. Then she goes into the back for operation. At first it sounds like it's going well, then I hear her start to make noises. She starts wailing and crying and it sounded like she was being tortured by the CIA in a different room. It was under a very clear understanding that she was supposed to be deeply sedated and asleep for the entire operation but that's not what happened. The stuff that comes after with communication with the inept Dr Shireman was absurd. He could not keep his story straight on any topic regarding this. My wife was supposed to have deep sedation. It is the level below general anesthesia and the level above moderate anesthesia. Under deep sedation you will be asleep and incapable of verbal responses but you don't need a breathing machine like general anesthesia. It was clearly communicated to Shireman and it was even in our invoice that we paid for deep sedation. But this is not what she received. She got moderate sedation and ended up awake for the operation which put her in a severe state of panic so bad they had to stop the operation. Mistakes happen, but how you handle a mistake defines you as a professional and a person. Below I list all of the things he said that didn't line up with things he previously said: 1. Right at the emergency halting of the operation he tells me that the sedation wasn't strong enough and the only other thing they could do is general anesthesia which requires a ventilator to breathe for you. This suggests that she was on deep sedation as this the level right below GA. BUT she was not on deep sedation! She was only on moderate sedation as admitted on a phone call. This was not what we paid for and not what was on the signed invoice and not what was agreed upon. To this is only excuse was a pathetic accusation that it was his assistant that made the mistake. Absolutely embarrassing to not own up to your mistakes. 2. Another absurd miscommunication/lie, at the end of the operation he told me that they removed 1 and half of her teeth. This part is honestly so ridiculous it's funny. Later on a phone call with my wife's mother he tells her that he removed TWO of her teeth completely. Then later along communication he says that only ONE tooth is removed. And guess what we just found out today during my wife's second surgery done by a competent dentist? That he DIDNT EVEN FULLY REMOVE THE ONE TOOTH. HE STILL LEFT THE ROOT OF THE TOOTH. Absurdity to the point of humor. 3. Some other unprofessional things, afterwards the written Post Operation was in broken English. Littered with typos and grammatical errors. Post operation was also barely explained to us. We had to do almost all of our research ourselves. All of these things just gave Dr Shireman an extremely shady character that I wouldn't hope anyone would go to for a tooth removal. We were able to get a full refund after a lot of argument and convincing and pathetic excuses. Even had to go as far as threatening litigation because he didn't want to refund the tooth that he didn't even fully extract. What a joke read more

Do not come to this dentist! They were too quick and extremely unprofessional around getting wisdom teeth out. They weren't able to get all of my teeth out because they didn't sedate me enough. The dentist told different stories about how many they pulled out, and it turns out he only got a HALF of one tooth out. So I have to go through recovery TWICE. They had minimal post op instructions, and didn't even call after to check in. Before the appointment, I filled out paperwork and sent it in and then I filled out the same exact thing at the office. Unorganized, unprofessional, and a sketchy business model. PLEASE do yourself a favor and stay away from this dentist unless you want lots of trauma from getting your wisdom teeth outs ( which shouldn't be that big of a deal ) read more

Bryan Shireman can hardly be called a doctor. Dentists like him are usually called "butchers." He installed 3 implants, a bridge of 3 and a crown in my mouth, which after 2 months began to loosen one after another. In addition, the dental bridge loosened the implant that was installed several years before. "dr" Shireman did not hesitate to charge me $360 for strengthening the crown, although he should have done it for free, because this is a consequence of his work. After 2 months, the dental bridge loosened too and he wanted $450 to strengthen it. I think everyone should be responsible for their work, but "dr" Shireman does not think so. He only thinks about his own benefit. When I expressed my bewilderment about his work, he was angry. During the strengthening of the bridge, he broke a screw and said that he could not pull it out. For this I need to contact a professional. (ha-ha, but who is he in that case?). I found a Dentist who pulled out the broken screw in 10 minutes without further ado and silly jokes, the cat uses "dr" Shireman to somehow hide his incompetence during work. Afterwards, I contacted "dr" Shireman and said that everything was ready for the installation of the dental bridge. And then he started dragging his feet. He said that a new screw needed to be ordered and he didn't know when it would arrive. This went on for another 2 months. Only after I said that I would file a complaint against him, he started fussing. He decided to partially refund the crowns, but left the money for the implants and added some services to them that were not in my treatment plan. What do I have after visiting "dr" Shireman? I have 5 missing teeth in my mouth, crowns/bridge on my hand, 3 implants in my gums that other dentists do not guarantee that if they install crowns, they will work properly. The reason for the loosening of the crowns is the implants that "dr" Shireman installed. read more

Stay away from this clinic. I went there once and had a bad experience. The staff is nice, but Dr. Shireman is terrible. He talks non-stop trying to convince. I don't know how, but he convinced me to do a deep cleaning for "affordable" price and said it would be covered by insurance if they split it into two different procedures. Now the insurance company refuses to pay and now I have to pay him. And what's more, he refused any discounts he promised me, and I have to pay him the full price. I was very disappointed with my visit to Dr. Shireman. He was not focused and always in a hurry. He was careless with his instruments during the visit, often dropped them and then continued to use them. From time to time, he left the room. As I found out later, he had another patient too at the same time. When he returned, he continued working without changing his gloves. When I asked him to change his gloves, he pretended not to hear my request and went into another room again, leaving me alone. In the end, I spent more time waiting than being treated. This is definitely my last visit to his office. read more

This is the most unreliable place I have ever seen. My friend and I went there exactly a month ago. They made him pay out of pocket $99 because supposedly their administrator was working from home and they had no way to check my friend's Delta Dental coverage. They made my friend pay $200 for a CT scan because supposedly they were to consult with someone and come up with a treatment plan. That was it. I kept messaging and calling them. They never got back. We never got refund. We never saw any treatment plan. I messaged them multiple times that my friend needed urgent help due to toothache, and again got no reply. They probably assumed that my friend had no money to pay for his treatment but since he was already there, they didn't miss a chance to charge him $300. *********************** ‼They are crooks. read more

Everyone is really nice and helpful. Clean facility, and not expansive at all. When the Dr. Told me that I need to do a Ruth canal and put a crown I could swear it would cost me a liver. It didn't. I take issue with the moniker "affordable", as replacing my over large amalgam fillings with composite resulted (without warning) in cracking that was both painful and expensive. I have been coming here for over two years and I cannot recommend this place enough. When I began coming in I was dealing with a lot of dental issues and felt really self conscious about my teeth. My first appointment I was super anxious and stressed, the team at Affordable Dental were all so kind and just made me feel more at ease. From the dental hygienists to the dentists all of them were great. I have gone in for many procedures from root canals to bone grafts and implants and always my experience with the staff has been a positive one. Dr. Horton has done all of my implants and I am so glad he has! I recently mentioned that I might need a crown replaced and he took a look and had the secretary give me a price quote within 5mins. Like I said, this place is great. If you're looking for a dentist, definitely try Affordable Dental. read more

I've come here for years for affordable implants. Dr shireman just took over the practice and he and his assistant Shamika should get 5 stars. I had a complaint about a prior visit and he said, "my bad for not explaining clearly the multiple issues so today's procedure, since you don't have insurance, is free! Was in pain and concerned, called the office and their "Emergency" line, and never got a call back. Even during regular office hours. I'm glad my issue resolved itself, otherwise I'd be screwed. I wouldn't recommend this office just based off that alone. Lots of xrays, and they do nothing. High turnover rates, there's a new dentist every single time I come to my appointment which means there are new people in my mouth every time with conflicting opinions. Dental hygienist halfway cleaned and flossed my teeth and cut my lip. Nothing is affordable. Even with insurance we are left with so many charges! They are crooks and so not helpful. Terrible place, do not go here! I remember going here as a kid too! My dad went in, got a temporary crown and the permanent glue was put on my poor dad and they thinned his actual tooth so much when they kept pulling and pulling on the temporary crown it wouldn't come off! They kept pulling and messed up my dad's real tooth. This was one of his FRONT teeth and my dad came home like that!! They didn't do anything for him still two weeks later! His insurance got billed as well. He needs an implant because of their mistake. DO NOT GO HERE. Terrible terrible place. I'll be reaching out when they open, hopefully they will cover an implant. I've actually never been here. Why? Its because the earliest you can get an appointment for new patients is more than three months away. Dentist offices are notorious for inflexibility and lack of open schedules. I understand that dental offices can get bogged with patients. But THREE whole months before the first open schedule? That is ludicrous; I haven't been to dental school, but it is my understanding that three month wait before they can provide medical procedure is not quality treatment. The brief summary: staff is horrible, doctor is good. Today was my first time at Affordable Dental Care. Easy to find, free and plentiful parking. Then it was all downhill until I saw the doctor. The technician who fetched me from the waiting room didn't address me at all. So when I introduced myself to him, he said "okay." I had to ask for his name. Then he took several x-rays and "lost" them in the computer system. Another technician and the business manager all came in the room, crowded around the computer, and whispered discontentedly in a foreign language at each other. This whole time, nobody apologized to me or updated me as to what was happening. When the dentist came in (Dr. Newberry), I told him that I did not have much confidence in his team. After I told him this, my experience improved. The only reason this place gets 3 stars is because the dentist was very thorough and friendly. The staff is incompetent and unable to communicate effectively to patients. To round out my experience, the dentist asked the office manager to load my panoramic x-ray onto a CD. She printed it out on an 8.5x11" sheet of paper and told me that she didn't know how to load it onto a CD. I was not surprised, and I was not in the mood to argue any further, so I left. read more

Such a great experience with their office, especially the front desk staff who were so nice and friendly (even on a Monday!) I was able to get in quickly with Dr. Nguyen after a full exam and x-rays she explained my plan of care in detail and spent as much time as needed just talking, answering questions and giving me a referral. I had an appointment during the fall of 2019 for a cleaning. I arrived on time and signed in. I expressed my desire to skip the X-rays because I never get cavities and X-rays are not good for you in general if you can avoid them. Also, they are an added sometimes unnecessary expense...a way for the dentist to make more money. I was told that it was "protocol" to have X-rays and the dentist wouldn't clean my teeth if I didn't have the X-rays first. We went back and forth for a few minutes and finally I left. Then a month later I received a "missed appointment" charge from them for $50.00. I called and they defended their position and I mine. They would not reverse the charges. I filed a complaint with the insurance commissioner. Nothing has happened to date. I ended up paying the $50 because I have excellent credit and didn't want them to send it to collections. In general, I have had a mixed history with this dental office. The dentists are always changing every few months or so. I have been in and had a great experience one time and then when I go back the same year it's horrible like my most recent visit. Sending me the missed appointment bill was just vindictive! I just got home from a 2 hour dentist visit JUST for cleaning...I mean WAITING. I don't think it's a coincidence but I was there also yesterday with my daughter for her 2 HOURS cleaning....I mean WAITING appointment. Reading the other reviews, it was VERY accurate what they wrote. Start with X-ray (took several times on my first visit) AND to WAITING for one hour or more for the doctor for final check. The cleaning was not that long because as the other reviewers mentioned, some of the staffs were good but others are less experience. I tried to schedule my appointment together with my daughter so that we can do one visit but I'm not sure why they can do or find a way, save me trip....sign of POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. Waiting for so long (WASTE patient's time) is a sign of UN-professionalism and don't give value & respect to client's time...apology is good BUT IT DOESN'T do any good if it keeps on happening. Well, hoping somebody is paying attention to these reviews and it takes a while to gain a loyal client but it will only take a second to lose one if you don't value your clients. read more

Dr Horton and his team are amazing. I had to have a root canal and in the past that meant going to another doctor. I was so relieved to find out that Dr Horton would be performing the root canal himself. I had very little pain and healed up perfectly. Because of my Lupus I am prone to infections and had gotten them with past root canals but nothing went wrong when Dr Horton did it. My crown is undetectable & has a perfect fit. The front desk staff and the hygienist are all really kind and you feel very well taken care of there. I personally dread going to the dentist so this means a lot coming from me. Dr Horton has a calming way about him and is amazing and quick at what he does. I would reccomend anyone to see him for their dental needs. Waited 1.5 hours before being seen for a cleaning. Than they bring in an intern to take the X-rays. The girl didn't even know what she was doing and was practicing her new skills on my mouth. I unfortunately had to review this entity again. I normally don't review unless it is a very bad experience and seldom a second review. This clinic seems to be one of the worst. Not that I recently visited them but due to my recent visit to my dentist(new) for deep cleaning in another clinic. Before deep cleaning he did an initial inspection of each teeth. After the inspection, he asked me when was the last time I did my deep cleaning? When I said I did just an year and half ago, he was shocked and was curious about the clinic I got my cleaning last time. I told him it was Affordable Dental care and I was not satisfied with them then as I had one of my tooth chip off after the deep cleaning. He said that they have scammed you as he doesn't see that my teeth had any cleaning from last 2-3 years. I don't think he has any incentive in telling this to me as I'm already going with my family to this clinic. I can can confirm that Affordable dental care is not honest with their treatments. read more

This place was great! I came in to get my wisdom teeth in. The staff was accomidating to my schedule. I got my exam by someone who seemed like a student, so I was pretty nervous about the procedure. They were able to work around my schedule and get me in a day that I needed. When I got in, they had to retake my x-rays and they did it at no charge. I wanted to get a cleaning done, and they did it before they took my wisdom teeth out. The doctor did all 4 and without insurance it came out to around $1000, but with insurance it only cost me $326. The doctor was great, and there was a UW student there observing. They didnt put me under, but it wasnt that bad. I am not swollen and it doenst hurt. Definitely recommended! read more

This is a great dental office, the doctors and staff were very knowledgeable and attentive to my needs.

I do not recommend this dentist. They forced us to pay out of pocket for unnecessary xray because it was their policy. The lady admitted there wasn't a medical reason why. They don't offer metal fillings for my son's cavities in his baby teeth even though they will fall out soon, forcing us to pay a lot more money out of pocket. They also cancelled our appointments and we had to reschedule several months later. The office workers were rude. The dentists and hygienists were nice though. Not worth the administrative frustrations though. read more

Don't trust your dental health to this office! I had an implant done and within 5 years it began to fail and had to be redone (by a dentist who specialized in implants). Implants are very expensive and can run $5000. Today, I just found out that a crown they installed created a food pocket where food was being trapped and has now caused decay. I am now in for a replacement crown that will cost me $1500! Affordable isn't affordable when you have to redo the work in 5 years. If you value your teeth and your pocketbook, you will find another dentist. read more

Dr. Horton and his team are truly amazing. I've had a lot of work done here and Dr. Horton goes above and beyond and does a GREAT job! He is very professional and informative--overall a very nice man that truly cares. I haven't met anyone so nice, charming, and has a great sense of humor. The office is very clean and welcoming. Last week, I was in a lot of pain and he made sure to squeeze me his schedule and take care of my issue. I was so thankful. I will always come here and HIGHLY recommend Dr. Horton. I usually go to Covington office called last minute for an appointment and our favorite dentist was working at the Bellevue office that day and he still fit us in his schedule! Bellevue staff just as great and friendly it was my fiancé s first time there and he said that this was she best dds he's ever been to! He got his wisdom teeth pulled and said he didn't feel a thing! He waited 5 minutes in the waiting room and the dds even called to check on him the next day to see how he was feeling! Defiantly will be back thanks again affordable dental!!
