Price was $150 plus tax. Another quote I got was $125 including 2 keys and $5 extra for each additional key. I thought the $15 price difference was not worth going with a vendor not on my building's vendor list. They were also able to schedule me same-day. Our Monday was long and became even longer when we came home to discover our lock wasn't working properly. We stuck our key in and it didn't turn no matter how hard we tried. We were officially locked out. That's when I turned to Yelp to find AA Affordable Locksmith & Sons. They answered the phone promptly, even though it was 7:30 p.m. We explained our problem and right away they offered to send out a technician. They quoted us 30 minutes for him to arrive. Just about 30 minutes later, and not a minute over, friendly and helpful Austin arrived to our rescue. He was able to remove the doorknob and assess the situation. He explained to us that the doorknob was installed the wrong way causing the locking mechanism not to work properly. He didn't try to upsell us on a new door knob, because after a a thorough investigation, he said there was nothing wrong with the knob and lock itself. We were grateful for Austin's kindness and generosity of knowledge. He worked to install the doorknob properly and even showed us how to fix it ourselves if we have the same problem in the future. Austin was exceptionally courteous - he took off his shoes even though we were in our hallway, which is more of a mud room. He told us he grew up in Kaimuki, where we lived, and made us feel comfortable. The bill came out to just under $100. It wasn't bad for the peace of mind and being able to get back into our house at that late hour! He took credit card too which was fortunate since neither of us had that much cash. What a easy process! I was in and out in 13min (including testing the key and paying for it!) I've been needing a spare key for my 2009 Corolla and been putting it off for years. After being referred by another shop, I called to make an appointment. MAKING AN APPOINTMENT IS A MUST! They are super friendly on the phone and there was availability the next day. Ample parking up the ramp (Left side of Beretania - turn left after the Allstate sign) if you're past Taco Bell/Safeway you've gone too far! I got there a little early and wasn't sure where to go. The door to the shop is down the corridor between the parking lot and the building. Door was locked so I called the number. She told me Richard would be coming so I waited outside. Just at my appointment time Richard came and apologized for being late (he was not late at all!) Richard was so friendly and personable and he cut and tested my key super fast! My original appointment was unexpectedly cancelled so Bruny accommodated me on a Saturday, although the locksmith (Can't recall his name) was late to our appointment and didn't seem to have any sense of urgency. 20 minutes after the locksmith arrived Bruny asked me to wait outside so she could drive out to another appointment, expecting him to done in a few minutes, as key program are normally a quick thing. I ended up having to wait for well over an hour before the locksmith told me he couldn't program it and gave me the number of another company. Overall, very friendly on Brunys behalf. This guy is completely unprofessional. I called to ask for a part and get hung up on. I continued calling back and he finally answered and I asked if he hangs up on all his potential customers. He stated I already asked him about a part and I need to call his son and he sent me a text message. He never sent a text, but I hung up. He then called me back and said "so that's all you wanted to do was call me back to hang up on me right?" And then hung up on me again. I texted him back telling him he was a disgrace to security professionals (I am in security) everywhere and he then told me I should go back to the mainland where I belong. Do you have those fancy car key remotes with the computer chip? Have you ever called the dealer to see how much it costs to get them replaced? Mine would have cost $250! Pfft. If your key is cracked or you just need another copy of your car key, call these guys. They can give you a quote over the phone if you tell them what type of car/key it is. I didn't call them for a car key, though, I had something else going on this week. My problem was the wind blew my front door open while I was at work. Yeah. Long story but anyway I thought I wanted a new handle and deadbolt for the front door. Richard Sr took my call. He has over 40yrs in the locksmith industry. He told me that would cost way too much. I sent him pictures of the door and he said he could fix the door jam and it would cost $75 for the service call and $25 for the part adjustment. When he arrived he was quick, professional, and got the job done. He fixed the doorjam so now the door will not blow open by itself. He charged me what he quoted over the phone plus tax ($104.70), gave me the invoice, I paid, and he left. He has a 90 day guarantee and will come out and fix the lock again if the wind manages to blow the door open again. I don't think the wind has a chance. read more

I've been living the dangerous life of having only 1 key for my Toyota Corolla for years and years. I finally broke down and decided to get some spares. I did some reading online, and as a technical experiment, I wanted to see if I could buy some of my own transponder key blanks and program it myself. I bought blank transponder keys from amazon along with a cheap programmer. I couldn't cut the keys myself though, so I needed help. I had previously gone to city mill and another small locksmith and was told they couldn't cut my blank transponder keys due to liability. I told them I just wanted it mechanically cut and would sign something if needed to release them of liability but both places refused. AA Affordable Locksmith and Sons was great. I went to their office near lunch and luckily someone was there (apparently sometimes they will be out on jobs). He was able to very quickly cut my two keys for $8 per key. He told me that he didn't think the keys would work because they didn't have the dot that most transponder keys have. I told him it was more of an experiment I was trying, but if it didn't work, I would be back and just pay them to make my spare key from scratch. They do have the ability to make transponder keys. Luckily though, I didn't need to. The keys were perfectly cut and opened up my car doors no problem. Surprisingly enough, the cheap programmer I bought worked too and there really was a transponder in the cheap keys I bought! I was able to program both keys and have them linked to my car. Highly recommend this place. Helpful, fast, friendly, and their prices were very reasonable. read more

I accidentally got locked out of my car, my bag was on my driver's seat and the wind blew my car door shut. It was in slow motion and mahalo ke Akua that I didn'thave to work until 6pm. They were very professional and answered the phone and my questions diligently. They priced me $50 for cash and $60 for card. They asked me to text the information to them my car model, year, and address that I'm at. I asked if I could go to my atm and they said that would be fine. OMG! These guys are awesome. This is "THEE" locksmith company that everyone needs to go to when you have a situation. (My review may be long, but it will be worth your time to read.) My husband had lost his bundle of keys, which had his truck key on it. I had called to get an estimate from another key "person" who didn't answer with the company's name, which concerned me because it could be a scam. So I did some research. The company had a GET however was not currently registered with the DCCA, as it was dissolved, cancelled and terminate according to their records. I figured I would continue to shop around more. A few minutes later, I received a text, informing me that I should be aware of people quoting me a lower price and then coming and charging me more. He is genuinely concerned." then of course, because of my concerns from the first one I called I thought that it could be a scam, and that he just wants my business. Well, I started to do my research. I found that Affordable Locksmith & Sons had both their GET & DCCA license. She kept me company as I sat in the air conditioned office, talking with her about this father-son business, while the both of them were outside working on my car. When they were done, they reassured me that everything was good. (And it is) The price I paid for everything was far less than expected, and the customer service is awesome. My Waikīkī condo had very old and unattractive dead bolt and knob handle. It was time, long overdue, for an upgrade. I was given the name of Affordable Locksmith and Sons by our building manager. I gave them a call........ Bruny answered the phone, and listened to my request. She was friendly, efficient, asking me to text her pictures of my current knob handle and deadbolt.
