I don't know much about cars or their mechanics, but I do know that getting my car fixed is usually a horrid, time consuming, bank account murdering experience. Affordable Muffler proved me wrong! I stopped in without an appointment in a huge rush--I mean, this place was packed. Regardless of all the people, I walked right up to the counter and this is what happened: "Hi!" "Hello--what kind of car is it?" "Oh... umm, a silver Corolla." "Great. What's your phone number? (I gave him my number) "I'll take your keys and give you a call" "Cool! Thanks!" Then I walked out not knowing when I'd hear from them, or when I'd get my car back. No explanations of what was wrong with my car was needed. Even with what looked like 25 people ahead of me, they called me within an hour or two with a diagnosis and a price. Plus, it was a price that was about $200 under what I thought it was going to be. About 2-3 hours later I received another call that my car was ready to be picked up, so I headed out and grabbed it. This all. I dropped off my car, had it diagnosed, fixed, paid for and home in less than 5-6 hours. Seriously. The staff is also much more talkative when you catch them without a ton of people in the waiting room, which is really nice. I love to hear about car stuff--mostly because I doubt I'll ever fully understand, but it's nice to feel like you know how some parts work. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend another place in Cleveland to get your exhaust, muffler or "Check Engine" light looked at. It's cheap, fast and awesome. Besides, you know a place is trustworthy and good when it's recommended to you by another auto repair shop--especially one that admits it would be much cheaper to go to Affordable Muffler. read more

Drove my car up there for exhaust work. They had no problem starting the car to get it in and on the lift. Magically after being on the lift, it won't start anymore so they won't do the work. Tried telling me some BS excuse like it must be the electrical to the fuel pump. My suspicion, someone placed it on the lift improperly and damaged a fuel line, fuel pump, or wiring in the process. Will update once my mechanic figures out why it won't start. read more

I chose to take my car here based on the ratings I saw, and I learned first hand why they are so positive. Honest service, fair pricing, and they made things right when it didn't go as planned due to a defective part that was not their fault. After the mixup, they even replaced a questionable O2 sensor as an added precaution, at no extra charge. My car runs silent again. It's great to know when you can trust automotive work - I'm so glad they are in my neighborhood and I will be recommending them to anyone who needs it. Chuck replaced an exhaust system on my 2006 Ford Focus.Wasn't a cheap fix but is was done right.

I called and explained to John that my truck was making an incredibly loud noise that ONLY happened when it was driving and that I thought it sounded like it might be the muffler but that I didnt know. John said bring it in and he would find out what the noise was. Instead of taking it for a test drive, even though I stated that it only made the noise while driving, John put it on the lift. After a visual examination he pointed at different parts of the exhaust and said the noise was coming from everything from the catalytic converter to the connection to the engine and that it would cost $750. Assuming they knew what they were doing I agreed to the fix. They took no time in swapping out the parts that were supposed to be causing the noise but when I picked it up the noise was still there. The owner of the shop, Pete, then took it for a test drive and discovered the actual noise problem, it was the shield that protects the gas tank rubbing against the rear universal joint, not the $750 dollar exhaust. Now I am out $750 and I still have to get the noise problem fixed. The least they could have done was refund the labor charge considering it was their mistake to begin with. They should have test drove the vehicle, and by not doing so it led to the visual misdiagnosis and a $750 waste of money for me, but a profit for them. There are similar incidents listed of them removing entire exhaust systems to overcharge the consumer. read more

Way overpriced. They put in a muffler in my car and charge me $300. The muffler at AutoZone was $79. They just put the muffler in no other pipes. It took them less than 45 minutes. That's $200 labor for less than an hour. Not reasonable at all in my opinion. read more

Broke my o2 sensors while fixing my exhaust. Cost me way more to fix the o2 sensors than the repair they did. I went to the shop with no check engine light and got in my car with it on. Called them and they scanned i. told me it was a ecm issue and that caused the o2 sensor code. The lied to me flat out and didn't want to take responsibility for their screw up. read more

Have been a Auto Mechanic for 30+ years. Didn't have time to work on my car. Told them exactly what my car had. Get a call back telling me is something else ok. When pick my car noticed same noise. Next Monday got to my shop and put my car on my lift and they change the resonator and the flex pipe that was the problem was completely destroyed and hanging under the car. First timer on that place and last time to. Won't send anybody from my way. Felt like a fool for thrusting them. read more

While repairing my car I broke the exhaust pipe and just needed it to be re-welded back. I took my car to affordable muffler for the repair. Keep in mind my exhaust is modified and I do most of the work on my car. Upon examining my exhaust the service tech asked the manager for a 2nd opinion. The manager suggested that my entire exhaust needed to be replaced from the catalytic converter on back lol. It DIDN'T. I know it didn't. I believe they saw that my car is modified and tried to UPSALE me a product I didn't need. They said I needed 2 new mufflers, which nothing was wrong with them and instead of offering me what was already in place which was 2 flowmaster mufflers they suggested a different brand which once again I didn't ask for or need. The price for all the work would've been $500+. I told them no. I ended taking my car to NORWOOD DISCOUNT muffler on the east side. They were able to do the necessary repair for $54!!! They fixed only what I needed and did not upsale me a product I know I didn't need. It's one thing to get money out of people who have no clue about cars but it's one thing when you try to get over on a person who knows. I'll never take my car or suggest anyone going there again. BEST place to go to in all of Cuyahoga Cnty and beyond! I've been using them for about 20 yrs and they've ALWAYS treated me right, FAIR and will explain, SHOW YOU what needs to be done! Since they have their own 'pipe bender' and don't have to order a pre-formed pipe for your vehicle, it saves YOU money. BEST exhaust place I know of! WORTH a trip even if you're outside of Cuy Cnty - east or west - as you'll make up the gas in the savings! I had to have most of my exhaust 'rebuilt' by them including a muffler and it was only $325 total (May 2020)! Go to another shop and you'd would pay TWICE that easily! Most exhaust jobs I overheard while I was there was around $150 - $200. UNHEARD of in today's market! Fast, friendly services! As I said, I've used them when I need exhaust repairs over the last 20 yrs. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! Oh and lifetime warranty on your muffler (SAVE your receipt) and 1 yr warranty on the rest. If you need your exhaust repaired there is no other place to go. All they do is exhaust which makes this place perfect. The price is always far. I have taken my last 3 vehicles here. It's first come first serve. If you can wait fine if not just leave it. They will call with price and let you know when done. I have 2 older cars, a 2004 Suzuki and a 2002 Honda that both needed mufflers. I searched online and found that Affordable Muffler had rave reviews. I drove 11 miles from the Eastside to take my Suzuki to Affordable Muffler. I arrived without notice at 11:30 am on a Wednesday and by 12:30 pm, for just $118, I was on my "quiet" way! I decided to drive all the way back home to get my other car to take it over. Arrived at 1:15 pm with my Honda and by 2:30 pm for $420, I was on my way with a second quiet car. The guys at Affordable Muffler tell you exactly what you need and nothing more. They tell you exactly what it will cost. They were efficient, professional and honest!! I'm not a handy man at all. God gave me the gift of art and hospitality. My exhaust system was running loud. When I looked under my car I noticed that the attachment thingies on my Y shaped pipe were rusty and loose. I took my car to the nearest big chain muffler/ brake place and they told me that they had to replace the whole Y shaped pipe and put all these new attachment things on as well as a bunch a mechanic language I was not familiar with. An hour later my quote was nearly $800 dollars. So, I went online and googled cheap mufflers. Affordable Mufflers came up in the search. I read reviews and was skeptical of taking my car in because of the sketchiness of the neighborhood that Affordable Muffler is is. At this point I knew I didn't want to pay too much because once I rack up 200k miles on my car I'm going to get a new one anyways. I figured a quote was a quote and it was my choice to get the damn thing fixed or get a quote elsewhere. The man at the counter was pretty brash but HONEST. He wasn't concerned with making you feel good. There is a sign at the front entrance that said "difficult customers will be charged extra". I sensed that his business was compromised on no gimmicks or bullshit. Get'em in get 'em out was my experience. He had his guys take a look at my car and about 20 minutes later he told me that it needed two flex pipes. I asked him about the Y pipe and he said it was fine. He quoted me 110$ had his guys put the pieces on in a few minutes and sent me on my way with a smooth and quiet exhaust. Thanks! Pros: fast service, affordable, and honest Cons: if you want to read Better Home and Gardens, Cosmo, Time, and all those fancy magazines bring your own. The lobby has no form of entertainment or squeaky clean bathroom but Hey why would that matter if Affordable Muffler is cheap and efficient. I called four different places and got four quotes that were twice as high as affordable muffler. They had my car completed on time (with in just a few hours) for half the price of other places. My father is a master tech at a Ford dealership and rather than repair my van at the dealership he told me to go here for a better price and faster service. I wouldn't recommend another place for muffler work. Just know they wont do anything else but mufflers. No air in the tires no oil change nothing just mufflers and exhausts. read more

How sad that I would be treated so poorly. There are multiple reviews indicating outstanding service while I was treated as though I was unwelcomed. My vehicle was towed to the location. I was told that I had to drive to the location to jump my own car because they would not do that. When I arrived they were extremely rude. I felt as though I was judged even before any service could be completed. they assumed that the car was not worth fixing and gave me an outrageous quote. I was more than willing to pay whatever it took to put a muffler on this vehicle, as it has been running perfectly for the past decade. They were horrible. I asked if they'd be willing to put air in the tire, they declined. I understand this is a place that replaces mufflers but I would think they'd have the fundamental equipment in a garage, instead I had five men telling me what they could NOT do. These guys were able to repair my muffler in about 24 hours and the price was competitive compared to the other shop I called. They seem like nice guys, and I think they did good work. The only downside is that they they are a long ways from most public transportation and don't offer shuttle service. It took 90 minutes and 3 buses to get back to my house, which I had to reverse the next day. So make sure you've got a friend able to drive you if you plan on some muffler work here. read more

I went to Affordable Muffler because my dad recommended it. Man was he right on the money! He told me they did great quality work for a reasonable price. Their shop is in Cleveland on Lorain road and IT WAS WORTH THE DRIVE FROM PAINESVILLE! I got there about 15 minutes before they opened on a Saturday. I ended up being 2nd in line when they opened up. They repaired a pipe leading to my muffler in a little less than an hour. They didn't try to oversell to get me to purchase more than what I needed to fix the problem. Brought my car to the dealership for a new exhaust. Dealer would have been required to replace entire exhaust at a cost of $2200. The dealer rep recommended we contact Affordable Muffler. We called, spoke with Tony, brought in the vehicle and within 45 minutes had a new system for less than $200. Been going there for years...I like the old owner...not sure his name but he was awesome...he said he had a near death experience and came out of it a different person. To me his attitude and respect for customers is the reason he had so many referrals.... I think things are changing slowly though......the new front desk guy seemed like he was pulling estimates out of thin air as I sat there.......one guy 100 bucks next guy 450 bucks...WARNING SAVE YOUR RECEIPT !!!!!!!!!!... I think the noise I had is the same place as last time i went there....(maybe..cant prove it ,no receipt)...the other dissapointment was the "guy talk" by the front desk guy....I overheard him speaking of a woman who came in as "Blondie" and some other "bar type talk" to a friend of his who was chatting with him at counter....I won't recommend my sister or daughter after hearing that guy talk (Must be a Trump supporter) the old owner would never have done that........any way..... I think I paid too much this time...for what he charged I should have got whole new system installed...."big picture" they still have good prices and are fast....downside...the very way cool old owner not there anymore and the new guy is slowly but surely destroying the wonderful customer base the old owner made......Ill prob go back ..but only after another estimate first...... read more

A few weeks ago I was experiencing a loud muffler due to hitting a bump in the road. Affordable Muffler was recommended to me by my brother-in-law. I walked in and was immediately waited on. I was told that there would be about a 10 minute wait until my car would be looked at. In less than 10 minutes I was told what would be needed to fix the muffler and was given a quote that was $100+ less than I thought I would have to spend. My muffler was loud and, on the recommendation of My husband, I found myself at Affordable Muffler! I had no appointment, just walked right in when they opened at 9 am. I'm glad I was there early- they get busy fast! I told them what was wrong and they took my car right back to a bay. They gave me a diagnosis and estimate and asked me if I wanted to proceed based on the price they quoted me. Seeing as everything stemming from the catalytic converter (nit the cat. itself, but everything else) needed to be replaced, their price of $195 (which included tax, parts and labor) seemed pretty fair and I had them go ahead and make the repair. I cannot explain how much quieter my car is now! I was in and out in an hour and a half with my car sounding brand new. I'm ecstatic with the results and would highly recommend this business to my friends. I never felt pressured into buying anything and I didn't feel like I was being taken advantage of.
