Went to Great Point Lighthouse via beach driving. A very fun day that we will remember fondly until the next time we visit the island. They were helpful with all the rules and restrictions and gave me instructions on how to comply since it was the first time I had used a Jeep Wrangler for beach driving. I have rented from Affordable twice now and have been nothing but satisfied and impressed. The team is friendly and knowledgeable. Recently I rented a Jeep Wrangler from them with the plan to explore some of Nantucket's famous OSV beaches. They gave me a simple explanation of where I should and shouldn't go and included plenty of information along with a map. An explanation of the Jeeps 4WD and soft top and I was well equipped. Just be sure to ask questions if you are confused about something. Their vehicles are brand new and in fantastic condition. I believe they replace them annually. The Jeep was unstoppable on the sand and fun around the island. Do note: Be sure to reserve FAR in advance. I recommend 2-3 mo in advance during peak season if you want a particular vehicle. Also understand car rental on Nantucket is expensive. You will pay a premium anywhere on the island(for everything), cars included. It is worth it to explore other areas like Siasconset, Bartlett Farm, and Great Point. read more

These guys dont give a rats ass about their customers. They charge userous rates for their jeeps and then they nickel and dime you unapologetically. They are part of the "old guard" on Nantucket and I think will go out of business or have to lower their prices. They wanted to charge me $250/ day for the same jeep i rented online for 160 renting from a local. they also told me when they brought the car out that I could get a late return without having to pay an extra fee, this was not true, the office guy didnt give doo doo about what his car kid said. Do yourselves a favor if you are in Nantucket and go to TURO website its like airbnb for car rentals. We saved $100 / day on a jeep reservation by going on TURO. read more

Rented a Jeep from here to take a look around the island and ride on the beach with. They were very helpful in telling us the ins and outs of getting onto the beach as well as the best place to see the sunset! The Jeep was very clean and had a soft top so you could ride with that off if you wanted too. The beach ride was fun and my kids enjoyed it. The rental process was very easy. We reserved a 4x4 for our vacation on Nantucket. I was astounded to learn it was 229.00 a day. We went with it and booked a jeep. Upon arrival I called as instructed and was told we had to walk over. I told them I had confirmed ferry pick up so they obliged. A lovely young man picked us up. Mom could NOT get into the jeep. There was no step so I had to hoist her in. The young man was not help so I was on my own. I got her in and upon arrival, my teen spied a Fiat 500 Convertible. They happily switched. The price was 199.00 per day so 213.00 with tax for a daily rental. The staff were great and so was the Fiat. We loved it so much I am trading my brand new 2012 Altima for one as soon as possible. we needed a short term car rental, as the auto ferries were all full. Lesson learned if you want to bring your own car over. Book very far in advance. But for this impromptu trip , we went with plan B. It is expensive to bring your own car on the ferry. But if you are there for a week or more, probably worth it. We only needed a car for 3 nights but big enough for us and our 3 children, 19, 20 and 26. I have never rented on Nantucket, so I went with the best offer, and with easy pick up close to the ferry. Note, this one does not charge you the "airport tax" , so that seemed like another bonus. Everyone on staff was friendly and efficient. We got a Durango with the OSV sticker, so we could explore all the way to Great Point Light. I was so happy just to be able to get a car, and not have to Uber everywhere. But we really enjoyed riding on the beach all the way out to the lighthouse. For anyone saying its too expensive, you have to remember where you are. Everything on Nantucket is more expensive. But it was great to have a car to get back and forth from our rental house, town, restaurants, Cisco Brewery, sights and shopping. What I really I need to say, is after I returned our vehicle I realized I lost my waller. After checking the returned rental, I called the restaurant we ate breakfast at. My wallet was safely there, but we only had 30 minutes until our ferry was leaving. The owner let me take a vehicle to pick up my wallet!! I would have certainly otherwise have missed my ferry. So thank you for really taking care of a frantic customer. read more

Zero stars for a good reason. This "business" is run by a bunch of rude, unprofessional low life's. We were booked to rent a jeep for the during day our stay in Nantucket for a friends wedding. When we arrived at the location we were asking questions regarding coverage as well as cleaning policy upon return and we were greeted with extreme hesitation from management. We were simply trying to understand their policies for rentals when the manager decided he did not want to rent to us due to our questions. When we were walking out the manager made a rude comment about us trying to rent from the bike store instead. I would not recommend a rental from this location and instead suggest Nantucket Windmill Auto Rentals who were kind, courteous and welcomed our questions with open arms. read more

The business was right next to where we were staying and they had the cheapest rental on premises, a Kia. not a fan, but who cars for $60/day! The staff at Affordable Rentals could not have been more rude, unfriendly, or inhospitable. From the woman that we rented the mopeds from to the guy that set up the mopeds and the man who was taking them when we returned them - everyone was so incredibly unfriendly and miserable. On top of that the mopeds you see on their website are NOT what they rent - I got a moped with almost 6,000 miles on it - no storage - old. When I asked why i was getting a moped that looked like they should be charging $39 instead of $99 for he told me 'the others go too fast.' Never showed us how to use the kick stand (both of which stuck and were hard to use). Maps are $5 and they had no suggestions on where to go and how to avoid cobblestones. HORRIBLE customer service and attitude. Never understand why people in a business like this on an island like Nantucket in the middle of the summer are so rude - why go into the industry. Go to Nantucket Bike Rentals right down the street instead. We parked our mopeds outside their shop to eat at Steamboat and they were so friendly - helped us with the bungee cord (storage), kick stand, and parking. read more

I am very happy with my experience here! We were on Nantucket for the first time on Easter...like a dummy I forgot that Sunday was Easter so I didn't reserve a car on Saturday. Of course, everyone (or so I thought) was closed and unavailable on Easter. But, lo and behold I called Affordable Rentals and they answered...they were open yay!!! The guy was so friendly on the phone and also when we showed up. Still can't believe I paid $75 to drive a Kia for one day, but I was so happy to have a car and not miss out on seeing the island before we left that it was worth it. I have rented a SUV from Affordable rentals he last two times I was in Nantucket for the day. The first time was in 2012. My family loves being able to visit a couple of beaches during the day and to take the SUV on the sand. Our Dodge SUV looked new (9,000 miles) and Affordable washed it prior to us leaving. While I was there three other people asked about availabilitiy and were disappointed that no more vechicles available to be leased. We walked by Affordable Rentals and stopped in to find out prices - we were extremely satisfied with the service and additional items that we could rent as well (beach chairs & coolers!) We were able to rent a Jeep to drive on the beach, with chairs & a cooler for lunch, and it cost a lot less than bringing our own car over!
