Got the wrong permit twice . Had to get someone else to finish the job and get the right permit twice. This guy tries to get a retroactive permit for new construction on an old building. The building needed a conservation permit which he never obtained. The city of Chicago says he is a crook trying to take advantage of people. It is a total nightmare. We hired them for a tuckpointing job for our Bluestone porch and stairs. We had the work done in July 2019. By February 2020, the new mortar was falling out, and the tiles were coming loose. Despite a three year guarantee, they refused to fix it. They claimed that it was damage from salt we put down over the winter. This is possible, but unlikely, as we only got a little salt on the tiles a couple of times over the whole winter when salting the nearby sidewalk. read more

All in all this company did great tuckpointing and chimney crown work, they were clear in their communication and pricing was clear and very fair. I took quotes from a few companies and Affordable Tuckpointing was the lowest and I had the best interaction with the guy who came to quote out the work. The quote was somewhat vague in that they would grind and tuckpoint "all severely damaged" spots on my home and chimney. Maybe this was more on me in that I didn't call out or mark with chalk all areas I specifically wanted them to do. But in the end they did all areas I would have even considered needing to be done, plus additional work. I would recommend ATPros to anyone for any concrete, brick, or chimney work. read more

the workers did a fine job of lintel replacement and tuck pointing. The estimate guy over estimated me by charging for an extra window, which wasn't even a window. When I contacted them they sent me small refund, but I feel like I was ripped off. I never received an estimate for the actual work done! That is shady business. And I had to contact them about returning to clean the residue off my house. I am in Westchester il 60154 Although the workers did a fine job and worked hard, the estimator seemed pretty shady. Usually people (myself included) write reviews when things are bad. I wanted to write a review because Affordable Tuckpointing went above and beyond. My tuckpointing looks great. Additionally I had a chimney cap put on. While up there one of the guys caulked a crack on the chimney crown. This may not seem like a big deal but another company wanted to charge me for the chimney cap and to caulk the crack whereas the crew at Affordable Tuckpointing just did it since they were already up there and it wasn't much work. So, this was the 4th contractor to come out and give me an estimate for some chimney repair. I was looking forward to Affordable since they were recommended in our local service booklet. That was on Thursday, today is Monday and still no quote. Like one other company that came out they didnt even go up on the roof to inspect the chimney...how can you give a fair assessment without inspecting up close? I chose to go with Affordable Tuckpointing Pros for the following reasons: they seemed to be the most knowledgeable, they certainly were among the most affordable, and they gave me the impression that they wanted the job more than anyone else. Knowledge - Of all the companies that came to look at my home, Affordable Tuckpointing Pros was the only one that addressed the fact that my chimney was not properly lined. Actually, it was the ATP estimator that alerted me that my home had this problem; estimators from other companies never mentioned it. When I asked others about the issue, I was told, "Sorry, we don't do that chimney liners." My modest brick ranch was built in 1947 and has had little work done to it over the years. The chimney was as it was originally constructed and was open to the elements. Because of this, my chimney was slowly deteriorating on the inside. ATP installed the proper size stainless steel chimney liner. The draw of the gases from my gas furnace and hot water heater is now much stronger. Rain and snow are no longer coming in. And, during the winter, the warm vented air will no longer be condensing inside my chimney and causing unwanted moisture inside my chimney. Affordability - Yes, they live up to their name. I got six written quotes and the range was surprisingly wide; ATP's price fell in middle of the range. When I took into consideration their knowledge about the chimney flue issue, I viewed ATP's price as a bargain. I learned long ago to beware of low-ball prices, but I've also learned that paying a higher price doesn't necessarily mean you'll be getting better or more. Customer Satisfaction - Unfortunately, a week or so later, upon closer examination, I spotted a few joints that I felt weren't done properly. The spots in question were minor and cosmetic. I made one call and ATP responded quickly and corrected those minor problems to my complete satisfaction. Don't take the word of a stranger on the internet. Call around and get a bunch or quotes. But, do yourself a favor and call Affordable Tuckpointing Pros first. My chimney needed to be rebuilt from the roof liner up. It was basically cracked in half and letting water in. Chris came out gave me an estimate. Had 3 different estimates and they all ranged from $250-$750. Went with ATP even though it was has the highest. The cheaper guys were basically going to caulk the cracks and replace any bricks that were cracked. Chris gave me more of a professional estimate and backed it up with a warranty for a complete rebuild. Even though I thought it was a little high priced for rebuilding 4 feet of chimney, the other guys did not back their work up with any warranty so this gave me a piece of mind. Plus, every company was backed up with work and couldn't get it done for 3-4 weeks out as well as ATP. I offered to pay cash and he had people out on Sunday, 3 days after the estimate. read more

Very unprofessional company. I called for a quote during business hours and no one answered, so I left a message. No one called me back. I waited a week or so then tried again. This time a rude female answered. I asked if they had gotten my message and why no one had called me back, she didn't seem to care that no one had called me back and avoided answering the question of whether or not she got the message. I asked to have someone come out and give us an estimate and she said they'd have to call me back. Not surprisingly, I never received a call back. Another fly-by-night company it seems. I found them through this free guide that came to our house without us requesting it that seemed to be a good way to find services but it looks like it's just another scam we need to avoid.
