Was traveling and visited from out of state. Plenty of space and nice staff. Menu was interesting, surprisingly no combination kabobs option, you omly get to pick a single platter option. What was nice was that they had a ground chicken or beef option which isnt available in my area (fremont, Ca) for afghan restaurants. The seasoned rice was ok, could have been better. Located in a strip mall with parking. The interior was surprisingly tastefully decorated. The food was fantastic! We had a lamb shank that was very tender. It was served with delicious rice with carrots and raisins and also a small portion of bean soup and salad. We might just order the rice next time since we prefer a more vegetable heavy meal. The meat dumplings were delicious. We had 2 boranis also--an eggplant dip sort of like baba and a pumpkin dip. Both were served with a large piece of fresh naan bread. We finished with "dessert". When we asked what it was the server said "milk, sugar and other stuff". It was sort of like a cross between kheer and panna cotta. FYI the water is plastic water bottles on the table at room temperature. We chose to use our own ice water in our stainless steel bottle. Our chai came toward the end of the meal. The only weakness was the service. The server was nice but inattentive. There was a language barrier and he was also helping in the kitchen. He did provide anything we asked for on request. But I don't know what the experience would have been if we were not the only people in the restaurant at the time. The food here was very good. Would absolutely recommend. This was something I'd never personally had and something I'd never order, but at the recommendation of my friend I tried the qabili uzbeki which is a lamb shank with a very nicely cooked rice. I believe the emphasis should be on the rice, it's a rice dish with lamb shank, but when you get the dish the lamb shank is very visible and difficult for me to wrap my head around. I normally go the vegetarian route because seeing meat served in this way gets a bit of a visceral reaction from me, but nonetheless the meat was really good. The rice was also very good, the texture was great and the carrot and raisins added great flavor contrast to the taste of the rice and lamb meat. It was a very good meal that I would definitely try again. It was served with beans and a salad that were also enjoyable. The sauces at the table were also good although I couldn't exactly get a flavor profile from them. One was citrusy with a sort of sumac like taste, but the mixture was green so I wasn't sure what it was and a red one that was slightly sweet and tangy, maybe a pepper sauce? But it wasn't spicy. In either case those added some great flavor too. The meat was nice and tender. Fell off the bone with little effort. We also ordered pakaura which were at least from the look, thin slices of potato, battered and fried. I will say, that the oil may not have been hot enough when cooked, as they did seem to be quite oily and not entirely crisp, the filling was cooked thoroughly though and the flavor was good and it was served with a lot of cilantro which I love so perfect match. Service seems to be a talking point in many of the reviews posted, but I think it all moves at a comfortable pace. We got there around 1pm there were several patrons. We sat, we ordered, we ate, we chatted. Many people came in, many people left, and it looked like there were several to go orders. So to me it looks like speed of service is not an issue unless maybe the there's sometimes a larger influx of orders or customers, which can happen anywhere. Sit down, chat a bit, enjoy the music. Ambience wise, I won't say this is a restaurant you're going to for vibes or photos, but if you want good food and friendly service then you can put the phone down for a while and enjoy. The people working did seem very nice. Price point, for the food quality and volume I think was very fair. For 2 entrees and an app, for just under 60 dollars (including tip) I think is absolutely reasonable given prices in the surrounding area. Came here for dinner tonight. This was our first time trying afghan food. Server was very nice and helpful and ensured everything wasn't spicy/kid friendly. Quirt inside, for the most part it was our table and another. We tried the potato appetizer - which was surprisingly delicious. A little greasy and didn't need any extra sauce to enjoy. Entrees we had the lamb shank and unfortunately they were out of the chicken curry so we had the afghan bees kofta instead. Lamb shank was probably the best lamb I've ever had. Very tender and fall off the bone. Beef kofta was more filling than anticipated. There were 4 pieces but it was hearty stewed with tomatoes and lentils. Wow- hands down one of the best meals I've had in a long time. The flavors were incredible -- the kabobs were juicy, the Qabuli-pulao was so fragrant and tasty, and the other items like the chicken shami koobideh kebabs were out of this world. Definitely do not recommend! I came here with two kids and spouse and the food took forever. It made me feel a type of way because when people who came in after us ordered their food came out fast. My son wasn't even offered any water. I will say my families food took about 45-50 minutes for two dishes and the other tables ordered and got their food within 10 minutes. My beef was super chewy and I felt like my teeth was going to fall off from attempting to bite it. I can probably bounce it off the walls. The rice was good no complaints there. So disappointing the lamb looked so good in everyone else's photo but when my husband got his it was like 3 pieces with no meat on it. This place is absolutely amazing - I *love* this place and always get the lamb. I should probably mention that I'm 12 years old and have a 7-year-old sister, too. The place has a pretty chill feel, and the waiters are super friendly. The food might take a bit to make, but is one hundred percent worth the wait. Seasoned perfectly and sliding off the bone. The rice was great quality and the mantoo was so flavorful. Price: a little on the higher end but so worth it. Portion size: the Qabili Uzbeki especially was huge. My partner and I shared the two dishes and were stuffed. This place serves the best Afghan food. Out of all the ones I have tried, this one is sure the best. We tried their Chicken Kabobs - this dish is served with rice, some salad and a tangy tasting sauce (so good) AND THESE ARE THE BEST CHICKEN KABOBS EVER! The spice level is just right, not blend not too hot. The taste is so authentic and just like home made (actually better than home made haha) 12/10 We also tried their Chicken Leg-Quarter. The taste is pretty similar to Chicken Kabob's dish- so you already know, gotta be great. Medium spice level, cooked well, served with delicious tasting rice, salad and sauce. 10/10!!!
