Chicken and Lamb Plate
Noemi Q.

So, my bad for not realizing that eating here would be a scorcher, oOoOoOweeee~ Ate here with a work group and their menu def is on the pricier side and only take cash. Wished all that extra funds went to the A/C~ Anywho, basic menu, but I opted for the chicken and lamb plate with extra spice... ended up being $23... errpppp. The biggest thing that was the talk of the table was the front guy giving a lot of attitude and rushing everyone to order. Def no customer service and no tip given... maybe that's why the food ins expensive? Don't get me wrong, the food and the flavors were great! I'd def take my food to go, though. Dude was a total tool for no reason, maybe trauma? Man, I'm feisty today. All in all, order to go, does take a hot minute, LITERALLY, for your food to come out. Meh customer service, on the pricier side, and no A/C.... But! The prep and presentation of the food gives this place a 3 in my book! Cheers

Gyro Combo Platter

Their Gyro Combo was amazing. Spices were bright, rice was perfectly cooked. The hot sauce is flavorful and hot! Friendly and welcoming staff. Will be back during my NJ stay. Thank you!

This place is AMAZING. The chicken was delicious, moist, great seasoning. If you're in the area, you MUST come here!

You wouldn't know from its "hole in the wall" appearance, but this is one of the best restaurants in the area. Food is always delicious and service is always friendly.

This place is amazing I am so glad that I didn't judge a book by its cover. I landed on the kebab and I asked for purple cabbage and it tasted great. I have spent some time in Germany so I know a good kebab when I taste one and please believe that I will be back! , I ate lunch at around 12 PM and as I am writing this review I am still full I finished all of my kebab and most of my french fries. I want to go back and get a another, yes I'm actually sitting here debating with myself if I will actually do such a thing:( and worry Decisions decisions. I thought the meat was cooked perfectly! The owner talked to us and even gave us free drinks because we were cute! He was super funny I will definitely be back then next time I head to Fort Dix!

Amazing grilled lamb w/ rice and salad (he threw in some chicken on top "on the house")...awesome!

Wow - solid 5/5 stars. A true, completely random, awesome "diamond in the rough" restaurant in this this small quirky town. A small business owner, very simple menu, amazing food, perfectly seasoned and cooked meats, fresh ingredients, simple atmosphere/seating, paper and plastic everything, and cash only. This is what I love about eating and reviewing food - discovering places like this where you get to taste a chef's talent and passion for what he does in the kitchen. Grilled lamb, chicken and rice/salad were awesome. Complimentary chickpeas and bread were, too. So much food I seriously couldn't even finish it all. With soft drink from the fridge the total came to $9 cash ... which I gladly paid. Bravo to Afghan Kabob for the wonderful meal - please keep it up and can't wait to return!!

Wait time was 35 plus minutes, but there's only two working the kitchen (one who works the counter) so I recommend to call ahead! The lamb was tender, fresh and juicy, but could've stood to be seasoned, they had salt packets under the counter, personally liked the music choice and it appear to alienate the other less cultured patrons. All in all, I would give it a try, you'd probably love it.

I did not expect to eat the most delicious falafel gyro here. But it happened. It was phenomenal. This no frills joint gets 5 stars!

We saw…read morea sign describing the food as "Afghan-French fusion with a Persian accent" and figured we'd give it a shot. It was the best decision of the night. The whole vibe was great and the meals were absolutely incredible. Since neither of us had been there before, Patty made some phenomenal suggestions, and somehow anticipated everything we needed before we even asked. She was a gem, and so patient and knowledgeable about everything in the menu. (Appetizer) Bolani: You have to get this. It's this crispy, golden fried dough filled with seasoned potatoes and herbs. It comes with a jalapeño chutney that is SO flavorful. Honestly, the menu description doesn't even do it justice, it's delicious. (Entree) Kabul Alfredo: I went with this for my main. It's basically the best of both worlds, its a linguine with garlic, creamy Alfredo, amd shaved parm, but topped with Afghan chicken kabob. The chicken was so tender and perfectly seasoned. I am SO glad we found Setaara, we'd originally tried to grab a quick burger at a hotel restaurant after a work event, but we were completely ignored there, so we just walked out and walked down the street looking for something open. The whole vibe was great, and our meals were absolutely incredible. I'll definitely be back!!!

We went for their brunch on a Sunday afternoon. Disclaimer they do not serve any main course items for lunch hours too. The ambiance was beautiful and picturesque. The staff was super sweet. We ordered bolani which was ok ish but the chutney was delicious, chole puri - chole were delicious and puri was crispy but yum, the third thing we ordered was an omelette that tasted yum too. They even served fresh juice. We had pomegranate and orange juice. The ambiance was so good and birds were chirping and it felt like we were sitting in a courtyard of someone's home.

This was a small location that served authentic Afghan cuisine. The menu had a number of…read moreintriguing options with reasonable prices. The service was friendly, and the food came out extremely quickly. I felt we were being rushed just a tad, but not a huge deal. For appetizers, the falafel ($7?), Mantu ($8?), and bholani cadu ($6?) were ordered. Regarding the falafel, there were five to an order. The falafel was very crispy and had decent flavor. I thought they needed a little more seasoning present. The Mantu were Afghan style dumplings filled with ground beef, onions, and seasonings. It was garnished with homemade mint yogurt and lentil sauce. This was light and soft with tons of flavor. The dumplings were filled appropriately, and the lentil sauce was a pleasant addition. The bholani cadu was a thin fried pastry filled with butternut squash and seasoned with fresh herbs and spices. This was interesting. The wonton was very crispy. The squash filling was sweeter than I thought, but still tasty. I also might add all of the three sauces provided at the tables were good, with the cilantro one being my favorite (cilantro I believe anyway). For my entrée, I had the lamb shank ($38?). It came with a soup, salad, a choice of rice, and naan. The soup appeared to be a lentil soup. It came out hot and was very pleasant. The salad consisted of tomatoes, onions, and cucumbers. It was prepared nicely as all the pieces were small and a good size portion. The simple dressing was great too. The lamb shank came with a few vegetables. The lamb was extremely tender, but not much meat was on the bone. There needed to be a little more seasoning too as it was lacking. I am just glad the lamb was so tender. I went with the Kabuli rice which had steamed carrots and raisins on top. This was fluffy and flavorful with a ton of it. The naan was okay, a little too crispy. I also tried the lamb chops. They had an unreal cook on them and seasoned well. I also tried the zamarud rice, which was good too. For dessert, the rice pudding ($8?) was ordered. It was creamy and filling. The nice crunch from the pistachios on top was a good addition. Will I go back? I would, yes.

First of all, it's a family run business and they take pride in their food, restaurant and hospitality. My husband went to school at Drexel and has been coming to this restaurant (here and a different location) for a long time. The place is beautifully decorated and made you feel like you were eating in a restaurant in Afghanistan. Everyone is so warm and friendly. They're great representatives for their country, culture and food. We started with hummus which was creamy goodness and an amazing salad with the best dressing. My husband absolutely loved his Qurma Chalaw. The chicken, sauce and buttery rice were so flavorful! Absolutely loved my dumplings in a tasty red sauce. They were delectable and I'm still dreaming about them. Our friends loved their Sansom Kabob and said it was moist and flavorful. Next time we visit, we'll definitely be back and recommend it to anyone we know who visits.

The staff was friendly and very prompt; the space was well curated and clean. We had the Ashak appetizer - yummy! We did thoroughly enjoy the bread that comes with the meal and my man LOVED the chutney - such a zesty lil kick to it! We split Chablee Kabob and Qurma Chalaw (chicken) - both were so flavorful. I particularly loved the Chablee, but the Qurma was very clearly made with love and reminiscent of a homemade comfort dish. We split the Finri for dessert - the perfect ending to a flavor-rich meal. Highly recommend.

This is an update to a prior review. This has been one of our favorite restaurants in the area but…read moreour last visit fell short. We ordered the family platter and a hummus to go. We were told it would take 30-35 minutes, which is fine for cooked to order food. It really wasn't very busy, but the order took 50 minutes. The order was sitting on their counter ready to go, but it appeared they were backed up with making the bread. Once the bread came out, they bagged it up and we were ready to go. They almost forgot to give us the side salad, but they remembered before we left. Now for the food... - The bread that we waited for- was doughy and undercooked. It had burnt pieces stuck to it and they were not shaped as nicely as their usual bread. - The hummus side that we ordered, which was almost $8, was a half filled half pint container (very small amount) of what appeared more like a sauce rather than the thick hummus we are accustomed t. I wouldn't order this again. - The salad was watery...they need to drain the water better - The rice was cold - I think it was sitting out too long - Now for the main event - the meats - we enjoyed the flavor. This saved our dinner, we did enjoy the meats. We called them about the bread and they were apologetic, and told us we can stop by for bread next time we are there. As this is one of my favorite restaurants, I want to give them an opportunity to do better next time! The afghan bread and their rice have alway been my favorite part of their meals! I think it was an off night for them, I'd definitely give them a chance again in the future.
