Very, very, very surprised only because I remember what the scenario was like with the previous owner, but it's day and night not that there was anything wrong with the previous owners. We start off with an appetizer of chicken Samosa and not anything like an Indian Samosa a little bit different and very tasty not greasy, a nice crunch. My wife had the lamb Gyro platter that came with a plate of their rice with carrots and raisins, and a side dish and pita bread and I had the lamb shank platter. The meat on the lamb shank was to die, for it melted right off the bone. It was perfectly cooked. Tenders can be soft as can be tasty as can be a nice shoe of pink on the inside and the sauce that it was in we were dipping the pita bread in it, as well as some of the pieces for my wife's platter, which was also extremely tender very unexpected. Overall, it definitely rings bells for us as another food group that now we have a regular place to go. read more

Such a delicious place to get chicken tikka, lamb tikka and beef kofta among other things. The rice with carrots and raisins is delicious. The lentil soup is spicy and blended smooth. Service is warm and inviting. Jawad and owner Muhammed are lovely. And the hot tea with milk is a perfect ending to a delicious meal. They have table service and a big takeout business as well. Ordered Instacart delivery for chicken Schwarma and they gave me 3 or 4 pieces of chicken about the size of a small chicken nugget for $20 I thought was too much . Well, when they used to do delivery to our area, in Lawrenceville, (like my favorite British writer's name, D.H.)---it was refreshing to have such yummy but exotic and comfy dishes that I had remembered from Houston where a few good Afghan restaurants have been popular among its diverse communities. But, suddenly, they couldn't deliver on the regular phone request deliveries --and that got me sad--because I had begun to enjoy their variety of flavors. After more than a dozen subsequent visits I felt a update was in order. AKG became my go to Kabab place soon after I wrote the first review. With food being about equal at both of my area choices, it was kind and thoughtful hospitality( ie customer service) that had me coming back. But the food also kept improving and I kept trying more. Others have mentioned but I will repeat, their cheesesteak is very good and unique. Though it is not traditional philly style, I've had it a few times and am intrigued by its spicy thick and very tender beef. That brings me to today's Covid visit, I selected the combo platter that has beef and chicken tikka, both very good but the beef stole the show. I've had the lamb before and you can't go wrong with any. There have been more specials on the menu but I didn't feel like taking a photo of the menu board. I do have in mind to try the chicken curry on my next visit. I'm in agreement with Jerry about the, shall we say, basic rice. But I have good news to report, in lieu of the side salad that comes with the entrees, you can substitute chickpeas. These are a slow simmered bean in a light oily sauce. Scoop some beans out, mix with rice and now we have something. Of course tweaking further with white or green sauces is also encouraged. read more

First, the worker who took my order was super polite, with an excellent time prediction on when my order would be ready (I was behind a couple of other orders). It's always nice when people tell you the correct time to pick up your food! I ended up getting a combination platter (chicken tikka and kofta) with some chickpeas on the side (as a substitute for the standard salad, I think). The chicken kofta and rice were delicious, so big thumbs up for those, but I wasn't a huge fan of the chickpeas, and the chicken tikka was OK but not quite as good as the kofta. We were in the area to see a movie at AMC Hamilton but we had about an hour to kill. So, we decided to grab a bite nearby. We saw the solid reviews for Aryana, as well as the enticing food photos, so we decided to drive over and check it out. The place is a bit on the nondescript side, but don't let that throw you. These guys are making some great kabobs! I went with the chicken tikka and kofta kabob combo and my wife got the beef kofta kabob. Both dishes came with sides of Persian style rice and I got a side of their chik peas. We also got a simple salad and fresh pita. Everything was served super fast. Within 10 minutes we had food on the table. Great! I really loved my meal. The kabob was hot, fresh and juicy and seasoned perfectly. The rice was really good too! The chik peas were so flavorful and buttery I couldn't believe it. I was not expecting greatness from a side, but it was seriously great. If I have any criticism about the meal it's that the side salad was way too basic. The pricing at Aryana is very reasonable. Dinner for 2 was well under $25 and the portions were quite big. Can't beat that. Considering the quality, value and quick service, we left very happy with our experience. They really did a great job all around. read more
