Back for more perfect coffee before I hit the road!
Karla M.

My last Aftershock fix got a long time. Live in North Pole, moving to Oregon. I had to make sure to have Aftershock coffee every day this last Anchorage visit! NEVER DISAPPOINTED.

Ordered a Strawberry Redbull Smoothie, got un-Blended Ice, not a Smoothie.

I visited this location on two different visits. Once I visited with my daughter and we went inside. Another time I visited alone and used the drive-through. On both occasions the staff were friendly and helpful. On my first visit I was feeling a little under the weather and the barista offered me a wonderful spicy drink called "the cure." I can't say for sure if it was the drink or the wonderful way we were treated but I feel much better by the end of the day. Later when I returned, I ordered another serving of "the cure." It was wonderful and so was my experience. When I ordered "the cure" the second time I wasn't sure if I had previously ordered it with milk or water, I was relieved when the barista offered me an opportunity to taste the drink to see if I liked the drink before asking me to pay. -Turned out it was perfect. I ordered a 16 ounce "the cure" with three scoops. I learned In the future I am able to buy their "cure mix" which they sell separately by the can. When I was inside on my first visit I enjoyed a quiet environment in a tiny comfy chair and sat alongside my daughter for a chat. I observed many friendly customers who apparently must've been regulars because they all spoke to the barista and then to each other happily as they ordered their drinks. Parking is tight. The drive through is nice

The drinks we got this morning were really good! The girls working were so sweet too! I would highly recommend this place! Drink pictured: iced mocha

Coffee menu

Coffee and service (smile and attempt at accuracy) were excellent. Only one barrister though, so be prepared to wait, and wait some more. There is food on the menu but I can't think this would be a place to stop for food. We were here at 4pm, so maybe am is faster.

If you want to be wake up with a cup of delicious warmth and kindness this is the place to go. Some of the best coffee I've ever had and the staff was super helpful and accommodating. Would highly recommend driving through. Super quick and convenient!

Outside

This place was awesome, love the style of the menu and the coffee was good. They have so many options of cold and hot drinks and really unique drinks also. The barista was really nice too, great start to morning:)

At the moment they don't have any salt water tarfy. They guy who must be the owner or someone told us a story about how they can't get the syrup or rather the buckets to store it in. So no salt water taffy for the past two years but he said they would bring it back in the future. We ended up getting dill pickle pretzels(I didnt like them, they tasted nothing of pickles) and a pack of popcorn in the $5 bin. It was in the $5 bin because sometimes the little square food saver thing doesn't work and it doesn't seel the package. The popcorn tasted fine tho. They had some flavors I would have liked to try like everything bagel but I don't know if they do samples. The other portion of their place is where they make the products, lots of popcorn popping. You can also find their items at waffles and what not down the road and I've also seen them at Walmart in the Alaska section.

Forgot to take more pictures but I'll definitely be back for more. Their taffy is alao advertised as glacier water taffy; not sure if that makes it special but it sounds cool! $6 per bag, taffy or popcorn. I think they make kettle corn fresh in the mornings as well

Review of New Sagaya City Market - Anchorage, Alaska…read more Five weeks ago, I moved from San Francisco to Anchorage, settling near the downtown area. One of my first missions was to find a coffee spot that felt like home--a place with not just great coffee, but genuine people behind the counter. After trying a handful of cafes, a neighbor suggested New Sagaya City Market, just two blocks from my house. What a win. The market itself offers high-end, quality products. Yes, prices are a bit higher than what you'd find at Walmart or Target, but coming from San Francisco, I was prepared for that. What truly sets this place apart, though, isn't just the products--it's the people. From the very beginning, the baristas here have shown me the most consistent and heartfelt customer service I've experienced since moving to Anchorage. They don't just serve coffee; they connect with you, listen to your stories, and make you feel like part of the community. Today was a perfect example. I slipped in the parking lot (rookie mistake--no spikes on my shoes for the icy ground). After two kind gentlemen helped me up, I walked inside with my spilled coffee. Annie, a new barista I hadn't met before, immediately offered me a fresh cup with such kindness and care. That small gesture meant so much--it wasn't just about the coffee, it was about feeling seen and supported. I also want to shout out Monica and Shea, who I met when I first arrived five weeks ago. They've been consistently amazing--funny, charming, and genuinely interested in conversations about life, community, and even my adventures back in San Francisco. Every time I come in, I leave feeling lighter, happier, and more connected. Thank you, Annie, Monica, and Shea, for making New Sagaya City Market my go-to coffee spot. You've given me more than great coffee--you've given me a sense of belonging in a new city. --- Would you like me to make this version short and punchy for Google/Yelp reviews, or keep it longer and more storytelling-focused for something like a blog or social post?

While the store is pricey, it is worth a visit for the items you can't get anywhere else and excellent customer service. I recommend trying the pre-seasoned ahi tuna, my personal favorite for at home meals.
