I was passing through and needed a late lunch and a drink after a long day. I found this place and it was perfect! Montana Maddie was amazing! She had my lunch out quick and my drink was strong! If I lived closer this would be my place! Thank you Maddie!

    Customer service at is worst

Food was inedible. Order delivery @ 1107 pm which should have arrived at 12 but actually arrived at 105 am. Ordered shrimp in both meals. So cold it felt like refrigerated and received this rude response. May have been better for them to not reply........

The food was excellent. Service was great. We couldn't decide on which flavor cookie skillet so they did a 1/2 and 1/2 for us.

Afton has been making a comeback. Back in the day Afton was THE spot to eat and see everyone you knew in town. It slipped a bit when the owners were opening other restaurants and the business was left a bit unattended. But we recently have come back and have not been disappointed with the service or the food. Im so happy to see it's back to being in our rotation. I will however, warn anyone with sensory issues, they use some kind of cleaner on their tables that the inside restaurant smells extremely strong of this cleaner. But they do have a large patio seating area which is smell free.

I enjoyed my visit to Afton Tavern. We went during lunch time, had no problem with parking, and we were sat pretty quickly. The restaurant is pretty big. The outdoor patio has lots of seating, fans, and a fireplace. The bar area was a nice size with a few high top tables. The dining room was pretty big as well, with a rather large private area. I also appreciate the mix of booths and traditional tables. The menu has a good variety of dishes. I tried the Balsamic Glazed chicken with Sweet Potato Fries and broccoli. I greatly underestimated how many mushrooms and onions would be included. Nonetheless, I liked the chicken. The fries were my favorite though. Our waitress was fine. Not memorably friendly or anything, but nice and the service was fast. Final note, this is a family friendly restaurant. They have the basic kids menu items.

Cozy little pub. The area is nice and I love the fireplace outside! Inside has a lot of seating! Our server was very nice. I ordered the cosmo and it was ok. It was good for the price but nothing special. For my meal, I got the steak philly with fries. The fries were really good and crunchy! The cheese steak was a little bland. I wish it had more spices and seasonings or a stronger cheese on top. The cookie skillet was really good!! I loved the warm and gooey cookies with the ice cream on top! Overall, the food was ok but I would come back for the cookie skillet!

    Shrimp Kabobs - excellent!

Ordered wings and they were very bad. Overcooked and not flavor. The ranch was extremely watered down and the mens room was disgusting.

That had me but at 105° it was too hot. So, we got the cute fisherman's isle seats in the back. She's 5' so bar height seats are uncomfortable and akwars for her. I wasn't a fan of the layout. I think they wasted space. We tried their char-grilled Oysters, grilled crab cake, and she had several if the Oysters; Tripple D, Pink Moon and Bay Breeze being her favorite. The house Oysters were not. I tried the char and they're good. Decent profile but they're cooked so it make sense. Not New Orleans style char but good flavor. The crab cake was delicious. For the price it was huge. I was very impressed as I loved the flavor and texture. It has a lot of filler but the seasoning took me out, in a good way. Now, they provide a yummy German potato salad that I thought was really good. Its warmed up seasoned chunky potato with no flair. The coleslaw was trash though. It looks beautifully seasoned but its a vinegar based and lacks the creamy flavor depth you're used too. They do change the menu frequently. I got a chance to see a few others plates and was very impressed. There are a few other items I would love to try, Specifically the pasta! Our waitress wasn't the best but the shucker and bus boy were both great. Very friendly and energetic. Definitely not an upscale establishment as jeans and a tee are perfect. I would definitely come back!

Crack of Dawn is my favorite brunch spot in all of Concord, and this visit reminded me exactly why!…read more A family business spanning generations, Black-owned and woman-owned? You already know Auntie D loves putting her dollars behind the sisters. But let's be clear: the food earns every bit of this praise. I have yet to leave disappointed. My chicken-fried chicken and French toast were absolutely worth the drive. My daughter had pancakes and chicken-fried chicken, and those scrambled eggs? Light, fluffy, and deserving of their own little round of applause. Mama thoroughly enjoyed her lunch and brought leftovers home. Took a quick nap, woke up, and finished them off. That to-go box never stood a chance. ...i Crack myself up.  Now, let's discuss these FRIED PICKLES. Light, crispy, airy, with that just-right dill tang. You get a good pickle inside a lovely crisp coating. And the ranch! Full of fresh, herbaceous flavor and on the thinner side, which I actually enjoy--it works beautifully on the salad and with those pickles. I don't need my ranch standing at attention; I need it tasting good! Crack of Dawn keeps giving me a reason to make that drive. Good food, a family business I'm happy to support, and three generations at our table leaving satisfied. Five out of five fried pickles from Auntie D! C'est si bon!

A must stop for both dinner and Southern breakfast enthusiasts…read more On my way home from Charlotte, I used Yelp to find me a classic diner to start my day off right. I choose the Crack of Dawn Diner in Concord. I am so glad I did. Crack of Dawn Diner is the real thing--a local Concord breakfast-and-lunch spot serving traditional Southern fare at reasonable prices. The menu caters to local tastes, the dining room is filled with regulars, and the atmosphere is comfortable rather than trendy. Parking is somewhat limited. The private lot surrounding the restaurant was fully used so I parked in the lot next door that had signs that said private property, but it looked like other patrons were parking there also so I took the chance. As it turns out, it was safe to park there. The entrance is very welcoming, as well as the staff. Amanda was my very efficient and nice waitress. There is great teamwork here, and Amanda was well supported by, I believe, the owner who ran my food out and talked a bit with me. The menu is fascinating. A distinctly North Carolina menu. Several things jumped out: * Breakfast special for $6.59 weekdays * Breakfast plates mostly under $12 * Grits included as a side option * Livermush available * City ham and country ham both offered * Pork chops available for breakfast I ordered the country-fried steak with white gravy (essentially chicken-fried steak), along with two sunny-side-up eggs, perfectly prepared grits, a large buttermilk biscuit, and a delicious diner coffee. The restaurant occupies a stand-alone building with a warm, "come on in and rest a spell" atmosphere. Inside, you'll find counter seating, an open kitchen, and tables throughout the dining room. I chose a seat by the window overlooking the parking area. This was a great breakfast, that was reasonably priced, in a great atmosphere, with very nice people. It stuck to both my mind and ribs all day long. After breakfast, I continued on to downtown Concord and spent some time exploring one of North Carolina's most charming revitalized downtown districts. The breakfast was the perfect start to the morning. Crack of Dawn Diner has earned a spot on my repeat list whenever my travels take me through the Charlotte-Concord area.
