They even have tables that could accommodate small groups (6-10 people). They also offer patio sitting I tried the BBQ Burger and a side of fries. The burger was really good and just the right size for lunch. The fries looked and tasted like they sat under the heat lamp a little too long. Overall, the meal was pretty good. Extra notes: parking gets a little tight. They have several high chairs for toddlers. However, there is not a changing station in the bathroom. The service was great. Dropped by Park Road Soda Shop recently, and it felt like stepping right into a postcard from the 1950s. From the checkered floors to the chrome stools and jukebox tunes, the whole place oozes small-town charm and classic diner vibes. Cute little diner in the heart of town. Service is outstanding, timely & friendly. Everyone's meals were excellent! Ordered the Nathan's foot-long dog all the way which means it includes chili, slaw, mustard, and onions! The combination is unique but the contrast works well together. We were in the area and decided to try a new place for lunch and stumbled across this place, took a look at the menu online and decided to give it a go! We walked in and were instantly transported back in time. This cute diner style restaurant offered a ton of nostalgia for sure with the red booths and high top tables that each had the ketchup and mustard squeeze bottles. You walk in seat yourself and they come and take your order. The staff were kind and checked in on us often. The menu is pretty simple but offers lots of options. Although, i found it quite odd that on the kids menu they don't offer a burger. My son ordered a cheeseburger and added bacon. For his side he decided on chili cheese fries. He really enjoyed his meal! I got to taste the chili cheese fries and those were really good! For my order, I went with a cheeseburger, a chili dog and onion rings. In my opinion everything was just okay, the onion rings lacked flavor and I did not enjoy those at all. We were looking for a nostalgic, old Sokol place to take the kids for lunch and I stumbled upon Park Road Soda Shoppe. It seemed kid friendly enough from the reviews but once we arrived five deep and had to seat ourselves with all eyes on us it didn't seem quite so friendly. There were a lot of older people inside who were enjoying ice cream and shakes, but I think they were enjoying staring at us much more than the desserts in front of them. The waitress were friendly which was the reason we stayed and ordered, but it was a little cold inside and not just from the air conditioning, so we decided to dine outside. Once our food arrived so did the pesky flys and they were relentless! We ended up wrapping our subpar food and eating in the car. Needless to say we won't be returning to Park Road Soda Shoppe anytime soon. read more

Local favorite!! This place has some great comfort food options. I ordered the hamburger steak plate! This plate comes with fried onion rings on top. They aren't pictured bc they were so good that I ate them before I got home. I added my own grilled onions to the steak with a little A1 sauce. The sides were awesome! Their fried okra didn't disappoint and the potato salad had some of the best flavors I've ever tasted! Disclaimer: They offer their potato salad grilled! I didn't get mine grilled this time but I'll have to try it next time. The service was great too! Our order was ready for pick up after only 15mins! I believe this is a really good idea, although I do not like much of the food on the menu. I am not picky but its mostly standard fair. The chili is not really good at all and most of the time, the fried pickles are overdone. My wife loves the tuna salad but I cannot get excited by going here. I will eat their baby club and I like the option of putting syrup in the coke, but if I had my choice, this would not be my first choice. We appreciated the outdoor seating, the menu has many options (all made in house!), & the prices weren't bad at all. This restaurant is a delightful discovery. Simple and uncomplicated, it's like stepping back in time to when the customer was valued and satisfaction was paramount. It's not fancy, it's not innovative but you will find something much better. IT IS REAL! The burgers were handmade and tasted like my grandfather had just taken it off the grill. Mine was cooked exactly as I ordered it. The krinkle cut fries were hot and golden and one of our party really enjoyed the grilled potato salad. Dessert was delicious ice cream from a local creamery. The waitress was vintage perfect and had a perfect memory for every detail of our order. The staff seemed to enjoy working there and were genuinely friendly. We had no wait for a table, even though it was a busy Saturday evening. There was pleasant 1950's music, not too loud so we could still have a conversation with friends. I was up in Kannapolis for the day and stumbled across this soda shoppe. It seemed like a great place to get some American eats and listen to some oldies. I was surprised when I sat down and saw their name on the menu. I couldn't believe they had a Park Road Soda shoppe outside the Park Road shopping center in Charlotte. Whoever heard of such a thing? I'm glad I found it because the food did not disappoint. I ordered the footlong hot dog with onion rings. They got my order right, the food came out quickly, service was great, and the food tasted excellent! They had lots of different things on the menu that looked good that I wanted to try. I want to go back and try their chicken pita sometime when I'm in the area again. Good Menu well executed with Retro Atmosphere. I love the theme. I grew up in a small town in Western NC and we had three independent drugs stores and each had a lunch counter / soda shop. Great place to meet after school or to grab a quick bite when we would come to town with our parents. This started with a Park Road Soda Shoppe in Charlotte which was needless to say on Park Road. A couple of years ago the took over a Restaurant formerly known as Rosie's in Kannapolis and opened a 2nd Park Road Soda Shoppe. Decor is straight out of the 50's and the piped in music straight from the early 60's. Buddy Holly anyone. Walked in and were told to take any seat we wanted. Problem was all the empty seats were at tables that had not been cleaned yet. To told us to go ahead and take a seat and they would immediately clean the table which they did. Sat down at a booth and the bench obviously needs repair because it gave way and my rear hit the metal support bar underneath. Beyond that was the booth behind me. Ever been on a plane with you had a kit kicked the back of your seat. Had the same problem except the kid was 6'6" and probably weighed 300 lbs. Eventually he did settle down. It's a good menu with something for everyone. and it would appear that there are other items available that are not on the printed menu such as Philly Cheese steak. My wife started with the Soup of the Day which was a very hearty Potato Soup and it came out piping hot. For her entree, she order a Fish Sandwich ( would have been the Philly Cheese steak if she had known that was available) and a side of Fried Squash. My ordered a Grilled Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwich and a side of marinated Cucumbers, Tomatoes and Onions. At the end, I did opt for a Strawberry Milk Shake. Everything was great. Wife enjoyed her Potato Soup and is still talking about it. She said the fish was good which from her is unusual because she normally does not order seafood. The Fried Squash came with a Ranch Dipping Sauce that was very good. Portion size was very large so I ended up eating part of it. I have not had a Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwich since probably back in the 50 and 60's when I was growing up with those three drug stores in Brevard NC. It was good and a nice throwback. The Marinated Salad was excellent and the Milkshake even had bits of fresh Strawberries in it. Only served with a straw but I should have asked for a spoon. Excellent choice for Saturday lunch. We've tried to to before but keep forgetting they are closed on Sundays so this worked out well. There are a number of items I want to try next time such as the Pork Chop Sandwiches and Grilled Pork Chops. That big jar of Kosher Dill Pickles near the front look intriguing. I found out about this place on Facebook in a group that I'm in. We decided to take the 40 minute drive to this cool little spot and I'm so glad we did. When you first walk in it looks like a hip little 50s soda shop . I felt like we'd stepped back in time. The music that was playing are all oldies from the Beach boys and Marty Robbins. I saw a lot of customers bumping their heads and singing along with the tunes. The food was good, but not the real draw here. I'd say the fun atmosphere made our night so great. We sampled grilled chicken sandwiches, foot-long hotdogs, and chicken tenders. All were good but nothing to write home about. We split a side of cheese fries and the cheese sauce on them was very goopy so I wouldn't recommend getting those. Just the plain fries would be great enough. We all ordered dessert, as that is the real draw that we came for. We had chocolate shakes, birthday cake ice cream, and a hot fudge brownie sundae. The hot fudge brownie sundae was best even though some of the brownies that I was given were very crispy. I doubt if I would drive out of my way like I did this time just to visit the soda shop, but I know if I lived in Kannapolis I'd probably be there very often. hard to go much more than three stars with all them "rugged individuals" going in and out uncovered and unconcerned... (sure, folks can justify ditching the mask but nothing says they have to be served) but since the staff is properly accoutered I will consent to dining out of doors... that plus I had already convinced myself that I needed a soda. so a young lady comes out to get my order and I ask for a dog and fries plus a soda. she rattles off the fountain beverages and I reiterate "a soda please, a chocolate soda." a brief conversation later she's off to make inquiries... comes back a few minutes later with my chocolatey soda all proud of making it herself - it's actually pretty cool that she learned how - and my foods arrive shortly after. basic hot dog part-way (no chili, delicious yellow mustard, fresh onions chopped fine, bitey white slaw, and hot sauce) plus hot and light and crispy crinkle cut fries that go well with ketchup plus the previously mentioned soda make for a nice midday meal but I'll pass on the plague for dessert. the help here is top notch: attentive, polite, nattily attired, and socially distanced. the customers not so much... so go ahead and call in for take out. read more

I can't believe I found these guys in Kannapolis! I'm familar with the original location but happened to stumble across this one over the weekend! So obviously I had to have the hot dogs and there happen to be a little bit of a debate in my party on which dog was the best. It was the Nathans vs Kahns great debate of Easter weekend. I've only tried this place once and would definitely go back to give it another shot. My first time there was pretty simple- hot dog and chili cheese fries which is one of my favorite combos. Though, I couldn't finish the hot dog and the fries were only mid. My partners food was much better. He had pork chops, fried squash, and fried okra. I munched on his because the servings were huge! I give this place bonus points because despite being super busy all day, the staff was incredible. They were super fast and helpful the entire visit. This restaurant didn't appear to be too fancy when I arrived but the parking lot was full to capacity. I had to make a few laps around before I was able to park. I was meeting a friend for lunch and she suggested that we meet here. As we walked in we noticed immediately that the crowd wasn't diverse and we wondered if it was going to be an awkward experience. I walked up to the busy counter and asked the cashier if we seat ourselves and she said yes, however there weren't any tables available. As the cashier continued to help customers to check out she informed us on which tables may be leaving soon. My friend and I stood there table watching and the cashier alerted us that a couple was leaving. Not only did she help us find a table, but also, she came over to clean the table off. The restaurant gives off old school sandwich shop vibes and the menu is plentiful. Our waitress was a complete sweetheart and she explained the menu well. Both my friend and I went with the cheesesteak and I had a side of grilled potato salad and lemonade. The food came out rather quickly and was hot and fresh. The potato salad was served warm with cheese and simply amazing. The manager came around and asked if we needed anything. She was super bubbly and nice. She offered us dessert but i was stuffed my friend ordered a piece of home made pound cake. It looked so good just falling apart like a good grandma made cake would. Upon checking out i asked the manager her name because naturally I wanted to add it to my review. She came out from behind the counter to introduce herself as Amanda. My friend and I complimented her on the overall great customer service and food. We also told her that we liked the sign that suggested that you bless your food before eating it. Amanda, is actually the owner. She shared the backstory of the restaurant as well as her testimony. Amanda, also said that she works for the, Lord! Wow, right? Before my friend and i could get out the door Amanda explains that all of her tables have bible versus underneath them and she actually got down on the floor to read the bible verse that was under our table. It was a verse from Philippians. So now my friend and I are standing there all teary eyed & hugging Amanda. How often do you go into a restaurant and have the opportunity to fill your belly and your spirit? This was definitely an awe inspiring experience.
