My go to spot thanks to all the reviews ! It's super small though so I always call ahead . I didn't give it 5 stars because - #1- they charge $5 EXTRA if you want just even one nail a different color! That's crazy YOIRE not using any extra polish - it's a normal trend now one nail or alternating different colors do that really makes me mad :(( and #2- not sure how clean they are bc for example they don't wash out the pedicure basin in between pedis, took my nail clipper full of skin and just put it on that tray without wiping it off and the buffers they use are not new - watched a special on 60mins about those buffers needing to be brand new for each person and the white on them is other ppls skin! LONG ONE --- I was coming here for about three years. I loved it. I loved Monica especially because I went to her for years while she was at Athena's nails. I have nothing bad to say about her! I would still be going here if it wasn't for the nasty manager Isabelle. She is rude, not friendly at all. She rushes you out and the wait time is out of control even if you have an appointment. There were times I had an appointment for 12:00 and was not seen until 1:15. I waited because I loved Monica and her work. I've recommended this salon to many people especially mother's at the school and all the women in the family come here and spend lots of money every two weeks. That all changed when I lost my wallet one day and I was short $6.00. I informed Monica I had lost my wallet and not had realized until she had finished working on my nails. The bill had came out to 47.00. I had found $41.00 in one of my jacket pockets (thank goodness) and asked if I could bring the six dollars back tomorrow upon picking up my child at school which was right across the street from the salon. She agreed but when the BITCH Izabelle (manager ) heard- she told me very rudely that I had to have someone bring the six dollars. Now- I know how businesses work and maybe she didn't want to do it for me bc then everyone would want to do that- but DO NOT embarrass me, a long time paying customer by saying, "have your husband come bring the 6.00-we make no exception". Pull me to the side and say it or make the exception for me this one time- I come back every two weeks- religiously. I have been a client for years and even Monica told her that and she didnt care! I had to have my sister bring the money to me 45 min later after work. I had to wait there for 45 minutes to give her 6.00. A client who waits over an hour sometimes for an appointment time. Fast forward to two weeks later when I pass by for an appointment with Monica and Izabelle tells me she is booked for the next week. The next week?!?! Fast forward a day later to my mother's appointment. Her appointment time: 4:00. Her arrival time: 3:40. She picks her colors and waits patiently. She sees at 4:00 Monica still isn't done with her client. She says nothing bc like i said before we were long time clients of Monica- we don't mind waiting. Now its 4:20 and My mother asks when Monica will be done and the BITCH Izabelle replies LOUDLY and VERY RUDE- she isn't done and you have to make another appointment. To which my mother replied how much longer does she need and Izabelle said make another appointment. My mother went over to Monica in which Monica said she apologized and my mother said Merry Christmas all while handing her a box of chocolates she had gotten her for the holidays. My advice - nice and clean Too small though and They are very lucky to have Monica however that ISABELLE MANAGER BITCH shouldn't be working! Do not come here for acrylics. Everything from the start was a mess. She used unsanitized tools, I have a solid understanding of health code, product knowledge and application but try not to be a "backseat driver" I saw mistakes, only pointing out grave errors, which were met with excuses. I thought maybe she will fix it in shaping. No, by the end of acrylic application my nails were crooked, thick, lumpy, unsealed, and looked like I already needed a fill in. I gave up. I knew by this point there was no fixing this mess, I told her i was sorry but I couldn't wear the nails. She threw a fit, demanded I stay, in the end I told them to cut them off, where she flat out refused to do a removal until her manager stepped in. The manager never spoke to me. The nail tech was furious, She stuck my hands in acid and never came back. I asked for a scraper and began trying to do it myself. Eventually a kind nail tech stepped in and offered me assistance. Isabel performed my spa pedicure (about $35) and I do not recall the young woman's name who performed my Chellac manicure (about $22).... For a basic mani/pedi runs you about $21. I have gone to many nail salons in the city and spent way too much money for bad customer service and nail jobs that were not worth what I paid. Luckily I only live two blocks from this place. These young women are THOROUGH and take their time. they pay attention to every detail. Isabel was not shy about scrubbing my feet and making sure my feet were as smooth as could be, and then some! The young lady who did my Chellac manicure was very patient as well and did an EXCELLENT job with my nails. I was impressed from beginning to no end. I also accidentally messed up one of my toe nails when drying, and with no hesitation Isabel fixed it. I did apologize bc it was a clumsy mistake but she was very sweet about it. Usually technicians give you the "glare" and make you feel bad about it, lol. I loved every bit of my experience and will continue to go back. It's very tight in there and likely they'll try to do a quick job so if you're looking for a relaxing sanctuary, it's not. HOWEVER it's NOT a rinky dink place that looks gross.
