I needed a place with easy parking and I decided to come here (yes, I was feeling lazy). When I arrived, all the tech were busy. I waited for about 20 minutes for one tech. During those 20 minutes, I sat in the pedicure massage chair, which made the wait better. I chose my gel color. The tech was very nice, professional and did an excellent job. She showed the pedicure menu LoL and started with a lavender mud feet mask. Wonderful! When I saw the color I was very surprised! This color is very hard to find at a nails salon! I guess it's only me that loves this color. Mani & Pedi were great; only four stars because the tech needed to give more attention to the cuticles. me and my friend came yesterday. I asked to take my acrylic nails off and it only costs $10. the person who did it went above and beyond, not only he carefully took it off but he also cleaned my nails. I decided to also get a spa pedicure and it was very pampering, for $35 you get a pedicure, a scrub and a 10 min. foot massage while you're in a massage chair. It started raining when we were leaving and the lady gave us 2 umbrellas. Who in New york will have this next level kindness?? We will definitely come back! read more

I waited 47 min. for a regular manicure, the lady literally ripped off hangnail and made me bleed, and did a manicure no better than what I could have done at home. I went to Xcellent nails first, and they told me they had a 30 min wait, so I figured I'd try this place out. They had me pick my color and sit in a chair right away, no mention of a wait. I sat there for 47 minutes before someone helped me, AND they helped another walk-in first who had come in after me. At least Xcellent was honest about their wait times... Do not let them cut your cuticles. I don't think they sharpen/maintain their tools; the manicurist used the dullest cuticle clippers I've ever seen, so instead of cutting she just sort of yanked. One hurt so bad I made a sound, and it bled, which always makes me nervous that it'll get infected (who knows if their tools are clean...) but she barely acknowledged it. Honestly, there are a lot of salons on 30th that are great, don't bother with this one. read more

I was a loyal customer for 5 years and after today's service I will never come back here again . I once paid with credit card , they taxed me $40 for a $180 service which I get but then when I tried to warn another girl they told her it was a 2.50 fee . And then today again I took my 14 year old sister to get acrylic tips , the whole time the manager or whatever was getting up to service other people and took so long that I who got a pedicure and acrylic tips finished before her . And then she called her my sister a " nobody" and told me she was so small she kept forgetting about her ... but I paid full price for her so it was just rude . read more

Walked in to Ying Nails on a whim Friday afternoon after having lunch next door at The Grand. I was trying to figure out where to get a good mani pedi in the area since my regular nail spot has failed me multiple times. As I walked in, I was greeted by the owner, Helen. She is absolutely lovely, very professional and kind! The salon is modern and beautifully decorated, and they played relaxing classical music throughout. Ying's also has a great selection of beautiful SNS colors which in my experience is not common. Alison did my mani pedi and wow - what a beautiful job! I felt like a baby as she pampered me, and she works very fast! I also had a lavender spa pedicure which comes with a 10 min massage and callous remover. I thought $45 for that spa pedi was a great price. My best friend also stopped by to visit me since she was in the area, and Helen let her sit at the pedicure chair next to me even though she didn't get her nails done, lol. I've gone to Yings twice now and I have to say, the customer service and my nails are impeccable! Everyone there is soo friendly. I do SNS manicure and UV Gel pedicure. They have a bunch of SNS colors, which is always a plus and for some reason, hard to find. Each time I've gotten my nails done they have lasted weeks and still look great at the 3rd week. Everything inside is new and clean! The pedicure chairs are the best in Astoria. It's pretty affordable too! I love this nail salon! It's a hidden gem! It's upsetting to write this review as I have been here a handful of time and each time I had a good experience until today. The lady I had was Kelly. I felt like she was rushing the experience and I know this because the lady next to her started working on another customer at the same time and she finished before her even though I was getting a gel manicure and the other person was getting a regular French manicure. You can tell by the pictures I posted she's not good at applying white polish. I kept asking her to fix her mistakes. She kept trying to add more polish I told her I don't want the polish looking thick. I'm glad I didn't get the foot massage special that cost $40 because her massage was so light and weak that I rather her not touch me at all. I might return but if I do I won't go to her. read more

Just hate writing terrible reviews but today is a must. Please ladies/gents do not go here. I paid $25.00 dollars for a 2 mins pedicure that I could had done myself! There was nothing but I mean completely nothing done! The guy who assisted me was in a terrible mood I was afraid to complain about it. Moving on to my manicure he kept pulling my arms, twisting my hands like if I've never gotten a manicure before and making upsetting noises. At the time of paying I suggested to add tip on my balance he decided to charge me twice instead. I was so sad to see the low reviews!! I have been to multiple places in Astoria and this is by far my favorite. The owners are so kind and my acrylic tips & SNS tips always last 2 1/2-3 weeks. If anything breaks they will fix it for free! The workers are also very receptive to what I ask for. Cuticles always cut, shape is perfect, and if I ask to sit 30 more minutes to soak off my nails, they are patient!! I haven't had a bad experience in the past year and will post photos of my nails regularly :)) Advice-- if you are not happy or your nails are thin/ anything is uncomfortable, just ask them to re-do it. Nails started to crack the next day - had SNS dip powder on natural nails done. A young lady did it, didn't get her name unfortunately....she only did two rounds of dip so the nails looked pretty thin, not to mention she filed my natural nails a bit too much as she was removing the powder I had on the nails. I had to go here for a fill in bc my normal place was very busy and I was short on time. I needed a fill in and my broken nail fixed. The guy who did my fill in was obviously very new. He had to get 2 different people over to help with the broken nail, if i had enough time i would've told him he needed to take off the acrylic, put a new top on and redo it but unfortunately i had to rush. I attached the pictures..why they would let someone walk out and see this kind of job is crazy to me. From my first visit to the salon, they were warm and inviting. I got the spa pedicure, which was top-notch! I've had a lot of spa pedicures in my day, but the service I got was excellent. The tech cleaned my toes so well, taking extra care to remove and ingrown nail that had been tender for months. The 10 min massage and paraffin treatment made my feet and legs and heels so smooth. Their massage chairs are powerful and heated. I got a powder mani, too, and it came out great! I highly recommend this salon to anyone in need of a good pampering. My initial experience here was okay, everyone is in masks and I made a reservation even though it wasn't busy when I arrived (me and one other girl in the salon). The lady at the front desk - not sure if she's the owner? - was very nice. I got a gel manicure and it was fine, however I noticed when I got home that the sides of my thumbs hadn't been painted all the way on the left side and now, a week later today, one of them is chipping. The rest of my nails look great, so maybe just pay extra attention before you leave to make sure they've painted each entire nail. read more

But for some reason, my manicure was done by some other lady, and she did a terrible job. She left soooo much cuticle around my nail and the polish chipped about five minutes later. This is the last straw for me. I have been coming to this place for over a year, even before it became Ying Nail, and it's gotten progressively worse. Last week, I decided to get a gel manicure ahead of a trip I was taking. I typically opt for regular polish but wanted to try something that would last a lot longer -- lol boy was I fooled. Its now Monday, and I got these done last Tuesday evening. The polish started lifting the next day on the corner of my thumb, but I tried to not think much of it. My nails have gotten worse looking ever since. Gel is supposed to last ~2 weeks and they're a mess only 6 days in. Glad I paid $30 for an absolutely trash job. I had a pedi, gel mani and eyebrow wax and the service from start to finish was excellent. I was greeted warmly and taken straight in for my eyebrow wax, which was done well. As I sat in the pedi chair they put plastic over the tub, which is always a nice added measure of cleanliness that I appreciate. (I don't recall if the tools were opened in front of me or taken from a sanitizer.) I had the callous removal pedi, which was extremely thorough. My gel mani was solid as well. Expensive SNS powder was $45 and regular pedicure was $20. The sns powder broke literally 3 days after I got it done. Even my friend said they didn't do a good job. No massage, no callus removal, no cuticle removal (for hands or toes). Just the most basic job ever done. Will not be coming back. Although I love my actual experience my nails weren't he best, first thing I noticed was that the acrylic was behind my nails. Had been going to C & Y for about a year and really liked it. I went a few weeks ago and it was suddenly changed to Ying nails. Got a gel manicure and it was incredibly rushed. I was done in 15 minutes. They did a decent job but it felt like they were just trying to get me out of there which was strange because there was no line. I'm very surprised by some of the bad reviews for Ying! I've been coming here regularly for over a year and they always do a good job. The owners are so nice, and I haven't observed anything unhygienic. It's very clean in there, with freshly sterilized tools. They will happily fix anything wrong with my nails, and my manicures last longer here than at other nearby salons. Yes, occasionally a manicure might chip sooner than usual (as with any nail salon!).
