Agate Cove Inn is a charming inn located near downtown Mendocino. We enjoyed our stay in the Amber room. The room was very spacious. It's charm had a lot to do with it being old, but updated. The side view of the ocean was pretty. A few steps away wS a full view. I was a little disappointed to find out that they no longer offered breakfast. This was one of the reasons why we chose this place. They did offer coffee, tea, and cookies in the lounge area. Lounge area was quite large and really nice. They do sell wine at their location. There are only two things that I could point out in regard to my stay. This didn't take away from the five stars at all. There was a dead bug that was smashed on the wall next to the front door. The 2nd item had to do with comfort. I prefer a medium firm bed and the mattress was extremely soft. We communicated with a kind front desk staff member that gave us recommendations for breakfast. That was helpful for our visit. Overall, I enjoyed this stay. read more

My husband and I returned to Agate Cove Inn for a 2 night stay after our 1st visit 16 yrs ago. We were met with recent changes of the Inn no longer offering breakfast service which we much enjoyed the convenience of during our 1st stay. The staff were very friendly and suggested their faves for breakfast and we did take their word. The Inn also offered complimentary wine tastings at Husch Winery and we also enjoyed the offering and were pleasantly surprised the winery also offered us a discount for purchases since we were staying at the Inn. Something I really would like to mention is the welcoming cheerful hospitality and professionalism of the manager Steven Maldonado. During our stay we experienced a provider internet service outage the 2nd night of our stay. Steven was so diligent in his attempts to resolve that he stayed for a long period of time troubleshooting to clear the premise and making repeated calls to the provider. He also came to personally inform us that it didn't look like it would be restored that evening. He was also back really early to get back to getting the issue resolved with the provider. We stepped into the office to check out and he said it had been resolved. I thanked him and told him he was so great through it all. He never lost his cheery disposition and welcoming charm during the experience. We will definitely check for cottage availability when we come back to Mendocino to visit. read more

Absolutely breathtaking. Agate cove inn is a hidden gem. If you're looking to relax and unwind by the ocean this is the perfect place. TUI was kind enough to inform me that my original booking was not the best room for an ocean view. I was able to cancel and rebook and I am so greatful that I did, as we had ocean views from every window in our room. Susan was lovely at check in and gave us a great tour. The ladies at breakfast were very nice and accommodating, they even let me take a pancake to go as I'm pregnant and I was grateful for that. I left my jacket in the room and they even shipped it out to me. Can't wait to hopefully come back soon one day. Thanks to everyone who made our stay so lovely. Perfect place to stay if you're going to Russian gulch state park or the botanical garden or just kick back and enjoy the ocean view from the room. read more

Had a great stay here when they did breakfast, and was happy to stay there again,b ut I was about to book but then I saw the note on their website that they are no longer doing breakfast. As a couple with lots of allergens (no dairy, no gluten/wheat) this was one of the only places in Mendocino with breakfsat included we could actually partake in. It was buffet style, the food was all separated out, it was great. Agate's pricing is a bit more than some other spots in town that include some kind of breakfast, and is further away from downtown (requiring walk on a road with no sidewalk sometimes in the dark after dinner--I recommend bringing a headlamp), but we found it great for us in other ways. Sadly without the breakfast, we may look elsewhere for our next stay as I don't think the pricing has gone down to reflect the lack of breakfast. What a shame, the breakfast room is beautiful. I wonder how they will end up using the space. read more

Agate Cove is beautiful with stunning views. Upon our late afternoon check-in we made it in time for our glass of wine during wine hour. The views from the breakfast room are breathtaking. Once we got up to our room, the views were even better. The property has cabins scattered around, and each has its own parking spot. I had booked Crystal which is the room above the breakfast room. We had a huge balcony with nice furniture to sit and enjoy an unobstructed view of the ocean and the incredible sunsets. Breakfast each day was scrumptious, and the wine in the afternoon was a nice treat. We took it up and sat on our balcony. The room was spotlessly clean, large and the bed swallowed us for a fabulous nights sleep to the sound of the ocean. The Inn even put a bottle of champagne in our room with a card for our anniversary. The staff was all so nice and we couldn't have asked for a better stay. read more

Rented two rooms in April, rooms were dated with no AC units. No screen doors and window screens had holes in them. Mosquitoes were horrible so we couldn't leave them open. Beds were old & too soft and uncomfortable, and lean towards the head board making it extremely uncomfortable to sleep. The ladies serving breakfast were very nice and helpful. The manager we spoke to about the issues had a very rehearsed and robotic personality not willing to help at all. We left messages for the owners but they didn't even have the common courtecy to call us back. Horrible experience, unfortunately unable to recommend. read more

I think the two best things about this place are the location and the breakfast. It's at the north end of Mendocino town about a half mile from Central Mendocino. The first hundred yards from the Inn to town on the road has very little shoulder and is dangerous for walking. Besides that it's a close walk to town and the location is very quiet compared to the town activity. Breakfast is included at this B&B. And it is incredible. They have baked bread, a couple type of eggs and meats, potatoes, good non-sugar yogurt, granola and chia pudding. Everything is high-quality and homemade. The best chia pudding I ever had! They do French press regular and decaf coffee and have juice. The chef will make you pancakes to order. I would stay here just for the breakfast. The dining room has a beautiful view of the sea and the cliffs at Agate Cove. The staff is impeccably generous and welcoming. The toiletry amenities are high quality and smell nice. The shower was clean with plenty of hot water. On the down side, not all the cottages or rooms have a view of the sea and the buildings are aged. The rooms are clean, but not 'critically styled', meaning not assessed for design or convenience details ascetic. Like not having another set of bath towels nor a place to hang them to dry would have been thoughtful. You can hear the traffic on 101 behind the property. Their wine hour has been indefinitely postponed. The tap water is funky but they have filtered water available in the main house to fill our water bottles. We stayed in 'Moonstone' cottage with a view of the building in front on it. read more

AMAZING getaway from the hustle of city life Came here for a birthday trip and it did not disappoint! Stayed in the Ruby room, which is actually a two-story room! A queen bed on the ground floor (with a full bathroom & fireplace) AND a queen bed, reading nook overlooking the ocean, living room and full bath on the second floor. So comfy, roomy, cozy. The breakfast here is in a lovely room with ocean views, all cooked on site by a stellar team. It is quiet, no noise at all for a quiet getaway. They have fresh baked cookies and tea / coffee station throughout the day. The views are gorgeous!!! We chose the Agate Cove Inn because of its close proximity to town and good reviews. The frontline staff was five stars. The two Susans (both morning/evening Front Desk Coordinators were named Susan!), Stephanie (General Manager), and the room/breakfast staff could not be more accommodating. The breakfast was top-of-the line with standard fare, made from scratch items, and cooked to order options. The employees truly love the Inn and it shows on how they treat their guests and one another. Mendocino has always dealt with water issues. The Agate Cove Inn was no exception. We filled the spa tub with water in our cottage only to be greeted by a green swampy lagoon. Bathe and drink at your own risk. The 2 star deduction is due to the facility being slightly tired, understaffing, spooky water, and lack of an adult beverage happy hour usually offered in most 5 star Inns. read more

Staying here was a magical experience from start to finish, and not just because of the gorgeous location for our elopement. The staff is so lovely and went above and beyond to make us feel relaxed and taken care of. We are vegan and they made us truly delicious meal accommodations. We eloped to focus on what mattered most to us for our special day - each other. This beautiful bed and breakfast let us unwind, connect, focus on our 7 years together, and truly cherish this important step in our relationship. We were charged $611 in total for our 1 night stay 8/29/20. NOT worth it. JASPAR room, limited ocean view. Room is nice but not $600 nice. I guess B & B pricing? But it's a motel experience, nothing special (unless you have a good idea view room apparently, per other reviews). Lady at reception was nice when we arrived, friendly. Unfortunately we arrived after pizza ordering time cutoff of 5 pm, as we had to drive well our of our way due to fires blocking Hwy 1. A call or email to ask if if we wanted the pizza option would have greatly helped, as the restaurants in town were mostly to-go food - patio reservations were booked all weekend. I would have rather just eaten their pizza upon arrival than $60 cold Italian our of boxes. JASPAR ROOM: No-frills white walls with nothing on them (local art is all around, support local?), white bedding, NO decorations besides one vase and clock (photo). Wifi was fine. Fireplace as heater is nice. DVD player didn't work for the borrowed movie. Found out in the morning the DVD player built into the TV is the way to go. Needs a note posted in the room. PROPERTY: Pretty landscaping, great views *from SOME parts of the property*. Due to COVID, guests cannot use main property living room at any time. Unfortunately, unless you have a good view room, the best ocean views ARE from the main house. BREAKFAST: COVID means you must have breakfast in your room delivered in cardboard boxes. So understandably, the (overdone) scrambled eggs were not warm by the time they made the trip to be set outside our front door. No salt & pepper, nothing provided for seasoning in the delivery nor in the room. One 2/3-full mug of coffee each, that's it (a small pot would be more normal - my $600 could cover a few of them). The small table between the chairs is broken, so you can't expand it to fit your cardboard boxes. One arm is broken, other side slopes to much to hold anything. So usable table is about 10" x 24". Maybe this is normal proving around here, but I am extremely disappointed (in myself) for paying this much for MEH. I would never recommend it unless it had been 1/3 the price and once it's back to a real B & B experience. I chose to console myself with knowing I helped to support the local economy and the nice employees. read more

Good views but very poor service, our room didn't have heat entire night and it was impossible to get hold of anyone to get it fixed or change our room. We had to follow up multiple times to even get the room clean. There are many other bed and breakfasts and hotels in the area with better facilities. Agate Cove Inn is probably one of the most scenic bed-and-breakfast places around the area. Located right on the edge of Lansing Road, there's plenty of beautiful scenery and those who are nature lovers, would love this place! Upon driving up to our assigned parking spot, you get out of your vehicle which is most likely parked right in front of your cottage. The main room where you check in and has coffee and tea is quite cozy and has many amenities for your stay. You walk out to your trail that heads towards your cottage, there's plenty of of trees and greenery to enhance your viewing pleasure. There's even this over 100-year-old redwood tree in the front of the bed-and-breakfast that creates such a great scenery and is so picture worthy! When we first walked into our cottage there were plenty of amenities, from your self serve coffee to your king size bed and an accompanying beautiful deck with artistic scenery that adds to the gorgeous scene. We had this really cute fireplace that warmed up the room quickly, there was plenty of bureaus and nightstands to put your belongings away. The decor was nicely updated and simple but with an elegant touch. There were no unnecessary furniture pieces in our cottage. They also have a Tesla charger as an added plus. We didn't have to go anywhere to charge our car. Down on the same road that our bed and breakfast was located, is a small little town and country area where there's multiple eateries a great coffee shop and a little boutiques. A simple stroll down that road will add to your viewing pleasure! We will definitely reserve a place at Agate Cove Inn again. The customer service and the surrounding areas were also top-notch! Just returned from a 2-day stay at Agate where my wife booked the Sunstone cottage. The views are wonderful, everything else -- atrocious. If you're a masochist, this is the place for you. Below is a partial account of our experience and observations. This business blatantly misrepresents its competencies and is not able to maintain the minimum standards of hospitality. Pending a response, we will be initiating a dispute with our CC company. There are other issues not discussed here which themselves warrant an Op-Ed, but this should raise enough red flags for any sensible person considering a stay at the Agate. There are so many alternatives in the area; our errant choice was an oversight and could not be rectified in the middle of a holiday weekend. On-site Amenities: - "Telephone" (corded phone icon on the site): how do guests access this lovely device when the "main house" area (where the phone is) is blocked off after 6:00 pm? Note that the inn is in a complete DEAD ZONE with no cell reception for AT&T and VZW (can't speak for other networks). This poses a major problem/concern for guests with critical health conditions or disability (one of us). In the event of an emergency, one would have to run up the road to make a call. But, how far? When connectivity is THAT problematic, it's incumbent upon you to make CLEAR mention of this on your website. In-room Amenities: - Wi-Fi: connectivity is null. You may periodically pick up a signal with max speed ~ 10 MBPS (w/o VPN). That is, if you are within reasonable proximity to the main house, where I assume the router combo is. I highly doubt there are any network extenders on the property. Interestingly, I did notice an "Agate INSIDE" network with better connectivity, but a different password. Desperate, I did approach someone in the main house the second day hoping they might perhaps share that second password. The frazzled individual mentioned they too had no connectivity and that Comcast might come by. Not likely, we thought, as Comcast is not known to show up on demand even for business account holders. That person seemed far more bothered *they* had little reception on their phone than their guests. - Bedding: getting into bed the first night, we were greeted with the most tragic bedding and sheets you could ever lay your body on. Moving around just a little would be enough to give you rug burns. 200 grit sandpaper is what that Polyester/Cotton blend felt like. If there was a nearby target, we would have raced over to pick up an alternative just for the night. The sheets themselves didn't fit the bed and slid around. Ultimately, we covered our pillows with some shirts and resorted to sleeping aids just to get through the night. I have slept on hospital (and hostel) beds that were remarkably more comfortable. The pillow never stayed put and was akin to a couch cushion with a cheap fill. We wasted no time to mention this (as candidly as possible) to Michael the next morning - the bedding was replaced with 100% polyester sheets which were a modest improvement but still felt like sleeping underneath a table cloth. As we discovered this was the least of our troubles. In all likelihood, the tics mentioned in earlier reviews made an appearance - no other explanation for bites in odd places. - Bathroom: has one inoperable casement window. If you need to close it, you'll have to step out of the cottage, come around the other side, push, while someone pushes the levers back into the lock position. Evidently, the crank arm is no longer attached/aligned with the track notch. This was also mentioned to Michael along with the sheets at which point he asked when would be a good time to have a look. We confirmed that during "breakfast" would be ideal. Later in the day, upon realizing the window situation was not resolved, I approached Michael first to thank him for the sheet swap. He volunteered that "yeah, he couldn't do the window, it's been a problem for a while." I can't speak to who "he" is but presumably a property manager or contracted handyman. What matters more is that it's clear this has been known to the innkeepers for some time and they're perfectly content having their guests run around cottages finding workarounds to malfunctioning windows. You just "deal" at the Agate Cove. No apology or remotely sympathetic comment offered. - Breakfast. Lacking, with eggs barely edible and bacon drenched in grease. Nothing tasted particularly "fresh." The view was the only consolation. The service seemed oddly frantic despite the small number of guests present. A group of 2-3 Aussie guests walked in 20 before end of service and commented on there being nothing to eat. They were told, in no uncertain terms, that "bacon would take 30 mins" and "sorry we're out." We stuck with plain toast and some butter - seemed predictable enough. In closing, this isn't acceptable and the appropriate parties will be made aware. read more

The last owners in 2015, 2017 when we were there last were wonderful. Sadly the new owners care nothing about details! The cottages used to be so nicely decorated, attractive, clean, comfortable. This time, no decorations, horrible bedding, lumpy mattress, hard pillows and our bathroom smelled like urine - it was awful. Ladies in dining room were very nice, but no more fresh pastries or muffins, no more amazing egg dishes or oatmeal with all the fixings. The buffet consists of watermelon, egg bites and English muffins. Wouldn't be so bad, but when you're charging top dollar, I want the details. We had the most confusing stay here. The property itself is gorgeous, located across the street from the ocean, and the breakfasts are amazing, but our experience at this B&B was just weird. First of all, if you stay in the cottages toward the back of the property, you are flush against Highway 1 and hear trucks rolling by all night. Secondly, customer service is just bizarre. We made reservations online (as most people do) based on the descriptions of the rooms. We deliberately selected one that claimed to "sleep three adults." Upon arriving at the B&B, we discovered that the third place to sleep was actually... wait for it... a window seat. When we asked about this interesting arrangement, the manager at first said that what I was saying was untrue - that the website "doesn't advertise room for 3" (ummm, see attached screenshot). Then she told us that the pictures online "clearly showed" that there was a window seat, and that we should've known that there were no other places to sleep. Ummm, actually, no - that's incorrect. First of all, I've never been in your cottage, and I have no idea if there's another place to sleep that I just can't see in the picture. Secondly, if you're advertising that your cottage can sleep 3 adults, it should comfortably sleep 3 adults!! Duh. Regardless, we had to take turns sleeping on the window seat, and what's more romantic than that? (If you'd like to know the comfort-level of that flimsy seat cushion: IT SUCKS.) Furthermore, the toilet in our cottage overflowed all over the bathroom floor. (Nothing says romance like a little toilet water!!) Our sink was clogged and backed up every time we turned on the water. When we told the manager, she said that the plumber had "already come that day and wouldn't be back." We then got a call saying she checked the room and "it's fine." We got back and the sink was still clogged. Eh...? Say wha...? (I have a gross pic, but it's gross so I won't post it. You're welcome.) No plumber ever came to our room. Moreover, we were never offered a discount, refund, or apology for the various hotel issues. Yay window seats and effusive toilets. This place has the potential to be amazing. Some of the cottages have beautiful views (some don't, so look at the map before choosing) - the food is delicious - it's a five minute drive from downtown Mendocino - you can walk to the nearby Mendocino Headlands State Park! - but holy wow, customer service needs a major overhaul. read more

This is an amazing place to stay and I cannot wait to stay again! Each room is it's own little cottage. We stayed in the Opal, which is two rooms and a sitting room. The downstairs room has a fireplace and a really luxurious bathtub and upstairs has an amazing view of the ocean. In the morning, they bring a super yummy assortment of breakfast right to your door and they made my mom some wonderful tofu scramble as she is vegan. Staff were really welcoming and kind. Also really liked the black Friday deal for this place! Word of caution: don't try to walk to the state parks, they are close but only connected by the highway with no pedestrian walkway and narrow bridges. read more

Our family of four stayed in the Garnet room. Felt very luxurious after our Yosemite Valley lodge stay in 100 degree heat. The gardens are beautiful and the view from the front is breathtaking. If I stood up, I could see a smidge of water from our deck. The shrubs blocked the view. I was a little bummed about that. The breakfasts were great. The chef was very accommodating. I would have liked to have sampled the freshly baked cookies, but they were always gone. The sliding door to our bathroom seemed a bit old but it did the trick. All in all, we loved our stay. We very much enjoyed our stay at Agate Cove Inn. The grounds were beautiful, with lots of flowers blooming. Gorgeous view of the ocean from the lawn area and dining room. We stayed in Garnet and had a limited, partial ocean view. The hedges looked overgrown however. I think if they were trimmed, you would have a better view. The bed was quite comfy, but the pillows were terrible. I would recommend packing your own. The best part of the stay was the complimentary breakfast experience each morning. You make a selection the day prior from a couple different options then they have it ready right when you arrive for your time slot. I thought it was very organized and it felt like you were having breakfast at home almost. The food tasted fantastic and the staff was so friendly and accommodating. One evening we sat out on the main patio area and had the fire pit going. It was a lovely experience and I would highly recommend for anyone looking for a peaceful getaway. read more

I cannot recommend this place enough. My wife, my mother, and I stayed there this past weekend and found it to be charming, comfortable, beautiful, and an all-around pleasure. We made the reservation on the B&B website (a trusted site), and found the staff, including Stefanie, Trisha, Michelle, and Savanah, to be amazing, which was particularly important because my mom is elderly and this trip simply would not have worked without them going the extra mile. The room (the Ruby room, which is more like a cottage) was comfortable and memorable (hopefully they aren't going to change/remodel it, as I'm afraid it will lose its unique charm), the food was delicious (breakfast every morning, 24/7 coffee, tea, and cookies), and the location/views were stunning. We will no doubt be back, and I have no interest at all in looking elsewhere. This is our new "vacation home". read more

What a magical retreat! The view is breathtaking and Stephanie Silva is an excellent warm and personable host. Their complementary breakfast is one of the best I've had at a hotel in the US. The breakfast chef makes fabulous made to order French toast and pancakes and their buffet is served in small platters insuring freshness. Adding to this we loved the French press coffee, chia seed pudding, granola and Vermont maple syrup. Stephanie also gave us fantastic recommendations for nearby activities and restaurants. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with a cozy fireplace. There is a 24hr coffee and tea room with delicious freshly baked cookies. Extremely unfriendly customer service and predatory booking practices. I'd absolutely avoid this place, but if you have no other options as Mendocino is a small town that books up quickly, prepare to encounter self-righteous front desk staff who don't understand the concept of service, know that they charge immediately, and don't expect to be able to cancel no matter what kind of cancellation agreement you agreed to. I was excited to stay here, but our plans changed just hours after we booked the room for several weeks in the future. I contacted them immediately to cancel but received no response to my email or phone calls until the following night AFTER they put through the charge on the room -- I'd selected a book now pay later rate, but their fine print said that they charge all bookings within 24 hours (so by "pay later", they mean not this minute but functionally they charge immediately). When I finally got some contact back from the hotel, they told me the rate was not refundable because it was marked as their APR rate, despite that no definitions of APR or mention of non-refundable appeared on their own booking search results page or the terms and conditions that I clicked to agree to when I paid. (The surly employee claims it was listed in a pop-up from the complete room description page, which was multiple clicks away from anywhere that I was in the booking process on their own website.) I did agree to a $30 cancellation fee and got a confirmation email stating full refunds minus fee until 14 days prior to the booking, which to me pretty clearly indicates that cancellations are possible. Unfortunately we had to contact our credit card company for resolution because the hotel appears to find no fault in the judgment of their employee who interrupted and yelled on the phone when contacted by both myself and my husband -- The hotel owner was supposed to get in touch to resolve this but hasn't, as well as not responding to the credit card dispute. They have had plenty of time to try and rebook the room, on a summer weekend which is now completely booked at their hotel and most if not all the other hotels in Mendocino, but instead they twiddle their thumbs and wait for the dates to pass to potentially claim in the credit card dispute a lost opportunity to rent. Likewise they steal from us the opportunity to offer the dates to friends or family if their unethical room-booking business practices are insufficiently deceptive to warrant a return of our money by the credit card company. If it's not refundable, at least let us let our loved ones use it, even though we can't! read more

Stayed here, (no kids) post-storm and loved it. The room was spotless. Beds comfortable. If you love your pillow, bring it. Our initial room had a problem with the fireplace so they quickly upgraded us. Service was impeccable, the breakfast delicious and the view spectacular. Just a 10 minute coastal walk to the town center. Will certainly go there again. read more

I rarely write reviews but Agate and the team were so amazing and they deserve all the shoutouts. My now husband and I got married at Headlands park but our dinner party and all our guests were at Agate in May 2021. Erin helped me with coordinating which was so challenging as we were just starting to come out of the pandemic's shelter at home orders and unfortunately so many vendors were affected by it. I trusted her opinions and recommendations as I am based in Sacramento, and she never steered me wrong. She connected me with a chef for the food, her amazing staff were the servers for our dinner and accommodated everything for myself and my guests. Their kitchen's chef made us breakfast, and provided me with lovely treats the morning of our wedding as I got ready. I even asked Erin if there was a market that I could get some fresh flowers to leave in my mother and MIL's room for Mother's Day and she went out of her way to get them for me and have it set up in their rooms when they arrived. Even though it was a small wedding, there were still lots of personalities and the Inn's team was incredibly patient with everything. We visited a year later for our anniversary and the staff remembered us and really took care of us. This is about as good as it gets. The location is perfect with wonderful views of the ocean and headlands. Rooms are clean and spacious. Breakfast every morning was delicious. We are vegan and the innkeeper put in the extra effort to prepare a vegan breakfast for us. (Please make sure to let them know prior to your arrival if you have any dietary restrictions or requirements.) I think the location of Agate Cove Inn is perfect for exploring Mendocino, Fort Bragg, or anywhere up and down the coast on Highway 1. We stayed in the Emerald room, a great location with exquisite views out our window. read more

I've been wanting to stay at the Agate Cove Inn ever since I came across their biscotti recipe over 20 years ago in a collection of b&b recipes. I was going to be in the area and was fortunate to get a reservation for one night. The setting in Mendocino is breathtaking. You can see the ocean from the dining room a little coffee room and many of the guest rooms (not mine). If you've never been to that part of the country you must go. My room didn't have an ocean view view but did have a large tub with a jacuzzi and opened to its own private patio. The grounds are beautifully planted. My biggest disappointment was that it backs up to highway 1 so I could hear the traffic all night. I was expecting private hideaway. And no one had heard of the biscotti recipe! Just got back from my trip to Mendocino in which I stayed here two nights. I have to say, I have both pros and cons. The Pros: Stunningly beautiful views and lots of places to sit and enjoy it. Nice location right on the coast. My little cottage even had a nice view out the window, and a little back porch. Another huge pro: The breakfasts. OH YUM. I don't think I've ever stayed anywhere that had this good of a breakfast. Cute room, nice little gas fireplace. The Cons: To be clear, I enjoyed my stay and I feel mean putting in cons. But here they are. The bed sheets were kind of a weird slippery fabric, and the pillows wouldn't stay put. The sheets didn't fit all that well, they were big and saggy and slippery. So it made the bed a little less than comfortable because I was fighting with the sheets and pillows. I found that a bit weird. The other cons were: lame TV channels. No HBO as was advertised. A premium movie channel would have been nice. And very weak Wi-Fi. Also, the Verizon cell phone service wasn't strong in the immediate area, which made it more of a big deal that the Wi-Fi was less than reliable. It made it a bit harder to look up a restaurant on Google, or use maps to plan my route. All in all, very nice place to stay. Just fix the bed sheets, the TV channel line up, and the Wi-Fi, and everything will be great. read more

He had a 2 night stay at the Agate Cove in and found it to be absolutely lovely! We stayed in the "Amber" cottage and it had a nice view of the beautiful gardens and of the cove. The proximity to downtown Mendecino was great. The room was clean and comfy, the bathroom was spacious and the small deck overlooking the cove was a great way to unwind with a glass of wine and catch the sunset! Breakfast is a buffet, and had everything from bacon and sausage, to an parmesan egg dish, hash browns, coffee cake, fresh fruit, yogurt, granola, juices and coffee. We did not leave hungry. The view from the breakfast seating area was amazing! We drove to the redwoods, to wineries and explored the gorgeous coast. We found the restaurants in Mendocino to be OK, but not great, but it's the entire experience that we enjoyed. We also sat on their side porch to watch the sunset which was beautiful. They even made a few fresh pizzas for those that were there for the sunset. The service was super friendly by everyone we met there. HATED to leave! read more
