Agatha's is a beautiful restaurant serving flavorful food and drinks. The wait staff is friendly and efficient, and will offer helpful suggestions. I started with Robert's Margarita, a delicious and colorful take on the drink. One of the house specialties is the Chicken Marsala, which I accompanied with pureed potatoes and grilled vegetables. Naan is also good. Simply fantastic flavors in everything. The dessert was phenomenal. A dark chocolate brownie with a caramel sauce and topped with hazelnut ice cream. Again, the combination of textures and flavors will guarantee a clean plate. Agatha's reminds me of some of the better places in Palm Springs, CA. Brought friends here for Thanksgiving with no turkey! We all had Pulpo de Ajillo, which was delicious, and the accompanying potatoes so yummy! Also the warm beet (betabel) salad with goat cheese and pistachios - fabulous! I don't remember it being warm before, but it was great. The only disappointment was the Camarones Crunchy, which was small chewy shrimp, not crunchy at all, on top of a creamy base. We told the server we had been brought the wrong dish, as the shrimp weren't crunchy. She said, no, that's the dish. A manager came over and said that yes, that was the crunchy shrimp dish. Unbelievable. They did finally take the dish off the bill, but we were disappointed that we didn't get a good shrimp dish. The Robert's Margarita was excellent as usual. read more

We had a very enjoyable evening dinner at Agatha! Delicious food and drinks, lovely ambiance, efficient, polite and kind waitstaff.

Tonight was by far the best non-Mexican dinner I have had in Mazatlan. El Presidio and Topolo have gone downhill and I am glad Agatha opened up. The decor, bar, and service were top notch with full attention to your every need. The menu has something for everyone including fresh fish, meat and even sushi. You get a great tri-fecta of sliced breads served when you are seated with an olive oil tapenade which is very addicting! I started out with a "Robert's Margarita" with a chili salt rim that is salted INSIDE the glass. This is the only place I have seen this where there is not salt on the outside. This means instead of getting a lip full of salt, the salt blends with the drink as you take a sip for a little "hot and sweet action" although it is very mild heat that really kicks the margarita up a notch. I had two they were so good. Being a first visit, I am not shy on ordering from all over the menu. The following was ordered: -Salmon Tare Tar, great presentation, mixed lightly with a mayo/chipotle sauce, served in a perfectly round circle shape. -Crisp Cauliflour because you have to eat your veggies! Fantastic grilled cauliflower which is big enough for 5-6 people unless you are a cauliflower fantanic. At the base of the bowl was a great sauce that tasted like a ketchup/mayo base and really complimented the cauliflower. -Oysters on Bone Marrow (HOLY MOLY GOOD). If you like bone marrow and you like oysters then you will love this dish. Simple, different and delicious. -Oysters Rockefeller. This dish was "ok" with not much cheese, barely any spinach and very little sauce this was my least favorite dish but it was good. Not great, just good. -Octopus Appetizer, cooked in garlic and butter. Tender as can be, huge garlic flavor with minced garlic throughout. This was one of my favorites being Octopus is my #1 dish to order in Mazatlan. -Spicy Tuna Roll with cream cheese and cashews. It worked extremely well and the rice, although not traditional rice was more of a sticky rice that tasted great. -BBQ charred Octopus was ordered as a main course by my daughter. Completely different cooking style but just as tasty as the garlic octopus. Duck Confit Tacos with a spicy chili sauce that really made the dish. The duck was tender, not dry and you get 4 tacos to the order so plenty to share with friends. For dessert I had no room so I went with a latte. The latter was very good with a nice foam head. I am so happy this place is close by now and they are going to give the nicer higher end restaurants a run for their money. They will undoubtedly be in the top 3 restaurants in my book for 2018 in Mazatlan. We will see how they are when I return in December 2018 for a follow up visit. 5 stars. read more

Oh Agatha! A few firsts and a few bests here. My partner started with the wedge salad which he loved, and I started with the cauliflower appetizer. It was the first time I had had cauliflower prepared like this, but definitely the best cauliflower dish I have ever had. I'm going back for more today. We shared the mixed ceviche, which was HUGE after having our appetizers, and more than we could eat. This dish was another best, the best ceviche we've ever had. The octopus, shrimp and scallops were of very high quality. The lime juice was plentiful and tasted so fresh. The tostadas it was served with quite tasty as well. Entrees included the fish of the day for me, which was sea bass that I had cooked with garlic. It was perfectly cooked and had amazing flavor. My partner got the pork shank which he said fell off the bone. I didn't have room to eat desert, but when I go back later today for the cauliflower dish I am getting the molten chocolate cake which I'm positive will be worth a 20 minute wait. The bar inside is covered in agate, absolutely stunning. Great service, although our main waiter did get a little distracted when a table of about 10 came in. Understandable though. We went back for the cauliflower and molten chocolate cake, but also ended up trying some other items. The gobernador tacos with fish, veggies and a spicy serrano sauce were finger food heaven. The Agatha house salad was so tasty and perfectly dressed. The clam chowder was fantastic, with all ingredients diced, which really added to the dish. Boyfriend had the lamb chops and was extremely impressed with the tenderness and sauce that accompanied them. I also got to try the molten chocolate cake, and I was right, it was worth the 20 minute wait. When I took my first bite I noticed the flavor of a warming spice, which a few seconds later I identified as ginger. I wasn't expecting it, and at first I was a little thrown off. But the second bite (and all that followed) were very enjoyable. I forgot to mention the Mexican Rude and Robert's margarita before, both of these beverages were well thought out and well executed. read more

Came here after looking around for some places to have dinner. Upon arrival the place was empty besides just one table? The lady asked if we had reservations and we said no and she said "oh okay we'll let me see where I can seat you because we do have reservations" as the whole place is pretty empty and remained pretty empty as the night progressed. Great service and lovely location. Although they were not busy I assume it's because it's off season. The food was really fresh and well made here and it was worth coming. A lot of the hotel restaurants offer the same kind of items rearranged but the menu here was really diverse and fresh. The Agatha salad is so delicious for a simple salad and I would definitely get it again. The roasted cauliflower is enough to share and a real treat. Best meal we had in Mazatlan. It's hard to call an expensive restaurant good value, but this one comes very close. $10 corkage good wait staff and a nice clean modern appearance. We ordered the ribeye for two which is really tacos for two made with ribeye. Highlights are the care with which even the beans and salsa were made, details which don't go unnoticed considering most places in the Zona Dorada are using canned beans and store-bought salsa Plus the attentive nature of the waitstaff. Agatha's Salad is the BEST salad I have ever had in my life! Looks and sounds simple enough, but there is magic in that balsamic vinaigrette I swear. We were lured to Agatha with starry-eyed hopes of a contemporary kitchen, and great cocktails. What we got was a rapture of the pallet from start to finish. The cocktails, made by hand, with care; poured by leather-apron wearing aficionados, couldn't have hit more perfect notes. The starters were rich, luxurious, but not overpowering. I had scouted out local restaurants on Yelp and was excited to eat here, and convinced my family that this was going to be a great meal. We were highly disappointed. Took over an hour for our food to arrive, we were one of only 3 seated tables. And when my seared tuna and tempura veggies came it was some cold. It had been waiting on the counter for quite a while at this point. They took it back and brought it out overcooked. It was inedible, I literally couldn't chew through it. My wife didn't send her cold tuna back, but also didn't eat it, she said it was too tough,. Not sure how that happens with fresh tuna. My brother in law and mother in law had the short ribs, also cold. My sister in law had the shrimp satay. I guess that was what they were waiting on as it was the only thing served hot. The calamari was chewy. Not all was completely awful. Just as the other reviewers say, the octopus was quite good. But for the price this was our most disappointing meal after being in country for 10 days. read more

We have been here a week. This was the best dining we have had. Wait Staff were all well groomed and attentive. I had the catch-of-the-day $195 (bass), my wife had the tenderloin $275. Both meals came with one vegtable dish. I chose the mixed grilled veg and my wife ordered the fried brussel sprouts. Both were done impeccably. We passed on the appetizers and instead ordered an extra side dish (puretted sweet potatoe $40). Ordered Margaurittas. Not the best here. Also ordered a white wine Berringer $530. Went excellent with our meals. For desert opted for the Molten Chocolate (110). Took 20 minutes (which we forewarned of). Was fantastic. With tip total bill was $1650. This Restraunt has probably the most creative chef in Mazatlan. That is saying a great deal because Mazatlan is a foodies' paradise. The meals are consistently amazing. I requested a vegetarian dinner a couple of times and I was not disappointed. The meal was balanced which is a rarity in Vegetarian entrees. But most of all, it was flavorful and satisfying.
