I have positively reviewed Agatina's previously. This review is negative to the point that we will not be back. First of all I feel violated by a $36.95 charge for BEEF STROGANOFF, that is insane. Second we felt very rushed to place our order and get the hell out, did not order drinks that is why. Third the place is very loud and crowded. Fourth the food is average with above average prices. Fifth the Delmonico steaks (2), one was undercooked the second was tough. Sixth the Bolognese was very oily, not very flavorful. read more

Love this place for our office Christmas dinner, this is our second year and I have to say the food was better this year than last! Although the lights were a bit brighter in the dining room than I would prefer, could be the older clientele need to see and read the menu LOL! But we had a great time from the holiday drinks, seasonal to the dinner! I definitely want to return to try more of their holiday drinks. Prices were reasonable too. We used to come here often before we moved away from Rochester 23 years ago. We just moved back, and we're happy to see Agatina's was still here. We tried it tonight and were very disappointed. My wife ordered Veal French which was served on a bed of escarole. The escarole had a musty flavor of mildew. We both tasted it and had the same reaction. We said something to our very pleasant waitress, who said she would inform the chef. She came back and gave us our bill without mentioning it. We we asked, she said the kitchen had told her it was fine and there was nothing wrong with it. No adjustment to the bill. The rest of the meal was just ok, although the salads were both wilted and the veal was heavy with oil. We were looking forward to our meal, but we won't be back. We've found too many other good restaurants. read more

One of my favorite Italian restaurants in Rochester. It's reasonably priced and the food is always great. I went on Friday and had the Haddock French and it was excellent. Had the chicken pastina and you can't go wrong with that. There we're 10 of us in the party and a couple had drinks. The bill came to $209.00 with tax. Plenty of room in the restaurant and plenty of parking. Go there if you haven't been, you won't be disappointed. They have a large menu and great specials as well. read more

We ordered a $200 worth of food take out order a few weeks ago. They told us to be there by 730 for pick up. We were there and waited outside, a young woman came out a few times, asked us our name, but it became a half hour later and we had heard nothing about our order. My fiancé went in to find out what the deal was, they told him the kitchen was behind. We would have been sitting outside waiting having no idea if we hadn't gone in ourselves. Then, 45 minutes from the time we were supposed to pick up, a woman working behind the bar started complaining to her "regulars" that they don't need customers who complain (I.e my fiancé apparently) and offered several others giftcards for being "patient". The woman was so incredibly rude. We are patient people, but we didn't get our food until an hour and a half later than the time we were told. To make matters worse, we called and complained, they said they'd send a giftcard (it wasn't even about that, just the principal), and they never sent one! Very poor business, not fair to be rude to customers who are frustrated rightfully so. Will never go there again. read more

What a wonderful place to have a large-group luncheon! We hosted a bereavement lunch at Agatina's for 40 people. The food was delicious, the service was great, and the private room was clean and nicely decorated. I would highly recommend Agatina's! read more

I was very disappointed with the food. I ordered the shrimp scampi over rice and it was drowned in greasy butter and you could taste the alcohol that hadn't been burned off doesn't the chef taste his food or see what looked like a pound of butter grease floating over the rice it's a shame I remember fornitaros being awesome not anymore! I've had better food at other even 4 star establishments for cheaper and the restaurant continues to smell like "grandmas house." It's a nice place given as I've said it feels very dated in some aspects. We'll probably go back again sometime as chain restaurants are typically poor in quality and there are only so many home grown establishments. read more

Went today for the first time in years with a gluten allergy- more than accommodating. Their bartender had a great personality and asked for help about gluten free items! loved the fact that I got a gluten free roll. Ordered seafood Alfredo gluten free and it was fantastic. This is the Best Italian Restaurant in Rochester and surrounding cities. If you are looking for the Best of the best when it comes to any kind of "French " and Parm dishes then look no further. My family has been eating here since the late 1980's and this is Dining out not just grabbing a bite to eat. It can get a bit loud in the dining areas but thats because its not a secret that this place has awesome food and decent prices. I go here at least once or twice a month . My family went here on January 18th to celebrate my mothers 84th birthday. I could write a book but I'll sum it up briefly. SKIMPY drinks, horrible food, and I mean horrible, and terrible service....a lot of people walking around filling water glasses and that's about it. We've been here before anD the food was amazing, this time not so much. WE ordered bruschetta and coconut shrimp to start and those werre really good. We Waited a long time for our entrees and to say the least it was not worth the wait. My boyfriend ordered chicken marsala and took 2 bites of his entire meal, they ran out of mashed potatos for it but said they could bring a baked potato instead lol. The sauce was extremely runny and he said it tasted like pure vinegar! I ordered the lasagna which was amazing the last time. It came out and the sauce was extremely spicy and I ended up takiNg 3/4 of it home. They ended up talking my boyfriends meal off the check after they "tested it in the back". With that being said, it was packed in their and our waitress was great despite her running around, they cLearly needed more weight staff. Food is good and wait staff is polite. However, on New Year's Eve my party was told by the front desk check-in staff that we did not have a reservation, even though I showed them proof of the reservation I made a week prior. The older blonde woman wearing glasses was very rude and condescending to us, using the line "We've been in business over 30 years..." instead of admitting her mistake. After making us wait a while she made up a story of a cancellation and seated us. She never apologized and they never responded when I contacted the restaurant. They advertise friendly customer service, but we sure didn't see it. read more

Hi all. I love giving positive raving reviews if the establishment deserves it. I'd rather give a positive one instead of a negative one. But unfortunately there aren't alot of places around here that deserve that. Very few good restaurants and customer service around the Rochester area. And I live here. Agatinas is the worst Italian restaurant I've ate at! I haven't eaten here in years and didn't remember how it was. I thought it would be good. We got the homemade pasta platter. With the word homemade in it, I didn't think it would be bad at all. The manicotti was bland, as well as the gnocchi. The lasagna wasn't good either. The sauce wasn't anything special. It was like they just opened a can of tomato paste put a little bit of water in it and called it sauce. The bread they served was good. But who comes for the bread only. The soup was good. But I didn't come for the soup. My relative ordered the pesto sauce pasta dish and they put a ton of the sauce in it. It was swimming in sauce. And I noticed too that's all they put on it. Just sauce..no pine nuts, basil leaves, etc. Plus I don't think he asked for the creamy pesto, and that's exactly what he got served. My other family members thought the food was awful too. Gave my person next to me, indigestion. The chicken fingers were greasy and of terrible quality and taste. I honestly don't know how this place stays in business, let alone have alot of customers on a weeknight. We won't be going back! Thank goodness we didn't have to pay for the food, as it was paid for by a family member. Plus it's way over priced. I wouldn't mind paying their prices if the food was out of this world good. But it was crap so...their food is worthless. I couldn't sleep after eating their food. I didn't have alot of the stuff as it was so bad. One word. Terrible. I ordered the Alfredo and it taste like my noodles were not cooked all the way, when I asked she said they're home made...ummm ok? I also had soup which was not good. Its so sad I have to travel all the way across town to eat good Italian food. I LOVE agatinas! My family has been going here for years. Some of the best home cooked Italian food in Rochester. Also they have a friendly and welcoming staff. We had my parents 50th anniversary here and the staff was so helpful with planning and accommodated all of our needs. 5 stars every time!! read more

Nice waitstaff, but food was obviously frozen and store-bought. The Veal Roma was tasty, but was sitting in a pool of grease so hot that I burned myself every time I cut the meat. The appetizer, calamari, also sat in a tub of grease. The only thing I complimented the restaurant on, the Caesar dressing, the waitress said was store bought. I had heard good things about the food at Agatina's so I took my family there recently for a birthday celebration. We were a party of five. Four of us found the food poor to fair. The lasagna was flavorless. The pasta primavera was swimming in oil. The cioppino contained decently cooked shrimp and scallops, but the clams were chopped (and probably from a can) and the whole thing was smothered in a heavy, dull marinara sauce. (I've eaten a lot of cioppino over the years and it's always been a seafood soup, except at Agatina's.) One bright spot: the tiramisu was good. read more

7 of us went. 1 ordered Eggplant Parm and said it was ok, 1 ordered raviolis-ok, I ordered stuffed shrimp on a bed of rice-bland and the rice was inedible-soaking wet. 4 ordered early bird Delmonico steaks. 1 said it was ok, 3 were horrible. Completely riddled with fat and stringy. Not a decent piece of meat to be found anywhere. I've seen better steaks at diners. I brought home the leftover "steak" and cut it into pieces for the dog. I wish I had taken photos-ick and I had to wash my hands with a liberal amount of Palmolive to remove the grease from all the fat. A complete waste of money!!!! read more

Table setting- Linen covered by "butcher" paper, silverware not fit for a cafeteria, service lacking commitment. No shreaded cheese served with salad or meal. Dessert presentation so fast by LA that you couldn't understand what was what. Meals were good but not up to order requested- medium rare came all brown medium, seafood/lobster bisque was seafood/lobster-less and Seafood Alfredo (shrimp, scallops, lump crab simmered in a cream sauce over angel hair) was drowned in cream sauce that was all you could taste. read more

Im all about giving a second chance but today is the day I say no more. We came in without a reservation so understandably there is a wait, however, it was not long so that was great. Once seated though we waited at least 25 minutes for the waitress, I had go to the woman that seated us and ask for a server. orders were taken and all was good until everyones food came out but my own. I understand and things happen, but, when everyone is done with there food and I am still waiting, thats unacceptable. I asked the server to please box my food so as to not have to have everyone at the table wait for me to finish. I assumed there would be some sort of compensation which there was, it was a free dessert. Normally I would take the dessert and get over it, but the meals there are not cheap and a free dessert does not compensate for a meal I did not eat because everyone was done and ready to leave, not to mention that after looking at the check that was presented to us, it said stuffed haddock (do not make) not sure why you would tell the cook not to make the food thats been ordered. Went to Agitina's 11/22/14 with a group of seven others. Reservations were for 7PM, didn't get seated until after 8PM. The hostess staff appeared to care less of our delayed seating. When seated the waiter took several minutes before he approached our table and the first thing out of his mouth was that they only had two pork chops left, he then did take our drink order. When he returned with our drinks, we were ready to order but first another announcement from our waiter that the restaurant was now out of one variety of their two soup selection. When he returned with our soup he announced yet again that they were now out of eggplant. We all wondered if they would have been out of these three items if we would have been seated at or near 7PM... It was at this time that we needed to ask our waiter for bread for the table. We ordered our meals... Forty-five minutes without our waiter ever coming back once to our table to check on us, our meals were served; it was now roughly 9:15PM. To sum things up, every one of us felt the food was far below par and the drinks way overpriced. Those who had the veal said it was overdone and tough, the steak lacked taste and was also tough, the red sauce which most of us had was bitter and the linguini, clams and calamari which I had was simply terrible. All eight of us shared the same comment that we will never go to Agitina's again! read more
