Mediocre 'Mexican' food but nice sized tacos. Not worth paying full price for, give them a visit on taco Tuesday. Salsas and queso were great, chips were horrible- cold thick and stale. Margarita tasted like lime punch, beer was a bit tempid for my taste. Alright, but not a place to visit more than once, if for nothing else but the location and atmosphere. read more

We were told our wait would be 25 minutes by a hostess that was less than friendly. 50 minutes we walked in and asked about our table. There was whispering and chatter and then no one said anything but took us to a table. We then waited 30 Minutes before our waitress came to take our order. We visited today for lunch and were sat within a couple of minutes. It took another 10 minutes for someone to come and get our drink orders and after that service was fine. We were told someone had called out and that's understandable. We ordered chips with queso and guac, both fantastic. My husband ordered the tater tots and I think those were probably hands down my favorite thing off the menu! Lunch was the birria tacos for me along with a plain Jane taco. They were both delicious and I would order them again. I can't remember which ones my husband ordered, but he said the chicken was a little on the dry side, other than that they were good. I've only been once and didn't care for it. For an appetizer we had the pimento cheese with nachos - it was okay. The food offerings are a little strange. The service was fine but you have to turn over a card to get a server - which is different but not too bad. I did not like the decor at all. It's sensory overload and not relaxing at all. There's just too much going on in the restaurant. I did not order a drink because I don't drink due to diabetes but I will say that the drinks sounded good and I was interested in having a little taste of some of them. Overall, the food wasn't appetizing to me and the ambience was a bit crazy. If you're a drinker, though, you'd probably like this place. read more

Omg you need to try this place if you haven't already. Imagine like, Condado's...but better. It's the same concept, they have multiple different options of tacos and you pick as many as you want and viola, best tacos you'll ever have in your life. The staff here are super awesome and the whole place has a very chill but conceptual-modern vibe to it. Like hipsters and Florida taco trucks had a restaurant baby. Also the food is phenomenal. Beer is good, domestic. Apps are kick-ass ( I highly recommend the pick-three ) and the tacos are totally unique from one another. You truly can't pick a bad taco. read more

I was thankful to get the opportunity to check out this new location. It may be my favorite one. It's right on the square in the center of Troy. They were trained and ready to serve for this soft opening. Taylor was our waitress and she was pretty on top of things. When she wasn't available, someone else was checking on us to see if we were ok. We got a pitcher of margaritas and some appetizers. We got the breaded cauliflower, truffle fries with bourbon catsup, and the Mac and cheese. All were very tasty. I loved the catsup and I don't typically use catsup. I would like to see the cauliflower cut it to bite size pieces and then breaded. They were such big chunks that when you cut a bit size piece, there was almost no breading left. It still was very tasty. The location has plenty of parking around it and inside there is a large bar and plenty of dining room seating. I think this location will do very well. I appreciated the opportunity to preview it. read more

Hey, if you're into presentation, or food that ventures a little outside the realm of normal check out Agave & Rye. I had a hard time seeing anything on the taco menu that I have seen before (new is good). Unless you get the plain Jane which is something of a regular taco. The appetizers are normal but with a twist. Our lovely waitress recommended three appetizers and two of them we decided to go with. Starting with the egg roll, which holds not its usual contents but unusual ones. Like those baby carrots we love but are not sure why, noodles, and many other things you typically find in a dish that would come with an egg roll as a side item. The egg roll is the meal and the side all in one. *The cauliflower appetizer was my favorite thing out of everything I had ate. For those of you who have never experienced fried cauliflower, I understand you're a Restraint but if you look at it as a delicious appetizer with much potential instead of a meat substitute I think you could see yourself to be more likely to get it. And I also believe, truly, that you will not be disappointed unless you do not like the way it's made. Just to be clear, you will like the way it's made at Agave and Rye. Now for the tacos. I got the cats meow and the bang bang. The cats meow consisted of grits and some thing you'd consider gumbo contents, it was very good I thought the grits inside of the taco was a really cool and til then, unthought of taco filler. The sausage, shrimp and everything that went on top of the taco was very delicious. I really like that they put the soft shell around the hard taco because tacos like theirs would not withstand just a hard shell after one bite. They need/ and deserve that softshell in order to even hold those contents. The bang bang was really good it was again fried cauliflower and fried corn fritters with other contents that held a little spice. Over all the bang bang taco was my favorite but I would like to mention here again the grits in the cats meow was really good. Overall if you're looking for a new experience of tacos, wonderful presentation, and a combination of different kinds of meals in a different form I would check out Agave and Rye. Now to my favorite, drinks. Drinks become my favorite at a restaurant when their unique, have a good presentation, and superior taste. It's awesome when you can taste the alcohol but you can also taste the flavors described in the menu. I started out with the Little Red Corvette, The presentation was simple, you had to give it a little spin in order to get the full flavor of everything but it was a really nice fruity drink that was not too sweet. I was disappointed that I did not have a dried edible rose that was mentioned on the menu. But maybe next time. The next drink, the Hibiscus Habanero Margarita. This margarita was such a beautiful color, it's in the middle of a pink, red, and purple with two lovely dried hibiscus leaves on top. I advise you to give it a little spin (to mix the contents) and it puts the heat out a little bit and adds the full flavor of the actual drink My mother ordered the Agave and Rye. I wish I would've gotten this drink. Our waitress said it was for bourbon lovers And I just want to say it is also for those who are other liquor lovers because it was so smooth and delicious. Another thing that I loved about each drink, was any garnishes that we experienced in each drink were completely edible and easy to be edible, so nothing is really wasted. The service was stellar! Everything was explained to us about Agave and Rye as soon as we mentioned it was our first trip in. Our waitress was very attentive and I do not believe she needed the very creative signs that we could've used to get her attention. I really enjoyed being able to flip a sign over in order to let my server know I needed her for something if that was something I needed to do. Great service. Very clean. I want to start off by saying that we are die hard fans of Agave and Rye but not anymore. I am extremely disappointed with the changes of management at the Troy location. Absolutely saddened for all of the employees who have to work with this sorry excuse of a "General Manager". I have held my tongue for quite awhile now but today was enough. I was dining in earlier today with my Husband while trying to cool off from the heat of the Strawberry Festival when all of a sudden I heard Brandon scream for another employee in the most hateful voice to get on expo. Our heads snapped back as we saw him fired up in the most uncomfortable, unprofessional, and unprovoked way. Our heads turned back to look at the employee he was screaming at across the whole entire dining room. Busy dining room at that. That employees face was just covered in defeat as if this happens way too often. We eventually saw her back in the dining room and called her over to check on her. Her name is Shawnna and she is always so wonderful with us. She is another manager in the building. Can you imagine the disrespect and embarrassment that the GM brings upon not only her but his employees. Wow oh wow. 4:45 in the afternoon, seated immediately and drinks served just as quickly. Pineapple jalapeño Rita was pretty spicy and overpowered by the jalapeño. Once the garnish was removed however, the rest of the experience was a perfect mix of sweet and spice. Food served very quickly. Tasty taco with strawberries and raspberry vinaigrette but not much chicken at all and one is not enough to satisfy. After five PM it got busy quick and the music went loud techno disco dance. They're crafted with overflowing ingredients and spectacular flavors. They also have an extensive selection of whiskeys and tequilas, and a handful of mescals as well. Great service, guacamole was good and atmosphere was excellent. Let's talk about the food. Tortilla chips are made with corn, ONLY corn. Flour chips are pitas. Next, too much filler in the tacos with carb overload. 2 shells, lots of Mac n cheese. We had 8 different tacos. Flavor was great but light on substance. Went with my daughter to try the new restaurant chain in town. They did a great job on decor- it's beautiful and fun. Music is a little loud (and I'm hard of hearing) but outside of having to talk louder-not too big of a deal. Wait staff were helpful and nice. So why 2 stars? The food. Zero flavor. Taco Bell has more going for it. The chicken was burnt, the Mac and cheese reminded my daughter of vomit (sorry), and the tortilla chips were stale or burnt. We tried 5 different tacos and none had any flavor and I don't have COVID. I'm all for unusual and new ingredients, but the menu sounded like you had a fridge full of leftovers and thought-"yeah, let's put that in a taco shell." Next up, pricing. For 9 tacos, two guacs and chips and WATER, it was $85, then add a tip. Whyyyy. I may try it after it's had a chance to get its legs under it (it's a new restaurant after all) but it likely won't be soon. I have heard the drinks are good but I can't comment on that except for seeing the margaritas are around $11 Ea. read more

This place is so fun! Music and staff are fun! Beautiful tagging and lighting fills the space and provides for a great vibe! They were clean and continually sanitizing. Servers were fantastic. We had chips and queso, quesadillas, the big thumper. But the Eloté..... oh the eloté! It is simply amazing! Being from southern California, I have had real, genuine, from the cart Eloté! This was the best I have ever had. Fresh, just enough seasoning and cilantro. Mmmmm! The peach bourbon punch is fantastic. This is a fantastic little bar and restaurant! No complaints at all. I cannot wait to go back to try the house made tots and carrot cake! (They ran out of the carrot cake tonight.) But it is just fine because I will be back! read more
