Stopped in for lunch on a Saturday. It was not too busy. Server was attentive and friendly. Chips and salsa were below average. Chips were not very salty and salsa was nothing special. Queso was good. I ordered lunch special 26. I looked up the veggie quesadilla on the menu to see what it had in it. Menu said broccoli, cauliflower and carrots. It had bell peppers and zucchini and maybe some other stuff but not broccoli or cauliflower or carrots. The food was ok but disappointing. Table-side guacamole was the highlight of the meal... that however was the only positives.. as burrito was bland and watery and the carnitas looked like stewed onions and chicken. We have eaten at Agave a few times now. The food is consistently good and the price per quality and quantity is exceptional. The service can be hit or miss, but we don't go for the service and in fairness the was pouring outside and it appeared that they had a roof leak which was probably the source of the service being off. While not optimal, but it is understandable. The salsa is outstanding and the chips are consistently fresh, and no extra charge for extra salsa or their habenero hot salsa which is also worth mentioning. It's hot but it has flavor and pairs perfectly with the carne asada and steak fajitas. The Dia de los Muertos decorations and murals are outstanding, absolutely love the interior. My husband had a very large burrito, chicken flauta, and a beef taco. The food was OK. I would choose next time not to have any of their sour cream sauce on my salad. It was pretty watery. They have quickly made a reputation for itself since its establishment in 2023. They replaced another Mexican restaurant, Margarita Loco, and I think it is undoubtedly a huge improvement. The name a bit confusing since there they've used Agave Mexican Restaurant and just plain Agave. Known for its authentic Tex-Mex cuisine, outstanding margaritas, and inviting atmosphere, this family-owned restaurant offers an nice dining experience. The atmosphere at Agave Bar & Grill is a delightful blend of charm and festivity. The tastefully decorated interior exudes warmth, with great murals, colorful accents and a lively vibe that sets the stage for a good Mexy meal. Their food offerings of Tex-Mex cuisine feature a range of tantalizing appetizers, including their Agave Queso and Fresh Gulf Shrimp Ceviche. The menu also has an array of expertly crafted tacos, enchiladas, and burritos, as well as specialty dishes like the Carne Asada and vegetarian Spinach and Mushroom Quesadillas. You can also get there very tasty guacamole made fresh table side which is delightful. We have found a new Mexican place to enjoy a margarita and some decent food fare. A definite order is the tableside guac for sure. The service is 5 star for friendly staff and over the top attention. We have visited twice now and thoroughly enjoyed both of our meals. The second time they had a much better crowd meaning the word is getting out. Second time eating here and the overall experience was nice. Food was good and fairly priced however it seemed that there was slight difference in quality between visits. Service was prompt and the staff was nice. The ambience felt modern and casual. New age Mexican music and vibrantly painted murals on the wall. There were signs of renovation still visible such as exposed wall seams and uneven paint lines but was very minor and didn't really take away from the overall experience. We travel to Gulf Shores several times a year to visit my in-laws, who have lived there for 5 years now. We have FINALLY found some good Mexican food! Poncho was our server and he was amazing. Very friendly, and when we asked if their guac was any good, imagine our surprise when he stated they made it fresh at the table. My in laws had margaritas which they said were delicious. My husband had a barria soup, which was fabulous, freshly made, and way more than he could finish on his own. We all enjoyed our meals, and the check at the end didn't break the bank. The prices are great, but the food isn't. Tableside gauc was bland. All of the proportions were off. Not enough lime, not enough salt, too much cilantro... the chips were stale and flavorless. The chimichanga dinner was laughable. The chimichanga was maybe 2 x 2 inches. My burrito wasn't too bad but it was supposed to be covered in cheese dip. First, our server, Sebastian, was so cordial, attentive and professional. The excellent chips and homemade salsa arrived promptly and were so good! Sebastian took our order and the food arrived quickly. It was hot and tasty. Sebastian was good to keep checking back to see if we needed anything. We have lived in Gulf Shoes for almost two years now and we have tried about six different Mexican restaurants all being extremely bland and very average no flavor at all. We recently discovered Agave Bar & Grill and have been back five times now. Every time we go we try something different and every time the meal is delicious and loaded with flavor. Their chicken and ground beef items have so much flavor. Their employees are so nice and prices are very reasonable. When we went, 11/20/23, they had two employees who worked quick but it seemed to make you feel as though everything was too fast paced. They are also too talkative as opposed to just checking on you. My wife and I had steak and chicken fajitas which were ok, not great. My chicken was tasty but a bit dry. It did not go wow so we likely will not return. This restaurant was suggested to me. My husband and I arrived around 5:30pm. The restaurant is not huge and there were quite a few tables already seated. Still we were seated immediately and given menus and were asked if we knew what we wanted to drink. We did not so the host came back with waters. A large margarita with a small bottle of 1800 tequila tipped upside down ready to pour into the drink We ordered guacamole (made at the table). I ordered Poblano pepper stuffed with cheese, beef enchilada, rice and beans combo and my husband ordered the Flaming Cheese Fajitas which also came with rice and beans. We were asked how we were doing throughout-water, napkins, drink, chips? It was not intrusive at all and you could tell everyones goal was to make sure you had what you needed. Our server came back shortly after and began making the guacamole. Avocado ", tomato, pinion, cilantro, lime, salt and a little freshly squeezed orange. The whole time he was talking and joking. He even tried to teach us a few spanish words. He joked if we didn't like it the price doubled. It was a huge yummy bowl of goodness. We finished the whole thing in no time. As we slowly sipped our drinks we heard the employees having fun with all the other guests. The whole mood was extremely upbeat and fun. Our food came and the Flaming Fajitas were quite a show. They literally set them on fire before serving! It made the cheese gooey with a teeny crunch on the outside. My husband said the plate was excellent and proceeded to demolish it. Mine was excellent as well. The stuffed poblano was not deep fried but rolled in an egg mixture which was cooked and covered the pepper. The sauce was perfect! My enchilada was good as well but missing the beef. No worry, it had lots of melted cheese and a tasty dark sauce. I stole some of my husbands meat and voila! Beef enchilada! The rice and beans did not taste commercial-delicious. We continued to have check-ins. While we were there we noticed the huge sombreros and were laughing with our server about them and before we knew it we were wearing them!
